Autoimmune diseases(AID)encompass a diverse array of conditions characterized by immune system dysregulation,resulting in aberrant responses of B cells and T cells against the body’s own healthy tissues.Plant extracellular vesicles(PEVs)are nanoscale particles enclosed by phospholipid bilayers,secreted by plant cells,which facilitate intercellular communication by transporting various bioactive molecules.due to their nanoscale structure,safety,abundant sources,low immunogenicity,high yield,biocompatibility,and effective targeting of the colon and liver,PEVs are regarded as a promising platform for the treatment of AID.This review provides a comprehensive summary of PEV biogenesis,physicochemical and biological properties,internalization mechanisms,isolation methods,and their applications in various diseases,with a specific focus on their potential roles in AID.Additionally,we propose engineering approaches and administration methods for PEVs.Finally,we present an overview of the advantages and challenges associated with utilizing PEVs for the treatment of AID.By gaining a comprehensive understanding of PEVs,we anticipate the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for AID.Natural and engineered PEVs hold substantial promise as a valuable resource for innovative technologies in AID treatment.

Strawberry is a major fruit crop worldwide because its nutritional and health benefits to human health,but its productivity is limited by Botrytis cinerea.Sucrose nonfermentation 1-related protein kinase 1(SnRK1)has a defense function against pathogens,but the function of SnRK1 in the defense response to B.cinerea in plants is still unclear.In this study,FaSnRK1a-OE and RNAi fruits were constructed and then inoculated with B.cinerea.The result reveals a positive role of Fa SnRK1a in the regulation of resistance to gray mold.FaSnRK1a affects SA content by regulating FaPAL1 and FaPAL2 expressions.The genes related to the SA signaling pathway(FaTGA1 and FaTGA2.1)were significantly increased/decreased in FaSnRK1a-OE or FaSnRK1a-RNAi fruit,respectively.FaSnRK1a interacted with the FaWRKY33.2 protein and negatively regulated FaWRKY33.2 expression,and FaWRKY33.2 acts as a repressor of disease resistance to B.cinerea.Finally,FaSnRK1a regulates the expression of six PR genes and the activities of antioxidant enzymes to boost defense response after B.cinerea inoculation.Our findings showed that FaSnRK1a increases the resistance of strawberry fruit to B.cinerea via SA signaling pathway and interaction with the FaWRKY33.2 transcription factor.

Carbon materials have shown significant potential as catalysts for lithium-oxygen batteries(LOBs).However,the intrinsic carbon sites are typically inert,necessitating extensive modifications and resulting in a limited density of active sites.Here we present C_(60) as a metal-free cathode catalyst for LOBs,using density functional theory calculations and experimental verifications.The lithiation reactions on the pristine carbon sites of C_(60) are energetically favorable due to its curvedπ-conjugation over the pentagon-hexagon networks.The kinetic analysis specifically reveals low energy barriers for Li_(2)O_(2) decomposition and Li diffusion on C_(60).Consequently,C_(60) exhibits significantly higher catalytic activity than typical carbon materials such as graphene and carbon nanotubes.Our electrochemical measurements validate the predictions,notably demonstrating that the intrinsic activity of C_(60) is comparable to that of noble metals.

Comprehensive evaluation and spatial-temporal evolution characteristics of urban resilience in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle

To clarify the connotations and extensions of urban resilience,this study focuses on the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle with 16 cities as research subjects.A comprehensive evaluation index system was constructed to measure the resilience of each city from 2003 to 2020.The spatial-temporal evolution characteristics were analyzed using Kernel density estimation,standard deviation ellipse,and spatial Markov chain analysis,and the spatial Tobit model was introduced to discover the influencing factors.The results indicate the following:①Urban resilience in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle displays an upward trend,with the center of gravity moving to the southwest,and the polarization phenomenon intensifying.②The urban resilience level in a region has certain spatial and geographical dependence,while the probability of urban resilience transfer differs in adjacent cities with different resilience levels.③Urban centrality,economic scale,openness level,and financial development promote urban resilience,whereas government scale significantly inhibits it.Finally,this paper proposes countermeasures and suggestions to improve the urban resilience of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

The interactions between lignin oligomers and solvents determine the behaviors of lignin oligomers self-assembling into uniform lignin nanoparticles(LNPs).Herein,several alcohol solvents,which readily interact with the lignin oligomers,were adopted to study their effects during solvent shifting process for LNPs’production.The lignin oligomers with widely distributed molecular weight and abundant guaiacyl units were extracted from wood waste(mainly consists of pine wood),exerting outstanding self-assembly capability.Uniform and spherical LNPs were generated in H_(2)O-n-propanol cosolvent,whereas irregular LNPs were obtained in H_(2)O-methanol cosolvent.The unsatisfactory self-assembly performance of the lignin oligomers in H_(2)O-methanol cosolvent could be attributed to two aspects.On one hand,for the initial dissolution state,the distinguishing Hansen solubility parameter and polarity between methanol solvent and lignin oligomers resulted in the poor dispersion of the lignin oligomers.On the other hand,strong hydrogen bonds between methanol solvent and lignin oligomers during solvent shifting process,hindered the interactions among the lignin oligomers for self-assembly.

