Various yarn-shaped flexible strain sensors have recently been developed.However,research is lacking on additive manufacturing for smart clothing for integrating yarn sensors with commercial garments.Herein,a strain-sensing yarn is sewn into a piece of fabric through a novel stitching technique,and the influence of the stitching method and needle pitch on the sensing performance is investigated using finite element analysis(FEA).The sensing performance could be improved when the sensing yarn is self-locked in the fabric at the needle eyes,and the needle pitch was reduced to 0.5 cm,which is attributed to the enhanced stress and strain concentration.Meanwhile,the composite sensing fabric featured outstanding performance,including a low detection limit(0.1%),rapid response(280 ms),excellent durability(10000 cycles),and high stability(negligible drift and frequency independence).In addition,the remarkable wear resistance,washability,and anti-interference to ambient humidity and perspiration were obtained.Therein,the optimal stitch trace lengths of sensing yarn for detecting elbow motion,breathing,and heartbeats are discussed.Finally,a smart clothing system composed of smart clothing,data acquisition unit,and mobile APP was developed to simultaneously detect human movement and physiological signals.This work provides a reference to produce intelligent garments based on yarn sensors for health monitoring.

BACKGROUND:This study aims to explore whether Xuebijing(XBJ) can improve intestinal microcirculation dysfunction in sepsis and its mechanism.METHODS:A rat model of sepsis was established by cecal ligation and puncture(CLP).A total of 30 male SD rats were divided into four groups:sham group,CLP group,XBJ + axitinib group,and XBJ group.XBJ was intraperitoneally injected 2 h before CLP.Hemodynamic data(blood pressure and heart rate) were recorded.The intestinal microcirculation data of the rats were analyzed via microcirculation imaging.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) kits were used to detect the serum levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reactive protein(CRP),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in the rats.Histological analysis and transmission electron microscopy were used to analyze the injury of small intestinal microvascular endothelial cells and small intestinal mucosa in rats.The expression of vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGF-A),phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K),phosphorylated PI3K(p-PI3K),protein kinase B(Akt),and phosphorylated Akt(p-Akt) in the small intestine was analyzed via Western blotting.RESULTS:XBJ improved intestinal microcirculation dysfunction in septic rats,alleviated the injury of small intestinal microvascular endothelial cells and small intestinal mucosa,and reduced the systemic inflammatory response.Moreover,XBJ upregulated the expression of VEGF-A,p-PI3K/total PI3K,and p-Akt/total Akt in the rat small intestine.CONCLUSION:XBJ may improve intestinal microcirculation dysfunction in septic rats possibly through the VEGF-A/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.

Loop heat pipes(LHPs)are attractive two-phase thermal control devices for satellites,electronics and many other applications.They are capable of transporting heat efficiently for long distances up to several meters at any orientation.This paper investigated the heat transfer characteristics of loop heat pipes with long distances and small diameter transport lines.Small stainless steel tubes of 2 mm and 3 mm in inner diameters were chosen as liquid lines and vapor lines of the LHPs.The local thermal resistances in the evaporator of the 6 m-LHP were researched and analyzed,which indicated that the thermal resistance between the aluminum block and the vapor in the vapor channel accounted for a major proportion of the total thermal resistance.The effect of heat sink temperatures on the performance of the 6 m-LHP were compared with 10°C,15°C,20°C and 25°C cooling water temperatures.Moreover,the thermal characteristics of LHPs with transport distances of 2 m and 16 m were also experimentally investigated.The 16 m-LHP could achieve a heat transfer capacity of 100 W and the 2 m-LHP could reach more than 339 W,on the premise of the evaporator temperature below 100°C.The thermal resistance of the 2 m-LHP could achieve 0.125°C/W.

