Synergetic effect of BiOCl/Bi12O17Cl2 and MoS2: in situ DRIFTS investigation on photocatalytic NO oxidation pathway

The BiOCl/Bi12O17Cl2@MoS2(BOC-MS)composites were successfully synthesized by a facile method at room *** physicochemical properties of the as-obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffractometer(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflection spectra(UV–Vis DRS),photoluminescence(PL),Brunauer–Emmett–Teller–Barrett–Joyner–Halenda(BET–BJH),and electron spin resonance(ESR)in ***,the in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS)was applied to elucidate the adsorption and photocatalytic reaction *** optimized BOC-MS-1.0 composites exhibited excellent visible light photocatalytic capability(51.1%)and photochemical stability for removal of *** on the DMPOESR spin trapping,the·O2-radicals andáOH radicals were identified as the main active species generated from BOCMS-1.0 under visible light *** enhanced photocatalytic performance can be ascribed to the positive synergetic effect of the MoS2 and the effective carrier separation ability.

The development of thermal stress in the exhaust manifold of a gasoline engine is *** problem is addresses in the frame of a combined approach wherefluid and structure are coupled using the GT-POWER and STAR-CCM+***,the external characteristic curve of the engine is compared with a one-dimen-sional simulation model,then the parameters of the model are modified until the curve matches the available experimental ***-POWER is then used to transfer the inlet boundary data under transient conditions to STAR-CCM+in *** temperature profiles of the inner and outer walls of the exhaust manifold are obtained in this way,together with the thermal stress and thermal deformation of the exhaust manifold *** this information,the original model is improved through the addition of ***,the local branch pipes are optimized,leading to significant improvements in terms of thermal stress and thermal deforma-tion of the exhaust manifold(a 7%reduction in the maximum thermal stress).

Paleoenvironmental changes during the late Quaternary as inferred from foraminifera assemblages in the Laizhou Bay

Controlled by climate changes, there were three large-scale transgressions and regressions around the Bohai Sea during the late Quaternary, which were accepted by most geologists. However, a big controversy still exists about the time when the transgressions occurred separately. In order to find out the process of the paleoenvironmental changes around the Bohai Sea in the late Quaternary, the foraminifera assemblages from a new borehole Lz908 in the southern coast of the Laizhou Bay were studied, and then the transgressive strata were indentified. Combined with accelerator mass spectrometry radiocarbon 14C（AMS14C） and optically stimulated luminescence（OSL） ages, the occurrence time of these transgressions were re-determined. The result showed that three major large-scale transgressions occurred separately at the beginning of marine isotopic stage 7（MIS7）, the last interglacial period（MIS5） and the Holocene. In addition, a small-scale transgression occurred in the mid-MIS6, and the corresponding transgressive stratum was deposited. The transgressive deposition of MIS3 was also discovered in this study. However, the characteristics of the foraminifera indicated the environment during this period was colder than that in the MIS5. By comparison with the global sea-level changes, the paleoenvironmental changes around the Bohai Sea in the late Quaternary can be consistent with the global climate changes.

Baculovirus-mediated expression of a Chinese scorpion neurotoxin improves insecticidal efficacy

An Buthus martensii Karsch Insect Toxin (BmK IT ) gene was inserted into the genome of Autographa californica multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) to construct a recombinant baculovirus, AcMNPV-BmK IT. The expression of BmK IT was confirmed using RT-PCR, dot blot and SDS-PAGE analysis. Dose-lethal time responses to Spodoptera exigua larvae were compared between wild-type baculovirus AcMNPV and recombinant virus AcMNPV-BmK IT. At the concentration of 1×107 PIBs/mL, the median lethal time of recombinant baculovirus (LT50 = 73.6h) on third instar S. exigua larvae showed an improvement of 13.2% over the efficacy of wild type virus (LT50 = 84.8h) during a 192h in-fection.

Apportioning above-and below-ground effects of moss biocrusts on soil detachment by overland flow in a subtropical climate

Biocrusts affect soil detachment through above-ground(top crust’s surface covering)and below-ground(sub-crust’s binding and bonding,B&B)effects,which might vary with biocrust development or ***,these effects in humid climates are still *** study was conducted to apportion and quantify the surface covering and B&B effects of moss biocrusts with five coverage levels(1%–20%,20%–40%,40%–60%,60%–80%,and 80%–100%)on soil detachment by overland flow in a subtropical humid *** treatments with one being intact moss crusts and one removing the aboveground moss tissues were designed for each coverage level,and bare soil was used as the *** results indicated that soil detachment capacity(Dc)and rill erodibility(Kr)decreased with biocrust *** removing the above-ground moss tissues,the impeding effect of biocrusts on soil detachment weakened,but still increasing soil erosion resistance relative to bare *** intact crust,Dc was reduced by 50%–95%compared with bare soil,wherein 36%–55%and 14%–40%were attributed to the surface covering and B&B,*** top crust contributed more than sub-crust to the soil detachment reduction,which were related to but not linear with biocrust *** biocrust coverage reached mid-to-higher level(40%–100%),both top crust and sub-crust steadily contributed to soil detachment reduction with 60%and 40%,*** findings advance a better understanding of the influencing mechanism of biocrusts on soil erosion in humid climates and highlight the importance of saving biocrusts as ecosystem functions.

A multi-sequential number-theoretic optimization algorithm using clustering methods

A multi-sequential number-theoretic optimization method based on clustering was developed and applied to the optimization of functions with many local extrema. Details of the procedure to generate the clusters and the sequential schedules were given. The algorithm was assessed by comparing its performance with generalized simulated annealing algorithm in a difficult instructive example and a D-optimum experimental design problem. It is shown the presented algorithm to be more effective and reliable based on the two examples.

Exploratory Precipitation in North-Central China during the Past Four Centuries

Two robust precipitation reconstructions were conducted by combining tree-ring chronologies, dryness/wetness indices from historical documents, and climate data from the global grid. It was found that the recurrent drought history of a region can help us understand the variability of precipitation. Several dry/wet periods during the past four centuries and potential cycles of precipitation variation were determined. Furthermore, the reconstructions are not only consistent well with each other in North-central China, but also in good agreement with variations of precipitation in northeastern Mongolia, the Longxi area in Gangsu Province and the Dulan area of Qinghai Province, and the snow accumulation of the Guliya glacier. These synchronous variations indicate that it is valuable to study various climate records, find common information and determine the driving force of climate change.

BACKGROUND Giant paraesophageal hiatal hernias (HH) are very infrequent,and their spectrum of clinical manifestations is *** HH mainly occurs in elderly patients,and its relationship with anemia has been *** the surgical treatment of large HH,Nissen fundoplication is the most common antireflux procedure,and the reinforcement of HH repair with a patch (either synthetic or biologic) is still *** SUMMARY We report on a case of giant paraesophageal HH in a middle-aged male patient with reflux symptoms and severe *** performing a series of tests and diagnostic approaches,results showed a complete intrathoradc stomach associated with severe iron deficiency *** patient underwent successful laparoscopic hernia repair with mesh reinforcement and Nissen ***,reflux symptoms were markedly relieved,and the imaging study showed complete reduction of the hernia *** importantly,anemia was resolved,and hemoglobin,serum iron and ferritin level were returned to the normal *** patient kept regular follow-up appointments and remained in a satisfactory *** This case report highlights the relationship between large HH and iron deficiency *** the surgical treatment of large HH,laparoscopic repair of large HH combined with antireflux procedure and mesh reinforcement is recommended.
