A review on application of dielectric barrier discharge plasma technology on the abatement of volatile organic compounds

Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)released from the waste treatment facilities have become a significant issue because they are not only causing odor nuisance but may also hazard to human ***-thermal plasma(NTP)technologies are newly developed methods and became a research trend in recent years regarding the removal of VOCs from the air *** to its unique characteristics,such as rapid response at room temperature,bulk homogenized volume,high reaction efficiency,dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)plasma technology is considered one of the most promising techniques of *** paper reviews recent progress of DBD plasma technology for abatement of *** principle of plasma generation in DBD and its configurations(electrode,discharge gap,dielectric barrier material,etc.)are discussed in *** on previously published literature,attention has been paid on the effect of DBD configuration on the removal of *** of various process parameters such as initial concentration,gas feeding rate,oxygen content and input power on VOCs removal are also ***,the role of catalysis and inhibitors in VOCs removal by DBD system are ***,a modified configuration of the DBD reactor,*** dielectric barrier discharge(DDBD)for the abatement of VOCs is *** was suggested that the DDBD plasma reactor could be used for higher conversion efficiency as well as for avoiding solid residue deposition on the *** depositions can interfere with the performance of the reactor.

Energy harvesting from ambient sources present in the environment is essential to replace traditional energy *** strategies can diversify the energy sources,reduce maintenance,lower costs,and provide near-perpetual operation of the *** this work,a triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG)based on silane-coupled Linde type A/polydimethylsiloxane(LTA/PDMS)is developed for harsh environmental *** silane-coupled LTA/PDMS-based TENG can produce a high output power density of 42.6μW/cm^(2) at a load resistance of 10 MQ and operates at an open-circuit voltage of 120 V and a short-circuit current of 15μA under a damping frequency of 14 ***,the device shows ultra-robust and stable cyclic repeatability for more than 30 k *** fabricated TENG is used for the physiological monitoring and charging of commercial capacitors to drive low-power electronic ***,these results suggest that the silane-coupled LTA/PDMS approach can be used to fabricate ultra-robust TENGs for harsh environmental conditions and also provides an effective path toward wearable self-powered microelectronic deVices.

Towards engineering in memristors for emerging memory and neuromorphic computing: A review

Resistive random-access memory(RRAM),also known as memristors,having a very simple device structure with two terminals,fulfill almost all of the fundamental requirements of volatile memory,nonvolatile memory,and neuromorphic *** memory and neuromorphic behaviors are currently being explored in relation to a range of materials,such as biological materials,perovskites,2D materials,and transition metal *** this review,we discuss the different electrical behaviors exhibited by RRAM devices based on these materials by briefly explaining their corresponding switching *** then discuss emergent memory technologies using memristors,together with its potential neuromorphic applications,by elucidating the different material engineering techniques used during device fabrication to improve the memory and neuromorphic performance of devices,in areas such as ION/IOFF ratio,endurance,spike time-dependent plasticity(STDP),and paired-pulse facilitation(PPF),among *** emulation of essential biological synaptic functions realized in various switching materials,including inorganic metal oxides and new organic materials,as well as diverse device structures such as single-layer and multilayer hetero-structured devices,and crossbar arrays,is analyzed in ***,we discuss current challenges and future prospects for the development of inorganic and new materials-based memristors.

针对固体废物堆肥设施氨气污染问题,本文首次运用双介质阻挡放电低温等离子体(DDBD)技术去除模拟堆肥气体中的氨气。考察了输入功率、氨气流速、氨气初始浓度、反应器放电间隙、氧气含量等参数对氨气去除率和低温等离子体系统能量效率的影响,并分析了副产物的生成情况及其影响因子。研究结果表明,氨气去除率与输入功率和氧气含量呈正相关,与氨气流速和氨气初始浓度呈负相关。低温等离子体系统的能量效率与氨气流速、氨气初始浓度、氧气含量均正相关,但随输入功率的增加先升高后降低。研究发现,在所设定的反应条件下,4mm放电间隙反应器的能耗最低,能量效率最高。O3和NOx是DDBD去除氨气的反应副产物,其浓度均与氧气含量呈正相关,均呈现随输入功率的增加先升高后降低的趋势。

Integer quantum Hall effect in Kekulé-patterned graphene

Y-shaped Kekulébond textures in a honeycomb lattice on a graphene-copper superlattice have recently been experimentally *** this paper,the effects of such a bond modulation on the transport coefficients of Kekulé-patterned graphene are investigated in the presence of a perpendicular magnetic *** expressions are derived for the Hall and longitudinal conductivities using the Kubo *** is found that the Y-shaped Kekulébond texture lifts the valley degeneracy of all Landau levels except that of the zero mode,leading to additional plateaus in the Hall conductivity accompanied by a split of the corresponding peaks in the longitudinal ***,the Hall conductivity is quantized as±ne^(2)/h for n=2,4,6,8,10,...,excluding some plateaus that disappear due to the complete overlap of the Landau levels of different *** results also suggest that DC Hall conductivity measurements will allow us to determine the Kekulébond texture amplitude.

