Noise pollution is becoming a critical health risk for city *** 2020,the COVID-19 pandemic forced many cities to implement several mobility *** restrictions changed human activity patterns and decreased the noise levels and noise pollution that often affect urban *** the number of infections decreased,so did the outdoor activities,influencing the population’s perception of *** paper aims to evaluate the changes in noise levels associated with mobility restrictions between 2020 and 2021 in Guayaquil,*** study used crowdsourcing with the help of smartphones and mobile applications to collect geo-referenced environmental noise *** data was used to generate noise maps in different time ***,noise level maps were created using GIS-based tools to identify the urban areas that experienced the highest noise level variation during the study *** results show that the most significant noise increase occurred at ***,when analyzing noise level changes in different urban areas,the western area of Guayaquil was the one that experienced the most significant noise level *** inform the perception of noise pollution and could potentially serve as a reference for decision-makers during the proposal of public policies that ensure a better quality of life for its citizens.

Impact of seismic design on tunnels in rock-Case histories

The tunnel industry has considered that tunnels,especially tunnels in rock,are naturally resistant to earthquake action,including faulting,shaking,deflection and ground *** the number of case histories of tunnels subject to earthquake action has increased,the industry has started to recognize that,although tunnels in rock have good resistance against earthquakes generating peak ground accelerations(PGA)lower than 0.5 g,it is important to include the dynamic forces and displacements generated by seismic ground motions in the design process to obtain a more reliable *** additional earthquake forces impact the final design,potentially requiring changes to the ground support and additional reinforcement of the concrete lining,as illustrated by case histories presented in this paper.

Current status and trends of carbon-based electrodes for fully solution-processed perovskite solar cells

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs) have revolutionized photovoltaic research. As a result, a certified power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 25.5% was recorded in late 2020. Although this efficiency is comparable with silicon solar cells;some issues remain partially unsolved, such as lead toxicity, instability of perovskite materials under continuous illumination, moisture and oxygen, and degradation of the metallic counter electrodes. As an alternative to tackle this last concern, carbon materials have been recently used, due to their good electrical and thermal conductivity, and chemical stability, which makes them one of the most promising materials to replace metallic counter electrodes in the fabrication of PSCs. This review highlights the recent advances of carbon-based PSCs, where the carbon electrode(CE) is the main *** have become very promising candidates for PSCs;they are mainly fabricated using a simple combination of graphite and carbon black powders embedded in a binder matrix, giving a paste that is then solution-processable, resulting in devices with improved quality stability, when compared to metallic electrodes. In this review, CE’s composition is emphasized, since it can give both, high and lowtemperature processed electrodes, compatible with different device configurations. Finally, the tendencies and opportunities to use CE in PSCs devices are presented.

Understanding the precursor chemistry for one-step deposition of mixed cation perovskite solar cells by methylamine route

Upscaling perovskite solar cell fabrication is one of the key challenges in the pathway for *** slow evaporation of frequently used solvents(DMF or DMSO) limits the fast perovskite layer crystallization,hindering their implementation in large scale deposition ***,methylamine-based precursors have demonstrated rapid crystallization,leading to uniform and specular ***,their application has been limited to MAPbI3 perovskites with limited efficiency and *** this work,we report the requirements for stabilizing α-phase of mixed cation perovskites with high amount of formamidinium by using a methylamine-based *** found that even though,there are many methods for incorporating the methylamine(MA) in precursors or films;the MA content determines stabilization of the α-phase and therefore the viscous-solution route is the only method to incorporate high amounts of *** low amounts of MA,perovskite tend to crystallize in 1D dimensional FA_(3)(MA)PbI5 phases due to the incomplete solvation of the *** contrast,high MA ratio induces a full solvation of the clusters,leading to a rapid crystallization and a full stabilization of the active 3D α-*** results open a window in the development and understanding of new precursors for the fabrication of high efficient,stable and scalable perovskite devices.

