Analyzing and Forecasting Climate Change in Harbin City,Northeast China

Based on sounding data from 1975 to 2005 and TM/ETM+ remote sensing images in 1989, 2001 and 2007, the climate changes in Harbin City, Northeast China in recent 30 years were analyzed and forecasted. Results show that in the lower troposphere the meridional wind speed and mean annual wind speed decrease, and in the lower stratosphere the temperature decreases while the meridional wind speed increases significantly. In the study area, the climate is becoming warmer and wetter in the middle lower troposphere. The expansion of urban area has great effects on the surface air temperature and the wind speed, leading to the increase of the surface air temperature, the decrease of the surface wind speed, and the increase of the area of urban high temperature zone. The quantitative equations have been established among the surface air temperature, the carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration and the specific humidity (the water vapor content). It is predicted that the future increasing rate of the surface air temperature is 0.85℃/10yr if emission concentration of CO2 remains unchanged; if emission concentration of CO2 decreases to 75%, 50% and 25%, respectively, the surface air temperature will increase 0.65℃/10yr, 0.46℃/10yr and 0.27℃/10yr, respectively. The rise of the surface air temperature in the study area is higher than that of the global mean temperature forecasted by IPCC.

Building a high-resolution regional climate model for the Heihe River Basin and simulating precipitation over this region

Based on the Regional Integrated Environmental Model System(RIEMS 2.0)developed by START TEA-COM RRC and Department of Atmospheric Science of Nanjing University,a dataset of observation and remote sensing over the Heihe River Basin(HRB)was used to recalibrate the model’s parameters,including topography elevation,land cover type,saturated soil water potential,saturated soil hydraulic conductivity,field moisture capacity,wilting point moisture,soil porosity,and parameter b of soil hydraulic conductivity,to build a high-resolution regional climate model for the *** simulation for the period from January 1 to December 31,2000 was conducted using the regional climate model,with NCEP-FNL reanalysis data as the driving *** study focused on the ability of the model to simulate precipitation in the *** analysis results showed the following:(1)For precipitation,the model could reproduce well the spatial pattern and seasonal cycle in different regions of the HRB,simulated precipitation was overestimated in the upper reaches of the HRB and underestimated in the lower reaches of the HRB,and seasonal precipitation biases were mostly in the range of 39.9%9.6%of observations,which is mostly consistent with the IPCC report(2001).(2)The model could reproduce reasonably temporal evolution of pentad precipitation in different *** coefficients between the simulated and observed pentad precipitation were 0.8123,0.5064,and 0.7033 in the upper,middle,and lower reaches of the HRB,*** reached a significance level of 1%.(3)Dynamical downscaling of a high-resolution regional climate model was used to overcome the deficiency of long-term,high-temporal/spatial-resolution meteorological dataset in the HRB,and to drive directly the integrated model that coupled ecological-hydrological and socioeconomic processes in the HRB.

Effect of temperature and oxygen on the formation of chlorobenzene as the indicator of PCDD/Fs

Sampling and analysis of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans （PCDD/Fs） are both time-consuming and expensive. In principle, real-time monitoring of chlorobenzene （CBz） as an indicator for PCDD/Fs could be useful to control and optimize incinerator operating conditions. To test this strategy, CBz was analyzed together with PCDD/Fs in flue gas samples collected from a hospital waste incinerator. Moreover, lab experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of temperature and oxygen on CBz formation from fly ash from the same incinerator. The experimental results demonstrate that chlorobenzene （in particular PeCBz） correlate well with PCDD/Fs, in line with previous research. The optimum temperature of CBz formation is in a range of 350 to 400℃ and CBz yield increases significantly with oxygen, in line with PCDD/Fs formation. This study is useful for confirming the de novo mechanism and defining correlations between CBz and PCDD/Fs.

Comparison of different land-surface perturbation methods in short-range ensemble forecasts

In order to compare the sensitivity of short-range ensemble forecasts to different land-surface parameters in the South China region,three perturbation experiments related to the land surface model(LSM),initial soil moisture(ISM),and land–atmosphere coupling coefficient(LCC)were designed,and another control experiment driven by the Global Ensemble Forecast System(GEFS)was also *** ensemble members were initiated at 0000 UTC each day,and integrated for 24 h for a total of 40 days from the period 1 April to 10 May 2019 based on the Weather Research and Forecasting *** results showed that the perturbation experiment of the LSM(LSMPE)had the largest ensemble spread,as well as the lowest ensemble-mean root-mean-square error among the three sets of land-surface perturbed experiments,which indicated that it could represent more uncertainty and less *** ensemble spread of the perturbation experiment of the ISM(ISMPE)was generally less than that of LSMPE but greater than that of LCCPE(the perturbation experiment of the LCC).In particular,although the perturbation of the LCC could not produce greater spread,it had an effective influence on the intensity of ***,the ensemble spread of all the land-surface perturbed experiments was smaller than that of GEFSPE(the control experiment).Therefore,in future,land-surface perturbations and atmospheric perturbations should be combined in the design of ensemble forecasting systems to make the model represent more uncertainties.

