The genetic adaptations of various organisms to heterogeneous environments in the northwestern Pacific remain poorly *** genomic divergence among populations may reflect *** understanding of the mechanisms by which organisms adapt to different temperatures in response to climate change and predicting the adaptive potential and ecological consequences of anthropogenic global warming are *** sequenced the whole genomes of Japanese whiting(Sillago japonica)specimens collected from different latitudinal locations along the coastal waters of China and Japan to detect possible thermal *** population genomics,a total of 5.48 million single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)from five populations revealed a complete genetic break between the Chinese and Japanese groups,which was attributed to both geographic distance and local *** shared natural selection genes between two isolated populations(i.e.,Zhoushan and Ise Bay/Tokyo Bay)indicated possible parallel evolution at the genetic level induced by *** genes also indicated that the process of temperature selection on isolated populations is ***,we observed natural candidate genes related to membrane fluidity,possibly underlying adaptation to cold environmental *** findings advance our understanding of the genetic mechanisms underlying the rapid adaptations of fish *** distribution projection models suggested that the Chinese and Japanese groups may have different responses to future climate change,with the former expanding and the latter *** findings of this study enhance our understanding of genetic differentiation and adaptation to changing environments.

Non-destructive study of fruits using grating-based X-ray imaging

Grating-based X-ray imaging can make use of conventional tube sources to provide absorption, refraction and scattering contrast images from a single set of projection images efficiently. In this paper, a fresh cherry tomato and a dried umeboshi are imaged by using X-ray Talbot–Lau interferometer. The seed distribution in the scattering image of the cherry tomato, and the wrinkles of epicarp in the refraction image of the umeboshi, are shown distinctly. The refraction and scattering images provide more information on subtle features than the absorption image. Also, the contrast-to-noise ratio values show distinguishing capacity of the three kinds of imaging techniques. The results confirm that grating-based X-ray imaging is of great potential in non-destructive fruit testing.

Investigation into keyhole-weld pool dynamic behaviors based on HDR vision sensing of real-time K-TIG welding process through a steel/glass sandwich

To obtain a deep insight into keyhole tungsten inert gas welding,it is necessary to observe the dynamic behavior of the weld pool and *** this study,based on the steel/glass sandwich and high dynamic range camera,a vision system is developed and the keyhole-weld pool profiles are captured during the real-time welding ***,to analyze the dynamic behavior of the weld pool and keyhole,an image processing algorithm is proposed to extract the compression depth of the weld pool and the geometric parameters of the keyhole from the captured *** considering the variations of these parameters over time,it was found that the front and rear lengths of the keyhole were dynamically adjusted internally and had opposite trends according to the real-time welding status while the length of the keyhole was in a quasi-steady *** proposed vision-based observation method lays a solid foundation for studying the weld forming process and improving keyhole tungsten inert gas welding.

Residual Curvature of Longitudinal Profile Plate Roller in Leveling Process

Roller leveling process of longitudinal profile （LP） plate is hardly studied because plate thickness changes. Deformation characteristics and residual curvature during LP plate leveling process were investigated based on curva ture integral by elastic plastic differences. It was found that entry intermesh section is reduced with increasing thick- ness and entry intermesh should be from 0.7 to 1.1 mm for LP plate with 42/54 mm in thickness. In order to get satisfactory flatness along longitudinal direction, small entry intermesh should be selected and exit intermesh should be 0 ram. In addition, thickness section for I.P plate which can be leveled by 11 roller leveler is from 24 to 60 mm. Finally, there is an intermesh schedule that could level LP plate with initial curvature less than elastic limit curvature.