As the largest intermontane basin in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau(TP),the Qaidam Basin provides unique insight into paleoclimatic change and its relationship with global change and uplift on the TP.In this study,based on morphological comparison,fossil fruit of Cyclocarya from the Early Oligocene Shangganchaigou Formation in the Qaidam Basin is assigned as Cyclocarya cf.weylandii.The discovery of Cyclocarya cf.weylandii demonstrates the occurrence of Cyclocarya in the Oligocene sediment in Qaidam Basin.This is the first record of Cyclocarya fossil of Early Oligocene Age in China and indicates that Cyclocarya has existed on the northeastern TP since at least the Early Oligocene.The living analogues of the current fossil now lives in sub-tropical China,where the East Asian Monsoon is prevalent.Integrating the new fossils and previously reported fossil remains of plants and fishes,it can be inferred that the Early Oligocene Qaidam Basin was primarily influenced by westerly circulation and had a relatively warm and humid climate,which was in sharp contrast to the present-day climate in Qaidam Basin.

Precise responses to changes in light quality are crucial for plant growth and development.For example,hypocotyls of shade-avoiding plants typically elongate under shade conditions.Although this typical shade-avoidance response(TSR)has been studied in Arabidopsis(Arabidopsis thaliana),the molecular mechanisms underlying shade tolerance are poorly understood.Here we report that B.napus(Brassica napus)seedlings exhibit dual shade responses.In addition to the TSR,B.napus seedlings also display an atypical shade response(ASR),with shorter hypocotyls upon perception of early-shade cues.Genome-wide selective sweep analysis indicated that ASR is associated with light and auxin signaling.Moreover,genetic studies demonstrated that phytochrome A(BnphyA)promotes ASR,whereas BnphyB inhibits it.during ASR,YUCCA8 expression is activated by early-shade cues,leading to increased auxin biosynthesis.This inhibits hypocotyl elongation,as young B.napus seedlings are highly sensitive to auxin.Notably,two non-canonical AUXIN/INDOLE-3-ACETIC ACID(Aux/IAA)repressor genes,BnIAA32 and BnIAA34,are expressed during this early stage.BnIAA32 and BnIAA34 inhibit hypocotyl elongation under shade conditions,and mutations in BnIAA32 and BnIAA34 suppress ASR.Collectively,our study demonstrates that the temporal expression of BnIAA32 and BnIAA34 determines the behavior of B.napus seedlings following shade-induced auxin biosynthesis.

The vertically integrated emission rate,centroid altitude,peak emission rate,and peak height of the hydroxyl(OH)airglow were calculated from Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics(TIMED)/Sounding of the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry(SABER)observations to study the seasonal and interannual variations in the intensity and location of the OH emission.The emission rate is inversely proportional to the height of the emission,with the semiannual oscillation dominating at low latitudes and the annual oscillation dominating at higher latitudes.The OH emission is modulated by the quasibiennial oscillation at the equator,and the quasibiennial oscillation signal is weak at other latitudes.We represented the vertical transport of atomic oxygen by using atomic oxygen concentrations obtained from a global atmospheric model,the Specified Dynamics Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model with thermosphere and ionosphere eXtension simulations.Compared with the amplitudes of the migrating diurnal tide(DW1)calculated from temperature data observed by TIMED/SABER,we found that both the vertical transport of atomic oxygen and DW1 amplitudes in the equatorial region exhibit semiannual oscillation and quasibiennial oscillation,which have a strong correlation with the variations in the amplitude and phase of semiannual oscillation and quasibiennial oscillation in OH emission.It is likely that the DW1 affects the vertical transport of atomic oxygen that is involved in the reaction to produce O3,thus affecting the OH emission.We analyzed the relationship between OH emission and solar activity by using the solar radio flux at 10.7 cm as a proxy for solar activity.The results showed that the OH emission is well correlated with solar activity,and the modulation of OH emission by solar activity has a significant latitudinal variation.The small correlation between emission height and solar activity indicates that solar activity modulates OH emission mainly through chemical rather than dynamic processes.

The environmental presence of decabromodiphenyl ether(BDE-209),which is toxic to the male reproductive system,is widespread.The current study investigated its mechanism of toxicity in mice.The results showed,that BDE-209 induced DNA damage,decreased the expression of the promoter of meiosis spermatogenesis-and oogenesis-specific basic helix-loop-helix 1(Sohlh1),meiosis related-factors Lethal(3)malignant brain tumor like 2(L3MBTL2),PIWI-like protein 2(MILI),Cyclin-dependent kinase 2(CDK2),Cyclin A,synaptonemal complex protein 1(SYCP1)and synaptonemal complex protein 3(SYCP3),and caused spermatogenic cell apoptosis,resulting in a decrease in sperm quantity and quality.Furthermore,BDE-209 downregulated the levels of anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome(APC/C),increased the expression of PIWI-like protein 1(MIWI)in the cytoplasm of elongating spermatids,and decreased the nuclear levels of RING finger protein 8(RNF8),ubiquitinated(ub)-H2A/ub-H2B,and Protamine 1(PRM1)/Protamine 2(PRM2),while increasing H2A/H2B nuclear levels in spermatids.The reproductive toxicity was persistent for 50 days following the withdrawal of BDE-209 exposure.The results suggested that BDE-209 inhibits the initiation of meiosis by decreasing the expression of Sohlh1.Furthermore,the reduced expression of L3MBTL2 inhibited the formation of chromosomal synaptonemal complexes by depressing the expression of meiosis regulators affecting the meiotic progression and also inhibited histone ubiquitination preventing the replacement of histones by protamines,by preventing RNF8 from entering nuclei,which affected the evolution of spermatids into mature sperm.
