Is There Any Impact of VDR Gene Polymorphism in Bataks Ethnic to Have Tuberculosis？

The active metabolite of vitamin D activates macrophages and results in the restriction of growth of Tuberculosis （TB） pathogen M. tuberculosis. The effect of vitamin D is achieved through binding to the Vitamin D Receptor （VDR）, which ultimately produces the antimicrobial peptide Cathelicidin. Matched case-control study with 76 pulmonary tuberculosis Indonesian Batak ethnic patients and 76 healthy normal control were completed. Genetic polymorphisms of VDR gene were analysed using PCR and RFLP. The genotype frequencies of ApaI were AA 10.6%, Aa 44.7%, aa 44.7% for the control group and AA 10.6%, Aa 43.4%, aa 46% for the PTB patients. For the Fokl genotype the frequencies were FF 39.5%, Ff 44.7%, ff 15.8% for the control group and FF 35.5%, Ff 55.3%, ff9.2% for the PTB patients. In these two genotypes there were no significant differences found between the control group and the PTB patients （P 〉 0.05）. Besides, there genotypic frequencies were in agreemem with the Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrum （P 〉 0.05）. However, for the BsmI genotype frequencies, BB 2.6%, Bb 23.7% and bb 73.7% for the control group and BB 0%, Bb 68.4%, bb 31.6% for the PTB patients, there was a significant association found with PTB; the bb genotype is correlated with a decreased risk for PTB （OR 0.22, 95% CI： 0.11-0.45）. ApaI and Fokl polymorphisms ofVDR gene do not appear to be responsible for host susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis in the Indonesian Batak ethnic population but BsmI polymorphism had association with host resistant to PTB.

The presence of geothermal manifestation in Bangka Island(Southeast Sumatra,Indonesia)with the absence of Quaternary volcanic activity and also relatively low seismicity events has raised intriguing questions on the control of the geothermal system in this *** the regional tectonic setting of Indonesia volcanic geothermal systems has been known,that of non-volcanic geothermal systems such as radiogenic system become an issue to be *** study reports the geochemistry and petrography analysis of Triassic granite related to radiogenic production at the vicinity of hot springs in Bangka *** temperatures of the Bangka hot springs range from 37 to 70.7 and pH values vary between 5.6 and *** hot springs are discharging either in close to massive granite bodies or occur in between two major NE-SW striking faults zones,i.e.,Pemali fault and Payung *** results indicate the average radiogenic heat production of Late Triassic Klabat granite in the northern area ranges from 28.5 to 38.34μWm^(-3)and the southern area ranges from 28.3 to 49.5μWm^(-3).In comparison to similar granite belt located in Malaysia,heat production of granitoid in Bangka hot springs is four times higher,possibly due to their different granite origins.

Hydroxyapatite(HA)is a bio ceramic commonly utilized in bone tissue engineering due to its bioactive and osteoconductive *** shells are usually disregarded as waste material despite their significant CaCO_(3) content,and have not been widely utilized in the synthesis of *** study aims to synthesize and analyze HA derived from crab shells using the hydrothermal method with different durations of holding *** study utilized precipitated calcium carbonate(PCC)derived from crab *** a hydrothermal reactor set at 160℃ and varying holding times of 14(HA_14),16(HA_16),and 18(HA_18)h,a PCC and(NH4)2HPO4 mixture was used to synthesize *** synthesis results were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and X-ray diffraction(XRD)*** study has accomplished the synthesis of HA from crab ***,the final product of synthesis still contained CaCO_(3) as an *** prolonged hydrothermal holding time of 14 to 18 h resulted in a reduction of impurities while increasing the percentage of crystal weight and crystallite size of *** CH_18 is the best-quality product generated in this *** specimen produced HA with the highest percentage of crystal weight and crystallite size compared to the other ***,specimen CH_18 exhibited the lowest concentration of *** Ca/P ratio in this specimen was also the closest to *** Ca/P ratio,crystallite size,and crystal weight percentage of this specimen are 1.54,19.06 nm,and 99.1%,respectively.

Vegetable oil production from oil palm(Elaeis guineensis Jacq.)is an important industry due to the rising demand every *** somatic embryogenesis culture can propagate oil palm duplicate as parent plant,which can be selected as breeding material to produce new planting germplasm with high production or disease *** study aims to evaluate the genotypic effect of somatic embryogenesis,while immature leaflets were employed as *** culture used embryo induction medium based on Murashige and Skoog(MS)modifications that contained 5 mg/L Naphthalene Acetic acid(NAA)and 0.5 mg/L Benzyl Amino Purine(BAP).The genotypic effect was statistically significant in the percentage of callus induction,producing somatic embryos,and germination *** this study,we successfully cloned thirteen oil palm genotypes(GE-02,GE-03,GE-06,GE-07,GE-09,GE-23,GE-24,GE-27,GE-28,GE-32,GE-33,GE-34,and GE-35),with the highest number of somatic embryos formed on GE-27 with a percentage of 70.1%.The cloning was successful in accelerating the propagation of oil palm for materials breeding programs to create new varieties with high production and disease *** is necessary to observation the performance of these clones in the field in terms of mantle flower appearance.