Sex-Dependent Glial Signaling in Pathological Pain:Distinct Roles of Spinal Microglia and Astrocytes

Increasing evidence suggests that spinal micro- glia regulate pathological pain in males. In this study, we investigated the effects of several microglial and astroglial modulators on inflammatory and neuropathic pain follow- ing intrathecal injection in male and female mice. These modulators were the microglial inhibitors minocycline and ZVEID （a caspase-6 inhibitor） and the astroglial inhibitors L-α-aminoadipate （L-AA, an astroglial toxin） and car- benoxolone （a connexin 43 inhibitor）, as well as U0126 （an ERK kinase inhibitor） and D-JNKI-1 （a c-Jun N-terminal kinase inhibitor）. We found that spinal administration of minocycline or ZVEID, or Caspase6 deletion, reduced formalin-induced inflammatory and nerve injury-induced neuropathic pain primarily in male mice. In contrast, intrathecal L-AA reduced neuropathic pain but not inflam- matory pain in both sexes. Intrathecal U0126 and D-JNKI- 1 reduced neuropathic pain in both sexes. Nerve injury caused spinal upregulation of the astroglial markers GFAP and Connexin 43 in both sexes. Collectively, our data confirmed male-dominant microglial signaling but also revealed sex-independent astroglial signaling in the spinal cord in inflammatory and neuropathic pain.

A black shale sample collected from the Chimiari site(Tarbela) was analyzed for elemental *** coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES) was employed to determine major and trace elements in the *** analysis was accomplished for the black shales,which was better than 2.0%.Result shows that the shales are very rich in Ca(25439 μg·g-1),Fe(13933 μg·g-1),Ti(6932 μg·g-1),Al(5993 μg·g-1) and K(2730 μg·g-1).

Artificial neural network simulation for prediction of suspended sediment concentration in the River Ramganga,Ganges Basin,India

The relation between the water discharge(Q) and suspended sediment concentration(SSC)of the River Ramganga at Bareilly,Uttar Pradesh,in the Himalayas,has been modeled using Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs).The current study validates the practical capability and usefulness of this tool for simulating complex nonlinear,real world,river system processes in the Himalayan *** modeling approach is based on the time series data collected from January to December(2008-2010)for Q and *** ANNs(T1-T3)with different network configurations have been developed and trained using the Levenberg Marquardt Back Propagation Algorithm in the Matlab *** were optimized using the enumeration technique,and,finally,the best network is used to predict the SSC values for the year *** values thus obtained through the ANN model are compared with the observed values of *** coefficient of determination(R2),for the optimal network was found to be *** study not only provides insight into ANN modeling in the Himalayan river scenario,but it also focuses on the importance of understanding a river basin and the factors that affect the SSC,before attempting to model *** the temporal variations in the study area,it is possible to model and successfully predict the SSC values with very simplistic ANN models.

Petrophysical relationship for density prediction using Vp & Vs in Meyal oilfield, Potwar sub-basin, Pakistan

Conventional petrophysical investigations are based on P-wave seismic velocity analysis to predict density information, while ignoring the important S-wave velocity. This study is based on S-wave velocity analysis of density estimation of Meyal Oil Field(Potwar Plateau, Pakistan), which reveals a very high correlation(R=0.87) between predicted and actual density. Since the availability of S-wave velocity(Vs) data increases, it’s highly appreciable to take into account the contribution of Vs in improvement of density estimates. This investigation only focuses on driving new constants(a = 1.92 and b = 0.186) for Gardner’s relationship to estimate density of pure carbonates(Vsh< 10%) in the study area, where the traditional model gave poorer density predictions. The proposed empirical expression with locally extracted unknowns from well log data proved its ability in terms of density prediction(showing very close agreement with measured densities) and best fitting the datasets at low as well as high density values when compared with Gardner’s equation. Based on our analysis, the exploratory study neither intends to replace the well established density estimation models nor to extend information over what information can possibly be extractable from Vp. However, our research does stimulate the growing use of Vs and importance of local unknown constants especially in carbonates reservoir interval to avoid misuse of most widely used Gardner relation in all geological settings.

Monitoring of Pesticide Residues in Commonly Used Fruits in Hyderabad Region, Pakistan

A market based survey was carried out to evaluate the level of 26 pesticides in some commonly used fruits in Hyderabad region, Pakistan. Gas chromatography coupled with micro electron capture detector was used to assess the levels of pesticide residues. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was also applied for the confirmation of results. Out of total 131 analyzed samples, 53 (40%) were found contaminated with pesticide residues while only 3 (2%) samples were exceeded the MRLs of some pesticides. Chlorpyrifos and dieldrin were detected in almost all analyzed samples. Residues of chlorpyrifos (1256 μg/kg) and endosulfan sulfate (1236 μg/kg) were found higher in orange and apple samples, respectively. The findings of this study provided important data about contamination of pesticide residue in some fruits sold in Hyderabad, Pakistan, and recommended that monitoring studies should be expanded to other fruits grown in different agro climatic regions, which may serve as basis for future policy about the standards and quality control of pesticides.
