Novel protection systems for the improvement in soil and water stability of expansive soil slopes

To improve the soil and water stability of expansive soil slopes and reduce the probability of slope failure,novel protection systems based on polymer waterproof coatings(PWC)were used in this ***,three groups of expansive soil slope model tests were designed to investigate the effects of polyester nonwovens and PWC(P-PWC)composite protection system,three-dimensional vegetation network and PWC(T-PWC)composite protection system,and nonprotection on the soil and water behavior in the slopes under precipitation–evaporation *** results showed that the moisture change of P-PWC and T-PWC composite protected slopes was significantly smaller than that of bare slope,which reduced the sensitivity of slope moisture to environmental changes and improved its *** soil temperature of the slope protected by the P-PWC and T-PWC systems at a depth of 70 cm increased by 5.6℃ and 2.7℃,*** PWC composite protection systems exhibited better thermal storage performance,which could increase the utilization of shallow geothermal ***,the maximum average crack widths of the bare slopes were 7.89 and 3.17 times those of the P-PWC and TPWC protected slopes,respectively,and the maximum average crack depths were 6.87 and 3 times those of the P-PWC and T-PWC protected slopes,*** PPWC protection system weakened the influence of hydro–thermal coupling on the slopes,inhibited the development of cracks on the slopes,and reduced the soil *** maximum soil erosion of slopes protected by P-PWC and T-PWC systems was 332 and 164 times lower than that of bare slope,*** P-PWC and T-PWC protection systems achieved excellent"anti-seepage and moisture retention"and anti-erosion effects,thus improving the soil and water stability of *** findings can provide important guiding reference for controlling rainwater infiltration and soil erosion in expansive soil slope projects.

Photoselective Vaporesection of the Prostate with an End-firing Lithium Triborate Crystal Laser

Background： Photoselective vaporization of the prostate is a technique that is widely used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia （BPH） and has pronounced advantages compared to the traditional transurethral resection of the prostate. Following the recent introduction of end-firing lithium triborate lasers, we have created a new technique called photoselective vaporesection of tile prostate （PVRP）. This study described our initial experience using the PVRP technique for the treatment of BPH. Methods： This prospective study included a total of 35 patients with BPH who underwent PVRP from August 2013 to July 2014. The chief clinical parameters were obtained and evaluated during the perioperative period and follow-up, including the International Prostate Symptom Score （IPSS）, quality of life （QoL） score, maximum urinary flow rate, and prostate volume. All variables were evaluated for statistically significant differences compared to baseline values using the analysis of variance. Results： The mean subgroup IPSS and QoL scores significantly improved during tbllow-up; the respective decreases in IPSS storage score, IPSS voiding score, IPSS nocturia score, and QoL score were 75.3%, 83.6%, 51.4%, and 71.7%, respectively （all P 〈 0.001 compared with baseline）. Three patients were diagnosed with prostate cancer based on postoperative pathological examinations. There were no serious perioperative complications. Conclusion： The PVRP technique demonstrates satisfactory short-term clinical outcomes and perioperative safety in the treatment of BPH.

Relationships between Phosphatidylglycerol Molecular Species of Thylakoid Membrane Lipids and Sensitivities to Chilling-induced Photoinhibition in Rice

In an attempt to explore the relationships between phosphatidylglycerol （PG） molecular species of thylakoid membrane lipids and sensitivities to chilling-induced photoinhibition, PG molecular species, D1 protein, electron transport activities of thylakoid membrane and the potential quantum yield （FvlFm） in rice treated under middle and low photon flux density （PFD） at 11℃ were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography, enzyme hydrolysis, gas phase chromatography （GC） and so on. Results showed that the major molecular species of PGs in rice thylakoid membrane were 18：3/16：0, 18：3/16：1（3t）, 18：2/16：0, 18：2/16：1（3t）, 18：1/16：0, 18：1/16：1（3t）, 16：0/16：0, 16：0/16：1（3t）. There were large differences in the contents of unsaturated PG molecular species such as 18：1-3/16：0-16：1（3t） and saturated PG molecular species like 16：0/16：0-16：1（3t） among japonica cv 9516 0-9516）, japonica-indica hybrid F1 j-9516/i-SY63 （ji-95SY） and indica cv Shanyou 63 （i-SY63）. J-9516 containing higher contents of unsaturated PG molecular species was manifest in stable D1 protein contents under chill and tolerant to chill-induced photoinhibition. In contrast to j-9516, i-SY63 with lower contents of unsaturated PG molecular species, exhibited unstable D1 protein contents under chill and was sensitive to chill-induced photoinhibition, ji-95SY containing middle contents of unsaturated PG molecular species between those of j-9516 and i-SY63, exhibited mid extent of sensitivity to chill-induced photoinhibition. The losses in D1 protein also account for the inhibition in electron transport activity of thylakoid membrane and the observed decline in FvlFm. The PG molecular species that is efficient in raising chilling-resistant capacity were those containing unsaturated fatty acids, namely, unsaturated PG molecular species. With the development of biomolecular modeling and simulation,especially implicit solvent modeling,higher requirements are set for the stability,efficiency and mesh quality of molecular mesh generation *** this review,we summarize the recent works in biomolecular mesh generation and molecular ***,we introduce various definitions of molecular surface and corresponding meshing ***,as the mesh quality significantly influences biomolecular simulation,we investigate some remeshing methods in the fields of computer graphics and molecular ***,we show the application of biomolecular mesh in the boundary element method(BEM)and the finite element method(FEM).Finally,to conveniently visualize the numerical results based on the mesh,we present two types of molecular visualization systems.

