Honokiol Prevents Intestinal Barrier Dysfunction in Mice with Severe Acute Pancreatitis and Inhibits JAK/STAT1 Pathway and Acetylation of HMGB1

Predicting post-hepatectomy liver failure using a nomogram based on portal vein width,inflammatory indices,and the albumin-bilirubin score

BACKGROUND Post-hepatectomy liver failure(PHLF)after liver resection is one of the main complications causing postoperative death in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).It is crucial to help clinicians identify potential high-risk PHLF patients as early as possible through preoperative *** To identify risk factors for PHLF and develop a prediction *** This study included 248 patients with HCC at The Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University between January 2014 and December 2023;these patients were divided into a training group(n=164)and a validation group(n=84)via random *** independent variables for the occurrence of PHLF were identified by univariate and multivariate analyses and visualized as ***,comparisons were made with traditional models via receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves,calibration curves,and decision curve analysis(DCA).RESULTS In this study,portal vein width[odds ratio(OR)=1.603,95%CI:1.288-1.994,P≤0.001],the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)(OR=1.495,95%CI:1.126-1.984,P=0.005),and the albumin-bilirubin(ALBI)score(OR=8.868,95%CI:2.144-36.678,P=0.003)were independent risk factors for PHLF.A nomogram prediction model was developed using these *** and DCA analyses revealed that the predictive efficacy and clinical value of this model were better than those of traditional *** A new Nomogram model for predicting PHLF in HCC patients was successfully established based on portal vein width,the NLR,and the ALBI score,which outperforms the traditional model.

Parasitism-induced effects on host growth and metabolic efficiency in Plutella xylostella larvae parasitized by Cotesia vestalis or Diadegma semiclausum

The nutritional physiology of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella, larvae was examined after parasitization by the solitary endoparasitoids Cotesia vestalis or Diadegma semiclausum. Examinations were performed in two phases, one was examined at the time point of 24 h post-parasitization, and the other was done at the end of the 4th instar larvae of host. Rates of growth, food consumption, assimilation, excretion, and respiration were calculated as well as approximate digestibility and the rate ratios ECI （percent efficiency of conversion of ingested food to body substance）, and ECD （percent efficiency of conversion of digested food to body substance）. Parasitization by C. vestalis resulted in significant decrease in the rates of growth, feeding, excretion, assimilation, and respiration, but the final dry rate of respiration at the end of last larval stadium was elevated. The ECI and ECD were also reduced as the result of parasitization, but digestibility was increased. All these parameters in the larvae parasitized by D. semiclausum at 24 h post-parasitization were also significantly changed compared to the control; however, these differences were quantitatively, but not qualitatively before pupation, similar to those resulted from parasitization by C. vestalis. In spite of the similarities of the parasitism-induced effects caused by these endoparasitoids, the final metabolic rate, that is, the rate of intake of nutrients required to compensate for metabolism, was much lower in the larvae parasitized by C. vestalis than that of the larvae parasitized by D. semiclausum. All of the results discussed here will contribute toward explaining the different ways these two wasps regulate the parasitoid-host relationship.

In-situ ECSTM investigation of H_(2)O_(2)production in cobalt–porphyrin-catalyzed oxygen reduction reaction

We report the in-situ investigation of the production of H_(2)O_(2)in 5,10,15,20-tetra(4-methoxyphenyl)-21H,23H-porphyrin cobalt(Ⅱ)(Co TMPP)-catalyzed oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)in neutral electrolytes by electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy(ECSTM)at the molecular *** adsorption of OOH-on active sites can be observed in STM images and is found to be correlated with the pH value of the *** thermodynamic parameters of the formation of Co TMPP–OOHcomplex are extracted by the quantitative analysis of the STM *** stages of the ORR including the formation of H_(2)O_(2)and further reduction of H_(2)O_(2)at different reduction potentials can be revealed by electrochemical ***-situ ECSTM experiments unambiguously identify the formation of the Co TMPP–OOH-complex as the high contrast species and its reduction and oxidation *** work provides the direct evidence for understanding the formation and transformation process of H_(2)O_(2)at the molecular scale,which benefits the rational design of the high-efficiency electrocatalysts for ORR and H_(2)O_(2)production.

