Catalytic asymmetric dearomatization(CADA)of phenols has emerged as a powerful strategy for constructing stereochemically complicated architectures from planar aromatic ***,the development of novel catalysts for highly enantioselective phenolic oxidative dearomatization continues to be a time-and resource-intensive endeavor,attributable mainly to the paucity of a reliable predictive catalyst design *** this study,we systematically compiled a dataset of 847 literaturereported asymmetric phenolic dearomatization by hypervalent iodine(III)catalysts(HVI-CADA dataset),a unique type of catalyst that is gaining increasing attention owing to their ecofriendly *** this reaction dataset,we established a machine learning predictive model to predict *** XGBoost algorithm exhibited the optimal performance,with a root-mean-square error of 0.26(kcal/mol)and an R^(2)of *** established model can effectively guide the selection of the optimal catalyst and additives in out-of-sample *** independent experiments were conducted to validate the results obtained from the model *** anticipate that our current work will facilitate further design,optimization,and development of novel chiral hypervalent iodine catalysts for new asymmetric phenolic dearomatization reactions.

Reconfigurable paper-based metamaterial antenna: Structural transition from 2D to 3D

Paper-based electronics offer a simple and cost-effective means to fabricate reconfigurable devices. In response to the problem of fixed shape and single function of most antennas, which limits their applications, a reconfigurable paper-based metamaterial antenna with 2D and 3D forms is presented for tunable operating frequency. The proposed antenna consists of two square split resonant rings fed by a coplanar waveguide. The working frequency of the 2D antenna is adjusted by the length, width, and opening size of the internal open resonant ring. While the folding angle of the antenna turns from 0° to 90°, the operating frequency of the paper-based metamaterial antenna changes from 2.759 to 4.223 GHz. In terms of 3D form, an additional resonant peak is generated by bending the paper-based metamaterial antenna, thus further realizing dual-band antenna *** a simple process flow, a series of proposed antennas are fabricated and evaluated. The simulated and measured results both demonstrate that the proposed antenna has a good performance in turning the working band. The environment-friendly nature and pliability of paper, as well as simple fabrication procedures, make paper-based metamaterial promising candidates for future green electronics.

A hybrid CNN-LSTM model for diagnosing rice nutrient levels at the rice panicle initiation stage

Nitrogen(N)and potassium(K)are two key mineral nutrient elements involved in rice *** diagnosis of N and K status is very important for the rational application of fertilizers at a specific rice growth ***,we propose a hybrid model for diagnosing rice nutrient levels at the early panicle initiation stage(EPIS),which combines a convolutional neural network(CNN)with an attention mechanism and a long short-term memory network(LSTM).The model was validated on a large set of sequential images collected by an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)from rice canopies at different growth stages during a two-year *** with VGG16,AlexNet,GoogleNet,DenseNet,and inceptionV3,ResNet101 combined with LSTM obtained the highest average accuracy of 83.81%on the dataset of Huanghuazhan(HHZ,an indica cultivar).When tested on the datasets of HHZ and Xiushui 134(XS134,a japonica rice variety)in 2021,the ResNet101-LSTM model enhanced with the squeeze-and-excitation(SE)block achieved the highest accuracies of 85.38 and 88.38%,*** the cross-dataset method,the average accuracies on the HHZ and XS134 datasets tested in 2022 were 81.25 and 82.50%,respectively,showing a good *** proposed model works with the dynamic information of different rice growth stages and can efficiently diagnose different rice nutrient status levels at EPIS,which are helpful for making practical decisions regarding rational fertilization treatments at the panicle initiation stage.

Flexible strain sensors are promising in sensing minuscule mechanical signals,and thereby widely used in various advanced ***,the effective integration of hypersensitivity and highly selective response into one flexible strain sensor remains a huge ***,inspired by the hysteresis strategy of the scorpion slit receptor,a bio-inspired flexible strain sensor(BFSS)with parallel through-slit arrays is designed and ***,BFSS consists of conductive monolayer graphene and viscoelastic styrene–isoprene–styrene block *** the synergistic effect of the bio-inspired slit structures and flexible viscoelastic materials,BFSS can achieve both hypersensitivity and highly selective frequency ***,the BFSS exhibits a high gage factor of 657.36,and a precise identification of vibration frequencies at a resolution of 0.2 Hz through undergoing different morphological changes to high-frequency vibration and low-frequency ***,the BFSS possesses a wide frequency detection range(103 Hz)and stable durability(1000 cycles).It can sense and recognize vibration signals with different characteristics,including the frequency,amplitude,and *** work,which turns the hysteresis effect into a"treasure,"can provide new design ideas for sensors for potential applications including human–computer interaction and health monitoring of mechanical equipment.