β-Sitosterol is a type of phytosterol that occurs naturally in plants.Previous studies have shown that it has anti-oxidant,anti-hyperlipidemic,anti-inflammatory,immunomodulatory,and anti-tumor effects,but it is unknown whetherβ-sitosterol treatment reduces the effects of ischemic stroke.Here we found that,in a mouse model of ischemic stroke induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion,β-sitosterol reduced the volume of cerebral infarction and brain edema,reduced neuronal apoptosis in brain tissue,and alleviated neurological dysfunction;moreover,β-sitosterol increased the activity of oxygen-and glucose-deprived cerebral cortex neurons and reduced apoptosis.Further investigation showed that the neuroprotective effects ofβ-sitosterol may be related to inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stress caused by intracellular cholesterol accumulation after ischemic stroke.In addition,β-sitosterol showed high affinity for NPC1L1,a key transporter of cholesterol,and antagonized its activity.In conclusion,β-sitosterol may help treat ischemic stroke by inhibiting neuronal intracellular cholesterol overload/endoplasmic reticulum stress/apoptosis signaling pathways.

Cryogenic loop heat pipes are highly efficient heat transfer devices at cryogenic temperature range,which have promising application prospects in satellites,spacecrafts,electronics,and so on.Cooling down process is a most critical process for a CLHP before startup.At present,secondary loop is a major way for a CLHP to fulfil cooling down and most studies are concentrated on heat transfer characteristics during normal operation.However,few investigations have been carried out on the cooling down process.In this paper,the cooling down process of a nitrogen-charged CLHP assisted with a secondary loop was experimentally investigated.A simple qualitative approach to estimate the cooling down time was proposed according to the law of conservation of energy.The two flow paths of the working fluid in the CLHP during the cooling down process were described.Experimental studies on the cooling down process with various secondary heat loads and working fluid inventory were presented in detail.With the increase of secondary heat load,the elapsed time of Stage III decreased significantly due to the larger mass flow rate in Path I.In addition,the effect of the working fluid inventory on the cooling down time was generally small in the range from 2.99 MPa to 3.80 MPa.However,with 2.80 MPa working fluid inventory,it required much longer cooling down time,which was because of the lack of liquid in the CLHP with low working fluid inventory.Moreover,the influence of gravity on the temperature variation of the components during the experiments was analyzed.This work is beneficial for better understanding of the cooling down process and optimizing of CLHPs.

Effects of cooling rate on microstructure and microhardness of directionally solidified Galvalume alloy

The influences of cooling rate on the phase constitution,microstructural length scale,and microhardness of directionally solidified Galvalume(Zn-55Al-1.6Si)alloy were investigated by directional solidification experiments at different withdrawal speeds(5,10,20,50,100,200,and 400μm·s^(-1)).The results show that the microstructure of directionally solidified Galvalume alloys is composed of primary Al dendrites,Si-rich phase and(Zn-Al-Si)ternary eutectics at the withdrawal speed ranging from 5 to 400μm·s^(-1).As the withdrawal speed increases,the segregation of Si element intensifies,resulting in an increase in the area fraction of the Si-rich phase.In addition,the primary Al dendrites show significant refinement with an increase in the withdrawal speed.The relationship between the primary dendrite arm spacing(λ_(1))and the thermal parameters of solidification is obtained:λ_(1)=127.3V^(-0.31).Moreover,as the withdrawal speed increases from 5 to 400μm·s^(-1),the microhardness of the alloy increases from 90 HV to 151 HV.This is a combined effect of grain refinement and second-phase strengthening.

Fluid catalytic cracking(FCC)is still a key process in the modern refining industry,in which nickel contamination of the FCC catalyst can significantly increase the dry gas and coke yields and thus seriously affect the stability of the FCC unit.Therefore,in this work,B_(2)O_(3)-modified SBA-15 molecular sieves(B_(2)O_(3)/SBA-15)with different B_(2)O_(3) contents were prepared,characterized,and further used as matrix component in the preparation of Ni-tolerant FCC catalyst.The characterization results indicated that the B_(2)O_(3)/SBA-15 samples possessed excellent Ni passivation ability and kept the characteristic structure of the parent SBA-15 such as highly ordered mesopores,large surface area,and high pore volume,which enabled the B_(2)O_(3)/SBA-15 sample to greatly improve the Ni tolerance of the prepared FCC catalyst.The heavy oil catalytic cracking tests indicated that,under the same Ni contamination conditions,the dry gas,coke,and heavy oil yields of the FCC catalyst containing B_(2)O_(3)/SBA-15 decreased by 0.92%,1.65%,and 1.26%,respectively,compared with those of conventional FCC catalyst,while the total liquid yield increased by 3.83%.

