Pose-invariant facial expression recognition(FER)is an active but challenging research topic in computer vision.Especially with the involvement of diverse observation angles,FER makes the training parameter models inconsistent from one view to another.This study develops a deep global multiple-scale and local patches attention(GMS-LPA)dual-branch network for pose-invariant FER to weaken the influence of pose variation and selfocclusion on recognition accuracy.In this research,the designed GMS-LPA network contains four main parts,i.e.,the feature extraction module,the global multiple-scale(GMS)module,the local patches attention(LPA)module,and the model-level fusion model.The feature extraction module is designed to extract and normalize texture information to the same size.The GMS model can extract deep global features with different receptive fields,releasing the sensitivity of deeper convolution layers to pose-variant and self-occlusion.The LPA module is built to force the network to focus on local salient features,which can lower the effect of pose variation and self-occlusion on recognition results.Subsequently,the extracted features are fused with a model-level strategy to improve recognition accuracy.Extensive experimentswere conducted on four public databases,and the recognition results demonstrated the feasibility and validity of the proposed methods.

Cationic engineered nanodiamonds for efficient antibacterial surface with strong wear resistance

The spread of diseases caused by bacterial adhesion and immobilization in public places constitutes a serious threat to public health.Prevention of bacteria spread by the construction of an antibacterial surface takes precedence over post-infection treatment.Herein,we demonstrate an effective antibacterial surface with strong wear resistance by constructing cationic engineered nanodiamonds(C-NDs).The C-NDs with positive surface potentials interact effectively with bacteria through electrostatic interactions,where the C-NDs act on the phospholipid bilayer and lead to bacterial membrane collapse and rupture through hydrogen bonding and residual surface oxygen-containing reactive groups.In this case,bactericidal rate of 99.99%and bacterial biofilm inhibition rate of more than 80%can be achieved with the C-NDs concentration of 1 mg/mL.In addition,the C-NDs show outstanding antibacterial stability,retaining over 87%of the antibacterial effect after stimulation by adverse environments of heat,acid,and external abrasion.Therefore,an antibacterial surface with high wear resistance obtained by integrating C-NDs with commercial plastics has been demonstrated.The antibacterial surface with a mass fraction of 1 wt.%C-NDs improved abrasion resistance by 3981 times,with 99%killing of adherent bacteria.This work provides an effective strategy for highly efficient antibacterial wear-resistant surface,showing great practical applications in public health environments.

In this paper,the irrational-behavior-proof conditions in a class of stochastic dynamic games over event trees are presented.Four kinds of irrational-behavior-proof conditions are proposed by the imputation distribution procedure,and their relationships are discussed.More specific properties for the general transformation of characteristic functions are developed,based on which,the irrational-behavior-proof conditions are proved to be true in a transformed cooperative game.

In recent years, the coastal region of Southeast China has witnessed a significant increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme rainfall events associated with landfalling typhoons. The hilly and mountainous terrain of this area, combined with rapid rainfall accumulation, has led to a surge in flash floods and severe geological hazards. On August 10, 2019, Typhoon Lekima made landfall in Zhejiang Province, China, and its torrential rainfall triggered extensive landslides, resulting in substantial damage and economic losses. Utilizing high-resolution satellite images, we compiled a landslide inventory of the affected area, which comprises a total of 2,774 rainfallinduced landslides over an area of 2965 km2. The majority of these landslides were small to mediumsized and exhibited elongated, clustered patterns. Some landslides displayed characteristics of high-level initiation, obstructing or partially blocking rivers, leading to the formation of debris dams. We used the inventory to analyze the distribution pattern of the landslides and their relationship with topographical, geological, and hydrological factors. The results showed that landslide abundance was closely related to elevation, slope angle, faults, and road density. The landslides were predominantly located in hilly and low mountainous areas, with elevations ranging from 150 to 300 m, slopes of 20 to 30 degrees, and a NE-SE aspect. Notably, we observed the highest Landslide Number Density(LND) and Landslide Area Percentage(LAP) in the rhyolite region. Landslides were concentrated within approximately 4 km on either side of fault zones, with their size and frequency negatively correlated with distances to faults, roads, and river systems. Furthermore, under the influence of typhoons, regions with denser vegetation cover exhibited higher landslide density, reaching maximum values in shrubland areas. Objective To investigate the effect of isorhamnetin on the pathology of rheumatoid arthritis(RA).Methods Tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α-induced fibroblast-like synoviocytes(FLS)was exposed to additional isorhamnetin(10,20 and 40µmol/L).Overexpression vectors for matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP2)or MMP9 or SRC were transfected to explore their roles in isorhamnetin-mediated RA-FLS function.RA-FLS viability,migration,and invasion were evaluated.Moreover,a collagen-induced arthritis(CIA)rat model was established.Rats were randomly divided to sham,CIA,low-,medium-,and high-dosage groups using a random number table(n=5 in each group)and administed with normal saline or additional isorhamnetin[2,10,and 20 mg/(kg·day)]for 4 weeks,respectively.Arthritis index was calculated and synovial tissue inflammation was determined in CIA rats.The levels of MMP2,MMP9,TNF-α,interleukin-6(IL-6),and IL-1β,as well as the phosphorylation levels of SRC,extracellular regulated kinase(ERK),and cyclic adenosine monophosphate response element-binding(CREB),were detected in RA-FLS and synovial tissue.Molecular docking was also used to analyze the binding of isorhamnetin to SRC.Results In in vitro studies,isorhamnetin inhibited RA-FLS viability,migration and invasion(P<0.05).Isorhamnetin downregulated the levels of MMP2,MMP9,TNF-α,IL-6,and IL-1βin RA-FLS(P<0.05).The overexpression of either MMP2 or MMP9 reversed isorhamnetin-inhibited RA-FLS migration and invasion,as well as the levels of TNF-α,IL-6,and IL-1β(P<0.05).Furthermore,isorhamnetin bound to SRC and reduced the phosphorylation of SRC,ERK,and CREB(P<0.05).SRC overexpression reversed the inhibitory effect of isorhamnetin on RA-FLS viability,migration and invasion,as well as the negative regulation of MMP2 and MMP9(P<0.05).In in vivo studies,isorhamnetin decreased arthritis index scores(P<0.05)and alleviated synovial inflammation.Isorhamnetin reduced the levels of MMP2,MMP9,TNF-α,IL-6,and IL-1β,as well as the phosphorylation of SRC,ERK,and CREB in synovial tissue(P<0.05).Notably,the inhibit

