Impact of short-term ambient air pollution exposure on the risk of severe COVID-19

Ecological studies suggested a link between air pollution and severe COVID-19 outcomes,while studies accounting for individual-level characteristics are *** the present study,we aimed to investigate the impact of short-term ambient air pollution exposure on disease severity among a cohort of 569 laboratory confirmed COVID-19 patients admitted to designated hospitals in Zhejiang province,china,from January 17 to March 3,2.2.,and elucidate the possible biological processes involved using *** with mild cases,severe cases had higher proportion of medical conditions as well as unfavorable results in most of the laboratory tests,and manifested higher air pollution exposure *** exposure to air pollutants was associated with increased risk of severe COVID-19 with odds ratio(OR)of 1.89(95%confidence interval(CI):1.01,3.53),2.35(95%CI:1.2.,4.61),2.87(95%CI:1.68,4.91),and 2.01(95%CI:1.10,3.69)for PM_(2.5),PM_(10),NO_(2.and CO,*** for NO_(2.remained significant in two-pollutant models after adjusting for other *** analysis showed 884 differentially expressed genes which mainly were enriched in virus clearance related biological processes between patients with high and low NO_(2.exposure levels,indicating that compromised immune response might be a potential underlying mechanistic *** findings highlight the impact of shortterm air pollution exposure,particularly for NO_(2.,on COVID-19 severity,and emphasize the significance in mitigating the COVID-19 burden of commitments to improve air quality.

可再生能源发电具有较强的随机性和波动性,为实现高效可靠的场景建模,提出一种基于改进条件生成对抗网络的可控场景生成方法。提出基于条件生成对抗网络的场景生成框架,结合Transformer的全局注意力机制以及常规卷积和深度可分离卷积的局部泛化机制,设计适用于提取可再生能源发电不同维度特征的网络结构;利用条件生成对抗网络模型建立低维气象特征隐空间和高维可再生能源发电数据之间的映射关系,提出一种可控场景生成方法,并建立随机场景生成、场景约减、极端场景生成和连续日场景生成4种生成策略。基于实际光伏、风电数据和气象数据的仿真结果表明,所提模型与方法能够有效学习可再生能源发电的随机性、时序性、波动性及空间相关性,实现对不同策略下场景的可控生成。

Long-term performance of recycled asphalt mixtures containing high RAP and RAS

为安全、经济、公平的消纳分布式光伏,以整县光伏为研究场景,提出了一种考虑调控和交易模式影响的中低压分布式光伏协调配置方法。首先,分析了多电压等级协调和交易模式对分布式光伏接纳能力的影响。其次,以两个电压等级光伏并网容量为控制变量,建立联合考虑经济效益和调控能力多目标优化模型,目标一是多主体经济性最优,建立3种交易模式下各主体效益模型,并采用凸化和卡罗需-库恩-塔克条件转化为单层求解;目标二是计及电压调控能力的多电压等级消纳量最大,采用关联决策变量方法与目标一统一求解。最后通过中低压配网算例仿真,验证了所提模型的有效性和优越性,可为市场环境下分布式光伏多电压等级协调配置提供决策参考。

Gravity-driven membrane(GDM)systems have been well developed previously;however,impacts of driving(i.e.,transmembrane)pressure on their performance received little attention,which may infuence GDM *** this study,we evaluated 4 GDM systems via altering the transmembrane pressure from 50 mbar to 150 mbar with 2.groups,treating surface water in Beijing,*** showed that less driving pressure was more ***,compared to groups(150 mbar),groups under a pressure of 50 mbar were found to have greater normalized permeability and lower total *** the whole operation period,the quality of effuents was gradually *** example,the removal efficiency of UV2.4was significantly improved;particularly,under low driving pressure,the removal efficiency of UV2.4in PES GDM system increased by 11.91%,as compared to the corresponding system under high driving *** observation was consistent with the reduction on disinfection by-products(DBPs)formation potential;groups under 50 mbar achieved better DBPs potential control,indicating the advantages of lower driving *** were analyzed and responsible for these differences,and distinct distributions of bacteria communities of two GDM systems under 50 and 150 mbar may be responsible for various humic-like substances removal ***,GDM systems under less pressure should be considered and expected to provide suggestions on the design of GDM systems in real applications.

Wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)are important and energy-intensive municipal *** energy consumption and relatively low operating performance are major challenges from the perspective of carbon ***,water-energy nexus analysis and models for WWTPs have rarely been reported to *** this study,a cloud-model-based energy consumption analysis(CMECA)of a WWTP was conducted to explore the relationship between influent and energy consumption by clustering its influent’s *** principal component analysis(PCA)and K-means clustering were applied to classify the influent condition using water quality and volume *** energy consumption of the WWTP is divided into five standard evaluation levels,and its cloud digital characteristics(CDCs)were extracted according to bilateral constraints and golden ratio *** results showed that the energy consumption distribution gradually dispersed and deviated from the Gaussian distribution with decreased water concentration and *** days with high energy efficiency were extracted via the clustering method from the influent category of excessive energy consumption,represented by a compact-type energy consumption distribution curve to identify the influent conditions that affect the steady distribution of energy *** local WWTP has high energy consumption with 0.3613 kW·h·m^(-3)despite low influent concentration and volumes,across four consumption levels from low(I)to relatively high(IV),showing an unsatisfactory operation and management *** average oxygenation capacity,internal reflux ratio,and external reflux ratio during high energy efficiency days recognized by further clustering were obtained(0.2.2.-0.3703 kg O_(2.·m^(-3),1.9576-2.4787,and 0.6603-0.8361,respectively),which could be used as a guide for the days with low energy ***,this study offers a water-energy nexus analysis method to identify influent conditions with operational manageme

Nano-enabled silicone-rubber articles for feeding or chewing could be a source of metallic nanoparticles(NPs)directly exposed to infants and young ***,the impact of steam disinfection on release of NPs and the related potential risks to children's health are ***,we investigated contents and form of Ag and Zn in 57 nano-enabled silicone-rubber baby bottle teats,pacifiers,and teethers of seven countries and examined the impacts of steam disinfection on in vitro bioaccessibility(IVBA)of Ag and Zn in the *** 89%articles had a mixture of Ag-and Zn-containing NPs and the teethers had relatively high Ag and Zn contents(up to 501 and 2.4μg/g,respectively).Steam disinfection caused rubber decomposition into micro(nano)plastics(0.54-15.7μm)and NP release from the interior of bulk rubber and micro-sized plastics,thus enhancing the IVBA of Ag and Zn by up to 5.5 *** findings provide insights into mechanisms for NP release by steam *** oral exposure risk assessment suggested low health concerns on individual metal release,our study points out the need to assess the potential health risks of child co-exposure to metallic NPs and micro(nano)plastics.

Surface vitrification of carbon by laser treatment: Insights of glass formation from molecular dynamics

Microstructural modification of carbon materials,such as carbon fibers(Cf)and pyrolytically deposited carbon,is important for engineering ***,the regulation of these materials is not an effortless *** understand the impacts of thermal spikes from pulsed laser processing on the structural adaptation of amorphous carbon(a-C),we performed melt quenching by molecular dynamics(MD)*** results confirm that the vitrification behavior of carbon can be tuned by adjusting the cooling rate(R),which is controlled by the thermal spikes of laser ***,we set up a two-step way to locate the critical cooling rate(R_(c))of monoatomic carbon,which is refined by the sharp change in the environmental similarity *** this novel technique,we demonstrate that the ordering degree and the local atomic motif can be largely modified by going across a bar of 100 K/ps,which is extracted as the critical cooling rate to ensure the complete amorphization of *** approach provides a criterion for both experimentally processing and theoretically simulating a-C ***,this work provides guidelines on how to tune the amorphous carbon structures of engineering materials and provides an outlook for the wonderland of amorphous carbon materials.

Along with the global warming in the recent scores of years, comparatively big changes have taken place in the weather and other environmental conditions of the permafrost area in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and very big changes have also occurred in the engineering geological conditions of the permafrost area. Based on a large volume of field survey data, this paper discusses the regularities of horizontal and vertical distribution of permafrost, with its focus of analysis on the temperature change characteristics of the soil in different frozen-soil zones, as well as presents simulation analysis and research for the engineering geologic characteristic response changes that would occur in the future when the temperature of the frozen soil in different zones rises by 1 and 2.6℃ respectively, which will have a tremendous impact on the stability of constructional work.
