Multiple Nanoparticles Coupling Strategy for Enhancing Optical Filter Performance of Spectral Splitter Used in Photovoltaic/Thermal System

Selective absorptive nanofluid can pre-absorb certain sunlight wavelength that cannot be used by PV and transmits remaining sunlight to the surface of PV,which can decouple PV from the thermal receiver *** order to improve the harvesting of electricity and high-temperature thermal nanofluid,it is important to design an optimal optical filter window(transmit sunlight with wavelengths of 732-1067 nm to the surface of the photovoltaic cell and absorb the remaining sunlight).However,designing optimal optical filter is facing following challenges:(1) inherently narrow selective absorptivity property of single nanoparticle;(2) simplified numerical calculation method calculating transmittance;(3) ignoring the shape of the *** this study,the idea of using multiple nanoparticles coupling effect to design an optical filter is proposed,which can superimpose the narrow absorption bandwidth of different nanoparticles to obtain a wide absorption bandwidth of the whole *** addition,an improved transmission method considering light-matter interaction at air/vessel and liquid/vessel interfaces is adopted to compute the *** results calculated by improved transmission method are more accurate than widely used traditional Lambert-Beer law,which is verified by experimental ***,the effect of nanoparticle shape on spectral transmittance is also investigated,which shows that spiny Ag can approximately extend absorbance from 400 nm to 600 nm compared to nanosphere ***,the results show that optical filter efficiency of nanofluids with multiple nanoparticles coupling(Ag,spiny Ag,ZnO,ITO) can reached up to 35%.

Low-resolution Kramers-Kronig detection system with error-feedback noise shaping

In this paper, we investigated the effects of error-feedback noise shaping(EFNS) on a lowresolution Kramers-Kronig(KK) detection system for the first time. Both 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation(16-QAM) and 64-ary quadrature amplitude modulation(64-QAM) were considered in the experiment. The carrier tone was added on the transmitter side using the virtual carrier-assisted single sideband(VCA-SSB) method to meet the minimum phase(MP) condition. Under the MP condition, KK detection only needs the intensity of the optical signal to be detected by one photodiode(PD) to retrieve the phase information. However, the virtual carrier tone increases the carrier-to-signal power ratio(CSPR), which results in a high peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) at the transmitter, causing an increase in quantization noise. To mitigate quantization noise in the low-resolution KK detection system, EFNS was applied. The application of EFNS increased the optimal CSPR of the KK detection system and improved receiver sensitivity. Using a 4-bit DAC and the EFNS, 80 km transmission was achieved in the 60-Gbit/s 64-QAM KK detection system.

Development and validation of a novel non-invasive test for diagnosing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in Chinese children

With the exploding prevalence of obesity,many children are at risk of developing nonalcoholic fatty liver *** anthropometric and laboratory parameters,our study aimed to develop a model to quantitatively evaluate liver fat content(LFC)in children with *** A well-characterized cohort of 181 children between 5 and 16 years of age were recruited to the study in the Endocrinology Department as the derivation *** external validation cohort comprised 77 *** assessment of liver fat content was performed using proton magnetic resonance *** and laboratory metrics were measured in all subjects.B-ultrasound examination was carried out in the external validation *** Kruskal-Wallis test,Spearman bivariate correlation analyses,univariable linear regressions and multivariable linear regression were used to build the optimal predictive *** The model was based on indicators including alanine aminotransferase,homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance,triglycerides,waist circumference and Tanner *** adjusted R^(2)of the model was 0.589,which presented high sensitivity and specificity both in internal[sensitivity of 0.824,specificity of 0.900,area under curve(AUC)of 0.900 with a 95%confidence interval:0.783–1.000]and external validation(sensitivity of 0.918 and specificity of 0.821,AUC of 0.901 with a 95%confidence interval:0.818–0.984).Conclusions Our model based on five clinical indicators was simple,non-invasive,and inexpensive;it had high sensitivity and specificity in predicting LFC in ***,it may be useful for identifying children with obesity who are at risk for developing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Effect of Acupuncture on Endometrial Blood Flow in Women Undergoing in vitro Fertilization Embryo Transfer: A Single Blind, Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective: To evaluate the effect of manual acupuncture on endometrial blood flow parameters by three-dimensional(3D) power Doppler ultrasound in women undergoing in vitro fertilization embryo transfer(IVF-ET). Methods: Seventy patients undergoing IVF-ET were equally randomized into traditional or sham acupuncture treatment group for totally 4 days(from the day of oocyte aspiration to the day of embryo transfer) of treatment by random envelope method at the Reproductive Medicine Center and Outpatient Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medicine College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2013 to December 2015. Patients in the traditional acupuncture group accepted traditional acupuncture methods with manual acupuncture, and Zhongji(CV3), Qihai(CV 6), Sanyinjiao(SP6), Taichong(LR 3), Tianshu(ST 25), Guilai(ST 29) and Zusanli(ST 36) were chosen. Patients at the sham acupuncture group accepted shallow acupuncture methods at 4 non-meridian points at each shoulder and upper arm. Outcome measures included endometrial ultrasonic indices such as vascularization index(VI), flow index(FI) and vascularization flow index(VFI), endometrial thickness and volume, subendometrial VI(sVI), subendometrial FI(sFI), subendometrial VFI(sVFI), implantation rate, clinical pregnancy rate, abortion rate, live birth rate and number of live births. Results: Finally, 34 patients in the traditional acupuncture group and 35 in the sham acupuncture group completed this trial. VI, FI and VFI of the traditional acupuncture group were significantly higher than those in the sham acupuncture group(P0.05). Exceptional points enhance sensing in silicon micromechanical resonators

