Role of renewable,non-renewable energy consumption and carbon emission in energy efficiency and productivity change:Evidence from G20 economies

The challenge of achieving sustainable economic development with a secure environmental system is a global challenge faced by both developed and developing *** Efficiency(EE)is crucial in achieving sustainable economic growth while reducing ecological *** research utilizes the Slack-Based Measure Data Envelopment Analysis(SBM-DEA)and the Malmquist-Luenberger Index(MLI)method to evaluate EE and productivity changes from 1995 to 2020 across G20 *** study uses four different input-output bundles to gauge the impact of renewable and non-renewable energy consumption and carbon emissions on EE and productivity *** study results show that including renewable energy consumption improves the average EE from 0.783 to 0.8578,but energy productivity declines from 1.0064 to *** bad output(carbon emissions)in the estimation process enhances renewable EE and productivity change,resulting in an average EE of 0.6678 and MLI of *** change is identified as the primary determinant of energy productivity growth in scenarios 1 and 2,while technical efficiency determines energy productivity change in scenarios 3 and *** Kruskal-Wallis test reveals a significant statistical difference between the mean EE and MLI scores of G20 countries.

High-energy gamma-ray radiography has exceptional penetration ability and has become an indispensable nondestructive testing(NDT)tool in various *** high-energy photons,point projection radiography is almost the only feasible imaging method,and its spatial resolution is primarily constrained by the size of the gamma-ray *** conventional industrial applications,gamma-ray sources are commonly based on electron beams driven by accelerators,utilizing the process of bremsstrahlung *** size of the gamma-ray source is dependent on the dimensional characteristics of the electron *** research has been conducted on various advanced accelerator technologies that have the potential to greatly improve spatial resolution in *** our investigation of laser-driven gamma-ray sources,a spatial resolution of about 90μm is achieved when the areal density of the penetrated object is 120 g/cm^(2).A virtual source approach is proposed to optimize the size of the gamma-ray source used for imaging,with the aim of maximizing spatial *** this virtual source approach,the gamma ray can be considered as being emitted from a virtual source within the convertor,where the equivalent gamma-ray source size in imaging is much smaller than the actual emission *** the basis of Monte Carlo simulations,we derive a set of evaluation formulas for virtual source scale and gamma-ray emission *** optimal conditions,the virtual source size can be as small as 15μm,which can significantly improve the spatial resolution of high-penetration imaging to less than 50μm.

Vegetable fields are often contaminated by heavy metals,and Spodoptera exigua is a major vegetable pest which is stressed by heavy metals mainly by *** this study,cadmium accumulation in the tissues of *** exposed to cadmium and its effects on the growth and development of the parents and the offspring were *** the stress of different concentrations of cadmium(0.2,3.2,and 51.2 mg kg^(-1)),the cadmium content in each tissue of *** increased in a dose-dependent *** the larval stage,the highest cadmium accumulation was found in midgut in all three cadmium treatments,but at the adult stage,the highest cadmium content was found in fat *** addition,the cadmium content in ovaries was much higher than in *** *** was stressed by cadmium and the F_(2)generation was not fed a cadmium-containing diet,the larval survival,pupation rate,emergence rate and fecundity of the F_(2)generation were significantly reduced in the 51.2 mg kg^(-1)treatment compared to the corresponding *** in the F_(2)generation of the 3.2 mg kg^(-1)treatment,the fecundity was significantly lower than in the parental *** fecundity of the only-female stressed treatment was significantly lower than that of the only-male stressed treatment at the 3.2 and 51.2 mg kg^(-1)cadmium exposure *** only mothers were stressed at the larval stage,the fecundity of the F_(2)generation was significantly lower than that of the F1generation in the 51.2 mg kg^(-1)treatment,and it was also significantly lower than in the 3.2 and 0.2 mg kg^(-1)*** results of our study can provide useful information for forecasting the population increase trends under different heavy metal stress conditions and for the reliable environmental risk assessment of heavy metal pollution.

Modulating redox transition kinetics by anion regulation in Ni-Fe-X(X=O,S,Se,N,and P)electrocatalyst for efficient water oxidation

NiFe-based electrocatalysts will experience dynamical surface reconstruction during oxygen evolution reaction(OER)process,and the derived metal(oxy)hydroxide hybrids on the surface have been considered as the actual active species for *** efforts have been dedicated to understanding the surface reconstruction,but there is rare research on recognizing the origin of improved performance derived from anion species of ***,the OER electrocatalytic characteristics were tuned with different anions in NiFe-based catalyst,using NiFe-based oxides/nitride/sulfide/selenides/phosphides(NiFeX,X=O,N,S,Se,and P)as the model *** combination of X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy,electrochemical tests,operando spectroscopic characterizations,and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,reveals that anion with lower electronegativity in NiFe-based catalyst leads to higher conductivity and delayed valence transition of Ni sites,as well as optimized adsorption behavior towards oxygen intermediates,contributing to enhanced OER ***,NiFeP electrocatalyst demonstrates an ultralow overpotential of 265 mV at 20 mA·cm−2 for OER,as well as long-term *** work not only offers further insights into the effect of anionic electronegativity on the intrinsic OER electrocatalytic properties of NiFe-based electrocatalyst but also provides guide to design efficient non-noble metal-based electrocatalysts for water oxidation.

