Effect of Rapid Cold Hardening on the Cold Tolerance of the Larvae of the Rice Stem Borer,Chilo suppressalis(Walker)

The effects of rapid cold hardening （RCH） on the cold tolerance of the last instar larvae of Chilo suppressalis （Walker） were evaluated for the first time. The discriminating temperature, induction, detection, duration and extent of RCH of the larvae in the laboratory were tested, and the supercooling points （SCPs） and the contents of water and lipid of the larvae after RCH treatment were determined, respectively. The results showed that the discriminating temperature of the larvae was about -21℃. Mean survival rates of the larvae which exposed to either 0 or 5℃ for 2 and 4 h before exposure to the discriminating temperature for 2 h were significantly higher than those of the control groups （P 〈 0.05）. Moreover, the highest survival rate appeared in the larvae after 0℃ for 4 h treatment. The protection against low temperature gained by RCH at 0℃ for 4 h was rapidly lost on return to 28℃. Mean survival rates of RCH larvae were significantly higher than those of non-acclimated （NACC） larvae and acclimation （ACC） larvae when they were exposed to the discriminating temperature for 2 or 4 h （P〈 0.05）. Moreover, the rates of NACC, ACC, RCH and ACC ＋ RCH larvae from 2 to 6 h to the discriminating temperature resulted in a significant decline. The values of SCPs and the contents of lipid of the larvae which exposed to either 0 or 5℃ for 2 and 4 h showed no significant difference at 0.05 level compared to those of the control groups. But the contents of water in the larvae were obviously decreased. Therefore, it could be concluded that RCH could enhance cold tolerance and affect partly physiological and biochemical components of the larvae of C. suppressalis, but the underlying mechanisms needs to be further explored.

Adaptive VDI Session Placement via User Logoff Prediction

After the global pandemic,DaaS(desktop as a service)has become the first choice of many companies’remote working *** the desktops are usually deployed in the public cloud when using DaaS,customers are more cost-sensitive which boosts the requirement of proactive power *** researches in this area focus on virtual desktop infrastructure(VDI)session logon behavior modeling,but for the remote desktop service host(RDSH)-shared desktop pools,logoff optimization is also *** systems place sessions by round-robin or in a pre-defined order without considering their logoff ***,these approaches usually suffer from the situation that few left sessions prevent RDSH servers from being powered-off which introduces cost *** this paper,we propose session placement via adaptive user logoff prediction(SODA),an innovative compound model towards proactive RDSH session ***,an ensemble machine learning model that can predict session logoff time is combined with a statistical session placement bucket model to place RDSH sessions with similar logoff time in a more centralized manner on RDSH ***,the infrastructure cost-saving can be improved by reducing the resource waste introduced by those RDSH hosts with very few hanging sessions left for a long *** on real RDSH pool data demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed proactive session placement approach against existing static placement techniques.

Global interest in lithium-sulfur batteries as one of the most promising energy storage technologies has been sparked by their low sulfur cathode cost,high gravimetric,volumetric energy densities,abundant resources,and environmental ***,their practical application is significantly impeded by several serious issues that arise at the cathode-electrolyte interface,such as interface structure degradation including the uneven deposition of Li_(2)S,unstable cathode-electrolyte interphase(CEI)layer and intermediate polysulfide shuttle ***,an optimized cathode-electrolyte interface along with optimized electrodes is required for overall ***,we comprehensively outline the challenges and corresponding strategies,including electrolyte optimization to create a dense CEI layer,regulating the Li_(2)S deposition pattern,and inhibiting the shuttle effect with regard to the solid-liquid-solid pathway,the transformation from solid-liquid-solid to solid-solid pathway,and solid-solid pathway at the cathode-electrolyte *** order to spur more perceptive research and hasten the widespread use of lithium-sulfur batteries,viewpoints on designing a stable interface with a deep comprehension are also put forth.

同一样品不同厚度(b_1和b_2)的两单光束谱ф_(b_1)和ф_(b_2)经线性组合得到杂化单光束谱ф_α=αф_(b_1)+(1-α)ф_(b_2)=αф_0e-Kb_1+(1-α)ф_0e^(-Kb_2),α为杂化系数。通过改变杂化系数α,就可获得任意强度的杂化谱ф_α。系统研究了杂化光谱ф_α的性质。研究表明,只要控制合适的条件,则厚度为(b_2-αb_2+αb_1)的真实样品的单光束谱ф_b(b=b_2-αb_2+αb_1)与杂化谱ф_α高度相似,ф_α的失真程度可忽略不计。也就是说,厚度在b_1~b_2间任一厚度b的真实样品的单光束谱都可用杂化谱ф_α来表达,ф_α≈ф_b。因此,不需制备厚度为b的样品,通过改变杂化系数α就可获得研究者所希望强度的单光束谱ф_b。杂化谱方法有望在扣除背景干扰等方面得到广泛应用。

The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of a Fe-0.12C-0.2Si-1.6Mn-0.3Cr-0.0025B(wt.%)steel with different initial microstructures,i.e.,hot rolled(HR)and cold rolled-annealed(CRA),were studied through optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy,electron channeling contrast imaging,microhardness and room temperature uniaxial tensile *** water quenching from 930℃ to room temperature,a fully martensitic microstructure was obtained in both as-quenched HR and CRA specimens,which shows a microhardness of 480±5 HV,and no significant difference in microstructure and microhardness was *** test results show that the product of tensile strength and total elongation(UTS×TE)of the as-quenched HR specimen,i.e.,24.1 GPa%,is higher than that of the as-quenched CRA specimen,i.e.,18.9 GPa%.While,after being tempered at 300℃,the martensitic microstructures and mechanical properties of the two as-quenched specimens change significantly due to the synergy role of the matrix phase softening and the precipitation *** the maximum UTS×TE,it is 18.9 GPa%obtained in the as-quenched CRA one,while that is 24.4 GPa%obtained in the HR specimen after tempered at 300℃ for 5 min.

To elucidate the formation mechanisms of burn-on sand and metal penetration during sand casting,some laboratory experiments were carried out at different temperatures(1813,1833,1853,and 1873 K)and holding time(20,40,60,and 90 min)to simulate the interaction between ZG13Cr9Mo1VNbN stainless steel and chromite *** results demonstrate that the defects primarily consist of a mixture of the liquid phase,chromite,and *** main components of the liquid phase are SiO_(2),MnO,MgO,Cr_(2)O_(3),FeO,and Al_(2)O_(3),and the formation of Cr_(2)O_(3)through interfacial redox reactions has been *** presence of a liquid phase plays a pivotal role in influencing burn-on sand and metal *** reactions are prioritized,with burn-on sand maintaining a predominant *** the liquid phase quantity within the sand escalates,there is a corresponding incremental rise in the incidence of metal *** a minimal presence of the silicon element in steel can impact the liquid phase’s ***,the decomposition or dissolution of chromite sand is a significant factor in the development of burn-on sand and metal ***,a thorough investigation into the conditions and contributing factors of this phenomenon is essential for its effective management and mitigation.
