Evaluation of Diabetic Rats Behavior after Treatm.nt by <i>Artem.sia herba-alba</i>Relative to Insulin

The aim.of the study was to evaluate the behavioral signs of diabetic rats after treatm.nt by Artem.sia herba-alba (AHA) and insulin. m.thod: Based on the induction of diabetes in wistar rats by intraperitoneal (I/P) injection of 60 m./kg streptozotocin (STZ), then treated by AHA as 20 m. (I/P) and insulin subcutaneously (S/C). The sam.les of rats were: 1) Diabetic control, 2) Injected with insulin, 3) Injected with AHA, 4) Non diabetic rats, which were fostered for 21 day;then weighted and the behavioral tests were conducted. Results: The board hole tests (BHT) showed that: the induced diabetes reduced the cognition of the rats in view of Latency of the First Head Dipping (LFHD) in seconds, num.er of head dipping (NHD) and duration of head dipping (DHD) by 49.3%, while it’s im.roved in AHA and insulin treated rats by 52% and 69% in average respectively. The exploratory activity reduced in diabetic rats by 36%, while AHA and Insulin treated rats increased by 53% and 72% respectively. The rearing test showed an increase of anxiety am.ng diabetic in form.of duration of rearing, num.er of rearing and tim. spend in center by 51.7% in average respectively, while the anxiety reduced after treatm.nt by AHA and insulin by 39% and 47.3% in average respectively. Also the diabetes increased the depression state by 106%, while the treatm.nt by AHA and insulin reduced the depression state by 77% and 88% respectively. And VPT showed that: m.tor im.airm.nt occurred in diabetic cases and im.roved after AHA and insulin treatm.nt.

Dependence of therm.dynam.c quantities at freeze-out on pseudorapidity and collision energy in p-p collisions at LHC energies

The transverse m.m.ntum.distributions of charged hadrons produced in proton-proton collisions at center-of-m.ss energies(√s)of 0.9 TeV and 2.36 TeV,as m.asured by the Cm. detector at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC),have been analyzed within various pseudorapidity classes utilizing the therm.dynam.cally consistent Tsallis *** fitting procedure resulted in the key param.ters,nam.ly,effective tem.erature(T),non-extensivity param.ter(q),and kinetic freezeout volum.(V).Additionally,the m.an transverse m.m.ntum.)and initial tem.erature(T_(i))of the particle source are determ.ned through the fit function and string percolation m.thod,*** alternative m.thod is em.loyed to calculate the kinetic freezeout tem.erature(T_(0))and transverse flow velocity(β_(T))from.***,therm.dynam.c quantities at the freezeout,including energy density(ε),particle density(n),entropy density(s),pressure(P),and squared speed of sound(C_(s)^(2)),are com.uted using the extracted T and *** is also observed that,with a decrease in pseudorapidity,all therm.dynam.c quantities except V and q *** trend is attributed to greater energy transfer along the m.d pseudorapidity.q increases towards higher values of pseudorapidity,indicating that particles close to the beam.axis are far from.***,V rem.ins nearly independent of *** excitation function of these param.ters(q)shows a direct(inverse)correlation with collision *** ε,n,s,and P show a strong dependence on collision energies at low *** verification of the therm.dynam.c inequality ε≥3P suggests the form.tion of a highly dense droplet-like Quark-Gluon Plasm.(QGP).Additionally,the inequality T_(i)>T>T_(0)is explicitly confirm.d,aligning with the evolution of the produced fireball.

The existing study was taken to represent the current inform.tion in order to develop a m.ss-balanced ecosystem.m.del within the resettled m.ritim. boundary area of the Bay of Bengal(BoB),Bangladesh from.July 2016 to June 2017 through ECOPATH approach covering over 90 000 km..A total of 19 functional groups were considered representing all trophic levels in the foodweb where estim.ted trophic interactions between the groups were varied from.1(prim.ry producers and detritus)to 3.45(sharks).The ecotrophic efficiency(EE)of m.st of the consum.rs was greater than 0.80;sym.olizing a largely exploited ecosystem.and high energy transfer from.lower to higher trophic ***,the gross efficiency(0.001 8)and transfer efficiency(11.12%)of the whole system.sym.olizes the“Developing System.”with som.what m.turity ***’s overhead(64.6)and ascendancy(35.4)also designate the ecosystem.s ***,this study determ.nes that the resettled m.ritim. area of BoB reserves significant backup strength to face stress situations having capacity to rapid restoration to the original states.

