The OFEX (Optimal and Fully EXplicit) rate controller is able to provide not only the optimal bandwidth allocation but also the fully explicit congestion signal to sources. It exercises link-wise proportional fairness and network-wise max-min fairness, which enables the controller to feed the congestion signal back from the most congested link, instead of using the network- wise proportional fairness which feeds back the congestion signal summed along a flow path. As a result, the OFEX controller overcomes the drawbacks of the relatively explicit controllers that 1) bias the multi-bottlenecked users in terms of their source sending rate and convergence speed, 2) are not adaptable to varying link bandwidth and 3) can potentially incur large queue size upon congestion. In this paper, we first prove that the OFEX controller can converge to its equilibrium at least as fast as a geometric series in a link. Then we analyze the system stability with time delay in a single bottleneck network and show that the OFEX controller can achieve local stability under certain conditions. Besides, the robustness analysis of the OFEX controller shows how the dynamics of link bandwidth may affect the revenue of a link. Finally, with the OPNET modeler, we evaluate the performances of the OFEX controller and verify its effectiveness.

Hypersensitivity of the ternary complexes Ln(beta-dik)(4)HMQ(where Ln=Nd, Ho, Er, beta-dik=acetylacetonate(AA), dibenzoylmethanate(DBM) and MQ=4-methylquinoline) in acetone solution is studied based on the dynamic coupling model. The structures of these complexes in solution are deduced. Their coordination polyhedrons are all distorted square antiprism. Neodymium complexes have D-2 symmetry, while holmium and erbium complexes have exact D-2d symmetry.

The morphology of chromium in chilled Cu-Cr alloys with 0.14%-2.0% Cr has been studied. The results showed that eutectic Cr phase takes a fibrous shape, and pre-eutectic Cr is dendritic in the studied chilled Cu-Cr alloy. During solute treatment of the eutectic and super-eutectic Cu-Cr alloys, only part of chromium particles dissolved in copper phase, some fiber and dendritic chromium still remained. Forging before solute treatment can reduce the size of primary Cr particles, which benefits the aging structure.

In this paper, a QoS multipath source routing protocol (QoS-MSR) is proposedfor ad hoc networks. It can collect QoS information through route discovery mechanism of multipathsource routing (MSR) and establish QoS route with reserved bandwidth. In order to reserve bandwidthefficiently, a bandwidth reservation approach called the multipath bandwidth splitting reservation(MBSR) is presented, under which the overall bandwidth request is split into several smallerbandwidth requests among multiple paths. In simulations, the authors introduce Insignia, an in-bindsignaling system that supports QoS in ad hoc networks, and extend it to multipath Insignia(M-Insignia) with QoS-MSR and MBSR. The results show that QoS-MSR routing protocol with the MBSRalgorithm can improve the call admission ratio of QoS traffic, the packet delivery ratio, and theend-to-end delay of both best-effort traffic and QoS traffic. Therefore, QoS-MSR with MBSR is anefficient mechanism that supports QoS for ad hoc networks.

In this work, a third generation AI-Li alloy has been successfully spot welded with probeless friction stir spot welding (P-FSSw), which is a variant of conventional friction stir welding. The Box-Behnken exper-imental design in response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to optimize the P-FSSw parameters to attain maximum tensile/shear strength of the spot joints. Results show that an optimal failure load of 7.83 kN was obtained under a dwell time of 7.2 s, rotation speed of 950 rpm and plunge rate of 30 mm/rain. Sufficient dwell time is essential for heat conduction, material flow and expansion of the stir zone to form a sound joint. Two fracture modes were observed, which were significantly affected by hook defect. In addition to mechanical testing, electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used for microstructure evolution and property analysis. The precipitation of GP zone and AI3Li as well as the ultrafine grains were responsible for the high microhardness in the stir zone.

Double-side probeless friction stir spot welding (DP-FSSw) of AA2198 alloy was conducted to investigate the microstructure and mechanical properties. Compared with common single-side probeless friction stir spot welding (P-FSSw), the plastic strain during DP-FSSw is nearly symmetrical with respect to the bondline to suppress the extension of hook defect, which is detrimental to the joint mechanical strength. with DP-FSSw, a fully metallurgically bonded region has formed due to severe plastic deformation at high temperatures. Tensile/shear tests show that the joint strength could exceed 8 kN, which is comparable to P-FSSw and refill FSSw, and all fractures happen in a shear failure mode as cracks extend along the in terface of two sheets. The microhard ness profile exhibits a uniform distribution along the thick ness direction, in which the hook defect shows the lowest value.
