Carascynol A,an unprecedented 4/9/8 ring system hybrid with a peroxide bridge,was characterized from Hyperi-cum ascyron.The architecture contains a caryophyllane-type moiety and a C_(6) unit derived from polyprenylated acylphloroglucinols.Its structure and absolute configuration were determined by comprehensive spectroscopic and X-ray diffraction data.Biologically,compound 1 inhibited cell proliferation in LoVo,SW480,and HCT116 cell lines(IC_(50)=12.30-24.57μM).

Potential health risks related to environmental endocrine disruptors(EEDs)have aroused research hotspots at the forefront of water treatment technologies.Herein,nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide/schwertmannite nanocomposites(N-TiO_(2)/SCH)have been successfully developed as heterogeneous catalysts for the degradation of typical EEDs via photo-Fenton processes.Due to the sustainable Fe(Ⅲ)/Fe(Ⅱ)conversion induced by photoelectrons,as-prepared N-TiO_(2)/SCH nanocomposites exhibit much enhanced efficiency for the degradation of bisphenol A(BPA;ca.100% within 60 min under visible irradiation)in a wide pH range of 3.0-7.8,which is significantly higher than that of the pristine schwertmannite(ca.74.5%)or N-TiO_(2)(ca.10.8%).In this photo-Fenton system,the efficient degradation of BPA is mainly attributed to the oxidation by hydroxyl radical(·OH)and singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2)).Moreover,the possible catalytic mechanisms and reaction pathway of BPA degradation are systematically investigated based on analytical and photoelectrochemical analyses.This work not only provides a feasible means for the development of novel heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalysts,but also lays a theoretical foundation for the potential application of mineral-based materials in wastewater treatment.

A number of plant pathogenic species of Phytophthora are known to produce different classes of secretory proteins during interactions with their hosts.Although several small cysteine-rich(SCR)secretory proteins,conserved in oomycete pathogens,have been identified in Phytophthora,their specific involvement in these interactions remains unknown.In this study,an SCR effector encoded by Pn SCR82 in P.nicotianae was identified and shown to have similarities to P.cactorum phytotoxic protein,Pc F(Phytophthora cactorum Fragaria).Agroinfection with potato virus X vector,Pn SCR82,was capable of inducing plant hypersensitive cell death in Nicotiana benthamiana and Solanum lycopersicum.Real-time PCR results indicated that transiently expressed Pn SCR82 in N.benthamiana leaves activated the jasmonate,salicylic acid and ethylene signaling pathways.Transient expression of Pn SCR82 enhanced plant resisitance to P.capsici.In summary,our results demonstrated that P.nicotianae Pn SCR82 elicits defensive responses in N.benthamiana and may potentially play a significant role in future crop protection programs.

退化草地上迅速蔓延、生长的有毒植物能产生大量的调落物,而氮输入能促进有毒植物的生长,并改变其根际微生物特别是丛枝菌根真菌(AMF)的特征。然而,有毒植物的调落物如何影响可食牧草的生长及其根际AMF,N沉降是否以及如何介导这些影响,目前尚不清楚。本文在中国东北的草甸草原上进行了温室实验以检验添加狼毒(Stellera chamaejasme)调落物和氮素对优势植物羊草(Leymus chinensis)的生长、AMF和土壤特征的影响。结果表明,添加调落物显著增加了羊草分株数、地上生物量和土壤速效磷(AP)浓度,并降低了AMF孢子密度。然而,调落物与氮素的交互作用并未显著影响羊草和AMF。狼毒调落物通过提高AP对羊草产生正效应,并结合土壤养分平衡与调落物诱导的化感成分的变化对AMF产生负效应。另外,高氮添加能缓解土壤的氮限制并抑制调落物分解,从而减缓调落物对羊草和AMF的影响。上述结果表明,除了关注有毒植物对家畜的有害作用外,还应客观地、全面地评价有毒植物的生态功能:同时,氮沉降应作为预测退化草地有毒植物与可食植物的种间关系的一项重要指标。

Acephalic spermatozoa syndrome is a rare type of teratozoospermia that severely impairs the reproductive ability of male patients,and genetic defects have been recognized as the main cause of acephalic spermatozoa syndrome.Spermatogenesis and centrioleassociated 1 like(SPATC1L)is indispensable for maintaining the integrity of sperm head-to-tail connections in mice,but its roles in human sperm and early embryonic development remain largely unknown.Herein,we conducted whole-exome sequencing(WES)of 22 infertile men with acephalic spermatozoa syndrome.An in silico analysis of the candidate variants was conducted,and WES data analysis was performed using another cohort consisting of 34 patients with acephalic spermatozoa syndrome and 25 control subjects with proven fertility.We identified biallelic mutations in SPATC1L(c.910C>T:p.Arg304Cys and c.994G>T:p.Glu332X)from a patient whose sperm displayed complete acephalia.Both SPATC1L variants are rare and deleterious.SPATC1L is mainly expressed at the head–tail junction of elongating spermatids.Plasmids containing pathogenic variants decreased the level of SPATC1L in vitro.Moreover,none of the patient’s four attempts at intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)resulted in a transplantable embryo,which suggests that SPATC1L defects might affect early embryonic development.In conclusion,this study provides the first identification of SPATC1L as a novel gene for human acephalic spermatozoa syndrome.Furthermore,WES might be applied for patients with acephalic spermatozoa syndrome who exhibit reiterative ICSI failures.

