Association between operative position and postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy

BACKGROUND Bariatric surgery is one of the most effective ways to treat morbid obesity,and postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV)is one of the common complications after bariatric *** present,the mechanism of the high incidence of PONV after weight-loss surgery has not been clearly explained,and this study aims to investigate the effect of surgical position on PONV in patients undergoing bariatric *** To explore the effect of the operative position during bariatric surgery on *** Data from obese patients,who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy(LSG)in the authors’hospital between June 2020 and February 2022 were divided into 2 groups and retrospectively *** logistic regression analysis and the t-test were used to study the influence of operative position on *** There were 15 cases of PONV in the supine split-leg group(incidence rate,50%)and 11 in the supine group(incidence rate,36.7%)(P=0.297).The mean operative duration in the supine split-leg group was 168.23±46.24 minutes and 140.60±32.256 minutes in the supine group(Pnalysis revealed that operative position was not an independent risk factor for PONV(odds ratio=1.192,95%confidence interval:0.376-3.778,P=0.766).CONCLUSION Operative position during LSG may affect PONV;however,the difference in the incidence of PONV was not statistically *** position should be carefully considered for obese patients before surgery.

Hypolipidemic activity and mechanism of active components of Dracocephalum moldavica L. tea

Hyperlipidemia is associated with many diseases and considered the main contributing factor in the development of metabolic syndrome. The traditional Mongolian medicine Dracocephalum moldavica L. (D. moldavica) is commonly consumed as a tea (non-Camellia tea) for the prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease， hypertension， atherosclerosis， and other diseases. Here， we attempted to investigate the hypolipidemic activity and mechanisms underlying the active components of D. moldavica. First， the mechanism underlying the lipid accumulation-reducing effects of the D. moldavica ethanol extract was determined using in vitro experiments， and four polar fractions were screened for activity. Then， the effect of the ethyl acetate fraction of D. moldavica (EAD) on lowering blood lipid was confirmed in vivo. The combination of network pharmacological and serum pharmacochemistry analyses showed that apigenin， luteolin， and naringenin of EAD existed in prototype form in the drug-containing serum of rats. We also determined the content of the three active ingredients in EAD. Finally， in vitro experiments showed that apigenin， luteolin， and naringenin improved oleic acid-induced lipid accumulation in HepG2 cells by regulating the PPAR signaling pathway (PPARα， CPT1， and FABP3). Our findings provide mechanistic insights and application prospects for the prevention and treatment of hypolipidemia using D. moldavica.

Plants affect the horizontal transmission of a new densovirus infecting the green peach aphid Myzus persicae by modulating honeydew production

In a tritrophic context of plant-insect-entomopathogen,plants play important roles in modulating the interaction of insects and their pathogenic ***,the influence of plants on the transmission of insect viruses has been mainly studied on baculoviruses and some Rna viruses,whereas the impact of plants on other insect viruses is largely ***,we identified a new densovirus infecting the green peach aphid Myzus persicae and tested whether and how host plants influence the transmission of the aphid *** complete single-stranded Dna genome of the virus,*** densovirus 2,is 5727 nt and contains inverted terminal *** and phylogenetic analysis indicated that the virus was distinct from other a few identified aphid *** virus abundance was detected highly in the intestinal tract of aphids,compared with the lower level of it in other tissues including head,embryo,and *** and pepper plants had no obvious effect on the vertical transmission and saliva-mediated horizontal transmission of the ***,the honeydew-mediated horizontal transmission among aphids highly depended on host plants(65%on cabbages versus 17%on peppers).Although the virus concentration in the honeydew produced by aphids between 2 plants was similar,the honeydew production of the infected aphids reared on peppers was dramatically *** together,our results provide evidence that plants influence the horizontal transmission of a new densovirus in an aphid population by modulating honeydew secretion of aphids,suggesting plants may manipulate the spread of an aphid-pathogenic densovirus in nature.

Promoting electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction to ammonia via dopant boron on two-dimensional materials

Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR) is a key process for producing energy efficient and environment friendly ammonia. Boron-doped two-dimensional materials are highly promising as NRR ***, the interaction between doped boron and matrix materials on NRR catalytic performance is still unclear,which is limiting the development of catalysts containing boron for NRR. Here, NRR on different boron-doped twodimensional(2D) materials was explored by first principle theory. It is found that adsorption energy of intermediate*NNH(E*NNH) can be used as a descriptor to characterize the catalytic activity for NRR. Boron-adsorbed black phosphorus(B-BP) is demonstrated showing excellent NRR catalytic activity and suppressing hydrogen evolution reaction. It is disclosed that the excellent catalytic performance of boron-doped structures comes from a proper quantitatively electron transfer(0.8e) between nitrogen in*NNH and the active site boron atom. This work not only established a descriptor for NRR catalytic activity on B-doped 2D materials, but also screened out a potential NRR catalyst. More importantly, the intrinsic reason and mechanism of high catalytic activity of boron-doped structures were proposed. This work provides a design principle for exploring high-performance NRR electrocatalysts containing boron.

