Uterine inflammation status modulates eggshell mineralization via calcium transport and matrix protein synthesis in laying hens

This study explored the effects of uterine inflammation on eggshell mineralization,ultrastructure and mechanical properties in laying hens modified by a lipopolysaccharide(LPS)challenge or dietary essential oil(EO)*** trial 1,a total of 72 Hy-line Brown layers at 36 wk of age were randomly assigned to 3 treatment groups(n=8),where they were intravenously injected with phosphate buffered saline,LPS at 1 mg/kg body weight,or LPS 3 times at 24-h *** trial 2,a total of 288 Hy-line Brown layers at 60 wk of age were randomly divided into 4 groups(n=8),where they were fed basal diets supplemented with EO at 0,50,100 and 200 mg/kg for 12 wk.A uterine inflammation model was constructed with LPS treatment,indicated by the elevated expression of IL-1β and TNF-α(P<0.05)and lymphocyte *** inflammation caused remarkable decreases in eggshell thickness and mechanical properties with structure deteriorations(P<0.05).Uterine inflammation stimulated the expression of matrix proteins ovotransferrin(TF)and ovalbumin(OVAL),while depressing the mRNA levels of calbindin-1(CALB1)and osteopontin in uterine mucosa(P<0.05).In contrast,EO addition alleviated uterine inflammation,evidenced by depressed levels of IL-1b and IL-6(P<0.05).There was a significant elevation in shell thickness and breaking strength following EO intervention(P<0.05),and these effects were maximized at addition of 100 mg/***,EO improved shell ultrastructure including more early fusion,less type B mammillae,and increased effective thickness(P<0.05).The alleviated inflammation decreased the expression of OVAL and TF,whereas ion transport genes like CALB1 and solute carrier family 26 member 9 were upregulated(P<0.05).Our findings suggest that inflam-matory status can impact uterine functions in calcium transport and the synthesis of matrix proteins especially such as OVAL and TF,which in turn modulates calcium precipitation and ultrastructure for-mation,thereby determining eggshell

The Tashisayi nephrite deposit is located in South Altyn *** Qiemo County,Xinjiang Province,northwest *** is a recent discovery in the vast,well-known Kunlun-Altyn nephrite belt distributed along the south of the Tarim Basin,producing more than half of the nephrite from the whole belt in *** investigations revealed that it is a dolomitic marble-related(D-type)nephrite deposit,but little is known about its age of formation and relationships between the granites and *** we report field investigations,petrography of the neph rite,as well as petrography,geochemistry,geochronology of the zoisite-quartz altered intrusive rock and adjacent *** A-type granite is identified with a SHRIMP U-Pb zircon age of 926±7 Ma,suggesting it was emplaced in an extensional tectonic environment at that *** altered intrusive rock has a cluster of U-Pb zircon age of 433±10 *** similar trace element features to the A-type granite,suggesting it was formed in an extensional regime at this later *** formed because of the metasomatism of dolomite marble by hydrothermal *** is inferred that Ca^2+was released from the dolomitic marble by metasomatism forming Ca-rich fluids,which caused alteration of both the intrusive rocks(6.00-8.22 wt.%CaO)and granite(1.76-3.68 wt.%CaO)near the nephrite ore *** is also inferred that Fe^2+from the granite migrated towards the dolomite *** fluids gave rise to the formation of *** as zoisite,in the nephrite and altered intrusive rock,and epidote in the *** on the contact *** in hydrothermal processes,and consumption of Ca^2+,the Tashisayi nephrite is considered to have formed at the same time as the alteration of the intrusive rocks,i.e.~433 *** geochronological similarity(~926 Ma.433 Ma)of South Altyn and North Qaidam may suggest that tectonically they belong to one single complex in the past,which was offset by the Altyn Tagh fault(ATF).The similar

The object of this study was to explore the regulatory mechanism of octacosanol to the body of animals and the effects of octacosanol on blood hormone levels and gene expressions of glucose transporter protein（GLUT-4） and adenosine monophosphate protein kinase（AMPK） in liver and muscle tissue of weaning piglets. A total of 105 crossbred piglets（[Yorkshire x Landrace] x Duroc） with an initial BW of5.70 ± 1.41 kg（21 d of age） were used in a 6-wk trial to evaluate the effects of octacosanol and tiamulin supplementation on contents of triiodothyronine（T3）,thyroxine（T4）,growth hormone（GH）,glucagon（GU） and adrenaline（AD） in blood and gene expressions of GLUT-4 and AMPK in liver and muscle. Piglets were randomly distributed into 3 dietary treatments on the basis of BW and sex. Each treatment had 7 replicate pens with 5 piglets per pen. Treatments were as followed: control group, tiamulin group and octacosanol group. The results showed that compared with control group and tiamulin group, octacosanol greatly promoted the secretion of T3, GH, GU and AD（P 0.05）, Results of the present study has confirmed that octacosanol affects energy metabolism of body by regulating secretion of blood hormones and related gene expression in tissue of weaning piglets, which can reduce stress response and has an impact on performance.