Herpesviral hematopoietic necrosis disease caused by cyprinid herpesvirus 2(CyHV-2)results in huge economic losses for the gibel carp(Carassius auratus gibelio)aquaculture industry.A vaccination strategy is a feasible method to prevent CyHV-2 infection and the resulting economic *** this study,inactivators(includingβ-propiolactone,formaldehyde and binary ethylenimine)were used to prepare an inactivated *** optimal inactivated CyHV-2 vaccine(0.2%β-propiolactone inactivates CyHV-2 for 48 h)mixed withβ-glucan,anisodamine,chitosan,and astragalus polysaccharide(APS)adjuvants were injected into gibel ***β-glucan and APS combined with inactivated vaccine significantly improved the relative immune protection rate of gibel carp against CyHV-2 *** highest specific antibody levels inβ-glucan and APS groups were found in serum by ELISA assay and antibody neutralization ***,adjuvant addition groups produced better results for lysozyme,total superoxide dismutase,and complement C3 in serum.β-glucan and APS combined with vaccine treatment effectively enhanced mRNA expressions of important immune genes(IL-1β,IgM,IL-2 and IFN-γ2).Minimal tissue lesions(gill,spleen,and head kidney)and virus replication were seen in theβ-glucan and APS groups by histopathological examination and expression analysis of CyHV-2 TK *** results indicated that the combination of inactivated vaccine and adjuvantβ-glucan or APS is an effective method against CyHV-2 infection and provided a case study reference for prevention of fish viral diseases using inactivated vaccines.

Li-O_(2)batteries with high energy density hold significant promise as next-generation energy storage ***,Li-O_(2)batteries have poor cycling performance at high current densities and large capacities,primarily due to the high impedance caused by the instability of the lithium anode and the sluggish kinetics in the discharge products decomposition on the ***,we investigated a bifunctional nitrile additive(2-methoxy benzonitrile(2-MBN))with good chemical/electrochemical stability to improve the performances of Li-O_(2)*** 2-MBN could actively modify the anode by ensuring uniform Li+deposition and optimizing the composition of solid electrolyte interphase(SEI).Meanwhile,it could also facilitate the decomposition of discharge products by inducing the formation of sheet-like Li_(2)O_(2),significantly reducing the battery charge *** bifunctional effects of 2-MBN for the anode and cathode enable Li-O_(2)batteries to achieve a stable lifetime of 97 cycles at a current density of 600 mA·g^(−1)with a fixed capacity of 2000 mAh·g^(−1),much better than that of Li-O_(2)batteries without 2-MBN(28 cycles).The inclusion of 2-MBN provides an effective approach for attaining high-performance Li-O_(2)batteries.

Plants adapt to the limitation of soil phosphorus(P)induced by nitrogen(N)deposition through a complex interaction of various root and leaf functional *** this study,a pot experiment was conducted to explore the effects of different levels of N addition(control,low N[LN]:25 kg N ha^(-1) yr^(-1),high N[HN]:50 kg N ha^(-1) yr^(-1))on tree growth,leaf nutrient content,foliar P fractions and root characteristics of two dominant tree species,the pioneer species Salix rehderiana Schneid and the climax species Abies fabri(Mast.)Craib,in a subalpine forest in southwestern *** results demonstrated that LN addition had a minimal impact on leaf N and P ***,HN addition significantly decreased the leaf P content in both *** rehderiana exhibited more pronounced increases in specific root length and specific root area under P deficiency triggered by HN addition when compared with *** contrast,*** showed weaker morphological responses to N addition but had a higher proportion of foliar P to metabolic P,as well as higher root exudates rate and root phosphatase activity in response to HN *** fabri employs a synergistic approach by allocating a greater amount of leaf P to metabolite P and extracting P from the soil through P-mobilizing exudates and root phosphatase activity,while *** exhibits higher flexibility in modifying its root morphology in response to P limitation induced by HN *** study provides insights into subalpine tree species adaptation to N-induced P limitation,emphasizing its significance for guiding forest management and conservation in the context of global climate change.