The mechanisms of pH regulation on promoting volatile fatty acids production from kitchen waste

The anaerobic acid production experiments were conducted with the pretreated kitchen waste under pH *** results showed that pH 8 was considered to be the most suitable condition for acid production,especially for the formation of acetic acid and propionic *** average value of total volatile fatty acid at pH 8 was 8814 mg COD/L,1.5 times of that under blank *** average yield of acetic acid and propionic acid was 3302 mg COD/L and 2891 mg COD/L,*** activities of key functional enzymes such as phosphotransacetylase,acetokinase,oxaloacetate transcarboxylase and succinylcoA transferase were all *** further explore the regulatory mechanisms within the system,the distribution of microorganisms at different levels in the fermentation system was obtained by microbial sequencing,results indicating that the relative abundances of Clostridiales,Bacteroidales,Chloroflexi,Clostridium,Bacteroidetes and Propionibacteriales,which were great contributors for the hydrolysis and acidification,increased rapidly at pH 8 compared with the blank ***,the proportion of genes encoding key enzymes was generally increased,which further verified the mechanism of hydrolytic acidification and acetic acid production of organic matter under pH regulation.

Many water conservancy and hydropower projects are located in karst areas of which complicated structure would cause significant risks to water conservancy and hydropower projects, so identifying the presence or absence of pipeline leaks is one of important basic conditions for water conservancy and hydropower project. Determining the existence of leakage channels has important applications tracer diffusion of water tracer experiment, this paper is the experimental investigation of tracer leakage passage of a hydropower station in West China, determining the existence of leakage passage can be worked through experimental investigation on part of the left abutment of the hydropower predict leakage passage to.

We present a microscopic investigation on the structure-activity relationship of the Co-N4 site in the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)by electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy(ECSTM)at the molecular *** cobalt porphyrins with various substituents(CoTPPX_(4),X=Cl,H,OCH_(3))that delicately regulate the electronic structure of the active site were investigatedasmodel *** measurements evidenced that the CoTPPCl_(4)exhibits better activity,higher product selectivity for H_(2)O,and lower *** CoTPPX_(4)-O_(2)complex with higher contrast can be observed in the STM images and the proportion of the CoTPPCl_(4)-O_(2)is appreciably larger than that of CoTPP-O_(2)and CoTPP(OCH_(3))4-O_(2).Theoretical simulations of the model catalysts and the reaction processes of the ORR reveal the relationship between the electronic structure and the catalytic behavior of the model *** transformation of the CoTPPX_(4)-O_(2)and CoTPPX_(4)in the electrocatalytic reaction was monitored by in situ ECSTM *** structure-activity relationship clarified by experimental and theoretical investigations in this work should help to guide the rational design and optimization of high-performance catalysts.

Characteristics of catalytic destruction of dichloromethane and ethyl acetate mixture over HxPO4-RuOx/CeO2 catalyst

Catalytic destruction is an ascendant technology for the abatement of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)originating fromsolvent-based industrial *** varied composition tends to influence each VOC’s catalytic behavior in the reaction *** investigated the catalytic destruction of multi-component VOCs including dichloromethane(DCM)and ethyl acetate(EA),as representatives from pharmaceutical waste gases,over co-supported HxPO_(4)-RuOx/CeO_(2) catalyst.A mutual inhibitory effect relating to concentrations because of competitive adsorption was verified in the binary VOCs oxidation and EA posed a more negative effect on DCM oxidation owing to EA’s superior adsorption *** adsorption of EA on acidic sites(HxPO_(4)/CeO_(2))promoted DCM activation on basic sites(O^(2−))and the dominating EA oxidation blocked DCM’s access to oxidation centers(RuOx/CeO_(2)),resulting in boosted monochloromethane yield and increased chlorine deposition for DCM *** impaired redox ability of Ru species owing to chlorine deposition in turn jeopardized deep oxidation of EA and its by-products,leading to increased gaseous by-products such as acetic acid originating fromEA ***,DCM at low concentration slightly promoted EA conversion at low temperatures with or without water,consistent with the enhanced EA adsorption in co-adsorption *** was mainly due to that DCM impeded the shielding effect of hydrolysate deposition from rapid EA hydrolysis depending on the decreased ***,water benefited EA hydrolysis but decreased CO_(2) selectivity while the generated water derived from EA was likely to affect DCM *** work may provide theoretical guidance for the promotion of applied catalysts toward industrial applications.

建立了一款置于汽车后排中间位置的内置式儿童安全座椅模型,采用MADYMO与LS-DYNA耦合的方法进行仿真计算,并对该模型进行滑车试验验证.首先对无扶手、面式扶手、杆式扶手以及面式扶手及侧翼相结合的4种不同类型的座椅进行侧面碰撞仿真试验,其次对扶手高度不同的座椅模型进行侧面碰撞仿真试验,最后对仿真结果进行对比分析.结果表明,扶手能限制儿童乘员从座垫滑落而有效避免安全带约束儿童颈部造成的窒息死亡,侧翼能有效保护儿童乘员的颈部和胸部,侧翼和扶手组合式儿童安全座椅模型保护效果最好;扶手高度适中的座椅能对儿童乘员提供最好的保护.
