According to the Seventh National Census of China,the population of adults aged 65 and above will be 190 million in 2020(13.5%of the total population).As the“post-60s”group born at the second childbirth peak reaches retirement age,the growth rate of the population of older adults will accelerate significantly.By 2030,the proportion of older population(aged 65 and above)will reach about 17%,and the growth rate of the population aged 80 and above will be even more pronounced.

Vine tea has been used as an herbal tea by several ethnic minorities for hundreds of years in China.Flavonoids,a kind of indispensable component in a variety of nutraceutical,pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications,are identified to be the major metabolites and bioactive ingredients in vine tea.Interestingly,vine tea exhibits a wide range of significant bioactivities including anti-oxidant,anti-inflammatory,anti-tumor,antidiabetic,neuroprotective and other activities,but no toxicity.These bioactivities,to some extent,enrich the understanding about the role of vine tea in disease prevention and therapy.The health benefits of vine tea,particularly dihydromyricetin and myricetin,are widely investigated.However,there is currently no comprehensive review available on vine tea.Therefore,this report summarizes the most recent studies investigating bioactive constituents,pharmacological effects and possible mechanisms of vine tea,which will provide a better understanding about the health benefits and preclinical assessment of novel application of vine tea.

Summary What is already known about this topic?Physical fitness is well documented to be associated with physical activity among adults in the United States.In China,research on this association places a heavier emphasis on the populations of children and adolescents.What is added by this report?Physical fitness was shown to be positively associated with physical activity among adults aged 40 to 79 years in China.In populations with lower levels of physical fitness,this association was stronger.The coefficients of the log-transformed metabolic equivalent value of physical activity(logPA)in quantile regression models at the 25th,50th,75th,and 90th percentile of the physical fitness indicators were 1.14,1.04,0.89,and 0.84,respectively.

Antimony(Sb)is a recognized priority pollutant with toxicity that is influenced by its mi-gration and transformation processes.Oxidation of Fe(Ⅱ)to Fe(Ⅲ)oxides,which is a com-mon phenomenon in the environment,is often accompanied by the formation of Mn(Ⅲ/Ⅳ)and might affect the fate of Sb.In this study,incorporated Mn(Ⅲ)and sorbed/precipitated Mn(Ⅲ/Ⅳ)associated with lepidocrocite were prepared by adding Mn(Ⅱ)during and after Fe(Ⅱ)oxidation,respectively,and the effects of these Mn species on Sb fate were inves-tigated.Our results indicated that the association of these Mn species with lepidocrocite obviously enhanced Sb(Ⅲ)oxidation to Sb(V),while concomitantly inhibiting Sb sorption due to the lower sorption capacity of lepidocrocite for Sb(V)than Sb(Ⅲ).Additionally,Mn oxide equivalents increased in the presence of Sb,indicating that Sb oxidation by Mn(Ⅲ/Ⅳ)associated with lepidocrocite was a continuous recycling process in which Mn(Ⅱ)released from Mn(Ⅲ/Ⅳ)reduction by Sb(Ⅲ)could be oxidized to Mn(Ⅲ/Ⅳ)again.This recycling pro-cess was favorable for effective Sb(Ⅲ)oxidation.Moreover,Sb(Ⅴ)generated from Sb(Ⅲ)ox-idation by Mn(Ⅲ/Ⅳ)enhanced Mn(Ⅱ)sorption at the beginning of the process,and thus favored Mn(Ⅲ/Ⅳ)formation,which could further promote Sb(Ⅲ)oxidation to Sb(V).Over-all,this study elucidated the effects of Mn(Ⅲ/Ⅳ)associated with lepidocrocite arisen from Fe(Ⅱ)oxidation on Sb migration and transformation and revealed the underlying reaction mechanisms,contributing to a better understanding of the geochemical dynamics of Sb.