Characterization of a New DC-Glow Discharge Plasm. Set-Up to Enhance the Electronic Circuits Perform.nce

The (DC-GDPAU) is a DC glow discharge plasm. experim.nt that was designed, established, and operated in the Physics Departm.nt at Ain Sham. University (Egypt). The aim.of this experim.nt is to study and im.rove som. properties of a printed circuit board (PCB) by exposing it to the plasm.. The device consists of cylindrical discharge cham.er with m.vable parallel circular copper electrodes (cathode and anode) fixed inside it. The distance between them.is 12 cm. This plasm. experim.nt works in a low-pressure range (0.15 - 0.70 Torr) for Ar gas with a m.xim.m.DC power supply of 200 W. The Paschen curves and electrical plasm. param.ters (current, volt, power, resistance) characterized to the plasm. have been m.asured and calculated at each cm.between the two electrodes. Besides, the electron tem.erature and ion density are obtained at different radial distances using a double Langm.ir probe. The electron tem.erature (m.KTem.) was kept stable in range 6.58 to 10.44 eV;whereas the ion density (m.nim.) was in range from.0.91 × 1010 cm.sup>−3 to 1.79 × 1010 cm.sup>−3. A digital optical m.croscope (800×) was em.loyed to draw a com.arison between the pre-and after effect of exposure to plasm. on the shaping of the circuit layout. The experim.ntal results show that the electrical conductivity increased after plasm. exposure, also an im.rovem.nt in the adhesion force in the Cu foil surface. A significant increase in the conductivity can be directly related to the position of the sam.le surfaces as well as to the tim. of exposure. This shows the im.ortance of the obtained results in developing the PCBs m.nufacturing that uses in different m.croelectronics devices like those onboard of space vehicles.

Edge influence on herbaceous plant species,diversity and soil properties in sparse oak forest fragm.nts in Iran

Forest edges have been well studied in tem.erate and tropical forests,but less so in open canopy *** investigated edge influence on plant species diversity and soil properties in sparse oak forest *** were collected along three transects from.the edge to the interior of three sm.ll(under 10 ha)and three large(over 10 ha)oak forest fragm.nts in Kerm.nshah Province,*** m.asured herbaceous plants(m.in height)and soil attributes at 0(forest edge),25,50,100 and 150 *** quantified species diversity using the Shannon index,used rarefaction to com.are species richness between two different sizes of fragm.nts and applied non-m.tric m.ltidim.nsional scaling ordination to investigate the variation in species *** estim.ted the distance of edge influence using random.zation *** linear m.xed m.dels with post-hoc Tukey’s HSD tests were used to assess the effects of distance from.edge and fragm.nt size on diversity and soil *** found greater species richness,diversity and evenness at the edge of both sm.ll and large fragm.nts and lower nitrogen and organic carbon at the edge com.ared to the interior of large fragm.nts,with m.st changes within 50 m.of the *** com.osition,organic carbon and total nitrogen were significantly different between sm.ll and large *** findings of significant edge influence on herbaceous plants and soil properties in these sparse forests provide a significant contribution to the literature on edges,especially in relation to herbaceous plants.

Sustainable Bio-Conversion of Rice Straw Waste into High Quality Organic Fertilizer

The aim.of this study is to investigate the effect of different additives including biochar, effective m.cro-organism. (Em., anim.l m.nure and com.ercial m.crobial inoculants on the bioconversion of rice straw. Different com.ost piles were constructed, and each contained 50 kg of rice straw and m.xture of natural rocks to enrich the com.ost nutritional value. The physical, chem.cal and biological param.ters indicating the decom.osition of organic m.terial, m.turation and quality of the organic fertilizer product were investigated during the com.osting process. A rapid increase in com.ost tem.erature was obtained in inoculated piles. All piles reached m.turation after around 42 days. All analysis of the properties of the final com.ost products indicated that it was in the range of the m.tured level and can be used as organic fertilizer without lim.tation. The highest decom.osition rate and highest organic fertilizer quality were obtained in the pile inoculated with Em.and 10% biochar com.ared to other treatm.nts.

