Comparative analysis of astaxanthin and its esters in the mutant E1.of Haematococcus pluvialis and other green algae by HPLC with a C30 column

A gradient reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method using a C30 col-umn was developed for the simultaneous determination of astaxanthin, astaxanthin monoesters and astaxanthin diesters in the green algae Chlorococcum sp., Chlorella zofingiensis, Haematococcus plu-vialis and the mutant E1. which was obtained from the mutagenesis of H. pluvialis by exposure to UV-irradiation and ethyl methanesulphonate (EMS) with subsequent screening using nicotine. The re-sults showed that the contents of total astaxanthins including free astaxanthin and astaxanthin esters ranged from 1.4 to 30.9 mg/g dry biomass in these green algae. The lower total astaxanthin levels (2 mg/g dry biomass) were detected in the green algae Chlorococcum sp. and C. zofingiensis. The higher total astaxanthin levels (>1. mg/g dry biomass) were found in the green alga H. pluvialis and its mutant E1. It is notable that the mutant E1.is found to have considerably higher amounts of total astaxanthin (30.9 mg/g) as compared to the wild strain of H. pluvialis (1..1.mg/g). This indicates that UV-irradiation and EMS compound mutagenesis with subsequent screening using nicotine is an effective method for breeding of a high-producing astaxanthin strain of H. pluvialis. In addition, the green alga C. zofingien-sis had a remarkably higher percentage of astaxanthin diesters (76.3% of total astaxanthins) and a re-markably lower percentage of astaxanthin monoesters (1..0% of total astaxanthins) in comparison with H. pluvialis (35.5% for diesters and 60.9% for monoesters), the mutant E1.(49.1. and 48.1.) and Chlorococcum sp. (1..0% and 58.6%).

Based on the conclusion of modern scientific analysis: the cobalt-blue pigment applied on Jingdezhen official porcelain during yuan Dynasty and prior to Xuande reign of Ming Dynasty (1.71.1.25) contains high iron and low manganese con- tents, and the cobalt during Xuande and after Xuande periods (after 1.26) of Ming Dynasty contains high manganese and low iron contents, in combination with the traditional archaeological method, the related historical textual records were in- vestigated and analyzed, the imported cobalt employed on Jingdezhen official porcelain was studied comprehensively, systematically and logically. In fact, 'Su Ma Li Qing' (Samarra-blue) and 'Su Bo Ni Qing' (Sumatra-blue) are definitely different cobalt ores originated in different places, because of their very similar translitera- tions in {1., the confusion has appeared in ancient books for more than 400 years, which considered 'Su Ma Li Qing' and 'Su Bo Ni Qing' as the same co- balt-blue pigment. In this article the mistake was corrected, the possible producing places and the approximate eras of the two pigments imported to china and used at Jingdezhen were also suggested.

In this paper, a new theoretical expression of dissipation term is presented on the basis of statistical model of breaking wave, which is an improvement to LAGFD-WAM wave model. The computational results in three typical wind fields show a good improvement to LAGFD-WAM model and a better accuracy in comparison with the observed data in the South china Sea.

Alveolar bone regeneration has been strongly linked to macrophage polarization.M1.macrophages aggravate alveolar bone loss,whereas M2 macrophages reverse this ***(BBR),a natural alkaloid isolated and refined from chinese medicinal plants,has shown therapeutic effects in treating metabolic *** this study,we first discovered that culture supernatant(CS)collected from BBR-treated human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(HBMSCs)ameliorated periodontal alveolar bone *** from the BBR-treated HBMSCs contained bioactive materials that suppressed the M1.polarization and induced the M2 polarization of macrophages in vivo and in *** clarify the underlying mechanism,the bioactive materials were applied to different animal *** discovered macrophage colony-stimulating factor(M-CSF),which regulates macrophage polarization and promotes bone formation,a key macromolecule in the *** of pure M-CSF attenuated experimental periodontal alveolar bone loss in ***-stimulating factor 1.receptor(CSF1.)inhibitor or anti-human M-CSF(M-CSF neutralizing antibody,Nab)abolished the therapeutic effects of the CS of BBR-treated ***,AKT phosphorylation in macrophages was activated by the CS,and the AKT activator reversed the negative effect of the CSF1. inhibitor or *** results suggest that the CS of BBR-treated HBMSCs modulates macrophage polarization via the M-CSF/AKT *** studies also showed that CS of BBR-treated HBMSCs accelerated bone formation and M2 polarization in rat teeth extraction ***,our findings established an essential role of BBR-treated HBMSCs CS and this might be the first report to show that the products of BBR-treated HBMSCs have active effects on alveolar bone regeneration.

In this paper the parameterizational approach of nonlinear source function and the implicit scheme of the model are discussed in detail. The matching problem is solved between time and space steps using the characteristics inlaid scheme with very strong physical meaning. The computational comparison in typical winds shows some improvements to the WAM model. That the hindcast results of the model for typhoon cases are in good agreement with real data illustrates its applicability to wave forecast and engineering study.

Sectional velocity distribution of the East china Sea Kuroshio is one of the basic points in the study of the Kuroshio. Hydrographic temperature and salinity data at G-PN section in the East china Sea from June 1.55 to November 2001.are collected and properly processed to calculate the geostrophic cur-rent using dynamic height method at the transect of the Kuroshio. After analysis of calculation results, the basic current structure of the Kuroshio in its main part is examined together with scalar estimate and char-acters of multi- core structure, and spacial-temporal variations of current cores’ position. Main result shows that (1. single-core structure, double-core structure and multi-core structure are basic forms in axial part of the Kuroshio; (2) abvious temporal varia-tions exist in current structure of the Kuroshio; (3) the current of structure of the Kuroshio has distinctly seasonal association. The number of current cores is on the high side of core numbers in average and multi-core stucture appears in fall mostly.

In the surface wind drift layer with constant momentum flux, two sets of the consistent surface eleva- tion expressions with breaking and occurrence conditions for breaking are deduced from the first in- tegrals of the energy and vortex variations and the kinetic and mathematic breaking criterions, then the expression of the surface elevation with wave breaking is established by using the Heaviside function. On the basis of the form of the sea surface elevation with wave breaking and the understanding of small slope sea waves, a triple composite function of real sea waves is presented including the func- tions for the breaking, weak-nonlinear and basic waves. The expression of the triple composite func- tion and the normal distribution of basic waves are the expected theoretical model for surface elevation statistics.