Exceptional points(EPs)have recently emerged as a new method for engineering the response of open physical systems,that is,systems that interact with the *** systems at the EPs exhibit a strong response to a small ***,we show a method by which the sensitivity of silicon resonant sensors can be enhanced when operated at *** our experiments,we use a pair of mechanically coupled silicon micromechanical resonators constituting a parity-time(PT)-symmetric *** perturbations introduced on the mechanically coupled spring cause the frequency to split from the EPs into the PT-symmetric regime without broadening the two spectrum linewidths,and this frequency splitting scales with the square root of the perturbation *** overall signal-tonoise ratio is still greatly enhanced,although the measured noise spectral density of the EP sensing scheme has a slight increase comparable to the traditional *** results pave the way for resonant sensors with ultrahigh sensitivity.

Novel self-assembled porous yolk-shell NiO nanospheres with excellent electrochromic performance for smart windows

With the rapid development of optoelectronics,electrochromic(EC)materials(ECMs)with the advan-tages of low power consumption,easy viewing,high contrast ratio,etc have attached more and more attention from the fields of smart windows,electronic billboards,emerging wearable and portable electronics,and other next-generation *** oxide(NiO)is a promising candidate for high-performance ECMs because of its neutral-colored states and low ***,NiO-based ECMs still face the problem of slow switching speed due to their low electrical conductivity and small lattice ***-organic frameworks(MOFs)are promising candidates to fabricate hollow and porous transition metal oxides(TMOs)with high ion transport efficiency,excellent specific capacitance,and electrochemical *** this work,porous yolk-shell NiO nanospheres(PYS-NiO NSs)were syn-thesized via a solvothermal and subsequent calcination process of Ni-MOF,which exhibited outstanding EC *** the large specific surface areas and hollow porous nanostructures were conducive to ionic transport,PYS-NiO NSs exhibited a fast coloring/bleaching speed(3.6/3.9 s per one coloring/bleaching cycle)and excellent cycling stability(82%of capacity retention after 3000 cycles).These superior EC properties indicated that the PYS-NiO NSs was a promising candidate for high-performance EC *** work provides a new and feasible strategy for the efficient preparation of TMOs ECMs with good EC performance,especially fast switching speed.

