Experimental study on wax deposition of highly paraffinic oil in intermittent gas-oil flow in pipelines

Oil-gas two phase wax deposition is a fairly common and open-ended question in flow assurance of multiphase transportation *** paper investigated the two main aspects of oil-gas two phase wax deposition layer:apparent thickness and crystal structure characteristics.A typical highly paraffinic oil in Bohai Sea,China,was used as the experimental material to investigate the wax deposition thickness in oil-gas two phase under the influence of different oil temperatures,superficial gas/liquid phase velocities and gas-oil ratios by using multiphase flow loop experimental *** as in the classical theory of wax molecular diffusion,it showed that wax deposition thickness of oil-gas two phase increased with increasing oil *** of the impact of different superficial phase velocities found that the actual liquid flow heat transfer and shear stripping was the gas phase dominant mechanisms determining wax deposit *** addition,the crystal structure of the wax deposition layer was characterized with the help of small-angle X-ray scattering(SAXS)for different circumferential positions,flow rates and gas-oil *** bottom deposition layer had a complex crystal structure and high hardness,which were subject to change over flow rate ***,the SAXS results provided evidence that the indirect effect of the actual liquid velocity modified by the gas phase was the main *** study of the effect of gas phase on the wax deposition of oil-gas two phase will help shed light onto the mechanism by which this important process *** findings address a very urgent need in the field of wax deposition of highly paraffinic oil to understand the flow security of oilgas two phase that occurs easily in multiphase field pipelines.

Multi-performance evaluation of high-throughput accelerated corrosion test for high-strength low-alloy 921A steel

The corrosion behavior of high-strength low-alloy 921A steel in a simulated marine atmospheric environment was studied using a high-throughput experimental *** corrosion behavior,corrosion morphology,and corrosion products of 921A steels were analyzed using various techniques,including corrosion mass loss method,polarization curve,white-light interferometry,scanning electron microscopy,energy-dispersive spectrometry,microbeam X-ray fluorescence spectrometry,X-ray diffraction technique,and X-ray photoelectron *** test results indicated that 921A steel exhibits better corrosion resistance than Q450NQR1 steel in simulated harsh atmospheric environments,as evidenced by a lower corrosion mass loss rate throughout the corrosion *** corrosion products of both steels consisted ofα-FeOOH,Fe_(3)O_(4),andγ-FeOOH,withα-FeOOH being more prevalent in the rust layer of 921A steel than in Q450NQR1 *** inner rust layer of 921A steel also exhibited an appositional enrichment region of Cr,Ni,Mo,and V,leading to its superior corrosion resistance compared to that of Q450NQR1 *** efficacy of high-throughput accelerated corrosion experimental methods was highlighted for evaluating the corrosion resistance of steel materials in harsh environmental *** findings suggest that 921A steel exhibits better corrosion resistance compared to Q450NQR1 steel and has the potential to be more suitable in harsh marine atmospheric *** characterization of the rust layer structures and composition reveals the parallel enrichment of certain elements in the inner rust layer of 921A steel,which enhances its corrosion resistance.

Biomimetic materials that use natural wisdom to solve practical problems are developing *** trend for systematic biomimicry is towards in-situ characterization of naturalcreatures with high spatial ***,rapid reconstruction of digital twin models with the same complex features as the prototype is ***,it faces bottlenecks and limits in fast characterization and fabrication,precise parameter optimization,geometricdeviations control,and quality *** solve these challenges,here,we demonstrate astate-of-the-art method taking advantage of micro-computed tomography and three-dimensional printing for the fast characterization of the pitcher plant Nepenthes x ventrata and fabrication of its biomimetic model to obtain a superior drainage controller with multiscale structures withprecise surface morphology optimization and geometric deviation ***-rupture-based drainage dynamic and mechanisms are characterized by x-ray and high-speed videography,which determines the crucial structures for unique *** the optimized artificial pitchers are further developed into sustained drainage devices with novel applications,such as detection,reaction,and smoke control.

Heteroatom tuning in agarose derived carbon aerogel for enhanced potassium ion multiple energy storage

The incorporation of heteroatoms into carbon aerogels(CAs)can lead to structural distortions and changes in active sites due to their smaller size and electronegativity compared to pure ***,the evolution of the electronic structure from single-atom doping to heteroatom codoping in CAs has not yet been thoroughly investigated,and the impact of codoping on potassium ion(K+)storage and diffusion pathways as electrode material remains *** this study,experimental and theoretical simulations were conducted to demonstrate that heteroatom codoping,composed of multiple heteroatoms(O/N/B)with different properties,has the potential to improve the electrical properties and stability of CAs compared to single-atom *** states near the Fermi level have revealed that doping with O/N/B generates a greater number of active centers on adjacent carbon atoms than doping with O and O/N *** a result of synergy with enhanced wetting ability(contact angle of 9.26°)derived from amino groups and hierarchical porous structure,ON-CA has the most optimized adsorption capacity(−1.62 eV)and diffusion barrier(0.12 eV)of K^(+).The optimal pathway of K^(+)in ON-CA is along the carbon ring with N or O *** K^(+)storage material for supercapacitors and ion batteries,it shows an outstanding specific capacity and capacitance,electrochemical stability,and rate ***,the assembled symmetrical K^(+)supercapacitor demonstrates an energy density of 51.8 Wh kg^(−1),an ultrahigh power density of 443Wkg^(−1),and outstanding cycling stability(maintaining 83.3%after 10,000 cycles in 1M KPF6 organic electrolyte).This research provides valuable insights into the design of highperformance potassium ion storage materials.

