Pre-Training Physics-Informed Neural Network with Mixed Sampling and Its Application in High-Dimensional Systems

Recently,the physics-informed neural network shows remarkable ability in the context of solving the low-dimensional nonlinear partial differential equations.However,for some cases of high-dimensional systems,such technique may be time-consuming and inaccurate.In this paper,the authors put forward a pre-training physics-informed neural network with mixed sampling(pPINN)to address these issues.Just based on the initial and boundary conditions,the authors design the pre-training stage to filter out the set of the misfitting points,which is regarded as part of the training points in the next stage.The authors further take the parameters of the neural network in Stage 1 as the initialization in Stage 2.The advantage of the proposed approach is that it takes less time to transfer the valuable information from the first stage to the second one to improve the calculation accuracy,especially for the high-dimensional systems.To verify the performance of the pPINN algorithm,the authors first focus on the growing-and-decaying mode of line rogue wave in the Davey-Stewartson I equation.Another case is the accelerated motion of lump in the inhomogeneous Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation,which admits a more complex evolution than the uniform equation.The exact solution provides a perfect sample for data experiments,and can also be used as a reference frame to identify the performance of the algorithm.The experiments confirm that the pPINN algorithm can improve the prediction accuracy and training efficiency well,and reduce the training time to a large extent for simulating nonlinear waves of high-dimensional equations.

A universal multifunctional dual cation doping strategy towards stabilized ultra-high nickel cobalt-free lithium layered oxide cathode

Ultra-high nickel cobalt-free lithium layered oxides are promising cathode material for lithium-ion batteries（LIBs） because of their relatively high capacity and low cost.Nevertheless,the high nickel content would induce bulk structure degradation and interfacial environment deterioration,and the absence of Co element reduces the lithium diffusion kinetics,severely limiting the performance liberation of this kind of cathodes.Herein,a multifunctional Ti/Zr dual cation co-doping strategy has been employed to improve the lithium storage performance of LiNi0.9Mn0.1O2（NM91） cathode.On the one hand,the Ti/Zr co-doping weakens the Li+/Ni2+mixing through magnetic interactions due to the inexistence of unpaired electrons for Ti4+and Zr4+,increasing the lithium diffusion rate and suppressing the harmful coexistence of H1 and H2 phases.On the other hand,they enhance the lattice oxygen stability because of the strong Ti-O and Zr-O bonds,inhibiting the undesired H3 phase transition and lattice oxygen loss,improving the bulk structure and cathode-electrolyte interface stability.As a result,the Ti/Zr co-doped NM91（NMTZ） exhibits a 91.2% capacity retention rate after 100 cycles,while that of NM91 is only82.9%.Also,the NMTZ displays better rate performance than NM91 with output capacities of 115 and93 mA h g-1at a high current density of 5 C,respectively.Moreover,the designed NMTZ could enable the full battery to deliver an energy density up to 263 W h kg-1,making the ultra-high nickel cobaltfree lithium layered oxide cathode closer to practical applications.

Erosion control of Chinese loess using polymer SH and ryegrass

The China Loess Plateau is subjected to severe soil erosion triggered by intense rainfall,resulting in significant harm and losses to both human society and the natural surroundings.In this study,a novel technique for managing loess erosion is introduced,which involves the utilization of a combined polymer SH and ryegrass.A comprehensive series of tests were undertaken,including rainfall erosion tests,disintegration experiments,and scanning electron microscopy examinations,to assess the accumulative sediment yield(ASY),disintegration ratio,and microstructural features of both untreated and treated loess samples.The results showed a significant reduction in ASY with increased dry density of untreated loess.Furthermore,the combined technique effectively controlled erosion,limiting ASY to 266.2 g/cm^(2)in 60 minutes.This was approximately one-sixth,one-ninth,and one-fifteenth of the ASY in SH-treated loess(L-SH),ryegrass-treated loess(L-R),and untreated loess,respectively.It resisted disintegration better than ryegrass alone but slightly less than SH.This improvement was due to the combined effect of SH and ryegrass,which reduced raindrop impact,improved loess microstructure,and boosted ryegrass growth.The innovative technique holds the potential to be applied as a field-scale technique in the Loess Plateau region of China.

Research on visual sensitivity characteristics of amorphous silicon photocells

This study delves into the feasibility of using amorphous silicon photocells as photosensitive units for retinal prostheses. Firstly, theoretical simulations coupled with experimental results demonstrated its strong light absorption and quantum efficiency within the 300—800 nm range. Subsequently, measurements on its visual sensitivity properties were conducted. The findings revealed that under photopic vision conditions, the photocells could provide the stimulating current required for the human retinal nerve cells. Finally, the visual spectral sensitivity curve of the amorphous silicon photocells was assessed, and the results indicated that the spectral sensitivity curve of the amorphous silicon photocells closely mirrors the visual function curve of the human eye under photopic conditions, demonstrating a response to light across various wavelengths.

The nature of electron density enhancement over a wide altitude range during ionosphere heating experiments at EISCAT

During the course of ionospheric heating experiments, researchers at the European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association (EISCAT) observed an apparent electron density enhancement. The enhancement extended over a wide range of altitudes, above the reflection altitude of the high-frequency pump wave. However, whether this enhancement actually corresponds to a true enhancement in electron density remains an open question. When the dispersion relation of ion acoustic waves is followed, the frequency ratio of the enhanced ion line to the background ion line suggests that the profile of the effective ion mass may have remained unchanged. Furthermore, the solar radio flux and ion drift velocity indicate no significant changes in the ion species and their densities. In conclusion, the electron density enhancement observed at EISCAT should not, in fact, be considered a true enhancement.