This paper presents a design of a data processing circuit for receiving digital signals from.front end-electronic board chips of a specific nuclear detector, encoding and triggering them.via specific optical links operating at a specific frequency. Such processed signals are then fed to a data acquisition system.(DAQ) for analysis. Very high-speed integrated circuit hardware description language (VHDL) algorithm. and codes were created to im.lem.nt this design using field program.able gate array (FPGA) devices. The obtained data were sim.lated using international standard sim.lators.

Background: m.lignant pleural m.sotheliom. is a lethal disease and hence the strong need for identifying new prognostic factors. m.thods: This is a retrospective study including all eligible patients with advanced m.lignant pleural m.sotheliom. (m.m. presenting to National Cancer Institute, Cairo University. Neutrophil lym.hocyte (N/L) ratio was assessed before second line chem.therapy. 2.5 was used as the cutoff point. Endpoints were the assessm.nt of correlation between N/L ratio and clinical response (CR), progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Results: 52 patients (19 stage III and 33 stage IV) m.m.were included and followed up during the period from.July 2009 till Novem.er 2012 with a m.dian follow-up period of 2.6 m.nths. 87.5% of patients with N/L ratio > 2.5 showed progressive disease versus 91.7% in patients with N/L ratio m.nth PFS was 11% for patients with N/L ratio > 2.5 versus 14% for patients with N/L ratio m.nth OS was 72% for patients with N/L ratio > 2.5 versus 66% for patients with N/L ratio m.rker for advanced m.m.treated with second line chem.therapy.

Several studies have shown that phenolic and carotenoid com.ounds protect against oxidative stress, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases and som. types of cancers. The objective of this research was to determ.ne the individual contribution of the m.in phenolic com.ounds from.the papaya fruit skin and the individual contribution of m.in carotenoids from.the pulp for total antioxidant capacity at four ripening stages;and the individual and com.ined radical scavenging ability used the essays DPPH (radical 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picryhydrazyl) and ABTS (radical 2, 20-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline)-6 sulphonic acid). Phenolic acids standards for this study were ferulic (FA), caffeic (CA) and p-coum.ric (pCA) acids and carotenoids studied were Lycopene, β-carotene and β-cryptoxanthin. The phenol that showed the best DPPH· and ABTS·+ radical scavenging ability was CA, with 89.47% and 92.98%, respectively. Lycopene contributed the greatest to the TAC (11.9-43.2). Lycopene also showed the best DPPH· and ABTS ·+ radical scavenging ability with 62.12% and 94.26%, respectively. Antiradical ability of phenolics and carotenoids depended on the structure of the com.ound and its concentration.

Treatm.nt Outcom. of Pharm.cokinetics-Based Dosing of Docetaxel and Fluorouracil in Advanced Head and Neck Cancer Patients

Introduction: Docetaxel, Cisplatin and 5-Fluorouracil (DPF) becam. the standard induction chem.therapy in advanced Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) but associated with high toxicity rate. Several studies reported higher response rates with better tolerability when chem.therapy dose is calculated based on Pharm.cokinetics (PK) versus conventional Body Surface Area (BSA). Patients and m.thods: Thirty nine patients with stage III and IV HNC who received induction DPF were included in the study. Dose of cycle 1 was BSA-based then Docetaxel and 5-FU doses were PK-adjusted starting from.cycle 2 whereas Cisplatin dose was BSA-based throughout the study. Results: After m.dian follow up period of 14 m.nths the m.dian overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) were 15.1 and 10.6 m.nths respectively. Twenty nine patients were available for response assessm.nt. Seven patients (24.1%) achieved com.lete response while partial response encountered in 19 patients (65.5%) with and Overall response rate of 89.6%. Both treatm.nt related side effects and m.rtality significantly decreased after the application of PK dose adjustm.nts (p-value 0.007 and 0.01 respectively). Conclusion: PK-guided dose adjustm.nts of 5-FU and Docetaxel in DPF regim.n can significantly decrease the treatm.nt related side effects and m.rtality without com.rom.sing the tum.r response rate. A random.zed clinical trial is needed to com.are the PK-guided dose adjustm.nt with the standard BSA based protocol.
