Carotenoids,such asβ-carotene,accumulate in chromoplasts of various fleshy fruits,awarding them with colors,aromas,and *** Orange(CmOr)gene controlsβ-carotene accumulation in melon fruit by posttranslationally enhancing carotenogenesis and repressingβ-carotene turnover in *** isomerase(CRTISO)isomerizes yellow prolycopene into red lycopene,a prerequisite for further metabolism intoβ-*** comparatively analyzed the developing fruit transcriptomes of orange-colored melon and its two isogenic EMS-induced mutants,low-β(Cmor)and yofi(Cmcrtiso).The Cmor mutation in low-βcaused a major transcriptomic change in the mature *** contrast,the Cmcrtiso mutation in yofi significantly changed the transcriptome only in early fruit developmental *** findings indicate that melon fruit transcriptome is primarily altered by changes in carotenoid metabolic flux and plastid conversion,but minimally by carotenoid composition in the ripe *** of the differentially expressed genes into functional groups revealed an association between fruit carotenoid metabolic flux with the maintenance of the photosynthetic apparatus in fruit ***,large numbers of thylakoid localized photosynthetic genes were differentially expressed in low-β.CmOR family proteins were found to physically interact with light-harvesting chlorophyll a–b binding proteins,suggesting a new role of CmOR for chloroplast maintenance in melon *** study brings more insights into the cellular and metabolic processes associated with fruit carotenoid accumulation in melon fruit and reveals a new maintenance mechanism of the photosynthetic apparatus for plastid development.

Hepatitis C virus cures after direct acting antiviral-related drug-induced liver injury: Case report

The United States Food and Drug Administration recently warned that the direct acting antiviral(DAA) combination hepatitis C virus(HCV) treatment of Paritaprevir, Ombitasvir, Dasabuvir, Ritonavir, and Ribavirin(PODr + R) can cause severe liver injury in patients with advanced liver disease. Drug induced liver injury was observed in a small number of patients with decompensated cirrhosis treated with other DAAs, but has not been reported in patients with compensated cirrhosis. We report a case of a 74-year-old woman with chronic HCV and Child-Pugh class A cirrhosis(compensated cirrhosis) treated with PODr + R. The patient presented on day 14 of PODr + R therapy with jaundice and new-onset ascites. Her total bilirubin level increased to 23 mg/dL and international normalized ratio rose to 1.65, while aminotransferase levels remained relatively stable. Hepatitis C treatment was discontinued on day 24 and she gradually recovered. Follow-up testing showed that she achieved a sustained virologic response. In conclusion, hepatic decompensation developed within two weeks of starting treatment withPODr + R in a patient with Child-Pugh class A cirrhosis and was characterized by jaundice and ascites with stable aminotransferase levels. Careful monitoring is warranted in patients with HCV-related cirrhosis treated with PODr + R.

Evaluation of differences in injury patterns according to seat position in trauma victims survived traffic accidents

Purpose： Investigation of injury patterns epidemiology among car occupants may help to develop different therapeutic approach according to the seat position. The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare differences in the incidence of serious injuries, between occupants in different locations in private cars. Methods： A retrospective study including trauma patients who were involved in motor vehicle accidents and admitted alive to 20 hospitals （6 level I trauma centers and 14 level II trauma centers）. We examined the incidence of injures with abbreviated injury score 3 and more, and compared their occurrence be- tween seat locations. Results： The study included 28,653 trauma patients, drivers account for 60.8% （17,417）. Front passenger mortality was 0.47% higher than in drivers. Rear seat passengers were at greater risk （10.26%） for trau- matic brain injuries than front seat passengers （7.48%） and drivers （7.01%）. Drivers are less likely to suffer from serious abdominal injuries （3.84%） compared to the passengers （front passengers - 5.91%, rear passengers - 5.46%）. Conclusion： Out of victims who arrived alive to the hospital, highest mortality was found in front seat passengers. The rate of serious chest injuries was higher as well. Rear seat passengers are at greater risk for serious traumatic brain injuries. All passengers have a greater incidence of abdominal injuries. These findings need to be addressed in order to develop ＂customized＂ therapeutic policy in trauma victims.

Purpose: Pelvic fracture evaluation with abdominopelvic computed tomography (CT) and formal CT cystography for rule out of urine bladder injury have been commonly employed in pediatric trauma patients. The additional delayed imaging required to obtain optimal CT cystography is, however, associated with increased doses of ionizing radiation to pelvic organs and represent a significant risk in the pediatric population for future carcinogenic risk. We hypothesized that avoidance of routine CT cystography among pediatric pelvic fracture victims would not result in an appreciable rate of missed bladder injuries and would aid in mitigating the radiation exposure risk associated with these additional ***: A retrospective cohort study involving blunt trauma pelvic fractures among pediatric trauma patients (age<14) between the years 1997 and 2016 was conducted utilizing the Israeli National Trauma Registry. Statistical analysis was performed using SAS statistical software version 9.4 via the tests of Chisquare test and two-sided Fisher’s exact test. Ap value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically ***: A total of 1072 children were identified from the registry for inclusion. Mean age of patients was 7.7 years (range 0-14) and 713 (66.5%) were male. Overall mortality in this population was 4.1% (44/1072). Only 2.1% (23) of pediatric patients with pelvic fractures had bladder injury identified, with just 9 children having intraperitoneal bladder rupture (0.8% of all the patients).Conclusion: The vast majority of blunt pediatric trauma victims with pelvic fractures do not have urine bladder injuries. Based on our study results we do not recommend the routine utilization of CT cystography in this unique population.