Stability Investigation and Improvement for DC Cascade Systems with Simplified Impedance-based Stability Criterion

In DC distributed power systems(DPSs),the complex impedance interactions possibly lead to DC bus voltage oscillation or *** previous research,the stability analysis of DPSs is implemented based on mathematical analysis in control *** specific mechanisms of the instability of the cascade system have not been intuitively *** this paper,the stability analysis of DPSs based on the traditional Nyquist criterion is simplified to the resonance analysis of the seriesconnected port impedance(Z=R+jX)of source and load *** reveals that the essential reason for impedance instability of a DC cascade system is that the negative damping characteristic(Rlifies the internal resonance source at reactance zero-crossing *** simplified stability criterion for DC cascade systems can be concluded as:in the negative damping frequency ranges(Rlity criterion,the oscillation modes of cascade systems are classified.A typical one is the internal impedance instability excited by the negative damping,and the other one is that the external disturbance amplified by negativity in a low stability ***,the impedance reshaping method for stability improvement of the system can be further *** validity of the simplified criterion is verified theoretically and experimentally by a positive damping reshaping method.

Cuproptosis mediates copper-induced testicular spermatogenic cell death

Cuproptosis,a novel mechanism of programmed cell death,has not been fully explored in the context of spermatogenic *** investigated the potential involvement of cuproptosis in spermatogenic cell death using a mouse model of copper *** male Institute of Cancer Research(ICR)mice were randomly divided into four groups that received daily oral gavage withsodium chloride(control)or copper sulfate(CuSO_(4))at 50 mg kg^(−1),100 mg kg^(−1),or 200 mg kg^(−1),for 42 consecutive *** to copper overload exhibited a disruption in copper ***,significant upregulated expression of keycuproptosis factors was accompanied by a significant rise in the rates of testicular tissue cell *** revealed the presence of ferredoxin 1(Fdx1)in Sertoli cells,Leydig cells,and spermatogenic cells at various stages oftesticular development,and the Fdx1-positive staining area was significantly increased in copper-overloaded *** and decreased adenosine triphosphate levels were also observed,further implicating mitochondrial damage *** analyses revealed pathological lesions and blood−testis barrier destruction in the testicular tissue,accompaniedby decreased sperm concentration and motility,in copper-overloaded *** summary,our results indicate that copper-overloadedmice exhibit copper homeostasis disorder in the testicular tissue and that cuproptosis participates in spermatogenic cell *** findings provide novel insights into the pathogenic mechanisms underlying spermatogenic cell death and provide initialexperimental evidence for the occurrence of cuproptosis in the testis.

Adenine nucleotide translocase 2(Ant2)is required for individualization of spermatogenesis of Drosophila melanogaster

Successful completion of spermatogenesis is crucial for the perpetuation of the *** Drosophila,spermatid individualization,a process involving changes in mitochondrial structure and function is critical to produce functional mature ***2,encoding a mitochondrial adenine nucleotide translocase,is highly expressed in male testes and plays a role in energy metabolism in the ***,its molecular function remains ***,we identified an important role of Ant2 in spermatid *** Ant2 knockdown testes,spermatid individualization complexes composed of F-actin cones exhibited a diffuse distribution,and mature sperms were absent in the seminal vesicle,thus leading to male *** most striking effects in Ant2-knockdown spermatids were decrease in tubulin polyglycylation and disruption of proper mitochondria derivatives *** apoptotic cells were also observed in Ant2-knockdown *** further investigate the phenotype of Ant2 knockdown in testes at the molecular level,complementary transcriptome and proteome analyses were *** the mRNA level,868 differentially expressed genes were identified,of which 229 genes were upregulated and 639 were downregulated induced via Ant2 ***-labeling proteome analysis revealed 350 differentially expressed proteins,of which 117 proteins were upregulated and 233 were *** expression of glutathione transferase(GstD5,GstE5,GstE8,and GstD3),proteins involved in reproduction were significantly regulated at both the mRNA and protein *** results indicate that Ant2 is crucial for spermatid maturation by affecting mitochondrial morphogenesis.

High/medium entropy alloys(H/MEAs)are generally possible to exhibit chemical short-range order(SRO).However,the complex role of SRO on mechanical properties from nano-scale to meso-scale is still challenging so ***,we study the strengthening mechanism and deformation behavior in a model body-centered-cubic HfNbTa MEA by using atomic-scale molecular dynamics,micro-scale dislocation dynamics,and meso-scale crystal plasticity finite *** SRO inhibits dislocation nucleation at the atomic scale,improving the flow *** SRO-induced ultrastrong local stress fluctuation greatly improves the micro-scale dislocation-based strength by the significant dislocation forest ***,the Ta-rich locally ordered structure leads to an obvious heterogeneous strain and stress partitioning,which forms a strong strain gradient in the adjacent grain interiors and contributes to the strong back-stress-induced strain hardening.