A Measuring Solution for Mechanical Characteristics of MO Disks

Mechanical characteristics of MO disk are vital for the designer of the drives and the manufacturers who provide the mass-product MO disks. So measuring mechanical characteristics is very significant. We compares the existing measuring methods and gives some novel measuring methods we adopted in details. The measuring system based upon these methods was introduced too. Some typical measuring results are also shown in this paper.

Development and Mechanical Properties of a Novel Woven Artificial Tracheal Stent

In this paper, the development of existing artificial tracheal stents was briefly introduced. Their structures, strengths and weaknesses were analyzed. A new woven artificial tracheal stent that used leno-based construction was designed and fabricated at last. Additionally, a preliminary mechanical study was carried out on the new artificial tracheal stent, such as the radial supporting force and the elastic restoring force, making foundation for application of the new artificial tracheal stent.

磨刀门是珠江八大口门中输水、输沙量最大的口门,也是珠江最重要的泄洪通道,在珠江三角洲水系中占有极其重要的地位,研究其拦门沙冲淤演变模式对磨刀门河口地貌演变趋势分析及未来治理开发工程规划具有指导意义。以2005年6月典型大洪水过程为例,建立二维波流耦合的泥沙数学模型,分析磨刀门河口拦门沙冲淤演变特征。结果显示,典型大洪水条件下,上游来水来沙丰富,波浪对泥沙的转运作用相对被弱化,能够在较短时间内促进浅滩等沙体发育,形成新的地貌单元,并促进两侧沙体以沙嘴的形态快速向前淤进,伴随发育河口次级分汊地貌单元。研究表明,影响河口冲淤演变特征的因素包括河道地形、流场、余流余沙场及水流挟沙力等,上游来水来沙量、潮汐、波浪等因素则主导河口拦门沙演变模式。

腰肌劳损是一种由腰部肌肉、筋膜、韧带等软组织损伤导致的炎症性疾病,临床常表现为反复发作不同程度的腰骶部酸胀痛,可向臀部放射,活动受限,多在扭转、久坐久立及天气变化时加重,通常在短暂休息或改变体位后,疼痛得到一定程度的缓解。本病的病理机制主要与肌组织及其附着点处的过度牵拉,导致局部反应性炎症、局部组织变性有关。近年来,中西医在本病的治疗方面均取得了显著进展,乙酰氨基酚、阿司匹林、塞来昔布等非甾体类抗炎药以及镇痛药效果较好,但存在不良反应,而中药内服、外敷、推拿、艾灸、康复锻炼等中医疗法效果显著,作用时间久,不容易复发,深受患者喜爱。腰肌劳损在军事训练伤中较为常见,管理者与临床医生也开展了系列研究。

Characteristics of intracranial plaque in patients with non-cardioembolic stroke and intracranial large vessel occlusion

Objective To determine the characteristics of intracranial plaque proximal to large vessel occlusion(LVO)in stroke patients without major-risk cardioembolic source using 3.0 T high-resolution MRI(HR-MRI).Methods We retrospectively enrolled eligible patients from January 2015 to July *** multidimensional parameters of plaque such as remodelling index(RI),plaque burden(PB),percentage lipid-rich necrotic core(%LRNC),presence of discontinuity of plaque surface(DPS),fibrous cap rupture,intraplaque haemorrhage and complicated plaque were evaluated by *** Among 279 stroke patients,intracranial plaque proximal to LVO was more prevalent in the ipsilateral versus contralateral side to stroke(75.6%vs 58.8%,p<0.001).The larger PB(p<0.001),RI(p<0.001)and%LRNC(p=0.001),the higher prevalence of DPS(61.1%vs 50.6%,p=0.041)and complicated plaque(63.0%vs 50.6%,p=0.016)were observed in the plaque ipsilateral versus contralateral to *** analysis showed that RI and PB were positively associated with an ischaemic stroke(RI:crude OR:1.303,95%CI 1.072 to 1.584,p=0.008;PB:crude OR:1.677,95%CI 1.381 to 2.037,p<0.001).In subgroup with<50%stenotic plaque,the greater PB,RI,%LRNC and the presence of complicated plaque were more closely related to stroke,which was not evident in subgroup with≥50%stenotic *** This is the first study to report the characteristics of intracranial plaque proximal to LVO in non-cardioembolic *** provides potential evidence to support different aetiological roles of<50%stenotic vs≥50%stenotic intracranial plaque in this population.
