Predictive value of ^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT for transarterial chemolipiodolization of hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM： To investigate the correlation of 18F-fluorodeoxy- glucose （18F-FDG） positron emission tomography （PET） with clinical features and the prediction of treatment response. METHODS： A total of 83 hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） patients undergoing 18F-FDG PET before transar- terial chemolipiodolization with systemic chemo-infusion between October, 2006 and May, 2009 were retrospec-tively enrolled. The patients included 68 men and 15 women （mean age, 60 ~ 10.7 years）. The effect of 18F- FDG-monitored PET uptake on clinical features and on the evaluated treatment response was ascertained with modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors. The PET parameters of maximal standardized uptake value of the tumor （Tsuvmax）, the ratio of the tumor maximal standardized uptake value （SUV） to the liver maximal SUV （Tsuvmax/Lsuwax） and the ratio of tumor maximal SUV to the liver mean SUV （msuvmax/LSUVrnean） were tested as predictive factors. RESULTS： Among the 3 SUV parameters, the TSUV- =maxdLsuvmean ratio （cutoff value of 1.90） was significantly associated with tumor burden including tumor size, tu- mor number, α-fetoprotein levels and tumor stage （P 〈 0.001, P = 0.008, P = 0.011, P 〈 0.001, respectively）. The objective response rates in patients with a high SUV ratio （≥ 1.90） were significantly better than those with a low SUV ratio （〈 1.90）（P = 0.020）. The overall survival rates of patients exhibiting a low Tsuvmax/Lsu- Vmean ratio （〈 1.90） and those with a high SUV ratio （≥1.90） was 38.2 and 10.3 mo, respectively （P 〈 0.01）. However, the time to progression showed no significant difference between the groups （P = 0.15）. CONCLUSION： 18F-FDG PET can be an important predictor of HCC treatment. In particular, the Tsuvmax/ Lsuwean ratio （cutoff value of 1.90） can provide useful information in treatment prognosis for HCC patients treated with Iocoregional therapy.

AIM:To introduce robotic cholecystectomy(RC) using new port sites on the low abdominal ***:From June 2010 to June 2011,a total of 178 RCs were performed at Ajou University Medical *** prospectively collected the set-up time(working time and docking time) and console time in all robotic ***:Eighty-three patients were male and 95 female;the age ranged from 18 to 72 years of age(mean 54.6 ± 15.0 years).All robotic procedures were successfully *** mean operation time was 52.4 ± 17.1 *** set-up time and console time were 11.9 ± 5.4 min(5-43 min) and 15.1 ± 8.0 min(4-50 min),*** conversion rate to laparoscopic or open procedures was *** complication rate was 0.6%(n = 1,bleeding).There was no bile duct injury or *** mean hospital stay was 1.4 ± 1.1 *** was a significant correlation between the console time and white blood cell count(r = 0.033,P = 0.015).In addition,the higher the white blood cell count(more than 10000),the longer the console ***:Robotic cholecystectomy using new port sites on the low abdominal area can be safely and efficiently performed,with sufficient patient satisfaction.

Intestinal enteroids/organoids: A novel platform for drug discovery in inflammatory bowel diseases

Deep Learning-Based Action Classification Using One-Shot Object Detection

Deep learning-based action classification technology has been applied to various fields,such as social safety,medical services,and *** an action on a practical level requires tracking multiple human bodies in an image in real-time and simultaneously classifying their *** are various related studies on the real-time classification of actions in an ***,existing deep learning-based action classification models have prolonged response speeds,so there is a limit to real-time *** addition,it has low accuracy of action of each object ifmultiple objects appear in the ***,it needs to be improved since it has a memory overhead in processing image *** learning-based action classification using one-shot object detection is proposed to overcome the limitations of multiframe-based analysis *** proposed method uses a one-shot object detection model and a multi-object tracking algorithm to detect and track multiple objects in the ***,a deep learning-based pattern classification model is used to classify the body action of the object in the image by reducing the data for each object to an action *** to the existing studies,the constructed model shows higher accuracy of 74.95%,and in terms of speed,it offered better performance than the current studies at 0.234 s per *** proposed model makes it possible to classify some actions only through action vector learning without additional image learning because of the vector learning feature of the posterior neural ***,it is expected to contribute significantly to commercializing realistic streaming data analysis technologies,such as CCTV.

Direct synthesis of highly conductive poly（3,4- ethylenedioxythiophene）：poly（4-styrenesulfonate）（PEDOT：PSS）/graphene composites and their applications in energy harvesting systems

We report for the first time highly conductive poly（3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene）： poly（4-styrenesulfonate）（PEDOT：PSS）/graphene composites fabricated by in situ polymerization and their applications in a thermoelectric device and a platinum （Pt）-free dye-sensitized solar cell （DSSC） as energy harvesting systems. Graphene was dispersed in a solution of poly（4-styrenesulfonate）（PSS） and polymerization was directly carried out by addition of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene （EDOT） monomer to the dispersion. The content of the graphene was varied and optimized to give the highest electrical conductivity. The composite solution was ready to use without any reduction process because reduced graphene oxide was used. The fabricated film had a conductivity of 637 ***-1, corresponding to an enhancement of 41%, after the introduction of 3 wt.% graphene without any further complicated reduction processes of graphene being required. The highly conductive composite films were employed in an organic thermoelectric device, and the device showed a power factor of 45.7 μW·m^-1K^-2 which is 93% higher than a device based on pristine PEDOT：PSS. In addition, the highly conductive composite films were used in Pt-free DSSCs, showing an energy conversion efficiency of 5.4%, which is 21% higher than that of a DSSC based on PEDOT：PSS.