The microstructural development of bimodal high density polyethylene subjected to tensile deformation was investigated as a function of strain after annealing at different temperatures by means of a scanning synchrotron small angle X-ray scattering(SAXS)technique.Two different deformation mechanisms were activated in sequence upon tensile deformation:intralamellar slipping of crystalline blocks dominates the deformation behavior at small deformations whereas a stress-induced crystalline block fragmentation and recrystallization process occurs at a critical strain yielding new crystallites with the molecular chains preferentially oriented along the drawing direction.The critical strain associated with the lamellar-to-fibrillar transition was found to be ca.0.9 in bimodal sample,which is significantly larger than that observed for unimodal high-density polyethylene(0.4).This observation is primarily due to the fact that the bimodal sample possesses a greater mobility of the amorphous phase and thereby a reduced modulus of the entangled amorphous network.The conclusion of the mobility of the amorphous phase as a determining factor for the critical strain was further proven by the 1H-NMR T2 relaxation time.All these findings contribute to our understanding of the excellent slow crack growth resistance of bimodal polyethylene for pipe application.

The soybean aphid Aphis glycines Matsumura （Hemiptera： Aphididae） is an important pest of soybean in China. To monitor and manage this pest effectively it is neces-sary to understand its population dynamics and demographics, as well as the physiological responses of soybean plants to its feeding. In this study, using field surveying and suction-trap monitoring, we investigated the population dynamics of the soybean aphid in Xiuyan County, liaoning Province in northeastern China during 2009-2012. The results indicatedthat the population dynamics of the soybean aphid followed a unimodal curve distribution, with the insect generally colonizing soybean fields from the middle of June to early Julyand the population reaching a peak between early July and early August. On the whole, soybean aphids occurred in suction-traps at least 2 weeks earlier than they were foundin field surveys. A total of 72 alates were collected by suction-trapping over the 4 years, with the earliest alate captures occurring on 28 May in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 4 June in 2010. The life table parameters clearly showed that this aphid had a short doubling time （4.73 ± 0.21 days）, and 7.36± 0.98 nymphs were produced by a soybean aphid adult during its lifetime （13.57 ± 0.30 days）. Finally, biochemical assays indicated that the amount of malondialdehyde and the activities of four defense-related enzymes in soybean leavessignificantly changed between 0 day and 7 days of aphid infestation. Polyphenol oxidase （PPO） and catalase （CAT） activities increased more dramatically after 1 day of aphid feed-ing. In addition, significantly higher levels of superoxide dismutase and CAT were found after aphid feeding for 7 days, whereas there was no significant change in the activitiesof peroxidase and PPO. Consequently, this study will be beneficial in determining the seasonal occurrence of the soybean aphid and selecting insect-resistant soybean varieties,and thus in developing a theoretical framework for appropriate management strategies.

Recently, offshore renewable energy has received significant attentions from most oceanic countries. Its multiple disciplinary nature appears as a hot research spot. Among those resources, offshore wind has been experiencing a rapid growth with strong industrial and governmental support. Among the research topics related to offshore wind turbine, those related to efficiency and safety issue receive most attentions, and they cover hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, structural dynamics, elasticity and so on. Hydrodynamics is considered as the key of these research for offshore wind turbine. This is not only because it is the fundamental of ocean engineering, but also it is similar to low speed aerodynamics which is the key of wind turbine rotor. In order to provide a comprehensive understanding of the important problems of offshore wind turbine hydrodynamics, we briefly review the evolution of offshore wind turbine and discuss the hydrodynamics problem associated with the research and development activities.

The karst habitats of Southwest China contain the richest cavefish fauna in the world.However,many Chinese cavefish species are now at high risk of extinction.Chinese cavefish have evolved unusual traits,which are important for studying adaptive evolution and modeling human diseases.Here,we call on scientific research institutions to develop programs to conserve precious cavefish species and suggest international cooperation to promote research on cavefish in China.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for gastrointestinal tumors and premalignant lesions needs submucosal fluid cushion (SFC) for mucosal uplift before dissection, and wound care including wound closure and rapid healing postoperatively. Current SFC materials as well as materials and/or methods for post-ESD wound care have single treatment effect and hold corresponding drawbacks, such as easy dispersion, short duration, weak hemostasis and insufficient repair function. Thus, designing materials that can serve as both SFC materials and wound care is highly desired, and remains a challenge. Herein, we report a two-component in-situ hydrogel prepared from maleimide-based oxidized sodium alginate and sulfhydryl carboxymethyl-chitosan, which gelated mainly based on "click" chemistry and Schiff base reaction. The hydrogels showed short gelation time, outstanding tissue adhesion, favorable hemostatic properties, and good biocompatibility. A rat subcutaneous ultrasound model confirmed the ability of suitable mucosal uplift height and durable maintenance time of AM solution. The in vivo/in vitro rabbit liver hemorrhage model demonstrated the effects of hydrogel in rapid hemostasis and prevention of delayed bleeding. The canine esophageal ESD model corroborated that the in-situ hydrogel provided good mucosal uplift and wound closure effects, and significantly accelerated wound healing with accelerating re-epithelization and ECM remodeling post-ESD. The two-component in-situ hydrogels exhibited great potential in gastrointestinal tract ESD.
