Feasibility Study of Enforcing Immunization Certificate Check Before Primary School or Kindergarten Enrollment in Guizhou Province, China

Objective To study the feasibility of enforcing immunization certificate check before children enroll in primary schools or kindergartens in Guizhou Province. Methods Quantitative and qualitative studies were conducted. The multi-stage and cluster sampling approach was adopted for the quantitative part of the study. A questionnaire was designed and 996 children and their keepers were interviewed. Principals, doctors or teachers of the primary schools, directors and child care nurses of kindergarten, and staff of immunization agencies were invited to take part in 12 focus group discussions; meanwhile, face-to-face individual in-depth interviews with 16 officials of the Health, Education and Governmental Departments at various levels were conducted. Results The total number of subjects was 996. 16.7% of the children in the study completed all the procedures of the National Immunization Programme. 34.3% of them had immunization certificates while the remainder 44.7% registered in immunization agencies. Factors, including the migrant children, doubt about vaccine efficiency, mother’s occupation and educational background, knowledge of the National Immunization Programme on targeted vaccines, played an important role in obtaining or not immunization certificates. 95% of the keepers interviewed thought the immunization certificates were useful; 94.8% of them considered the check was critical while only 3.6% of them thought it unnecessary. The first reason from those who found it unnecessary was that they feared that repeated immunization might affect their children’s health. The second reason was the cost of immunization, which some of them could not afford to pay. However, the Health Department expressed a favorable attitude to the checking scheme. Two-terminal(2-T)perovskite(PVK)/CuIn(Ga)Se_(2)(CIGS)tandem solar cells(TSCs)have been considered as an ideal tandem cell because of their best bandgap matching regarding to Shockley–Queisser(S–Q)***,the nature of the irregular rough morphology of commercial CIGS prevents people from improving tandem device *** this paper,D-homoserine lactone hydrochloride is proven to improve coverage of PVK materials on irregular rough CIGS surfaces and also passivate bulk defects by modulating the growth of PVK *** addition,the minority carriers near the PVK/C60 interface and the incompletely passivated trap states caused interface recombination.A surface reconstruction with 2-thiopheneethylammonium iodide and N,N-dimethylformamide assisted passivates the defect sites located at the surface and grain ***,LiF is used to create this field effect,repelling hole carriers away from the PVK and C60 interface and thus reducing *** a result,a 2-T PVK/CIGS tandem yielded a power conversion efficiency of 24.6%(0.16 cm^(2)),one of the highest results for 2-T PVK/CIGS TSCs to our *** validation underscores the potential of our methodology in achieving superior performance in PVK/CIGS tandem solar cells.

Pronounced impact of size and shape effects on creep rupture life of a K439B superalloy combustion chamber casting simulator

The size and shape effect(SSE) of components has become a critical issue for mechanical properties, application reliability, and processing. In this study, the creep rupture life(CRL) of components with different wall thicknesses and positions in a combustion chamber casing simulator made of K439B superalloy was investigated. The intrinsic mechanisms of the SSE were explored from the dendrite structure, volume fraction and size of the γ' phase, and element segregation, etc. It is shown that this casting exhibits a strong SSE of creep rupture life, characterized by a significant difference in the CRL values up to 60% with the variation of wall thickness and position in the casing. In terms of casting technology, the influence of SSE on CRL is actually determined by the cooling rate. The SSE on the creep rupture life originates from the dendrite structure(such as the secondary dendrite arm spacing), volume fraction size of the γ' phase in the dendrite trunk, and elements segregation rate. This work may have implications for the design and application of engineering components with large sizes and complex structures.

Identifiability and sloppiness of structured systems with a matrix fraction description using finite frequency responses

This paper investigates the identifiability of structured systems with a matrix fraction description and attacks practical difficulties in estimating parameters under finite frequency responses. The numerator and denominator polynomial matrices depend affinely on system parameters, which can represent a broad range of systems, especially circuits and mechanical systems. Except for assuming that the denominator matrix is invertible, no further assumptions are adopted. A criterion is provided for validating this assumption utilizing graph theories and matroids. A sufficient and necessary criterion for global identifiability based on the rank of a numerical matrix is given and can be recursively verified with each frequency point,which is computationally attractive for large-scale systems. For an identifiable system, an ellipsoid approximation is obtained for the set of parameters whose corresponding system frequency responses deviate within a specific range from those of the system at a specific parameter value. Using this approximation, explicit expressions for absolute and relative sloppiness have been derived, which can be used to quantify the difficulty of identifying system parameters. Comparisons with the well-known Fisher information matrix have also been performed through a mechanical system, revealing significant differences in quantifying parameter estimation hardness.

Although poly(lactic acid)(PLA)is a good environmentally-friendly bio-degradable polymer which is used to substitute traditional petrochemical-based polymer packaging films,the barrier properties of PLA films are still insufficient for high-barrier packaging *** this study,oxygen scavenger hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)and cobalt salt catalyst were incorporated into the PLA/poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PLA/PBAT),followed by melting extrusion and three-layer co-extrusion blown film process to prepare the composite *** oxygen permeability coefficient of the composite film combined with 6 wt%oxygen scavenger and 0.4 wt%catalyst was decreased significantly from 377.00 cc·mil·m^(-2)·day^(-1)·0.1 MPa^(-1) to 0.98 cc·mil·m^(-2)·day^(-1)·0.1 MPa^(-1),showing a remarkable enhancement of 384.69 times compared with the PLA/PBAT composite ***,the degradation behavior of the composite film was also accelerated,exhibiting a mass loss of nearly 60%of the original mass after seven days of degradation in an alkaline environment,whereas PLA/PBAT composite film only showed a mass loss of 32%.This work has successfully prepared PLA/PBAT composite films with simultaneously improved oxygen barrier property and degradation behavior,which has great potential for high-demanding green chemistry packaging industries,including food,agricultural,and military packaging.

Study on the hydrogen absorption properties of a YGdTbDyHo rare-earth high-entropy alloy

This study investigated the microstructure and hydrogen absorption properties of a rare-earth high-entropy alloy(HEA),*** indicated that the YGdTbDyHo alloy had a microstructure of equiaxed grains,with the alloy elements distributed *** hydrogen absorption,the phase structure of the HEA changed from a solid solution with an hexagonal-close-packed(HCP)structure to a high-entropy hydride with an faced-centered-cubic(FCC)structure without any secondary phase *** alloy demonstrated a maximum hydrogen storage capacity of 2.33 H/M(hydrogen atom/metal atom)at 723 K,with an enthalpy change(ΔH)of-141.09 kJ·mol^(-1)and an entropy change(ΔS)of-119.14 J·mol^(-1)·K^(-1).The kinetic mechanism of hydrogen absorption was hydride nucleation and growth,with an apparent activation energy(E_(a))of 20.90 kJ·mol^(-1).Without any activation,the YGdTbDyHo alloy could absorb hydrogen quickly(180 s at 923 K)with nearly no incubation period *** reason for the obtained value of 2.33 H/M was that the hydrogen atoms occupied both tetrahedral and octahedral *** results demonstrate the potential application of HEAs as a high-capacity hydrogen storage material with a large H/M ratio,which can be used in the deuterium storage field.