Enhanced electrical resistivity and mechanical properties in BCTZ-based composite ceramic

Environmental and human health concerns about lead toxicity have prompted the development of lead-free *** them,(Ba_(0.85)Ca_(0.15))(Zr_(0.1)Ti_(0.9))O_(3)(BCTZ)with excellent piezoelectric properties has the most potential and attracts extensive ***,lack of concern toward electrical resistivity and mechanical properties has greatly hindered its practical ***,we report the achievement of enhanced insulation characteristics(grain electrical resistivity increased by one order of magnitude)and superior mechanical properties(Vickers hardness value increased by 40%)in Al_(2)O_(3)-added BCTZ composite *** improvement can be attributed to specific composite microstructure,where the nonferroelectric second phase dispersed in the grain interior and grain boundary of BCTZ matrix results in blocking effect on the electric current paths as well as propagation of *** findings will pave a new way for the practical application of BCTZ ceramics.

Simulating　sensitivities　of　Changbai　Mountain　forests　to　potential　climate　change

Changbai Mt. forest in the northeastern China is both a very important timber resource of China and one of the most typical and less disturbed temperate mixed evergreen coniferous-deciduous forest in the *** this paper, NEWCOP. a gap class model of forest growth and succession was proposed to simulate the sensitivity of the forest in Changbai Mountain to elevate CO_2. warmer temperature and precipitation change. NEWCOP was tested on long term simulation behaviors and short term fitting ability to field data. About the response of forests of Changbai Mountain to possible climate change, NEWCOP suggested that forest landscape go up within long term and forest biomass comes down within short term because of dieback of forest trees.

Regional integrated environmental model system and its simulation of East Asia summer monsoon

A continuous 22-year simulation in Asia for the period of 1 January 1979 to 31 December 2000 was conducted using the Regional Integrated Environmental Model System (RIEMS 2.0) with NCEP Reanalysis Ⅱ data as the driving fields. The model processes include surface physics state package (BATS 1e), a Grell cumulus parameterization, and a modified radiation package (CCM3) with the focus on the ability of the model to simulate the summer monsoon over East Asia. The analysis results show that (1) RIEMS reproduces well the spatial pattern and the seasonal cycle of surface temperature. When regionally averaged, the summer mean temperature biases are within 1―2℃. (2) For precipitation, the model reproduces well the spatial pattern, and temporal evolution of the East Asia summer monsoon rain belt, with steady phases separated by more rapid transitions, is reproduced. The rain belt simulated by RIEMS 2.0 is closer to observation than by RIEMS 1.0. (3) RIEMS 2.0 can reasonably reproduce the large-scale circulation.

ASIC2 Synergizes with TRPV1 in the Mechano-Electrical Transduction of Arterial Baroreceptors

Mechanosensitive ion channels(MSCs)are key molecules in the mechano-electrical transduction of arterial *** them,acid-sensing ion channel 2(ASIC2)and transient receptor potential vanilloid subfamily member 1(TRPV1)have been studied extensively and documented to play important *** this study,experiments using aortic arch-aortic nerve preparations isolated from rats revealed that both ASIC2 and TRPV1 are functionally necessary,as blocking either abrogated nearly all pressure-dependent neural ***,whether ASIC2 and TRPV1 work in coordination remained *** we carried out cell-attached patch-clamp recordings in HEK293T cells co-expressing ASIC2 and TRPV1 and found that inhibition of ASIC2 completely blocked stretch-activated currents while inhibition of TRPV 1 only partially blocked these *** staining of aortic arch-aortic adventitia from rats showed that ASIC2 and TRPV1 are co-localized in the aortic nerve endings,and co-immunoprecipitation assays confirmed that the two proteins form a compact complex in HEK293T cells and in ***,protein modeling analysis,exogenous co-immunoprecipitation assays,and biotin pull-down assays indicated that ASIC2 and TRPV1 interact *** summary,our research suggests that ASIC2 and TRPV1 form a compact complex and function synergisti-cally in the mechano-electrical transduction of arterial *** model of synergism between MSCs may have important biological significance beyond ASIC2 and TRPV 1.

A breakthrough in advancing power density and stability of carbon-based supercapacitors is trapped by inefficient pore structures of electrode ***,an ultramicroporous carbon with ultrahigh integrated capacitance fabricated via one-step carbonization/activation of dense bacterial cellulose(BC)precursor followed by nitrogen/sulfur dual doping is *** microporous carbon possesses highly concentrated micropores(~2 nm)and a considerable amount of sub-micropores(<1 nm).The unique porous structure provides high specific surface area(1554 m^2 g^-1)and packing density(1.18 g cm^-3).The synergistic effects from the particular porous structure and optimal doping effectively enhance ion storage and ion/electron *** a result,the remarkable specific capacitances,including ultrahigh gravimetric and volumetric capacitances(430 F g^-1 and 507 F cm^-3 at 0.5 A g^-1),and excellent cycling and rate stability even at a high current density of 10 A g^-1(327 F g^-1 and 385 F cm^-3)are *** compositing the porous carbon and BC skeleton,a robust all-solid-state cellulose-based supercapacitor presents super high areal energy density(~0.77 mWh cm^-2),volumetric energy density(~17.8 W L^-1),and excellent cyclic stability.
