Fabrication of porous adsorbents from eco-friendly aqueous foam for high-efficient removal of cationic dyes and sustainable utilization assessment

Porous materials applied in environmental remediation have received researchers'extensive attention recently,but the related green and convenient preparation method is rarely reported.Here,we recommended a green and convenient strategy for the fabrication of porous material via aqueous foam templates,which was synergistically stabilized by Codonopsis pilosula(CP)and clay minerals of attapulgite(APT).The characterization results revealed that the APT was modified by organic molecules leached from CP and anchored at the air-water interface,which improved the foam stability significantly.The novel porous material of polyacrylamide/Codonopsis pilosula/attapulgite(PAM/CP/APT)templated from the aqueous foam via a polymerization reaction had excellent adsorption capacity for the cationic dyes methyl violet(MV)and methylene blue(MB),and the adsorption capacity can reach 755.85 mg/g and557.64 mg/g,respectively.More importantly,the adsorption capacity of spent adsorbent material was still over 200 mg/g after being recycled five times through a simple carbonization process,and then it was added to the plant pot,the total biomass was increased by about86.42%.This study provided a green and sustainable pathway for the preparation,application and subsequent processing of porous materials.

A matching M of a graph G is an induced matching if no two edges in M arejoined by an edge of G.Let iz(G) denote the total number of induced matchings of G,named iz-index.It is well known that the Hosoya index of a graph is the total number of matchings and the Hosoya index of a path can be calculated by the Fibonacci sequence.In this paper,we investigate the iz-index of graphs by using the Fibonacci-Narayana sequence and characterize some types of graphs with minimum and maximum iz-index,respectively.

A metallic interconnect plate with a flow channel array is one of the most important elements in a solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC). Electrochemical machining(ECM) is considered to be an adoptable technology for fabricating flow channels in an interconnect plate on account of its efficiency and low cost. With respect to the traditional electrolyte flow mode in ECM cross-channel array, the electrolyte usually flows from one side to the opposite side of the rectangular processing area. However, obvious flow marks are typically formed at the bottom of channels perpendicular to the flow. According to multiphysical simulation analysis, the low electrolyte velocity in the channels perpendicular to the flow leads to uneven distribution of electrolyte products. To improve the uniformity of the flow field, two new electrolyte flow modes, “two-in and two-out” and “three-in and one-out”, are proposed. By adding one or two additional electrolyte inlets to the sides of the traditional flow field, the electrolyte flow velocity in the channels perpendicular to the traditional flow will be increased. Corresponding simulations and experiments were performed and the results showed that the “three-in and one-out” flow mode can produce a flatter bottom surface for the cross-channel array. Parameter optimization experiments for the preferred flow mode were undertaken and the optimal flow field parameters were determined.

In this paper,we consider the following perturbed fractional Hamiltonian systems{tD_(∞)^(α)(_(-∞)D_(t)^(α)u(t))+L(t)u(t)=■_(u)W(t,u(t))+■(u)G(t,u(t)),t∈R,u∈H^(α)(R,R^(N)),whereα∈(1/2,1],L∈C(R,R^(N×N))is symmetric and not necessarily required to be positive definite,W∈C1(R×R^(N,R))is locally subquadratic and locally even near the origin,and perturbed term G∈C1(R×R^(N,R))maybe has no parity in u.Utilizing the perturbed method improved by the authors,a sequence of nontrivial homo clinic solutions is obtained,which generalizes previous results.

Critical terms in Chinese poetics pose difficulties to those who expect clear definitions and scopes of reference since many such words are not“properly”defined in their first appearances.To make matters worse,they gain new meanings when they are used and re-used in different contexts.By tracing the origins and the further resonances of feng in Chinese poetics,this essay demonstrates the discrepancy between the varied meanings of the word in Chinese and those in the English translations.This essay argues that one should not use their preconceptions to judge other literatures and cultures but to respect this“otherness”by probing the other intellectual traditions to find out their particularities.

Purpose:Minimal data exist on brain injury in patients with exertional heatstroke(EHS)in developing country.In this study,we explored the risk factors for brain injury induced by EHS 90-day after onset.Methods:A retrospective cohort study of patients with EHS was conducted in the intensive care unit of the General Hospital of Southern Theater Command of PLA in China from April 2014 to June 2019.Patients were divided into non-brain injury(fully recovered)and brain injury groups(comprising deceased patients or those with neurological sequelae).The brain injury group was further subdivided into a death group and a sequela group for detailed analysis.General information,neurological performance and information on important organ injuries in the acute stage were recorded and analysed.Multivariable logistic regression was used to identify risk factors for brain injury after EHS and mortality risk factors for brain injury,and Kaplan-Meier survival curve was used to evaluate the effect of the neurological dysfunction on survival.Results:Out of the 147 EHS patients,117 were enrolled,of which 96(82.1%)recovered,13(11.1%)died,and 8(6.8%)experienced neurological sequelae.Statistically significant differences were found between non-brain injury and brain injury groups in age,hypotension,duration of consciousness disorders,time to drop core body temperature below 38.5℃,lymphocyte counts,platelet counts,procalcitonin,alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,creatinine,cystatin C,coagulation parameters,international normalized ratio,acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II scores,sequential organ failure assessment(SOFA)scores,and Glasgow coma scale scores(all p<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression showed that age(OR=1.090,95%CI:1.02-1.17,p=0.008),time to drop core temperature(OR=8.223,95%CI:2.30-29.40,p=0.001),and SOFA scores(OR=1.676,95%CI:1.29-2.18,p<0.001)are independent risk factors for brain injury induced by EHS.The Kaplan-Meier curves suggest significantly prolonged survival(p<0.001)in patients with

