Dear Editor,The severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus(SFTSV) is an emerging tick-borne pathogen belonging to the genus Bandavirus,family Phenuiviridae, which causes high fatality rates ranging from 12%to 30%(Kim et al., 2013). In the absence of efficacious drugs and vaccines, therapies for SFTS are performed mostly according to the clinical manifestations accompanied by supportive treatment. The SFTSV polymerase protein(SFTSV-L), encoded by its L segment, plays a critical role in genomic replication and transcription.

Antarctica and the Arctic are the coldest places, containing a high diversity of microorganisms, including viruses,which are important components of polar ecosystems. However, owing to the difficulties in obtaining access to animal and environmental samples, the current knowledge of viromes in polar regions is still limited. To better understand polar viromes, this study performed a retrospective analysis using metagenomic sequencing data of animal feces from Antarctica and frozen soil from the Arctic collected during 2012–2014. The results reveal diverse communities of DNA and RNA viruses from at least 23 families from Antarctic animal feces and 16families from Arctic soils. Although the viral communities from Antarctica and the Arctic show a large diversity,they have genetic similarities with known viruses from different ecosystems and organisms with similar viral proteins. Phylogenetic analysis of Microviridae, Parvoviridae, and Larvidaviridae was further performed, and complete genomic sequences of two novel circular replication-associated protein(rep)-encoding single-stranded(CRESS) DNA viruses closely related to Circoviridae were identified. These results reveal the high diversity,complexity, and novelty of viral communities from polar regions, and suggested the genetic similarity and functional correlations of viromes between the Antarctica and Arctic. Variations in viral families in Arctic soils,Arctic freshwater, and Antarctic soils are discussed. These findings improve our understanding of polar viromes and suggest the importance of performing follow-up in-depth investigations of animal and environmental samples from Antarctica and the Arctic, which would reveal the substantial role of these viruses in the global viral community.

A fault identification method of rotating machinerybased on t-SNE

A fault identification method ofrotating machinery is proposed,which combines wavelet packet of time-frequency analysis and manifold learning.Firstly,the sampled vibration signal is decomposed to multilayer information with wavelet packet decomposition(WPD) method.Andevery level data of wavelet packet decomposition is processed bydemodulatingof Hilbert transform,eliminating the high frequency noiseof FIR filterand reducing the data length of the low frequency of resampling.Further,every level data vector is deal with normalization and calculated for the auto power spectrum.Finally,the manifold learning methods of t distributed stochastic neighbor embedding(t-SNE) is applied to do dimension reduction to generate 2D manifold figure data.Different fault forms of gearbox have different manifold features,which is used to identify failure status of equipment.With the experiment test,the feasibility and effectiveness of this identification method is verified.

To investigate the effect of nitrogen on the photoluminescence properties of carbon quantum dots (CO Ds), N-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs)were synthesized by one-step hydrothermal treatment using biomass tar as the carbon precursor.As an inevitable organic pollutant,the unsaturated bonds in biomass tar,such as carboxylic acids,aldehydes,and aromatics,are favorable for formation of the graphitic carbon lattice.The obtained N-CQDs are spherical with an average particle size of 2.64nm and the crystal lattice spacing is 0.25nm,corresponding to the (100)facet of graphitic carbon.The N-CQDs emit bright blue photoluminescence under 365nm ultraviolet light,and they have excellent water solubility and stability with a high quantum yield of 26.1%.Coordination between the functional groups on the N-CQD surface and Fe^3+ ions is promoted because of the improved electronic properties and surface chemical reactivity caused by N atoms,leading to a significant fluorescence quenching effect of the N-CQDs in the presence of Fe^3+ions with high selectivity and sensitivity.There is a linear relationship between In (Fo/F)and the Fe^3+ concentration in the N-CQD concentration range 0.06-1400μmol/L with a detection limit of 60nmol/L, showing that the N-CQ.Ds have great potential as a fluorescent probe for Fe^3+detection.

Single crystallization is an important strategy to resolve intergranular cracks and unnecessary side reactions with electrolytes in layered transition metal oxide cathodes LiNi_(0.8)Mn_(0.1)Co_(0.1)O_(2)(NMC811).Due to the limitations of high-temperature sintering and multi-step calcination,single crystal NMC811 generally shows irregular particles with a size of 2-3μm.However,the prolonged Li-ion diffusion pathway and the stress generated by the uneven de-/intercalation sluggish Li-ion diffusion kinetics,what is more,cause structural damage such as intragranular cracks.A slow Li extraction rate or particle size reduction will ameliorate the structural damage and improve the cycling stability.As the most promising cathodes for next-generation power batteries,NMC811 required fast charge performance and cycle stability.Particle size reduction appears to be the displacement option.Nanonization is an effective strategy to mitigate intragranular cracks of single crystal NMC811.However,the serious aggregation and increased specific surface area become new challenges.In this article,we synthesized monodisperse nanoscale single crystal NMC811 by molten salt method and modified the surface by LiNbO3 coating.The electrochemical performance shows that nanoscale single crystal NMC811 has faster kinetic and higher capacity retention,so the strategy of combining nanonization and surface coating is an alternative way to prepare high specific capacity and cycle stable single crystal NMC811.