Fecal microbiota dynamics and its relationship to diarrhea and health in dairy calves

Background:Diarrhea is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in young calves,resulting in considerable economic loss for dairy farms.To determine if some gut microbes might have resistance to dysbiotic process with calf diarrhea by dictating the microbial co-occurrence patterns from birth to post-weaning,we examined the dynamic development of the gut microbiota and diarrhea status using two animal trials,with the first trial having 14 Holstein dairy calves whose fecal samples were collected 18 times over 78 d from birth to 15 d post-weaning and the second trial having 43 Holstein dairy calves whose fecal samples were collected daily from 8 to 18 days of age corresponding to the first diarrhea peak of trial 1.Results:Metataxonomic analysis of the fecal microbiota showed that the development of gut microbiota had three age periods with birth and weaning as the separatrices.Two diarrhea peaks were observed during the transition of the three age periods.Fusobacteriaceae was identified as a diarrhea-associated taxon both in the early stage and during weaning,and Clostridium_sensu_stricto_1 was another increased genus among diarrheic calves in the early stage.In the neonatal calves,Prevotella_2(ASV4 and ASV26),Prevotella_9(ASV43),and Alloprevotella(ASV14)were negatively associated with Clostridium_sensu_stricto_1(ASV48),the keystone taxa of the diarrhea-phase module.During weaning,unclassified Muribaculaceae(ASV28 and ASV44),UBA1819(ASV151),Barnesiella(ASV497),and Ruminococcaceae_UCG-005(ASV254)were identified being associated with non-diarrheic status,and they aggregated in the non-diarrhea module of co-occurrence patterns wherein unclassified Muribaculaceae(ASV28)and Barnesiella(ASV497)had a direct negative relationship with the members of the diarrhea module.Conclusions:Taken together,our results suggest that the dynamic successions of calf gut microbiota and the interactions among some bacteria could influence calf diarrhea,and some species of Prevotella might be the core microbiota in both neonatal and weaning

Fabrication of NiCoP decorated TiO_(2)/polypyrrole nanocomposites for the effective photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline

Due to the massive discharge of antibiotics in water,it is an urgent matter to remove antibiotics from waste water.The photocatalysts with high stability and activity have attracted extensive attention from researchers.By an in-situ polymerization method,polypyrrole(PPy)was modified on the surface of TiO_(2)(named as TiO_(2)/PPy).By one-step reduction method,NiCoP was grafted on the surface of TiO_(2)/PPy(named as TiO_(2)/PPy/NiCoP)to synthesize the photocatalyst of TiO_(2)/PPy/NiCoP for degradation of tetra-cycline(TC)antibiotic.The characterization results revealed that NiCoP was deposited on the surface of TiO_(2)/PPy successfully.The photocatalytic experiment results illustrated that 83.2%of TC could be de-graded at natural pH with 20 mg of TiO_(2)/PPy/NiCoP in 50 mL of TC solution(10 mg/L)under visible light irradiation.The high catalytic activity is attributed to the attachment of NiCoP on the surface of TiO_(2)/PPy which can enlarge the light response range of TiO_(2)effectively.Scavenger studies revealed that the degra-dation of TC was dominated by•O_(2)−and h+.The photodegradation efficiency of TC with TiO_(2)/PPy/NiCoP still reached over 74%after 5 consecutive cycles,indicating the potential applications in practical wastew-ater.

A study on the energetic electron precipitation observed by CSES

High energy particles are the main target of satellite space exploration; particle storm events are closely related to solar activity,cosmic ray distribution, and magnetic storms. The commonly seen energetic particle(electron) precipitation anomalies include mainly the inner and outer Van Allen radiation belts, the South Atlantic Anomaly, and the anomalous stripes excited by artificial electromagnetic waves. The China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite(CSES), launched in February of 2018, provides a platform for studying ionospheric particle disturbances. This paper reports the first studies of electron precipitation phenomenon based on high energy particle data from the CSES. We find that the global distribution of electron fluxes in the low energy band(0.1–3 MeV) can relatively well reflect the anomalous precipitation belt, which is consistent with results based on the DEMETER satellite, indicating that the quality of the lowenergy band payload of the CSES is good. In addition, this paper makes an in-depth study of the electron precipitation belt excited by the NWC artificial VLF electromagnetic transmitter located in Australia, which appears as a typical wisp structure on the energy spectrum. The magnetic shell parameter L corresponding to the precipitation belt ranges from 1.44 to 1.74, which is close to the L value(～1.45) of the NWC transmitter; the energy of the precipitation electrons is between 100 keV and 361.57 keV, among which the precipitation of 213.73 keV electrons is most conspicuous.