The outbreak of COVID-19 has drawn great attention around the world.SARS-CoV-2 is a highly infectious virus with occult transmission by many mutations and a long incubation period.In particular,the emergence of asymptomatic infections has made the epidemic even more severe.Therefore,early diagnosis and timely management of suspected cases are essential measures to control the spread of the virus.Developing simple,portable,and accurate diagnostic techniques for SARS-CoV-2 is the key to epidemic prevention.The advantages of point-of-care testing technology make it play an increasingly important role in viral detection and screening.This review summarizes the point-of-care testing platforms developed by nucleic acid detection,immunological detection,and nanomaterial-based biosensors detection.Furthermore,this paper provides a prospect for designing future highly accurate,cheap,and convenient SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic technology.

Serving as one of the largest rivers in terms of both sediment and organic carbon transport fluxes in the world,the Yellow River plays a crucial role in regional biogeochemical process as well as in the global carbon cycle.However,although a large number of studies have been carried out on the flux,composition,source and seasonal variation of total particulate organic carbon in the Yellow River so far,studies on molecular biomarkers at different spatial and temporal scales are still scarce.In this study,we focus on the molecular and hydrogen isotopic properties of leaf wax n-alkanes among different types of samples which obtained from different seasons(flood vs.non-flood)along the lower Yellow River.The molecular distribution of n-alkanes show that the riparian topsoils are subject to inputs from the overlying vegetation,while the suspended sediments from the flood season are characterized by the mixing of soil materials which originate from various stratigraphy with different ages on the Chinese Loess Plateau.Due to the contrasting hydrodynamic conditions,the n-alkanes in suspended sediments also show distinct molecular composition between flood and non-flood seasons.Additionally,considering the effect of climatic factors,the proportion of monocots in flood-season suspended sediments is calculated from a semi-quantitative perspective using δ^(2)H_(wax).Our findings may bring to light new considerations for the interpretation of leaf wax proxies in studies of organic matter sources of Yellow River.

Aiming at the problem that the asset’s fluctuation influences the borrower’s repayment ability,a loan with a new and flexible repayment method is designed,which depends on the asset value of the borrower.The repayment method can reduce the loan default probability,but it causes the uncertainty of the pay off time.Because the repayment term is related to the regular repayment amount in this method,a boundary for the regular repayment amount is set up in order to avoid too long repayment term.This will balance the benefit of borrowers and lenders and improve the applicability of this method.By establishing a mathematical model of the residual value of the loan,this model can be transformed into an initial-boundary problem of a partial differential equation.The analytic solution and the expected time to pay off the loan are obtained.Finally,numerical analysis are shown.

Fixed-Time Anti-Disturbance Average-Tracking for Multi-Agent Systems Without Velocity Measurements

In this paper,the authors tackle a fixed-time average-tracking problem for multi-agent systems which do not require velocity measurements and are affected by external mismatched and matched disturbances.The objective requires the considered agents with second-order dynamics to follow the average value of several time-varying reference signals,each of which is acquired by only one agent.First of all,the average value is estimated by using a novel distributed average estimator in a fixed time.Second,an original observer is created to provide estimated values in a fixed time for external mismatched and matched disturbances as well as unmeasured velocities of agents.Then,the authors propose a novel fixed-time anti-disturbance average-tracking protocol with the aid of the observer and a sliding mode surface.In the end,the feasibility of theoretical analysis is illustrated by some simulation experiments.
