This study is undertaken to understand how calcite precipitation and dissolution contributes to depth-related changes in porosity and permeability of gas-bearing sandstone reservoirs in the Kela 2 gas field of the Tarim Basin, Northwestern china. Sandstone samples and pore water samples are col-lected from well KL201 in the Tarim Basin. Vertical profiles of porosity, permeability, pore water chem-istry, and the relative volume abundance of calcite/dolomite are constructed from 3600 to 4000 m below the ground surface within major oil and gas reservoir rocks. Porosity and permeability values are in-versely correlated with the calcite abundance, indicating that calcite dissolution and precipitation may be controlling porosity and permeability of the reservoir rocks. Pore water chemistry exhibits a sys-tematic variation from the Na2SO4 type at the shallow depth (3600-3630 m), to the NaHCO3 type at the intermediate depth (3630―3695 m),and to the CaCl2 type at the greater depth (3728―3938 m). The geochemical factors that control the calcite solubility include pH, temperature, pressure, Ca2+ concen-tration, the total inorganic carbon concentration (ΣCO2), and the type of pore water. Thermodynamic phase equilibrium and mass conservation laws are applied to calculate the calcite saturation state as a function of a few key parameters. The model calculation illustrates that the calcite solubility is strongly dependent on the chemical composition of pore water, mainly the concentration difference between the total dissolved inorganic carbon and dissolved calcium concentration (i.e., [ΣCO2] -[Ca2+]). In the Na2SO4 water at the shallow depth, this index is close to 0, pore water is near the calcite solubility. Calcite does not dissolve or precipitate in significant quantities. In the NaHCO3 water at the intermedi-ate depth, this index is greater than 0, and pore water is supersaturated with respect to calcite. Based on the equilibrium theory of chemical reactions between water and rocks,this paper establishes a thermodynamic phase relationship diagram among calcites,dolomites and water solution under the condition of diagenesis based on the thermodynamic database of related minerals and fluids and dolomite's degree of order *** has been discovered that the equilibrium between calcites and dolomites in the diagenetic environment is strongly impacted by temperature and the Ca/Mg ratios in groundwater,and that the dolomite's degree of order in the diagenetic environment is a function of crystallization temperature and time,not controlled by water ***,the authors make a further analysis of the close relationship of chemical reaction between carbonate cements and pore water in the sandstone reservoirs of Kala 2 gas field in Kuche *** can be seen that there are different impacts on sandstone reservoir quality among the equilibrium system of calcites,dolomites and pore water at different depths of reservoirs.

Experimental study on interaction between simulated sandstone and acidic fluid

In order to investigate the controlling mechanism of temperature, fluid and other factors on water-rock interaction in the diagenetic process, we performed a series of simulated experiments on the interaction between two kinds of fluids with different salinity and a composite mineral system （simulated sandstone）, which contains albite, K-feldspar and other minerals. The experimental results showed that acidity was the most important factor that affected the dissolution of minerals in the composite mineral system. The lower the pH value, the more easily the minerals dissolved. At the same pH value, the dissolution abilities of different acids for various mineral components were also different. Compared to hydrochloric acid （inorganic acid）, oxalic acid （organic acid） was more able to dissolve aluminosilicate minerals. However, the dissolution ability of oxalic acid for carbonate minerals was lower than that of hydrochloric acid. In the process of fluid-rock interaction, dissolution of feldspar was relatively complicated. Increase of temperature would accelerate the dissolution of feldspar. Under acidic conditions, albite had a higher dissolution rate than K-feldspar. K-feldspar could dissolve and convert into montmorillonite and kaolinite, while albite could dissolve and convert into kaolinite both at 40℃ and 80℃. Presence of organic acid, and decrease of pH value and water salinity were all favorable for the dissolution of feldspar, but weakened the ability to form clay minerals.