Effects of pulmonary stretch reflex on lung injury in rabbits with acute respiratory distress syndrome

BACKGROUND： Pulmonary stretch reflex plays an important role in regulation of respiratorymovement. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of pulmonary stretch reflex on lung injury inrabbits with acute respiratory distress syndrome （ARDS）.METHODS： ARDS rabbits were given intratracheal infusion of hydrochloric acid and ventilatedwith neurally adjusted ventilatory assistance （NAVA） with a tidal volume （VT） of 6 mL/kg and theelectrical activity of diaphragm （EAdi）-determined positive end expiratory pressure. After isolation ofthe bilateral vagus nerve trunk, the rabbits were randomized into two groups： sham operation （SHAM）group （n=5） and bilateral vagotomy （VAG） group （n=5）. Gas exchange and respiratory mechanicswere detected at baseline, after lung injury and 1, 2, and 3 hours after ventilation *** permeability index, pathological changes and infl ammatory response were also ***： Compared with the SHAM group, PaO2/FiO2 in the VAG group decreased signifi cantly2 and 3 hours after ventilation （P〈0.05）. There was no significant difference in PaCO2 betweenthe SHAM and VAG groups （P〉0.05）, and the VAG group had a high VT, peak pressure （Ppeak）,and mean pressure （Pm） compared with the SHAM group 1, 2, 3 hours after ventilation （P〈0.05）.Compared to the SHAM group, dead space fraction （VD/VT） and respiratory system elastance （Ers）in the VAG group increased （P〈0.05） and static pulmonary compliance （Cst） decreased markedly（P〈0.05） after ventilation for 3 hours. Lung wet/dry weight ratio （W/D）（8.4±1.2 vs. 6.6±1.0）, lung injuryscore （6.3±1.8 vs. 3.8±1.3）, tumor necrosis factor-# （TNF-#）（779±372 pg/mL vs. 355±130 pg/mL）and interleukin-8 （IL-8）（169±21 pg/mL vs. 118±17 pg/mL） increased significantly in the VAG groupcompared with the SHAM group （P〈0.05）.CONCLUSION： Lung injury is aggravated after bilateral vagotomy, demonstrating thatpulmonary stretch refl ex may have protective effect on the lung.

H7N9 subtype avian influenza virus poses a great challenge for poultry *** disease virus(NDV)-vectored H7N9 avian influenza vaccines(NDV_(vec)H7N9)are effective in disease control because they are protective and allow mass *** note,these vaccines elicit undetectable H7N9-specific hemagglutination-inhibition(HI)but high IgG antibodies in ***,the molecular basis and protective mechanism underlying this particular antibody immunity remain ***,immunization with an NDV_(vec)H7N9 induced low anti-H7N9 HI and virus neutralization titers but high levels of hemagglutinin(HA)-binding IgG antibodies in *** residues(S150,G151 and S152)in HA of H7N9 virus were identified as the dominant epitopes recognized by the NDV_(vec)H7N9 immune *** transferred NDV_(vec)H7N9 immune serum conferred complete protection against H7N9 virus infection in *** NDV_(vec)H7N9 immune serum can mediate a potent lysis of HA-expressing and H7N9 virus-infected cells and significantly suppress H7N9 virus *** activities of the serum were significantly impaired after heat-inactivation or treatment with complement inhibitor,suggesting the engagement of the complement ***,mutations in the 150-SGS-152 sites in HA resulted in significant reductions in cell lysis and virus neutralization mediated by the NDV_(vec)H7N9 immune serum,indicating the requirement of antibody-antigen binding for complement ***,antibodies induced by the NDV_(vec)H7N9 can activate antibody-dependent complement-mediated lysis of H7N9 virus-infected cells and complement-mediated neutralization of H7N9 *** findings unveiled a novel role of the complement in protection conferred by the NDV_(vec)H7N9,highlighting a potential benefit of engaging the complement system in H7N9 vaccine design.

On Penalized Goal-Reaching Probability Minimization with a Common Shock for an AAI

The authors consider a robust optimal reinsurance and investment problem in a risk model with two dependent classes of insurance business for an Ambiguity-Averse insurer(AAI). The insurer aims to minimize the goal-reaching probability that the value of the wealth process reaches a low barrier before a high goal. Using the stochastic control approach based on the Hamilton-JacobiBellman(HJB) equation, the authors derive the robust optimal reinsurance and investment strategies,as well as the corresponding value function. The authors conclude that the robust optimal investmentreinsurance strategy coincides with the one without model ambiguity, but the value function differs. As a consequence, ignoring model uncertainty leads to significant value function loss for the AAI. Besides,it is worth noting that if the insurer has only one business, the sum of the degenerated value function and the one of(Luo, et al., 2019) is equal to 1 both for ambiguity and ambiguity-neutral. Finally,numerical examples are given to illustrate our results.