L-glutamic acid(LA)is a bio-based,non-toxic,environmentally friendly material derived from *** present study reports the application of Passerini three-component polymerization(P-3CP)for the straightforward preparation of LA-based light-responsive polyesters(PLTDs)under mild *** with molar masses up to 8500 g/mol and high yields exceeding 90%are *** chemical structures and light-responsive self-immolative behavior of PLTDs are comprehensively characterized by employing ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)spectroscopy,size exclusion chromatography(SEC),nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy,and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry(LC-MS).Meanwhile,monodisperse PLTD-based doxorubicin-loaded nanoparticles(PLTD-DOX-NP)(size=193 nm,PDI=0.018)are formulated by nanoprecipitation *** light-induced depolymerization,the PLTD-DOX-NP undergoes rapid decomposition,resulting in a burst release of 80%cargo within 13 ***,according to biological toxicity tests,the PLTD-NP possesses adequate biosafety,both before and after ***,the incorporation of P-3CP with biorenewable LA-based monomer adheres to the principles of green chemistry,significantly simplifying the synthetic pathway of light-responsive polymers.

Ochratoxin A (OTA)， a secondary fungal metabolite known for its nephrotoxic effects， is widespread in various foods and animal feeds. Our recent investigation suggests a correlation between OTA-induced nephrotoxicity and Sigma-1 receptor (Sig-1R)-mediated mitochondrial apoptosis in human proximal tubule epithelial-originated kidney-2 (HK-2) cells. However， the involvement of Sig-1R in OTA-induced nephrotoxicity， encompassing other forms of regulated cell death like ferroptosis， remains unexplored. In this research， cell viability， apoptotic rate， cholesterol levels， mitochondrial glutathione (mGSH) levels， reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels， and protein expressions in HK-2 cells treated with OTA and/or blarcamesine hydrochloride (Anavex 2-73) were evaluated. The results suggest that OTA induces mitochondrial apoptosis and ferroptosis by inhibiting Sig-1R， subsequently promoting sterol regulatory element-binding protein 2 (SREBP2)， 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR)， GRAM domain-containing protein 1B (GRAMD1B)， steroidogenic acute regulatory protein， mitochondrial (StARD1)， 78 kDa glucose-regulated protein (GRP78)， CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein (C/EBP) homologous protein (CHOP)， cyclophilin D (CypD)， Cleaved-Caspase-3， B-cell lymphoma-2-associated X protein (BAX)， and long-chain fatty acid-CoA ligase 4 (ACSL4)， inhibiting tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated protein 1 (TRAP1)， mitochondrial 2-oxoglutarate/malate carrier protein (SLC25A11)， B-cell lymphoma-2-like protein 1 (BCL-XL)， and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4)， reducing mGSH levels， and increasing total cholesterol， mitochondrial cholesterol， and ROS levels. In conclusion， OTA induces mitochondrial apoptosis and ferroptosis by inhibiting Sig-1R， thereby disrupting redox and cholesterol homeostasis in vitro. The regulation of cholesterol homeostasis by Sig-1R and its involvement in OTA-induced mitochondrial apoptosis and ferroptosis are reported here for the first time.

When zero-valent iron(ZVI)is prepared and applied under neutral conditions,it is easy to form oxides or hydroxides on its surface,which hinders the electron release of *** this end,a nucleophile was introduced into the ZVI system to inhibit the precipitation of iron ions,improve the conductivity of the solution,and promote the removal efficiency of electrophilic functional groups in organic *** this study,the addition of nucleophiles such as ethylenediamine,methylamine and dimethylamine to the ZVI/H_(2)O_(2)system resulted in an enhanced removal efficiency of tetracycline(TC)under neutral condition,while electrophiles such as EDTA-2Na and oxalic acid dihydrate impeded the removal of *** results demonstrated that the presence of nucleophiles could effectively promote the release of iron ions and increase the proportion of ferrous in both aqueous solution and solid surface of *** and theoretical calculation results revealed that the electrophilic functional group was eliminated in the TC molecule,and the toxicity of the treated solution was reduced ***,this work provides a selection of the conditions and pollutants applicable to ZVI under neutral pH conditions.

The coherent muon-to-electron transition(COMET)experiment is a leading experiment for the coherent conversion of μ^(-)N→e^(-)N using a high-intensity pulsed muon beamline,produced using innovative slow-extraction ***,it is critical to measure the muon beam *** set up a muon beam monitor(MBM),where scintillating fibers woven in a cross shape were coupled to silicon photomultipliers to measure the spatial profile and timing structure of the extracted muon beam for the *** MBM detector was tested successfully with a proton beamline at the China Spallation Neutron Source and took data with good performance in the commissioning *** development of the MBM,including its mechanical structure,electronic readout,and beam measurement results,are discussed.

Despite experiencing a decadal shift towards drought conditions at the end of the 2Oth century,semiarid grasslands in northeast Asia(NEA)exhibited an evident greening trend from 1982 to ***,the mechanism behind this phenomenon remains ***,we analysed the interdecadal changes in vegetation response to drought on the basis of the standardised precipitation evapotranspiration index(Spei)and Global Inventory Modelling and Mapping Studies LAI4g datasets,with an emphasis on the differences between direct and legacy effects(as measured by resilience),to explore the mechanism of persistent grassland *** revealed that during the post-drought shift period(2000-2020),the sudden decrease in the water content of the intermediate soil layer triggered an intensified vegetation response to ***,although direct effects and resilience were amplified,they exhibited asymmetric *** was stronger than direct effects,and this difference increased with increasing drought(drought recovery)*** combined effects may account for persistent greening against intensified drying in the semiarid grasslands in *** the projected exacerbation of future droughts,this study holds notable importance for comprehending the long-term change dynamics of dryland ecosystems.