Peripheral nerve injury leads to morphological, molecular and gene expression changes in the spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia, some of which have positive impact on the survival of neurons and nerve regeneration, while the effect of others is the opposite. It is crucial to take prompt measures to capitalize on the positive effects of these reactions and counteract the negative impact after peripheral nerve injury at the level of spinal cord, especially for peripheral nerve injuries that are severe, located close to the cell body, involve long distance for axons to regrow and happen in immature individuals. Early nerve repair, exogenous supply of neurotrophic factors and Schwann cells can sustain the regeneration inductive environment and enhance the positive changes in neurons. Administration of neurotrophic factors, acetyl-L-carnitine, N-acetyl-cysteine, and N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist MK-801 can help counteract axotomy-induced neuronal loss and promote regeneration, which are all time-dependent. Sustaining and reactivation of Schwann cells after denervation provides another effective strategy. FK506 can be used to accelerate axonal regeneration of neurons, especially after chronic axotomy. Exploring the axotomy-induced changes after peripheral nerve injury and applying protective and promotional measures in the spinal cord which help to retain a positive functional status for neuron cell bodies will inevitably benefit regeneration of the peripheral nerve and improve functional outcomes.

In 1913,a so-called Moon Bridge was built in the Japanese garden of the Huntington Library in San Marino,California,USA as a fruit of the Japonism in the Western world at that time.The master carpenter was Toichiro Kawai,a Japanese immigrant from Yokohama who was originally a ship carpenter.The bridge is made of wood and shaped in the exaggerated arch form,which classifies the bridge as a"drum bridge"(Taiko-bashi)in Japanese culture.However,the unique structural form of this bridge,the"woven arch",is rare in building history.This paper aims to explore why and how such a bridge appeared in such a place and time.For this purpose,we go from the historical background to its construction history,from the concept of the designer to the detailed design methods.Data come partly from the author’s first-hand investigation and the limited local archive.The most interesting discoveries were made during the detailed on-site investigation,including the fact that the bridge is designed to express the metaphor of"perfection"(full moon)through its geometrical features,and the design is based according to traditional Japanese methods.

Characteristics of Precipitation in China Associated with Tropical Cyclones over the Bay of Bengal

In comparison with the number of studies into the impact on precipitation in China of tropical cyclones(TCs)over the western North Pacific,investigation of the effect of TCs in the Bay of Bengal(BoB)on precipitation in China is lacking.In this study,precipitation in China associated with TCs over the BoB was divided into direct rainfall induced by TC cloud clusters and indirect rainfall related to the long-distance transport of TC water vapor.We partitioned the BoB TC-related rainfall that occurred during 2000–2018 in China and analyzed its statistical features.It was found that 40 of the 67(60%)TCs that occurred over the BoB exerted influence on rainfall in China.Direct rainfall was mainly distributed over the southeastern Tibetan Plateau and Southwest China,while indirect rainfall was distributed widely with two high-value centers:one over Yunnan Province and the other over the area south of the middle–lower reaches of the yangtze River.The highest mean daily rainfall amount of direct TC precipitation appeared in northern Yunnan Province and southeastern Tibet,while that of indirect TC precipitation occurred eastward of 110°E.During the bimodal period of peak occurrence of BoB TCs in May and October–November,the annual mean amount,intensity,and number of days of rainfall in China related to BoB TCs were generally greater in May,e.g.,the mean daily rainfall amount was twice that in October–November,except at stations in southeastern Tibet.In comparison with the BoB TCs that induced heavy rainfall in China in early summer,the TCs in autumn had a more southwestward mean position and a more asymmetric structure,with the long axis oriented in the northeast–southwest direction.Heavy rainfall induced by BoB TCs occurred mainly over southeastern Tibet and provinces south of the middle–lower reaches of the yangtze River in early summer and over Yunnan and Sichuan provinces in autumn,mostly in response to circulation patterns of a“northern trough with a southern TC”and of“convergence of two high pressure systems,”respect