A novel simple procedure to consider seismic soil structure interaction effects in 2D models

A method is proposed to estimate the seismic soil-structure-interaction （SSI） effects for use in engineering practice. It is applicable to 2D structures subjected to vertically incident shear waves supported by homogenous half-spaces. The method is attractive since it keeps the simplicity of the spectral approach, overcomes some of the difficulties and inaccuracies of existing classical techniques and yet it considers a physically consistent excitation. This level of simplicity is achieved through a response spectra modification factor that can be applied to the free-field 5%-damped response spectra to yield design spectral ordinates that take into account the scattered motions introduced by the interaction effects. The modification factor is representative of the Transfer Function （TF） between the structural relative displacements and the free- field motion, which is described in terms of its maximum amplitude and associated frequency. Expressions to compute the modification factor by practicing engineers are proposed based upon a parametric study using 576 cases representative of actual structures. The method is tested in 10 cases spanning a wide range of common fundamental vibration periods.

Eosinophilic esophagitis is an immune-allergic pathology of multifactorial etiology(genetic and environmental)that affects both pediatric and adult *** symptoms,which include heartburn,regurgitation,and esophageal stenosis(with dysphagia being more frequent in eosinophilic esophagitis in young adults and children),are similar to those of gastroesophageal reflux disease,causing delays in diagnosis and *** endoscopic findings such as furrows,esophageal mucosa trachealization,and whitish exudates may suggest its presence,this diagnosis should be confirmed histologically based on the presence of more than 15 eosinophils per high-power field and the exclusion of other causes of eosinophilia(parasitic infections,hypereosinophilic syndrome,inflammatory bowel disease,among others)for which treatment could be ***,the 3“D”s(“Drugs,Diet,and Dilation”)are considered the fundamental components of *** first 2 components,which involve the use of proton pump inhibitors,corticosteroids,immunosuppressants and empirical diets or guided food elimination based on allergy tests,are more useful in the initial phases,whereas endoscopic dilation is reserved for esophageal ***,the most important aspects of eosinophilic esophagitis pathophysiology will be reviewed,in addition to evidence for the various treatments.

Developing a predictive maintenance model for vessel machinery

The aim of maintenance is to reduce the number of failures in equipment and to avoid breakdowns that may lead to disruptions during *** objective of this study is to initiate the development of a predictive maintenance solution in the shipping industry based on a computational artificial intelligence model using real-time monitoring *** data analysed originates from the historical values from sensors measuring the vessel´s engines and compressors health and the software used to analyse these data was *** results demonstrated key parameters held a stronger influence in the overall state of the components and proved in most cases strong correlations amongst sensor data from the same *** results also showed a great potential to serve as inputs for developing a predictive model,yet further elements including failure modes identification,detection of potential failures and asset criticality are some of the issues required to define prior designing the algorithms and a solution based on artificial intelligence.A systematic approach using big data and machine learning as techniques to create predictive maintenance strategies is already creating disruption within the shipping industry,and maritime organizations need to consider how to implement these new technologies into their business operations and to improve the speed and accuracy in their maintenance decision making.

Carbon flowers as electrocatalysts for the reduction of oxygen to hydrogen peroxide

Small-scale and decentralized production of H_(2)O_(2)via electrochemical reduction of oxygen is of great benefit,especially for sanitization,air and water purification,as well as for a variety of chemical *** development of low-cost and highperformance catalysts for this reaction remains a key ***-based materials have drawn substantial research efforts in recent years due to their advantageous properties,such as high chemical stability and high tunability in active sites and *** understanding of structure–activity relationships can guide the design of improved *** hypothesize that mass transport to active sites is of great importance,and herein we use carbon materials with unique flower-like superstructures to achieve high activity and selectivity for O2 reduction to H_(2)O_(2).The abundance of nitrogen active sites controlled by pyrolysis temperature resulted in high catalytic activity and selectivity for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).The flower superstructure showed higher performance than the spherical nanoparticles due to greater accessibility to the active *** activation improves the catalysts’performances further,driving the production of H_(2)O_(2)to a record-setting rate of 816 mmol·gcat^(−1)·h^(−1)using a bulk electrolysis *** work demonstrates the development of a highly active catalyst for the sustainable production of H_(2)O_(2)through rational design and synthetic *** understanding from this work provides further insight into the design of future carbon-based electrocatalysts.
