Background:Traditional Chinese medicine is promising for managing challenging and complex disorders,including cancer,and in particular,saffron is applied in treating various cancer ***,its potential therapeutic efficacy and active components in managing squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck(HNSCC)remain unclear ***:Using network pharmacology approaches,active ingredients of saffron,their target genes,and HNSCC-related genes were *** analyses were conducted for determining molecular functions and pathways enriched by genes that overlapped between the saffron target gene set and the HNSCC gene *** the four known active ingredients of saffron,crocetin was found to have the strongest inhibitory impact on HNSCC,based on the findings of cell viability and migration ***,the potential target genes of crocetin in HNSCC cells were examined using molecular docking experiments and were confirmed by *** s:Four active ingredients of saffron and 184 of their target genes were ***,a total of 34 overlapping saffron-/HNSCC-associated targets related to the four active ingredients were screened,and crocetin was chosen for further investigation because it had the strongest inhibitory effect on HNSCC *** docking experiments indicated that eSR1 and CCND1 were the target genes of *** results were confirmed through qPCR analysis,in which crocetin was found to lower the expression of the eSR1 and CCND1 genes in AMC-HN-8 and FaDu ***:According to our results,crocetin is a primary active anti-cancer component of saffron that may have potential in the development of novel HNSCC-treating ***,more thorough molecular research is necessary for confirming these results and elucidating the anti-cancer mechanism underlying saffron.

Metal-organic framework/organosilica hybrid membranes on tubular ceramic substrates have shown great potential for the implementation of membrane technology in practical gas separation projects due to their higher permeance compared to commercial ***,the selectivities of the reported membranes are ***,we have incorporated urea-modulated metal-organic frameworks into organosilica membranes to greatly enhance its separation *** urea-modulated metal-organic frameworks exhibit less-defined edges of crystallographic facets and high defect *** can be well-dispersed in the organosilica layer,which substantially suppresses the interfacial defects between metal-organic frameworks and organosilica,which is beneficial for improving the selectivity of membranes for gas *** results have shown that the enhanced ideal selectivity of H_(2)/CH_(4) was 165 and that of CO_(2)/CH_(4) was 43,with H_(2) permeance of about 1.25×10^(−6) mol·m^(−2)·s^(−1)·Pa^(−1) and CO_(2) permeance of 3.27×10^(−7) mol·m^(−2)·s^(−1)·Pa^(−1) at 0.2 MPa and 25℃.In conclusion,the high level of hybrid membranes can be used to separate H_(2)(or CO_(2))from the binary gas mixture H_(2)/CH_(4)(or CO_(2)/CH_(4)),which is important for gas separation in practical ***,the simple and feasible modulation of metal-organic framework is a promising strategy to tune different metal-organic frameworks for membranes according to the actual demands.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),a prevalent solid carcinoma of significant concern,is an aggressive and often fatal disease with increasing global incidence rates and poor therapeutic *** etiology and pathological progression of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)-related HCC is multifactorial and ***,no single animal model can accurately mimic the full NASH-related HCC pathological progression,posing considerable challenges to transition and mechanistic ***,a novel conditional inducible wild-type human HRAS overexpressed mouse model(HRAS-HCC)was established,demonstrating 100%morbidity and mortality within approximately one month under normal dietary and lifestyle *** symptoms of HCC such as ascites,thrombus,internal hemorrhage,jaundice,and lung metastasis were successfully replicated in ***-depth pathological features of NASH-related HCC were demonstrated by pathological staining,biochemical analyses,and typical marker gene *** murine anti-PD-1 and sorafenib treatment effectively prolonged mouse survival,further confirming the accuracy and reliability of the *** on protein-protein interaction(PPI)network and RNA sequencing analyses,we speculated that overexpression of HRAS may initiate the THBS1-COL4A3 axis to induce NASH with severe fibrosis,with subsequent progression to ***,our study successfully duplicated natural sequential progression in a single murine model over a very short period,providing an accurate and reliable preclinical tool for therapeutic evaluations targeting the NASH to HCC continuum.

The BL07U beamline is a new extreme ultraviolet and soft X-ray beamline housed in the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Beamlines are used in nano-resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(nano-ARPeS), spin-resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(spin-ARPeS), X-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy, and X-ray magnetic linear dichroism spectroscopy for certain scientific research. The BL07U beamline, which is based on a pair of elliptical polarized undulators and a variable-included-angle plane-grating monochromator, delivers circularly or linear polarized X-rays within the energy range of 50–2000 eV. The beamline features two branches: One dedicated to nano-ARPeS,which has a minimum spot size of only ~ 200 nm, and another branch comprising spin-ARPeS, a vector magnetic field, and superconductive magnetic end-station.

Chain Dynamics Heterogeneity in Plasticized Poly(vinyl butyral)(PVB) as elucidated by Solid-State NMR

The chain dynamics heterogeneity of the poly(vinyl butyral)(PVB) plasticized by triethylene glycol bis(2-ethylhexa noate)(TeG-eH) was investigated by various solid-state NMR *** plasticized PVB shows two domains in distinct molecular dynamics differences,namely,rigid and soft domains,where the latter is the plasticizer-rich *** time domain low field NMR was first used to investigate the dynamics heterogeneity of the plasticized PVB,and the results show the decreasing activated energy of components in the soft domain of plasticized PVB(e_a=20.2 kJ/mol) as compared with that of the pristine one(e_a=24.3 kJ/mol).Detailed dynamics heterogeneity was obtained by high-field NMR with site-specific *** quadrupole-echo ~2H-NMR was adopted to elucidate the dynamics heterogeneity of the vinyl alcohol(VA) units,where only the hydroxyl group of VA is *** ~1H-^(13)C WISe NMR spectra show that there is not much difference in the mobility of the VB unit in PVB with and without plasticizer,whereas the glass transition temperature differed by approximately 53℃.This is further supported by Torchia's T_1 relaxation *** origin of such an unusual phenomenon is attributed to the critical role of the remaining VA(~22%) in the soft domain,where the VA units locally aggregate through hydrogen ***,the existence of a mobility gradient in the VB unit has been ***,the mobility difference for VB with different stereo-geometry(meso or racemic conformation) is observed for the first *** indicates the importance of modulating the ratio of meso over racemic VB for controlling the macroscopic perfo rmance of PVB.

We consider the sparse identification of multivariate ARX systems, i.e., to recover the zero elements of the unknown parameter matrix. We propose a two-step algorithm, where in the first step the stochastic gradient (SG) algorithm is applied to obtain initial estimates of the unknown parameter matrix and in the second step an optimization criterion is introduced for the sparse identification of multivariate ARX systems. Under mild conditions, we prove that by minimizing the criterion function, the zero elements of the unknown parameter matrix can be recovered with a finite number of observations. The performance of the algorithm is testified through a simulation example.