Two-dimensional(2D)materials have gained considerable attention in chemical sensing owing to their naturally high surface-to-volume ***,the poor response time and incomplete recovery re-strict their application in practical,high performance gas *** this work,we fabricated air-stable ReS_(2)/GaSe heterostructure-based NO_(2)gas sensors with excellent gas sensing response,recovery,selectiv-ity and a low limit of detection(LOD)toward nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2)).The ReS_(2)/GaSe heterostructure was prepared via mechanical exfoliation and an all-dry transfer *** the sensing measurements,temperature-dependant transport measurements were carried *** Schottky Barrier Height(SBH)of the ReS_(2)/GaSe heterostructure was calculated and the corresponding transport mechanisms were *** fabricated gas sensors showed a significant response enhancement with full reversibility to-ward ppm-level NO_(2)(response of∼17%at 3 ppm,a LOD of∼556 ppb)at an operating temperature of(33°C).In particular,the total response and recovery time of the ReS_(2)/GaSe was revealed to be less than 4 min(∼38 s and∼174 s,respectively)for the 250 ppm concentration,which is one of the best response and recovery time toward ppm-level NO_(2).The excellent sensing performances and recovery characteris-tics of the ReS_(2)/GaSe structure are attributed to its efficient charge separation,unique interlayer coupling and desirable band *** atomically thin,ultrasensitive gas sensor that operates at room tem-perature is a strong technological contender to conventional metal oxide gas sensors,which often require elevated temperatures.

Oxidative coupling of methane over LaAlO3 perovskite catalysts prepared by a co-precipitation method: Effect of co-precipitation pH value

Oxidative coupling of methane(OCM) was conducted over LaAlO3X catalysts that were prepared by a coprecipitation method using different co-precipitation pH values(X = 6–10). The aim is to investigate the effect of p H values on the catalytic activity of La AlO3 catalysts in this reaction. The results showed that the co-precipitation pH value affected greatly on the formation of chemical species of precipitate precursors in the co-precipitation step, leading to different phases of the finally obtained LaAlO3 *** the co-precipitation pH value increased up to 8, the lanthanum-related phases such as La2 O3 and La(OH)3 were gradually formed as by-products, preventing the formation of LaAlO3 perovskite crystalline structure and facilitating the formation of oxygen vacancies on catalyst surface. However, at pH value of9 or higher, the lanthanum content in the precipitate precursor was increased greatly. Not LaAlO3 perovskite but lanthanum-related phases were developed as main phases, reducing their catalytic activities in this reaction. Among LaAlO3 catalysts, the one prepared at pH = 8 showed the highest C2 yield due to its well-developed oxygen vacancies and electrophilic lattice oxygen. Therefore, the co-precipitation pH value strongly affected the LaAlO3 catalyst activity in OCM reaction. A precious pH control should be required to prepare various perovskite catalysts for the OCM.

Irritable bowel syndrome:Emerging paradigm in pathophysiology

Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders,characterized by abdominal pain,bloating,and changes in bowel *** symptoms cannot be explained by structural abnormalities and there is no specific laboratory test or biomarker for ***,IBS is classified as a functional disorder with diagnosis dependent on the history taking about manifested symptoms and careful physical *** a great deal of research has been carried out in this area,the pathophysiology of IBS is complex and not completely *** factors are thought to contribute to the symptoms in IBS patients;altered gastrointestinal motility,visceral hypersensitivity,and the brain-gut interaction are important classical concepts in IBS *** areas of research in this arena include inflammation,postinfectious low-grade inflammation,genetic and immunologic factors,an altered microbiota,dietary factors,and enteroendocrine *** emerging studies have not shown consistent results,provoking controversy in the IBS ***,certain lines of evidence suggest that these mechanisms are important at least a subset of IBS patients,confirming that IBS symptoms cannot be explained by a single etiological ***,it is important to keep in mind that IBS requires a more holistic approach to determining effective treatment and understanding the underlying mechanisms.

Applying Machine Learning Techniques for Religious Extremism Detection on Online User Contents

In this research paper,we propose a corpus for the task of detecting religious extremism in social networks and open sources and compare various machine learning algorithms for the binary classification problem using a previously created corpus,thereby checking whether it is possible to detect extremist messages in the Kazakh *** do this,the authors trained models using six classic machine-learning algorithms such as Support Vector Machine,Decision Tree,Random Forest,K Nearest Neighbors,Naive Bayes,and Logistic *** increase the accuracy of detecting extremist texts,we used various characteristics such as Statistical Features,TF-IDF,POS,LIWC,and applied oversampling and undersampling techniques to handle imbalanced *** a result,we achieved 98%accuracy in detecting religious extremism in Kazakh texts for the collected *** the developed machine learningmodels in various databases that are often found in everyday life“Jokes”,“News”,“Toxic content”,“Spam”,“Advertising”has also shown high rates of extremism detection.

Sensitivity evaluation of the flash flood warning system introduced to ungauged small mountainous basins in Korea

This study evaluates the uncertainty involved in the determination of the flash flood guidance(FFG) of the flash flood warning system(FFWS) for a small mountainous region(FFWS_MR)in Korea. The sensitivity is evaluated both at each step to determine the FFG and for all steps together. The results show that the relative difference of the FFG is about 50% of the current system, most of which involves the channel width. Especially, the use of some specific empirical equations to estimate the major parameters results in a considerable amount of the relative difference of the FFG. In addition, though only four basins were field-surveyed, it is found that the indirect estimation of the major parameters always introduces some amount of additional uncertainty. In conclusion, accurate estimation of the major parameters must be the most important procedure to derive an accurate FFG, among which the channel cross-section at the exit of the basin lies at the center.