Dear Editor,W e write to present a case report of transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy(TPRK)without mitomycin-C(MMC)for irregular astigmatism after femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis(FS-LASIK)flap *** informed consent was obtained from the patient to allow the publication of this case and associated accompanying *** study was conducted in accordance with the Helsinki *** is a surgical procedure which uses an excimer laser to ablation of both the corneal epithelium and stroma,which is widely used in clinic[1-2].The procedure may be conducted in cases where there is notable topographic irregularity or scarring following complications with the LASIK *** haze is a potential complication following TPRK,and the use of MMC as a prophylactic agent against postoperative corneal haze has been demonstrated to significantly reduce its formation after TPRK/photorefractive keratectomy(PRK).

Alleviation of the plastic deformation of gel ink under strong stress through an esterification of xanthan gum reinforcing its double helix structure

As a natural organic polymer,xanthan gum(XG)can alleviate the plastic deformation of gel ink under strong stress and realize the reasonable regulation of the rheological properties of gel ***,as the double-helix structure connected by hydrogen bonds cannot resist the mechanical environment of strong stress,XG shows poor shear *** this study,a polymer gel with interpenetrating polymer network structure was prepared by esterifying XG,taking polystyrene maleic anhydride(SMA)as the *** addition to retaining the excellent rheological properties of XG,the generated polymer gel also exhibited high shear *** optimal addition amount of the esterification reaction modifier was determined as mXG:mSMA=5:3 according to the gel ink *** this amount,the viscosity of the modified xanthan gum(SXG)gel increased to 1578.8 mPa·s and 100.7 mPa·s at shear rates of 4 s1 and 383 s1,respectively,and the shear resistance increased more than 2 times compared to the unmodified *** is because of the ester bond formed by esterification that the reaction strengthens the interaction between molecular segments,enabling the new gel to resist to strong mechanical *** new polymer gel studied in this paper and the proposed mechanism of action provide new insights for the development of high-end gel ink and also provide theoretical support for the study of rheological properties of non-Newtonian fluids.

Superwetting Ag/α-Fe_(2)O_(3) anchored mesh with enhanced photocatalytic and antibacterial activities for efficient water purification

Superwetting materials have drawn unprecedented attention in the treatment of oily wastewater due to their preferable anti-fouling property and selective oil/water ***,it is still a challenge to fabricate multifunctional and environmentally friendly materials,which can be stably applied to purify the actual complicated ***,a Ag/Ag/α-Fe_(2)O_(3) heterostructure anchored copper mesh was intentionally synthesized using a facile two-step hydrothermal *** resultant mesh with superhydrophilicity and underwater superoleophobicity was capable of separating various oil/water mixtures with superior separation efﬁciency and high permeationﬂux driven by ***ﬁting from the joint effects of the smaller band gap of Ag/α-Fe_(2)O_(3) heterojunction,inherent antibacterial capacity of Ag/α-Fe_(2)O_(3) and Ag nanoparticles,favorable conductive substrate,as well as the hierarchical structure with superwettability,such mesh presented remarkably enhanced degradation capability toward organic dyes under visible light irradiation and antibacterial activity against both Escherichia coli(***)and Staphylococcus aureus(***)compared with the pure Ag/α-Fe_(2)O_(3) coated ***,the mesh exhibited bifunctional water puriﬁcation performance,in which organic dyes were eliminated simultaneously from water during oil/water separation in oneﬁltration *** importantly,this mesh behaved exceptional chemical resistance,mechanical stability and long-term ***,this material with multifunctional integration may hold promising potential for steady water puriﬁcation in practice.

Garnet-type solid-state batteries(SSBs)are considered to be one of the most promising candidates to realize next-generation lithium metal batteries with high energy density and ***,the dendrite-induced short-circuit and the poor interfacial contact impeded the practical ***,interface engineering to achieve low interfacial resistance without high temperature calcination was developed,which li_(6.4)La_(3)Zr_(1.4)Ta_(0.6)O_(12)(LLZTO)was simply coated with complex hydride(li_(4)(BH_(4))_(3)I(3L1L))in various mass ratios n(li_(4)(BH_(4))_(3)I)-(100−n)LLZTO(10≤n≤40).The interfacial conductivity increases by more than three orders of magnitude from 8.29×10^(−6)S·cm^(−1)to 1.10×10^(−2)S·cm^(−1).Symmetric li cells exhibit a high critical current density(CCD)of 4.0 mA·cm^(−2) and an excellent cycling stability for 200 h at 4.0 mA·cm^(−2).SSBs with polymeric sulfur-polyacrylonitrile(SPAN)cathode achieve a high discharge capacity of 1149 mAh·g^(−1) with a capacity retention of 91%after 100 cycles(0.2 C).This attempt guides a simple yet efficient strategy for obtaining a stable li/LLZTO interface,which would promote the development of solid-state batteries.