Risk factors for prostatic inflammation extent and infection in benign prostatic hyperplasia

Aim： To investigate the risk factors for prostatic inflammation extent and infection in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia （BPH） so as to manage prostatic inflammation more efficiently. Methods： Sixty patients with BPH undergoing TURP between September 2005 and December 2005 in West China Hospital of Sichuan University were studied. Prostate fluid （PF） was collected for the measurement of secretory IgA （SIgA） and complement 3 （C3）. Prostate tissue were collected for testing bacterial 16S rDNA by real-time PCR, examining SIgA in the tissue and examining the inflammation. The possible clinical and immune risk factors for prostatic inflammation or infection were analyzed by using the logistic regression method. Results： Abnormal white blood cell count in urinalysis, prostatic infection and a high concentration of C3 in PF are the risk factors for prostatic inflammation extent （P = 0.025, 0.034 and 0.035, respectively and odds ratio [OR] = 18.269, 8.284 and 1.508, respectively）. Risk factors for prostatic infection include the C3 concentration and the concentration of SIgA in PF （P = 0.003 and 0.013, respectively, and OR=1.645 and 0.993, respectively）. Conclusion： The present study suggests that prostatic inflammation is associated with urinary tract infection, prostatic infection and the activated complement and that prostatic infection is associated with the activated complement and downregulated mucosal immunity in prostates of the patients with BPH. It is also suggested that individual immune regulation should be considered in the treatment of prostatic inflammation and infection of patients with BPH.

BACKGROUND Polygonum multiflorum is one of the leading causes of herb-induced liver injury in ***-B*35:01 is reported to be a potential biomarker of Polygonum multiflorum-induced liver injury(PM-DILI).However,little is known about the relationship between single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) and *** To identify SNPs that indicate susceptibility to PM-DILI METHODS We conducted a systematic study enrolling 382 participants from four independent hospitals,including 73 PM-DILI patients,118 patients with other drug-induced liver injury(other-DILI) and 191 healthy ***-exome sequencing was performed for 8 PM-DILI patients and 8 healthy controls who were randomly selected from the above *** SNPs that showed high frequencies in the 8 PM-DILI patients were selected as candidate SNPs and then screened in 65 PM-DILI patients,118 other-DILI patients and 183 healthy controls using the MassARRAY ***-B high-resolution genotyping was performed for the 73 PM-DILI and 118 other-DILI *** Han-MHC database was selected as a population control for HLA-B analysis.P <6.25 x 103 after Bolferroni correction was considered *** The frequencies of rslll686806 in the HLA-A gene,rs1055348 in the HLA-B gene,and rs202047044 in the HLA-DRB1 gene were significantly higher in the PM-DILI group than in the control group [27.2% vs 11.6%,P=1.72×105,odds ratio(OR)=3.96,95% confidence interval(Cl):2.21-7.14;42.5% vs 8.6%,P=1.72×10-19 OR=13.62,95% CI:7.16-25.9;22.9% vs 8.1%,P=4.64×106,OR=4.1,95% CI:2.25-7.47].Only rs1055348 showed a significantly higher frequency in the PM-DILI group than in the other-DILI group(42.5% vs 13.6%,P=1.84×10-10,OR=10.06,95% Cl:5.06-20.0),which suggested that it is a specific risk factor for ***1055348 may become a tag for HLA-B*35:01 with 100% sensitivity and 97.7% specificity in the PM-DILI group and 100% sensitivity and 98.1% specificity in the other-DILI ***,HLA-B*35:01 was confirmed t

Cost-benefit analysis of screening for esophageal and gastric cardiac cancer

In 2005, a program named "Early Detection and Early Treatment of Esophageal and Cardiac Cancer" (EDETEC) was initiated in China. A total of 8279 residents aged 40-69 years old were recruited into the EDETEC program in Linzhou of Henan Province between 2005 and 2008. Howerer, the cost-benefit of the EDETEC program is not very clear yet. We conducted herein a cost-benefit analysis of screening for esophageal and cardiac cancer. The assessed costs of the EDETEC program included screening costs for each subject, as well as direct and indirect treatment costs for esophageal and cardiac severe dysplasia and cancer detected by screening. The assessed benefits of this program included the saved treatment costs, both direct and indirect, on esophageal and cardiac cancer, as well as the value of prolonged life due to screening, as determined by the human capital approach. The results showed the screening cost of finding esophageal and cardiac severe dysplasia or cancer ranged from $2707 to $4512, and the total cost on screening and treatment was $13 115-$14 920. The cost benefit was $58 944-$155 110 (the saved treatment cost, $17 730, plus the value of prolonged life, $41 214-$137 380). The ratio of benefit-to-cost (BCR) was 3.95-11.83. Our results suggest that EDETEC has a high benefit-to-cost ratio in China and could be instituted into high risk areas of China.