Model for Predicting Climatic Yield of Sugarcane in Nanning City

According to spatial distribution of climate disasters in Nanning City and physiological and ecological indicator demands of sugarcane,with the aid of HJ- 1 CCD satellite remote sensing images,basic meteorological data and geographic information data,this paper established the model for predicting climatic yield of sugarcane in Nanning City,to predict total yield of sugarcane in Nanning City. Results indicated that the distribution of sugarcane in Nanning City is greatly influenced by drought. In 2010,regions suffered from drought had sugarcane planting area of 346. 20 km2,accounting for 18.88% of the total sugarcane planting area. The influence of frost disaster on distribution of sugarcane in Nanning City is limited. Regions suffered from frost had sugarcane planting area of only 67. 1 km2,taking up 3.75% of the total sugarcane planting area. In 2010,the climatic yield of sugarcane in Nanning City was 8. 8446 million tons. It proved that the prediction accuracy of the model is up to 90%.

缺氧是肿瘤微环境的主要特点,通过缺氧诱导因子(hypoxia-inducible factor,HIF)激活众多靶基因,从而影响肿瘤的代谢、增殖、凋亡、侵袭转移、耐药等多个方面。上皮细胞间质化(epithelial to mesenchymal transition,EMT)是肿瘤发生侵袭转移的重要起始过程,缺氧亦是EMT的诱发因素之一并可通过多条信号转导通路包括TGF-β,Notch,Wnt/β-catenin等调节EMT。研究缺氧诱导EMT的机制并阻断其进程,可成为治疗肿瘤的新靶点。

Objective:Bevacizumab has an important and evolving role in improving outcomes in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC)worldwide and was approved in China in ***,there are limited real-world data on the efficacy and safety of chemotherapy regimens combined with bevacizumab in Chinese patients with *** observational,phase IV trial study aimed to obtain more experience on the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab combined with chemotherapy in Chinese mCRC ***:Between September 2013 and November 2016,patients with histologically confirmed mCRC were enrolled in a prospective,multicenter,observational,non-interventional phase IV trial at 26 centers across *** patients received different chemotherapeutic regimens combined with *** efficacy and safety data in the intention-to-treat study population were ***:A total of 611 patients were included in the efficacy *** median overall survival and median progression-free survival was 18.00 and 10.05 months,*** objective response rate was 21.00%and disease control rate was 89.40%.In subgroup analyses,the survival differences were observed according to metastatic status,duration of treatment and elevation in blood pressure.A total of 613 patients were evaluable for safety *** 569(92.82%)patients reported at least one adverse event(AE),and 151(24.63%)experienced grade 3 or higher *** incidence of bevacizumab-associated AEs of special interest was reported in 31(5.06%)patients with hypertension(n=12),abscesses and fistulae(n=7),bleeding(n=6),proteinuria(n=3),gastrointestinal perforation(n=2)and venous thrombotic events(n=1).Conclusions:This observational phase IV trial broadens our experience and knowledge of bevacizumab in the Chinese population and provides a good indication of its overall efficacy and *** in combination with chemotherapy offers clinical benefits to Chinese patients with mCRC and has an acce

Lithium metal is supposed to be critical material for constructing next-generation batteries due to extremely high capacity and ultralow redox potential. However, the perplexing issue of lithium dendrite growth impedes the commercial application. The initial nucleation and low Li ions diffusion rate in the electrolyte/electrode interface dominate the deposition behavior. Therefore, a uniform and flexible interface is urgently needed. Here, a facile method is proposed to prepare a thin and porous LiF-rich layer (TPL) by the in-situ reaction of small amount of ammonium hydrogen difluoride (NH4HF2) and Li metal. The deposition morphology on Li metal anode with LiF layer is significantly flat and homogeneous owning to low lateral diffusion barrier on LiF crystals and the porous structure of TPL film. Additionally, the symmetrical cells made with such TPL Li anodes show significantly stable cycling over 100 cycles at high current density of 6 mA/cm^2. The TPL Li|LiFePO4 full cells keep over 99% capacity retention after 100 cycles at 2.0 C. This approach serves as a facile and controllable way of adjusting the protective layer on Li metal.

Effect of dietary protein sources and storage temperatures on egg internal quality of stored shell eggs

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of various protein sources(soybean meal, SBM; cottonseed protein, CSP; double-zero rapeseed meal, DRM) on the internal quality(Haugh unit, yolk index,albumen pH,yolk hardness and yolk springiness) of eggs when stored at either 4 or 28℃ for 28 d. A total of 288 laying hens(32 wk of age) were randomly allotted to 6 treatment groups(4 replicates per treatment) and fed diets containing SBM, CSP, or DRM individually or in combination with equal crude protein content(SBM-CSP, SBM-DRM, and CSP-DRM) as the protein ingredient(s). A 6 x 2 factorial arrangement was employed with dietary types and storage temperatures(4 and 28℃) as the main effects. After 12 wk of diet feeding, a total of 216 eggs was collected for egg internal quality *** results showed as follows: 1) lower egg quality was observed in the DRM group compared with the other groups when stored at 4 and 28℃ for 28 d(P < 0.05), while there was no difference in egg internal quality among the other groups. 2) The CSP diet resulted in higher yolk hardness compared with the other diets when eggs were stored at 4℃ for 28 d(P < 0.05). Lower Haugh unit was observed in the DRM and SBM-DRM groups compared with the other groups when eggs were stored for 28 d at 4℃(P < 0.05).3) Yolk breakage occurred in the DRM group and eggs could not be analyzed for egg internal quality when stored at 28℃ for 28 d. The overall results indicated that CSP or DRM as the sole dietary protein source for laying hens may adversely affect the internal quality of stored eggs as compared with the SBM diet, and half replacement of CSP combined with SBM may maintain similar egg quality to SBM diet alone for eggs stored under refrigerated conditions.
