Joint offloading strategy based on quantum particle swarm optimization for MEC-enabled vehicular networks

With the development of the mobile communication technology,a wide variety of envisioned intelligent transportation systems have emerged and put forward more stringent requirements for vehicular communications.Most of computation-intensive and power-hungry applications result in a large amount of energy consumption and computation costs,which bring great challenges to the on-board system.It is necessary to exploit traffic offloading and scheduling in vehicular networks to ensure the Quality of Experience(QoE).In this paper,a joint offloading strategy based on quantum particle swarm optimization for the Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)enabled vehicular networks is presented.To minimize the delay cost and energy consumption,a task execution optimization model is formulated to assign the task to the available service nodes,which includes the service vehicles and the nearby Road Side Units(RSUs).For the task offloading process via Vehicle to Vehicle(V2V)communication,a vehicle selection algorithm is introduced to obtain an optimal offloading decision sequence.Next,an improved quantum particle swarm optimization algorithm for joint offloading is proposed to optimize the task delay and energy consumption.To maintain the diversity of the population,the crossover operator is introduced to exchange information among individuals.Besides,the crossover probability is defined to improve the search ability and convergence speed of the algorithm.Meanwhile,an adaptive shrinkage expansion factor is designed to improve the local search accuracy in the later iterations.Simulation results show that the proposed joint offloading strategy can effectively reduce the system overhead and the task completion delay under different system parameters.

A simple image-based method for online moisture content estimation of iron ore green pellets

Moisture content(MC)is an important quality metric of iron ore green pellets in pelletizing process in ironmaking industry.Current image-based methods for MC estimation may result in big errors for gray-scale pellet images captured under various lighting conditions.We proposed a simple image-based method to improve the MC estimation accuracy by illumination correction and linear regression modeling.Firstly,the illumination of the pellet image was transformed into the reference illumination by use of a color checker chart and piecewise linear interpolation,so that the influence of different illuminations could be greatly reduced.By experimental analysis,it was found that MC is approximately adversely proportional to the average intensity of the transformed images.A simple model for MC prediction was then established by linear fitting.Experiments demonstrated that the proposed method has good robustness to different lighting conditions and achieves the best performance in metrics of mean square error,mean absolute error and maximum absolute error in comparison with five state-of-art MC estimating methods.Application on a working disk pelletizer shows that the proposed method can predict well the change of moisture content with time,and its computing efficiency can satisfy the requirement for online MC monitoring during the pelletizing process.

Gut microbiome:New perspectives for type 2 diabetes prevention and treatment

Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),which is distinguished by increased glucose levels in the bloodstream,is a metabolic disease with a rapidly increasing incidence worldwide.Nevertheless,the etiology and characteristics of the mechanism of T2DM remain unclear.Recently,abundant evidence has indicated that the intestinal microbiota is crucially involved in the initiation and progression of T2DM.The gut microbiome,the largest microecosystem,engages in material and energy metabolism in the human body.In this review,we concentrated on the correlation between the gut flora and T2DM.Meanwhile,we summarized the pathogenesis involving the intestinal flora in T2DM,as well as therapeutic approaches aimed at modulating the gut microbiota for the management of T2DM.Through the analysis presented here,we draw attention to further exploration of these research directions.

Self-adaptive Algorithm for Simulating Sand Painting in Real-Time

Sand painting is a form of combination of arts and modern aesthetic, which relies on profound cultural heritage and cultural connotation. To provide the public and artists with an opportunity to better understand sand painting and make art creations surprisingly, this paper proposes a self-adaptive algorithm to simulate sand painting in a real-time way. Our simulation system exploits the height field to simulate sand flow to achieve a fast even real-time target. Seven frequently-used styles of painting techniques are elaborately defined and successfully simulated in our system, including pouring,seeping, dotting, stroking, sweeping, multi-stroking, and pinching. The procedure of sand flow is mainly consist of two key parts: sand accumulation and collapse. The direction field is introduced into the system to control a similar appearance of a normal distribution, which will be of benefit to sand accumulation algorithm. A selfadaptive approach is taken advantage of into sand collapse algorithm to present certain appearances with various details. A color factor is also considered for realistic simulation in this paper in two ways: one is the background color of sand table/canvas and the other is the natural color of sand particles themselves. User feedbacks and experimental results reveal that the algorithm of sand painting simulation in this paper can realize kinds of sand painting arts of creations easily, realistically, effectively and interactively.

Caregiver load refers to the subjective and objective negative impact of caregivers in the care of patients,and excessive load will have a serious impact on patients and caregivers themselves and can reduce their quality of life.For the main caregivers,it not only needs to care for the patients in life and daily life,but also needs to pay the cost of treatment for the patients,coupled with the need to carry out their own original work,life,etc.excessive life pressure,economic pressure,work pressure,emotional pressure,etc.lead to heavy load of the main caregivers,which can easily cause caregivers to have different degrees of psychological problems,which will cause serious adverse effects on the caregivers themselves and cancer patients,not conducive to the construction of a harmonious family and society.This article analyzes the current situation of primary caregiver burden in patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumors,analyzes its influencing factors,and specifies specific treatment strategies.It is hoped to provide scientific guidance for later related research and application.

Response to the outbreak of severe acute hepatitis of unknown origin in children

During October 2021 and February 2022,nine pediatric patients with acute hepatitis of unknown origin were identifed in Children’s of Alabama[1].These patients were tested negative for hepatitis viruses;and several other etiologies of hepatitis in children including autoimmune hepatitis were ruled out[1].In a short period of time,the number of cases has surged in many countries;importantly,the rate has exceeded past annual incidence in various regions[2–4].On 23 April 2022,World Health Organization(WHO)has issued a warning on severe hepatitis of unknown origin in children[5].As of May 18,575 suspected cases have been identifed in Europe,United States of American(USA),Israel,India,Japan,and other countries;35 children required liver transplantation and 11 died[6].

