Friction properties of rock are closely connected with the *** anisotropy of rock friction can provide a valuable assessment for geotechnical and geological *** this study,the rotary friction tests were conducted to analyze the water effect on the friction property and the friction anisotropy of the four types of *** drilling response model(DD-model)was employed to characterize the rotary friction behavior of the *** parameters of this model include the three types of friction parameters:1/ς,μ,and f,where 1/ςandμare constant,and f is a variable.A quantitative method is proposed for assessing the anisotropy of rock *** results of the rotary friction tests indicate that the relation between torque force and thrust force conforms to the *** changes of two friction constants 1/ςandμfrom dry state to water-saturated state suggest that the water effect on the friction strength of the rocks exhibits significant *** friction strength determined by the friction variable f increases first,then decreases,and finally stabilizes with the increasing of *** is an anisotropy index calculated by the proposed *** percentage difference of the average value of AIf between water-saturated and dry states shows the degree of the water effect on the friction anisotropy of the rocks,mudstone(MU)>granite(GR)>fine sandstone(FS)>argillaceous siltstone(AS).The quantitative model is hopefully constructed for characterizing the relation between the anisotropic friction strength of rock and the moisture state in future.

Land subsidence is a severe hazard threatening Tanggu,a flat lowland area,and evidences of land subsidence can be seen throughout the city.A new reasonable GPS network was set up in this area from 2008 to *** monitoring data show that land subsidence was serious and two main subsidence cones were obviously formed In the *** emerged at Hujiayuan,with the maximum rate reaching 60 mm/a,and the influence region enlarged prominently from 2005 to *** other one occurred at Kaifaqu,which became obvious only after 2005,and it showed a decreasing tendency with *** analyze the causes of ground settlement,a correlation between groundwater withdrawal and land subsidence was firstly *** results confirmed that over-exploitation of groundwater was the major cause for the severe settlement In ***,the subsidence of Kaifaqu was also related to groundwater withdrawal before ***,the relationship became unconspicuous after *** find the cause of this abnormity,a three-dimensional finite element numerical model,coupled with groundwater flow and subsidence,was *** simulation results indicate that the subsidence Induced by high-rise buildings is serious,but the affected range is limited and it also shows a decreasing trend with time,corresponding to the subsidence characteristics at ***,more attention should be paid to this hazard induced by engineering construction besides groundwater withdrawal,as more high-rise buildings are under construction in Tanggu.

Indian Ocean-MORB-type isotopic signature of Yushigou ophiolite in North Qilian Mountains and its implications

In order to explore the disputed issue concerning the tectonic affinity ofthe ancient ocean mantle of North Qilian Mountains (NQM), geochemical and Sr, Nd, Pb isotopiccompositions of pillow basalts of the Yushigou Ophiolite (YSGO) suite from NQM have been analyzedsystematically. The pillow basalts exhibit tholeiitic characteristics, with flatchondrite-normalized REE patterns ((La/Yb)_N = 0.98—1.27). They display no Nb, Ta, Zr, Hf negativeanomalies, and show MORB features in 2Nb-Zr/4-Y and Ti/100-Zr-YX3 tectonic discrimination *** results indicate that the Yushigou ophiolite is most likely to be formed in a mid-ocean ridgeor mature back-arc basin. Their isotopic data show a relatively broad and enriched ^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr(0.70509 — 0.70700), restricted ^(143)Nd/^(144)Nd (0.512955-0.512978). Pb isotopes are in the rangeof ^(206)Pb/^(204)Pb (18.054-20.562), ^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb (15.537-15.743) and ^(208)Pb/^(204)Pb(38.068-38.530). These isotopic data imply that the basalts originated from the depleted mantle(DMM), with the involvement of enriched mantle components (mainly EMII). Geochemical comparisonsbetween the basalts in YSGO and the MORB-type basalts of ophiolite suites occurring in the knownancient Tethyan tectonic domain indicate that the ancient oceanic mantle represented by YSGO suiteforming in early Paleozoic in the North Qilian Moutains is very similar to the Tethyan mantle inboth trace elements and isotopic compositions. The North Qilian Mountains should be a part of theTethyan tectonic domain in early Paleozoic. This further implies that the Tethyan tectonic domaincan be deduced to early Paleozoic in the study area, which will be helpful to discussing thetectonic affinity and evolution of the North Qilian Mountains.