Eu-MOF-Based Fluorescent Ratiometric Sensor by Detecting 3,4,5-Trihydroxybenzoic for Fingerprint Visualization on Porous Objects

Latent fingerprints(LFPs)at the crime scene are served as important clues to locate the trajectory of criminal behavior and portray the characteristics of the suspect.Therefore,visualizing LFPs is of considerable significance.In this work,the europium metal-organic framework(Eu-MOF)sensor was successfully constructed for sensitive detection of gallic acid(3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid,GA)and visualization of the sweat LFPs.The boric-acid-modified Eu-MOF was prepared by using the simple one-pot solvothermal method using Eu as the metal i ion center and 3,5-dicarboxybenzeneboronic acid(BBDC)as the organic ligand.The sensor showed desirable photoluminescent performance through the chelating of BBDC with Eu3+.The sensor exhibited the satisfactory linear relationship to GA in the range of 1 nM to 20 nM with a low detection limit of 0.34 nM under the optimized conditions.The prepared sensor with ideal selectivity to GA was successfully applied for visualizing LFPs on porous substrates with the high contrast and superior stability.Given the good performance of the sensor,all fingerprint images obtained from 1200 samples presented clear friction ridges and met the identification criteria.Notably,the sensor had less impact on the subsequent deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)detection,displaying a promising perspective for applications in extracting physical evidence of site investigation.

Unlocking the potential of ultra-thin two-dimensional antimony materials:Selective growth and carbon coating for efficient potassium-ion storage

Antimony-based anodes have attracted wide attention in potassium-ion batteries due to their high theoretical specific capacities(∼660 mA h g^(-1))and suitable voltage platforms.However,severe capacity fading caused by huge volume change and limited ion transportation hinders their practical applications.Recently,strategies for controlling the morphologies of Sb-based materials to improve the electrochemical performances have been proposed.Among these,the two-dimensional Sb(2D-Sb)materials present excellent properties due to shorted ion immigration paths and enhanced ion diffusion.Nevertheless,the synthetic methods are usually tedious,and even the mechanism of these strategies remains elusive,especially how to obtain large-scale 2D-Sb materials.Herein,a novel strategy to synthesize 2D-Sb material using a straightforward solvothermal method without the requirement of a complex nanostructure design is provided.This method leverages the selective adsorption of aldehyde groups in furfural to induce crystal growth,while concurrently reducing and coating a nitrogen-doped carbon layer.Compared to the reported methods,it is simpler,more efficient,and conducive to the production of composite nanosheets with uniform thickness(3–4 nm).The 2D-Sb@NC nanosheet anode delivers an extremely high capacity of 504.5 mA h g^(-1) at current densities of 100 mA g^(-1) and remains stable for more than 200 cycles.Through characterizations and molecular dynamic simulations,how potassium storage kinetics between 2D Sb-based materials and bulk Sb-based materials are explored,and detailed explanations are provided.These findings offer novel insights into the development of durable 2D alloy-based anodes for next-generation potassium-ion batteries.

Mass-spring model for elastic wave propagation in multilayered van der Waals metamaterials

Multilayered van der Waals（vdW） materials have attracted increasing interest because of the manipulability of their superior optical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties. A mass-spring model（MSM） for elastic wave propagation in multilayered vdW metamaterials is reported in this paper. Molecular dynamics（MD）simulations are adopted to simulate the propagation of elastic waves in multilayered vdW metamaterials. The results show that the graphene/MoS2metamaterials have an elastic wave bandgap in the terahertz range. The MSM for the multilayered vdW metamaterials is proposed, and the numerical simulation results show that this model can well describe the dispersion and transmission characteristics of the multilayered vdW metamaterials. The MSM can predict elastic wave transmission characteristics in multilayered vdW metamaterials stacked with different two-dimensional（2D） materials. The results presented in this paper offer theoretical help for the vibration reduction of multilayered vdW semiconductors.

Shear resistance characteristics and influencing factors of root-soil composite on an alpine metal mine dump slope with different recovery periods

Artificial vegetation restoration is the main measure for vegetation restoration and soil and water conservation in alpine mine dumps on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,China.However,there are few reports on the dynamic changes and the influencing factors of the soil reinforcement effect of plant species after artificial vegetation restoration under different recovery periods.We selected dump areas of the Delni Copper Mine in Qinghai Province,China to study the relationship between the shear strength and the peak displacement of the root-soil composite on the slope during the recovery period,and the influence of the root traits and soil physical properties on the shear resistance characteristics of the root-soil composite via in situ direct shear tests.The results indicate that the shear strength and peak displacement of the rooted soil initially decreased and then increased with the increase of the recovery period.The shear strength of the rooted soil and the recovery period exhibited a quadratic function relationship.There is no significant function relationship between the peak displacement and the recovery period.Significant positive correlations(P0.05)between the shear strength of the root-soil composite and the root length density,and the root volume ratio of the coarse roots to the fine roots.A significant negative linear correlation(P0.05)with the root traits,other soil physical property indices(the moisture content and dry density of the soil),and slope gradient.The coarse-grain content is the main factor controlling the peak displacement of the rooted soil.
