A unified multi-view multi-person tracking framework

Despite significant developments in 3D multi-view multi-person (3D MM) tracking, current frameworks separately target footprint tracking, or pose tracking. Frameworks designed for the former cannot be used for the latter, because they directly obtain 3D positions on the ground plane via a homography projection, which is inapplicable to 3D poses above the ground. In contrast, frameworks designed for pose tracking generally isolate multi-view and multi-frame associations and may not be sufficiently robust for footprint tracking, which utilizes fewer key points than pose tracking, weakening multi-view association cues in a single frame. This study presents a unified multi-view multi-person tracking framework to bridge the gap between footprint tracking and pose tracking. Without additional modifications, the framework can adopt monocular 2D bounding boxes and 2D poses as its input to produce robust 3D trajectories for multiple persons. Importantly, multi-frame and multi-view information are jointly employed to improve association and triangulation. Our framework is shown to provide state-of-the-art performance on the Campus and Shelf datasets for 3D pose tracking, with comparable results on the WILDTRACK and MMPTRACK datasets for 3D footprint tracking.

Gene duplications provide evolutionary potentials for generating novel functions, while polyploidization or whole genome duplication （WGD） doubles the chromosomes initially and results in hundreds to thousands of retained duplicates. WGDs are strongly supported by evidence commonly found in many species-rich lineages of eukaryotes, and thus are considered as a major driving force in species diversification. We per- formed comparative genomic and phylogenomic analyses of 59 public genomes/transcriptomes and 46 newly sequenced transcriptomes covering major lineages of angiosperms to detect large-scale gene dupli- cation events by surveying tens of thousands of gene family trees. These analyses confirmed most of the previously reported WGDs and provided strong evidence for novel ones in many lineages. The detected WGDs supported a model of exponential gene loss during evolution with an estimated half-life of approx- imately 21.6 million years, and were correlated with both the emergence of lineages with high degrees of diversification and periods of global climate changes. The new datasets and analyses detected many novel WGDs widely spread during angiosperm evolution, uncovered preferential retention of gene functions in essential cellular metabolisms, and provided clues for the roles of WGD in promoting angiosperm radiation and enhancing their adaptation to environmental changes.

Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis following alpha-glucosidase inhibitor treatment:A case report and review of the literature

A 69-year-old man was diagnosed as having myasthenia gravis (MG) in September 2004,and treated with thymectomy and prednisolone. He was then diagnosed as having steroid-induced diabetes mellitus,and received sulfonylurea (SU) therapy in May 2005. An alpha-glucosidase inhibitor (αGI) was added in March 2006,resulting in good glycemic control. He experienced symptoms of abdominal distention,increased flatus,and constipation in October 2007,and was admitted into our hospital in late November with hematochezia. Plain abdominal radiography revealed small linear radiolucent clusters in the wall of the colon. Computed tomography (CT) showed intramural air in the sigmoid colon. Colonoscopy revealed multiple smooth surfaced hemispherical protrusions in the sigmoid colon. The diagnosis of pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis (PCI) was made on the basis of these findings. As the αGI voglibose was suspected as the cause of this patient's PCI,treatment was conservative,ceasing voglibose,with fasting and fluid supplementation. The patient progressed well,and was discharged 2 wk later. Recently,several reports of PCI associated with αGI therapy have been published,predominantly in Japan where αGIs are commonly used. If the use of αGIs becomes more widespread,we can expect more reports of this condition on a global scale. The possibility of PCI should be considered in diabetic patients complaining of gastrointestinal symptoms,and the gastrointestinal tract should be thoroughly investigated in these patients.

Acute obstructive suppurative cholangitis(AOSC) due to biliary lithiasis is a life-threatening condition that requires urgent biliary decompression. Although endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) with stent placement is the current gold standard for biliary decompression, it can sometimes be difficult because of failed biliary cannulation. In this retrospective case series, we describe three cases of successful biliary drainage with recovery from septic shock after urgent endoscopic ultrasound-guided choledochoduodenostomy(EUS-CDS) was performed for AOSC due to biliary lithiasis. In all three cases, technical success in inserting the stents was achieved and the patients completely recovered from AOSC with sepsis in a few days after EUS-CDS. There were no procedure-related complications. When initial ERCP fails, EUS-CDS can be an effective life-saving endoscopic biliary decompression procedure that shortens the procedure time and prevents post-ERCP pancreatitis, particularly in patients with AOSC-induced sepsis.

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder drainage for acute cholecystitis: Long-term outcomes after removal of a self-expandable metal stent

The efficacy and safety of endoscopic ultrasoundguided gallbladder drainage(EUS-GBD) with SEMS were also *** Between January 2010 and April 2015, 12 patients with acute calculous cholecystitis, who were deemed unsuitable for cholecystectomy, underwent EUSGBD with a SEMS. EUS-GBD was performed under the guidance of EUS and fluoroscopy, by puncturing the gallbladder with a needle, inserting a guidewire, dilating the puncture hole, and placing a SEMS. TheSEMS was removed and/or replaced with a 7-Fr plastic pigtail stent after cholecystitis improved. The technical and clinical success rates, adverse event rate, and recurrence rate were all *** The rates of technical success, clinical success, and adverse events were 100%, 100%, and 0%, respectively. After cholecystitis improved, the SEMS was removed without replacement in eight patients, whereas it was replaced with a 7-Fr pigtail stent in four patients. Recurrence was seen in one patient(8.3%) who did not receive a replacement pigtail stent. The median follow-up period after EUS-GBD was 304 d(78-1492).CONCLUSION EUS-GBD with a SEMS is a possible alternative treatment for acute cholecystitis. Long-term outcomes after removal of the SEMS were excellent. Removal of the SEMS at 4-wk after SEMS placement and improvement of symptoms might avoid migration of the stent and recurrence of cholecystitis due to food impaction.

AIM： To evaluate the effect of combination treatment with the interferon （IFN） and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor （ACE-Ⅰ） on several fibrotic indices in patients with refractory chronic hepatitis C （CHC）. METHODS： Perindopril （an ACE-Ⅰ; 4 mg/d） and/or natural IFN （3 MU/L; 3 times a week） were administered for 12 mo to refractory CHC patients, and several indices of serum fibrosis markers were analyzed. RESULTS： ACE-Ⅰ decreased the serum fibrosis markers, whereas single treatment with IFN did not exert these inhibitory effects. However, IFN significantly augmented the effects of ACE-Ⅰ, and the combination treatment exerted the most potent inhibitory effects. The serum levels of alanine transaminase and HCV-RNA were not significantly different between the groups, whereas the plasma level of transforming growth factor-β was significantly attenuated almost in parallel with suppression of the serum fibrosis markers. CONCLUSION： The combination therapy of an ACE-Ⅰand IFN may have a diverse effect on disease progression in patients with CHC refractory to IFN therapy through its anti-fibrotic effect.