The influence of silica on reaction rates and molecular hydrogen(H_(2))generation during olivine hydrothermal alteration

Hydrothermal alteration of olivine greatly influences geodynamics and the recycling of volatiles(such as water and carbon)in subduction *** is an important component of geological fluids,and its influence on the hydrothermal alteration of olivine remains poorly *** this study,we performed experiments at 300–515℃ and 3.0 kbar(1 bar=10^(5)Pa)by reacting well homogenized mixtures of olivine and silica powders with saline solutions(0.5 mol L^(−1)NaCl).Silica greatly influences the reaction pathways,reaction rates,and molecular hydrogen(H_(2))formation during olivine hydrothermal *** experiments at 300℃ and 3.0 kbar with mixtures of olivine and 10 wt%silica,olivine was replaced by serpentine and *** proportions of serpentine and talc were determined according to standard curves based on infrared spectroscopy *** 6.5%serpentine and 12%talc were produced after an experimental duration of 7 days,which had no change after a longer period(14 days).Compared to the kinetics in silica-free systems,the rates of olivine hydrothermal alteration in experiments with 10 wt%silica are much *** overall reaction is:4.5Forsterite+5.5SiO_(2),aq+4H_(2)O=Serpentine+*** the addition of more silica(20 wt%and 40 wt%),olivine was transformed into *** rates of reaction were much faster,e.g.,for experiments with olivine and 20 wt%silica,43%of talc was produced after 14 days,which increased to 77%for experiments with 40 wt%silica over the same *** overall reaction is:3Forsterite+5SiO_(2),aq+2H_(2)O=*** experiments at 400–505℃ and 3.0 kbar,the promoting effect of silica on olivine hydrothermal alteration was also observed,which is closely associated with a decrease in Gibbs free energies of olivine hydrothermal *** 300℃ and 3.0 kbar,silica decreased H_(2)formed during olivine hydrothermal alteration by around an order of magnitude,resulting in an increase in oxygen *** on measured H_(2),we calibrated ox

In this research,one hundred and ten samples（ten sampling localities）were drilled by a portable petrol-driven drill in the Tongtianhe area along the highway where developes Yaxicuo Group,Oligocene. Complete demagnetization were finished in University of California,Santa Cruz（UCSC）.These remanence data were collected:Dg=334.2,Ig=52.3,α95=7.1,k=7.3（before structural correction）;Ds=27.2, Is=66.6,α95=7.3,k=7.0（after structural correction）.

The selection of important factors in machine learning-based susceptibility assessments is crucial to obtain reliable susceptibility *** this study,metaheuristic optimization and feature selection techniques were applied to identify the most important input parameters for mapping debris flow susceptibility in the southern mountain area of Chengde City in Hebei Province,china,by using machine learning *** total,133 historical debris flow records and 16 related factors were *** support vector machine(SVM)was first used as the base classifier,and then a hybrid model was introduced by a two-step ***,the particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm was employed to select the SVM model ***,two feature selection algorithms,namely principal component analysis(PCA)and PSO,were integrated into the PSO-based SVM model,which generated the PCA-PSO-SVM and FS-PSO-SVM models,*** statistical metrics(accuracy,recall,and specificity)and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)were employed to evaluate and validate the performance of the *** results indicated that the feature selection-based models exhibited the best performance,followed by the PSO-based SVM and SVM ***,the performance of the FS-PSO-SVM model was better than that of the PCA-PSO-SVM model,showing the highest AUC,accuracy,recall,and specificity values in both the training and testing *** was found that the selection of optimal features is crucial to improving the reliability of debris flow susceptibility assessment ***,the PSO algorithm was found to be not only an effective tool for hyperparameter optimization,but also a useful feature selection algorithm to improve prediction accuracies of debris flow susceptibility by using machine learning *** high and very high debris flow susceptibility zone appropriately covers 38.01%of the study area,where debris flow may occur under intens