Shear wave splitting(SWS)is regarded as the most effective geophysical method to delineate mantle flow fields by detecting seismic azimuthal anisotropy in the earth's upper mantle,especially in tectonically active regions such as subduction *** Aleutian-Alaska subduction zone has a convergence rate of approximately 50 mm/yr,with a trench length reaching nearly 2800 *** a long subduction zone has led to intensive continental deformation and numerous strong earthquakes in southern and central Alaska,while northern Alaska is relatively *** sharp contrast makes Alaska a favorable locale to investigate the impact of subduction on mantle ***,the uniqueness of this subduction zone,including the unusual subducting type,varying slab geometry,and atypical magmatic activity and composition,has intrigued the curiosity of many *** identify different sources of seismic anisotropy beneath the Alaska region and probe the influence of a geometrically varying subducting slab on mantle dynamics,extensive SWS analyses have been conducted in the past ***,the insufficient station and azimuthal coverage,especially in early studies,not only led to some conflicting results but also strongly limited the in-depth investigation of layered anisotropy and the estimation of anisotropy *** the completion of the Transportable Array project in Alaska,recent studies have revealed more detailed mantle structures and characteristics based on the dense station coverage and newly collected massive seismic *** this study,we review significant regional-and continental-scale SWS studies in the Alaska region and conclude the mantle flow fields therein,to understand how a geometrically varying subducting slab alters the regional mantle *** summarized mantle flow mechanisms are believed to be conducive to the understanding of seismic anisotropy patterns in other subduction zones with a complicated tectonic setting.

A model to standardize safety and quality of care for cupping therapy

Cupping therapy has historical, traditional and religious value. It is increasingly popular in the field of complementary, alternative and integrative medicine. However, standards for safety and quality of service are absent. Although it is generally considered safe, cupping therapy can cause adverse *** of these events are predictable and preventable. A comprehensive approach to patient eligibility and therapist selection, along with compliance with standard operational procedures is essential to regulate the safety of the practice. Here we discuss a model framework for standardizing safety and quality of care. We recommend that this model be used routinely by cupping therapists and their associations on a nation-wide scale.

Agarwood is a non-timber forest product found in tropical rain *** is a black and fragrant resin valued for the perfume industry and demand continues to ***,the Indonesian agarwood-producing species,Aquilaria malaccensis and Gyrinops versteegii do not automatically produce such quality ***-induction technology or inoculation using Fusarium solani is usually applied to these species to trigger resin *** research aims to identify agarwood compounds formed in seedlings and trees of *** and *** after these species were inoculated with the fungus *** chemical compounds were identified by comparing the patterns of mass spectra fragmentation in the sample and in previous *** groups of agarwood compounds were identified:(1)sesquiterpen group-cisjasmone and aromadendrenepoxide;(2)chromones group-8-methoxy-2-(2-phenylethyl)chromen-4-one and newly-discovered chromone derivative,7-(benzyloxy)-5-hydroxy-2-methylchromone found only in ***;(3)aromatic group-benzylacetone,guaiacol,p-ethylguaiacol,phenol,syringaldehyde,vanilin,furfuryl alcohol,and furfural;(4)fatty acid group-palmitic acid,oleic acid,and lauric acid;and,(5)triterpen group-squalene.

Ultrafine bubbles and low doses of gamma irradiation had a positive effect on seed *** research tested the effectiveness of ultrafine bubbles(UFB)water and gamma irradiation for improving the viability and vigor of Albizia chinensis(Osbeck)*** that had been stored for four years.A completely randomized two-factor experiment,i.e.,UFB water and gamma irradiation treatments,were used to determine the best seed *** UFB water treatment had a significant effect on all seed germination parameters;the gamma irradiation treatment did not have a significant effect on improving the viability and vigor of the seeds,with a very low initial germination(11.7%).Soaking the seeds in UFB water for 30 min gave the best germination(51.3%).These improvements also occurred in other germination parameters such as germination rate,germination value,radicle length and vigor *** UFB water treatment has the potential to improve the germination of seeds with low physiological qualities.

Verification tests of a mirror box type artificial sky without and with building scale model

A mirror box type artificial sky for simulating the ClE standard overcast sky has been designed and constructed, while the verification method has been developed and tested. Ratio between the mirror height above the workplane and the room Length is 60：133 or 0.451, whereas the ratio between the mirror height above the workplane and the room width is 5：9 or 0.556. Taking the ClE standard overcast sky as reference, indoor illuminance ratios at various elevation angles relative to the zenith is found to be more consistent than Luminance ratios. The Largest error of illuminance and Luminance ratios are respectively 10% and 43%, obtained at O elevation angle. Horizontal workplane illuminance values are on average 11,400 lx, with iLLuminance uniformity Uo and UI of respectively 0.92 and 0.86. Based on test results with a building scale model, four out of nine measuring points inside the model have small errors, four have medium error, and one has a large error of 25%. Most of the obtained errors are within the tolerable range of ±21% from the ideal values. Based on the conducted tests, the constructed mirror box type artificial sky is considered appropriate to be utilised for its purpose.