Carbonate reservoirs modified by magmatic intrusions in the Bachu area,Tarim Basin,NW china

Oil and gas exploration in carbonate rocks was extremely successful in recent years in the Ordovician in Tarim *** ***,we investigate the carbonate reservoirs in the Bachu area of the Tarim Basin through petrological and geochemical studies combined with oil and gas exploration *** analysis included the major,trace,and rare earth elements;fluid inclusion thermometry;clay mineral characterization;and carbon and oxygen isotopes of the carbonate *** temperatures of the fluid inclusions of Well He-3 in the Bachu area indicate three groups,60-80 ℃,90-130 ℃,and 140-170 ℃,and suggest that the carbonate rocks experienced modification due to heating *** porosity in the reservoir is defined by fractures and secondary pores,and there is a notable increase in the porosity of the carbonate reservoirs in proximity to magmatic intrusion,particularly approximately 8-10 m from the intrusive *** development of secondary pores was controlled by lithofacies and corrosion by various *** identify supercritical fluids with high density（138.12-143.97 mg/cm3） in the Bachu *** negative correlations of δ13C（-2.76‰ to-0.97‰） and δ18O（-7.91‰ to-5.07‰） suggest that the carbonate rocks in the study area were modified by high-salinity hydrothermal *** formation of clay minerals,such as illite and montmorillonite,caused a decrease in *** study demonstrates the effect of magmatic intrusions in modifying the reservoir characteristics of carbonate rocks and has important implications for oil and gas exploration.

中—晚三叠世的鄂尔多斯盆地沉积了一套优质的砂岩储层,目前对该套砂岩的成因及其空间分布已经有了成熟的认识,然而在中—晚三叠世鄂尔多斯原型盆地的确切边界位置、盆内古地理演化的构造成因机制等问题上依然存在不少争议。本文通过对鄂尔多斯盆内及周缘57个露头及165口钻井的层序地层学与沉积学研究,厘定了鄂尔多斯盆地在中—晚三叠世的边界位置并在层序格架下开展了古地理演化研究,同时探讨了古地理演化的构造成因。研究表明:中—晚三叠世鄂尔多斯盆地的北部边界从内蒙古的达拉特旗向东延伸至山西大同,东部边界应在山西宁武—太原—太谷—永和—河南安阳—开封—登封一线附近,南部边界为北秦岭(NQT)与华北板块的缝合带(陕西西安—洛南—河南栾川—南召沿线以南),西南以六盘山的西部断层边缘为界,西北界位于贺兰山西部断层边缘带,西部边界延伸至河西走廊盆地的西部边界(甘肃马良沟附近)。在中—上三叠统延长组识别出4个沉积旋回(SQ1 SQ4),代表了从起始阶段(SQ1)到最大沉降阶段(SQ2和SQ3)再到后期关闭阶段(SQ4)的湖泊演化过程。中—晚三叠世鄂尔多斯盆地内呈现出北部/东北部的曲流河三角洲沉积体系和南部/西南部冲积扇辫状河三角洲沉积体系汇聚的沉积格局,在空间上表现出明显的南北差异,在时间上呈现出沉积中心的东西破坏分异的演化特征。这种古地貌差异和演化主要受控于秦岭—大别山造山带(QDOB)与兴安岭—蒙古造山带(XMOB)的不同构造演化过程。盆地南部的古地理演化主要受控于QDOB的活动,中—晚三叠世勉略洋闭合驱动的北秦岭造山带活化不仅导致盆地南部陡坡带的形成和盆地东南部古地貌的突变,也导致晚三叠世盆地西南部发育一个分隔内克拉通盆地及西南缘类前陆盆地的水下低隆。盆地西部的古地貌演化受控于多种构造机制,中三叠世现今六盘山地区发育一个南北向的低隆区,很可能是盆地东南部的强烈挤压下的远端效应;晚三叠世中期后该低隆区发生下沉,现今鄂尔多斯盆地与河西走廊地区连通,这很可能是由盆地西南方特提斯构造域挤压作用下的盆内挠曲沉降导致的。这些认识不仅是对盆山耦合理论的补充,也对鄂尔多斯盆地石油和天然气的后期勘探具有重要的现实意义。
