In this retrospective study, we evaluated and compared the efficacy and toxicities of maximal androgen blockade （MAB） versus castration alone in Chinese patients with advanced prostate cancer. From 1996 to 2004, 608 patients with advanced prostate cancer were included in the study. Patients were retrospectively divided into two groups according to different therapeutic regimens. Of the 608 patients, 300 patients were treated with MAB （castration plus nonsteroidal antiandrogens） and the remaining 308 were treated with castration alone. The 2- and 5-year overall survival rates of these patients were 73.7% and 56%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that, in patients with metastatic prostate cancer, MAB was associated with not only the improvement of progression-free survival （PFS）（increased by 10 months） but also a 20.6% reduction in mortality risk compared with castration alone. In contrast, the efficacy of MAB was not superior to castration alone for patients with nonmetastatic prostate cancer. Interestingly, among patients with MAB, those using bicalutamide had a longer PFS than those using flutamide; this was especially so in patients with metastatic prostate cancer. Almost all of the toxicities due to the hormone therapy were mild to moderate and manageable. To conclude, in China, hormone therapies, including MAB and castration alone, have been standard treatments for advanced prostate cancer. For patients with nonmetastatic prostate cancer, castration alone might be adequately practical and efficient. In patients with metastatic prostate cancer, however, MAB has superior efficacy over castration alone. It is clear that MAB should be considered the first-line standard treatment for patients with metastatic prostate cancer.

Metformin(MET), an antidiabetic agent, also has antioxidative effects in metabolic-related *** study was designed to determine whether MET has anti-hypertensive effects in salt-sensitive hypertensive rats by inhibiting oxidative stress in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus(PVN). Salt-sensitive rats received a highsalt(HS) diet to induce hypertension, or a normal-salt(NS)diet as control. At the same time, they received intracerebroventricular(ICV) infusion of MET or vehicle for 6 weeks. We found that HS rats had higher oxidative stress levels and mean arterial pressure(MAP) than NS rats. ICV infusion of MET attenuated MAP and reduced plasma norepinephrine levels in HS rats. It also decreased reactive oxygen species and the expression of subunits of NAD(P)H oxidase, improved the superoxide dismutase activity,reduced components of the renin-angiotensin system, and altered neurotransmitters in the PVN. Our findings suggest that central MET administration lowers MAP in saltsensitive hypertension via attenuating oxidative stress,inhibiting the renin-angiotensin system, and restoring the balance between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters in the PVN.

目的分析2015—2020年四川省恶性肿瘤发病趋势，为制定肿瘤防控规划和措施提供数据参考。方法基于四川省2015—2020年全省居民住院病历病案首页肿瘤相关的个案信息数据，计算发病率，使用Joinpoint 4.***.0.1计算平均年度变化百分比。结果 2015—2020年间，四川省恶性肿瘤新发病例数从181 490例增加到276 770例，发病率从198.57/10～5上升到304.76/10～5,平均年度变化百分比(AAPC)分别为总体7.514%、男性6.751%、女性8.611%、城市4.713%、农村6.838%;成都平原经济区和川西北生态经济区恶性肿瘤发病上升趋势明显，AAPC值分别为7.549%、9.668%。2015—2020年四川省肺癌、结直肠癌、乳腺癌、宫颈癌和前列腺癌发病率均呈明显的上升变化趋势，AAPC值分别为11.220%(95%CI:5.866～16.845)、6.606%(95%CI:1.395～13.202)、6.322%(95%CI:1.411～11.472)、5.765%(95%CI:1.431～10.284)、13.222%(95%CI:7.396～19.364),差异均有统计学意义。结论四川省恶性肿瘤发病率随时间呈上升变化趋势，防控形势严峻。不同恶性肿瘤发病率变化趋势存在差异，肺癌、消化系统肿瘤、乳腺癌、宫颈癌和前列腺癌是四川省发病居前位的癌种，应增强特异性预防控制与筛查。

High-nickel single-crystal layered oxide material has become the most promising cathode material for electric vehicle power battery due to its high energy ***,this material still suffers from structural degradation during cycling and especially the severe interfacial reactions at elevated temperatures that exacerbate irreversible capacity ***,a simple strategy was used to construct a dualfunction li_(1.5)Al_(0.5)Ge_(1.5)P_(3)O_(12)(LAGP)protective layer on the surface of the high-nickel single-crystal(SC)cathode material,leading to SC@LAGP *** strong Al-O bonding effectively inhibits the release of lattice oxygen(O)at elevated temperatures,which is supported by the positive formation energy of O vacancy from first-principal ***,theoretical calculations demonstrate that the appropriate amount of Al doping accelerates the electron and li^(+)transport,and thus reduces the kinetic *** addition,the LAGP protective layer alleviates the stress accumulation during cycling and effectively reduces the erosion of materials from the electrolyte decomposition at elevated *** obtained SC@LAGP cathode material demonstrates much enhanced cycling stability even at high voltage(4.6 V)and elevated temperature(55℃),with a high capacity retention of 91.3%after 100 *** work reports a simple dual-function coating strategy that simultaneously stabilizes the structure and interface of the single-crystal cathode material,which can be applied to design other cathode materials.

Meta-analysis of the efficacy of probiotics in Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy

AIM: To evaluate the role of probiotics in the standard triple Helicobacter pylori therapy. METHODS: In this meta-analysis, we investigated the efficacy of probiotics in a standard triple H. pylori therapy in adults. Searches were mainly conducted in MEDliNE/PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. Fourteen studies met our criteria, and the quality of these studies was assessed using the Jadad scale. We used STATA version 12.0 to extract data and to calculate the odds ratios (ORs), which are presented with the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The data are presented as forest plots. RESULTS: The pooled ORs for the eradication rates calculated by intention-to-treat analysis and per-protocol analysis in the probiotic group vs the control group were 1.67 (95%CI: 1.38-2.02) and 1.68 (95%CI: 1.35-2.08), respectively, using the fixed-effects model. The sensitivity of the Asian studies was greater than that of the Caucasian studies (Asian: OR = 1.78, 95%CI: 1.40-2.26; Caucasian: OR = 1.48, 95%CI: 1.06-2.05). The pooled OR for the incidence of total adverse effects was *** lower in the probiotic group (OR = 0.49, 95%CI: 0.26-0.94), using the random effects model, with significant heterogeneity (I-2 = 85.7%). The incidence of diarrhea was significantly reduced in the probiotic group (OR = 0.21, 95%CI: 0.06-0.74), whereas the incidence of taste disorders, metallic taste, vomiting, nausea, and epigastric pain did not differ significantly between the probiotic group and the control group. CONCLUSION: Supplementary probiotic preparations during standard triple H. pylori therapy may improve the eradication rate, particularly in Asian patients, and the incidence of total adverse effects. AMYLOIDOSIS is a benign process which can have systemic involvement. Though larynx is the common site of localized amyloidosis in the head and neck region,I it was seldom reported with heterochronous implication of bilateral ventricles. Here we report a case of laryngeal amyloidosis heterochronously localized at bilateral ventricles with tracheobronchial involvement. Combined with our experience we reviewed the literature, and discuss the pertinent managements of this condition.