BACKGROUND Extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT lymphoma)occurs in approximately 9%of non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphomas.The gastrointestinal tract is the most commonly affected site of the extranodal forms of primary non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.However,it rarely occurs within the rectum,and at present,there is no consensus on its diagnosis and treatment at this site.CASE SUMMARY We report a rare laterally spreading tumour-like rectal MALT lymphoma case in which the diagnosis and the depth of infiltration were determined by magnifying endoscopy and ultrasonic endoscopy.Then,the lesion was en bloc resected by endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)alone.The lesion was confirmed as MALT lymphoma by haematoxylin and eosin staining,immunohistochemical staining and gene arrangement analysis.Surveillance exams have indicated a 2-year disease-free survival for this patient.CONCLUSION We report a rare primary rectal MALT lymphoma that was curable with resection by ESD.ESD is a safe and effective therapeutic option for rectal MALT lymphoma.

Joint Limiting Control Strategy Based on Virtual Impedance Shaping for Suppressing DC Fault Current and Arm Current in MMC-HVDC Systems

This paper proposes a joint limiting control strategy for suppressing DC fault current and arm current in modular multilevel converter-based high-voltage direct current(MMC-HVDC) systems, which includes two target-oriented current limiting controls. To limit the DC fault current in the early fault stage, an equivalent modular multilevel converter(MMC) impedance is obtained, and its high-frequency part is reshaped by introducing virtual impedance, which is realized by adjusting the inserted submodules adaptively. Following the analysis of MMC control characteristics, the arm current limiting strategy is investigated, with results showing that the inner-loop control has significant effects on arm current and that a simple low-pass filter can reduce the arm current in the fault period. Finally, by combining the virtual impedance shaping and innerloop control, the fault currents of DC lines and MMC arms can be suppressed simultaneously, which can not only alleviate the interrupting pressure of the DC circuit breaker, but also prevent the MMC from being blocked by the arm overcurrent. Theoretical analysis conclusions and the proposed strategy are verified offline by a digital time-domain simulation on Power Systems Computer Aided Design/Electromagnetic Transients including DC platform, and experiment on a real-time digital simulator platform.

MoS_(2) with a large interlayer spacing of 6.24Å(1Å=0.1 nm)and a high theoretical capacity of 678 mA·h·g^(‒1) is recognized as a potential electrode candidate for sodium-ion batteries.However,its agglomeration tendency and volume change upon the charge/discharge cycling lead to fast capacity decay and poor cyclic stability.In this work,a hierarchical Ti_(3)C_(2)/TiO_(2)/MoS_(2) composite was prepared to improve the electrochemical performance of MoS_(2).Ti_(3)C_(2)Tx MXene was used as a conductive agent and mechanical support,while zero-strain TiO_(2) generated through the in-situ oxidization of Ti_(3)C_(2)Tx MXene was utilized as a structural stabilizer.Compared with Ti_(3)C_(2)/TiO_(2),Ti_(3)C_(2),and MoS_(2),the Ti_(3)C_(2)/TiO_(2)/MoS_(2) composite exhibited excellent electrochemical performance:a high specific capacity of 413.6 mA·h·g^(‒1)was retained after charge/discharge at 0.1 A/g for 100 cycles and a high rate capacity of 302.2 mA·h·g^(‒1) was achieved at 8.0 A/g as an anode material for sodium-ion batteries.Therefore,this work sheds light on the development of MoS_(2)-based materials for anodes of sodium-ion batteries.