Effects of electroacupuncture on pain sensation in a rat model of hyperalgesia with nicotine dependence

Tobacco smoking is considered to be one of the main risk factors in the development of chronic pain.Long-term chronic exposure to nicotine and other forms of tobacco have been shown to be associated with an increased incidence of pain.Studies have shown that acupuncture can help smokers to reduce their desire to smoke,reduce their withdrawal symptoms,and avoid a relapse after treatment.However,little has been reported about the effects of acupuncture on pain sensitivity caused by long-term smoking.Models of hyperalgesia were established in rats exposed to nicotine for 6 weeks.After 6 weeks of continuous nicotine exposure,electroacupuncture at bilateral acupoints Zusanli(ST36)and Taichong(LR3)was performed 20 minutes per day for 6 days at a continuous wave with a frequency of 2 Hz and a stimulus intensity of 1 m A.The results revealed that electroacupuncture treatment increased the mechanical response threshold of hind paw of nicotine-dependent rats with hyperalgesia and up-regulated the protein expression of pain-related factorsμ-opioid receptor,β-endorphin and glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 in the spinal cord and midbrain periaqueductal gray and the protein expression of glutamic acid decarboxylase 67 in the spinal cord.These findings suggest that electroacupuncture treatment has positive analgesic effects on pain sensitivity caused by long-term chronic nicotine exposure.One possible mechanism for the improved analgesia is that electroacupuncture increases the expression of painrelated factors in the spinal cord and midbrain periaqueductal gray.This study was approved by Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee(IACUC)of the University of Miami(#18-167)on December 12,2018.

Cu-substituted nickel hexacyanoferrate with tunable reaction potentials for superior ammonium ion storage

In this work,a variety of Cu_(x)Ni_(2-x)Fe(CN)_(6)(x=0,0.4,0.8,1.2,1.6,2)cathodes for ammonium ion batteries are prepared and their electrochemical performances are investigated.During the introduction of copper in nickel hexacyanoferrate,the electrochemical performance varies without changing the structure of nickel hexacyanoferrate.The increase of Cu content in nickel hexacyanoferrate leads to the enhancement of reaction potential and capacity.Electrochemical results suggest that the substitution of Cu for Ni has a positive effect on improving the cycling stability and rate capacity of nickel hexacyanoferrate when x in Cu_(x)Ni_(2-x)Fe(CN)_(6)is less than 0.4.Therefore,Cu_(0.4)Ni_(1.6)Fe(CN)_(6)exhibits the best cycling per-formance(capacity retention of 97.54%at 0.3 C)and the highest rate capacity(41.4 mAh g^(-1)at 10 C)in Cu_(x)Ni_(2-x)Fe(CN)_(6).Additionally,the X-ray diffraction(XRD)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)tests also reveal that the structural evolution of Cu_(0.4)Ni_(1.6)Fe(CN)_(6)is highly reversible upon NH_(4)^(+)storage.Therefore,this work proposes a candidate material for ammoniumion batteries and offers a novel avenue for adjusting the operating potential of the material.

Background： Aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 （ALDH2） is involved in the pathophysiological processes of cardiovascular diseases. Recent studies showed that mutant ALDH2 could increase oxidative stress and is a susceptible factor for hypertension. In addition, wild-type ALDH2 could improve the endothelial functions, therefore reducing the risk of developing atherosclerosis. The aim of the present study was to explore the frequency of the Glu504Lys polymorphism of the ALDH2 gene and its relation to carotid intima-media thickness （CIMT） in a group of patients with essential hypertension （EH） and to investigate the association between the Glu504Lys polymorphism and CIMT in Chinese Han patients with EH. Methods： In this study, 410 Chinese Han patients with EH who received physical examinations at the People＇s Hospital of Sichuan Province （China） were selected. DNA microarray chip was used for the genotyping of the Glu504Lys polymorphism of the ALDH2 gene. The differences in CIMT among patients with different Glu504Lys ALDH2 genotypes were analyzed. Results： The mean CIMT of the patients carrying AA/AG and GG genotypes was 1.02 ± 0.31 mm and 0.78 ±0.28 mm, respectively. One-way ANOVA showed that the CIMT of the patients carrying the AA/AG genotype was significantly higher than in the ones carrying the GG genotype （P 〈 0.001）. Multivariate logistic regression showed that the Glu504Lys AA/AG genotype of the ALDH2 gene was one of the major factors influencing the CIMT in patients with EH （odds ratio = 3.73 l, 95% confidence interval = 1.589-8.124, P = 0.001）. Conclusions： The Glu504Lys polymorphism of the ALDH2 gene is associated with the CIMT of Chinese Han patients with EH in Sichuan, China.

Soluble Two-dimensional Supramolecular Organic Frameworks(SOFs):An Emerging Class of 2D Supramolecular Polymers with Internal Longrange Orders

Two-dimensional(2D) materials have been demonstrated to exhibit unique properties originating from its 2D nature. In recent years, the construction of 2D materials has become a topic of great interest. This article summarizes the recent advance of 2D supramolecular organic frameworks(SOFs) which are homogeneously constructed in solution phase through self-assembly of rationally designed building blocks. These 2D SOFs are soluble and still maintain stable network structures in solutions, which exhibit uniqueness not only in structures but also in properties. In this concise review, the SOFs-related background is briefly introduced firstly, followed by outlining the research progress of soluble 2D SOFs from the perspective of monomer design, assembly, and structural characterization.The article ends with a personal outlook on the future development of this new class of supramolecular polymers.
