Multi-scale nature of non-blade-order propagating flow disturbances in axial compressors

Non-blade-order flow disturbances, also referred to as pre-stall disturbances or tip flow unsteadiness, are closely related with compressor instabilities. The present work provides a comprehensive investigation on multi-scale nature of non-blade-order disturbances and the underlying flow physics in axial compressors. By applying full-annulus Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(URANS) simulations, along with space–time correlation and spatial Fourier decomposition, to the disturbed pressure, the propagating feature of the non-blade-order disturbances is obtained. Further, a bridge between non-blade-order disturbances and the evolution of unsteady vortex has been set up. The results show that non-blade-order disturbances, featured as short-length-scale(35 modes across annulus), first appear as the occurrence of tip leakage vortex fluctuation, while the compressor still operates far from stall. Leading-edge radial vortex appears at near stall condition, and its movement induces a circumferential propagating disturbance overlaying on the one induced by oscillating tip leakage vortex. The interaction of the short-scale disturbances with a lowamplitude long-scale(of circumference) disturbance is observed, which results in disturbances with multiple scales of consecutive spatial modes, along with multiple frequency peaks in spectra. The compressor falls into stall as the circumferential nonuniform scattering of the leading-edge vortexes occurs. The densely-and sparsely-scattered leading-edge radial vortexes induce a high-amplitude long-scale(of circumference) disturbance , i.e. stall disturbance.

Comparison of Rotating Stall Warning by Different Methods for Variable Speed Configurations in a Contra-Rotating Compressor

Differential metabolite analysis of the pharmacodynamic differences between different ratios of Dahuang(Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei Palmati)-Taoren(Semen Persicae) herb pair

OBJECTIVE: To explore the material basis of the difference of efficacy of Dahuang(Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei Palmati)-Taoren(Semen Persicae)(DT) drugs with different proportions. METHODS: Samples of different ratios of Dahuang(Radix et Rhizoma Rhei Palnati, DH) to Taoren(Semen Persicae, TR)(Group A 1∶1, B 2∶3, C 3∶2) were analyzed based on gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry untargeted metabolomics technique. RESULTS: A total of 240 primary metabolites were detected. Forty-one differential metabolites involved nine differential metabolic pathways, of which four were closely related to the efficacy of DT in the treatment of heat and blood stasis syndrome. These pathways included the biosynthesis of amino acid(phenylalanine tyrosine and tryptophan), flavonoids, unsaturated fatty acids, and the glycolysis/glycogenesis pathway. CONCLUSION: There are significant differences in the efficacy of different ratios of DT drugs, and their optimal ratio for the treatment of heat and blood stasis syndrome should be 1∶1.

Reduced order model for unsteady aerodynamic performance of compressor cascade based on recursive RBF

Based on Recursive Radial Basis Function(RRBF)neural network,the Reduced Order Model(ROM)of compressor cascade was established to meet the urgent demand of highly efficient prediction of unsteady aerodynamics performance of *** novel ROM called ASA-RRBF model based on Adaptive Simulated Annealing(ASA)algorithm was developed to enhance the generalization ability of the unsteady *** ROM was verified by predicting the unsteady aerodynamics performance of a highly-loaded compressor *** results show that the RRBF model has higher accuracy in identification of the dimensionless total pressure and dimensionless static pressure of compressor cascade under nonlinear and unsteady conditions,and the model behaves higher stability and computational ***,for the strong nonlinear characteristics of aerodynamic parameters,the RRBF model presents lower ***,the RRBF model predicts with a large error in the identification of aerodynamic parameters under linear and unsteady *** ASA-RRBF,by introducing a small-amplitude and highfrequency sinusoidal signal as validation sample,the width of the basis function of the RRBF model is optimized to improve the generalization ability of the ROM under linear unsteady ***,this model improves the predicting accuracy of dimensionless static pressure which has strong nonlinear *** ASA-RRBF model has higher prediction accuracy than RRBF model without significantly increasing the total time *** novel model can predict the linear hysteresis of dimensionless static pressure happened in the harmonic condition,but it cannot accurately predict the beat frequency of dimensionless total pressure.

Li-O_(2)batteries with high energy density hold significant promise as next-generation energy storage ***,Li-O_(2)batteries have poor cycling performance at high current densities and large capacities,primarily due to the high impedance caused by the instability of the lithium anode and the sluggish kinetics in the discharge products decomposition on the ***,we investigated a bifunctional nitrile additive(2-methoxy benzonitrile(2-MBN))with good chemical/electrochemical stability to improve the performances of Li-O_(2)*** 2-MBN could actively modify the anode by ensuring uniform Li+deposition and optimizing the composition of solid electrolyte interphase(SEI).Meanwhile,it could also facilitate the decomposition of discharge products by inducing the formation of sheet-like Li_(2)O_(2),significantly reducing the battery charge *** bifunctional effects of 2-MBN for the anode and cathode enable Li-O_(2)batteries to achieve a stable lifetime of 97 cycles at a current density of 600 mA·g^(−1)with a fixed capacity of 2000 mAh·g^(−1),much better than that of Li-O_(2)batteries without 2-MBN(28 cycles).The inclusion of 2-MBN provides an effective approach for attaining high-performance Li-O_(2)batteries.

Echocardiographic Follow-up of Robotic Mitral Valve Repair for Mitral Regurgitation due to Degenerative Disease

Background： Mitral valve （MV） repair can now be carried out through small incisions with the use of robotic assistance. Previous reports have demonstrated the excellent clinical result of robotic MV repair for degenerative mitral regurgitation （MR）. However, there has been limited infomlation regarding tile echocardiographic follow-up of these patients. The present study was therefore to evaluate the echocardiographic follow-up outcomes after robotic MV repair in patients with MR due to degenerative disease of the MV. Methods： A retrospective analysis was undertaken using data from the echocardiographic database of our department. Between March 2007 and February 2015, 84 patients with degenerative MR underwent robotic MV repair. The repair techniques included leaflet resection in 67 patients （79.8%）, artificial chordae in 20 （23.8%）, and ring annuloplasty in 79 （94.1%）. Eighty-one （96.4%） of the 84 patients were eligible for echocardiographic follow-up assessment, and no patients were lost to follow-up. Results： At a median echocardiographic follow-up of 36.0 months （interquartile range 14.3-59.4 months）, lbur patients （4.9%） developed recurrent mild MR, and no patients had more than mild MR. Mean MR grade, leli atrial diameter （LAD）, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter （LVEDD）, and let1 ventricular ejection fraction （LVEF） were significantly decreased when compared with preoperative values. Mean MR grade decreased from 3.96 ± 0.13 to 0.17 ± 0.49 （Z- -8.456, P 〈 0.001 ）, LAD from 43.8 ± 5.9 to 35.5 ± 3.8 mm （I - 15.131, P 〈 0.001 ）, LVEDD fiom 51.0 ± 5.0 to 43.3 ± 2.2 mm （t = 14.481, P 〈 0.001 ）, and LV EF l＇rom 67.3 ± 7.0% to 63.9 ± 5.1% （t = 4.585, P 〈 0.001 ）. Conclusion： Robotic MV repair for MR due to degenerative disease is associated with a low rate of recurrent MR, and a significant improvement in MR grade, LAD, and LVEDD, but a significant decrease in LVEF at echocardiographic follow-up.