Influence of multi-stage volcanic events on the Late Cretaceous-Paleogene reservoirs and its geological significance in the northern Central Myanmar Basin

The northward subduction of the Neo-Tethys oceanic crust triggered multiple magmatic activities in the West Myanmar Arc,which in turn influenced the deposition of sedimentary pyroclastic rocks from the Cretaceous to Eocene strata in the Central Myanmar Basin(CMB).The pore structure of these lithologic reservoirs is complex and rich in tuffaceous sandstone,which plays an adverse role in reservoir development in this *** understand the development characteristics and genetic mechanism of the pyroclastic rocks within three sets of reservoirs in this area,a comprehensive analysis was conducted through borehole core observations,thin section identification,scanning electron microscope analysis,and mercury injection *** tuffaceous sandstone from the upper Cretaceous to the Eocene is dominated by intermediate-acid volcanic rock *** pyroclastic rocks exhibit evident chloritization and ironization,with residual intergranular pores being the principal type accompanied by a smaller amount of intergranular dissolved pores and intragranular dissolved *** highest porosity is observed in the Eocene tuffaceous sandstone,ranging from 8%to 12%.The Late Cretaceous to Paleocene sandstones exhibit lower porosity levels of only 4%-6%.These reservoirs are characterized by their low porosity and *** the presence of a good source rock in this area,the volcanic debris particles filling the pores,as well as their subsequent devitrification,chloritization,and limonite mineralization,result in pore throat blockage and *** reservoirs in this area are small in size,exhibit poor reservoir connectivity and lateral continuity,and fail to meet the necessary conditions for commercial-scale hydrocarbon accumulation and migration.

Thermal and exhumation history of the Songnan Low Uplift,Qiongdongnan Basin:constraints from the apatite fission-track and zircon(U-Th)/He thermochronology

Significant advancements have been made in the study of Mesozoic granite buried hills in the Songnan Low Uplift(SNLU)of the Qiongdongnan *** findings indicate that the bedrock buried hills in this basin hold great potential for *** samples taken from the granite buried hills in the SNLU were analyzed using apatite fission track(AFT)and zircon(U-Th)/He data to unravel the thermal history of the basement *** information is crucial for understanding the processes of exhumation and alteration that occurred after its *** modeling of a sample from the western bulge of the SNLU revealed a prolonged cooling event from the late Mesozoic to the Oligocene period(~80-23.8 Ma),followed by a heating stage from the Miocene epoch until the present(~23.8 Ma to present).In contrast,the sample from the eastern bulge experienced a more complex thermal *** underwent two cooling stages during the late Mesozoic to late Eocene period(~80-36.4 Ma)and the late Oligocene period(~30-23.8 Ma),interspersed with two heating phases during the late Eocene to early Oligocene period(~36.4-30 Ma)and the Miocene epoch to recent times(~23.8-0 Ma),*** differences in exhumation histories between the western and eastern bulges during the late Eocene to Oligocene period in the SNLU can likely be attributed to differences in fault *** typical passive continental margin basins,the SNLU has experienced accelerated subsidence after the rifting phase,which began around 5.2 Ma *** possible mechanism for this abnormal post-rifting subsidence may be the decay or movement of the deep thermal source and the rapid cooling of the ***-term and multi-episodic cooling and exhumation processes play a key role in the alteration of bedrock and contribute to the formation of *** the other hand,rapid post-rifting subsidence(sedimentation)promotes the formation of cap rocks.