The role of 3-dimensional ultrasound for the diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies

Objectives: To demonstrate the value of 3-dimensional (3-D) ultrasound (US) in the diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies. Methods: Fifty one infertile patients referred to our US unit during 12 years period, with suspected diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies by previous HSG or 2D US examinations, were evaluated by transvaginal 3-D US. The 3-D US diagnoses were compared to the initial HSG diagnosis, and to hysteroscopic evaluation when performed. Results: 3-D scan confirmed the initial HSG diagnosis in 27 out of 51 (52.9%) women. The concordancy rates between the initial diagnosis by HSG and 3-D US results were 30.4% for bicornuate uterus;75% for arcuate uterus;83% for septate uterus;and 80% for unicornuate uterus. Of the 13 cases with normal HSG and suspicious 2-D US, 30.8% were found to be normal by 3D sonography. In cases where hysteroscopy was done, the results were 100% in concordance with the 3-D US evaluations. Conclusions: 3-D US is an accurate test for the assessment of uterine congenital anomalies. Its ability to concomitantly visualized, the external uterine contour with the uterine cavity on the same coronal plan, makes this noninvasive, easy to perform test the procedure of choice for the diagnosis of uterine anomalies.

调查瓜列当对新疆甜瓜的危害,探索瓜列当化学防控方法,为瓜列当防治措施制定及实施提供技术支撑。以新疆伽师县4个甜瓜主产乡镇为代表,调查瓜列当对甜瓜的危害程度及规律。结合新疆甜瓜栽培模式,进行2种除草剂各2种浓度对瓜列当的防治试验。调查的4个乡镇瓜列当都有不同程度的发生。甜瓜播种后50 d直到收获,都有瓜列当寄生危害。75%磺酰磺隆和甲基咪草烟都可用于对甜瓜列当的防治,磺酰磺隆效果优于甲基咪草烟。结合浇水冲施37.5 g a.i.·hm-275%磺酰磺隆,是最有效的新疆甜瓜瓜列当化学防治的施用方式和浓度。

Background: Iron deficiency anemia in infants is the most common micronutrient deficiency worldwide. The main cause is low iron intake in the presence of accelerated physiologic growth rate. Objective: The current study aimed at prospectively comparing the efficacy of iron III hydroxide polymaltose syrup (IPS) versus iron III hydroxide polymaltose drops (IPD) in treating iron deficiency among infants attending the hematology outpatient clinic. Our hypothesis was that IPS would be less effective possibly related to the difficulty of giving the medication. Methods: Participants diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia between 11-24 months were randomly assigned to receive either IPS or IPD for 3 months. The main outcome parameter was hemoglobin blood level, while the secondary outcome parameters were: 1) iron;2) ferritin;3) transferrin (i.e.?total iron binding capacity);4) mean corpuscular volume;and 5) red blood cell distribution width. Results: Out of the 104 recruited infants, 55 (52%) completed the study: 29 in the IPS group and26 inthe IPD group. There was no significant difference in the main outcome parameter at either 1 or 3 months of treatment: mean hemoglobin was 10.5 versus 10.7 g/dL within a 1 month treatment, P = 0.4;mean hemoglobin was 11.0 versus 11.1 g/dL within a 3 months of treatment, P = 0.59. Likewise, no significant differences were found with respect to the occurrence of side effects. Conclusion: Oral IPD and IPS are equally effective in treating iron deficiency anemia in infants aged 11 - 24 months.

【目的】基于聚乙烯袋水培法研究甜瓜不同品种对列当的抗性鉴定方法,为甜瓜抗列当品种选育提供技术支撑。【方法】利用聚乙烯袋水培法,研究不同甜瓜品种根系分泌物对埃及列当种子萌发诱导活性及寄生的影响,评价甜瓜品种抗性。【结果】聚乙烯袋水培9个接种埃及列当种子的甜瓜品种,其根系分泌物都可刺激列当种子发芽,但瘤状茎数量差异显著。用瘤状茎数量评价9个甜瓜品种对埃及列当的抗性,结果表明,参试甜瓜品种对列当寄生的抗感性存在差异,k2-2、k2-7及CEZ这3个品种抗性优于其他品种。【结论】聚乙烯袋水培法可作为有效的甜瓜列当抗性室内鉴定方法。
