According to the World Health Organization as of September 16,2021,there have been over 226 million documented cases of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),which has resulted in more than 4.6 million deaths and approximately 14%develop a more severe disease that requires respiratory assistance such as *** tracheostomy is recommended for patients that are expected to be on prolonged mechanical ventilation;however,supporting data has not yet been provided for early tracheostomies in COVID-19 *** aim of this study was to explore established guidelines for performing tracheostomies in patients diagnosed with *** considered were patient outcomes such as mortality,ventilator-associated pneumonia,intensive care unit length of stay,complications associated with procedures,and risks to healthcare providers that performed *** observational studies,meta-analyses,and systematic reviews were collected through a PubMed Database *** sources were found through *** search was refined to publications in English and between the years of 2003 and *** keywords used were“Coronavirus”and/or“guidelines”and/or“tracheostomy”and/or“intensive care”.Twenty-three studies were *** to the complex presentation of the respiratory virus COVID-19,previously established guidelines for tracheostomies had to be reevaluated to determine if these guidelines were still applicable to these critically ill ventilated *** specifically,medical guidelines state benefits to early tracheostomies in critically ill ventilated non-COVID-19 ***,after having conducted this review,the assumptions about the benefits of early tracheostomies in critically ill ventilated patients may not be appropriate for COVID-19 patients.

To analyse the outcome of Triple procedure(Combined penetrating keratoplasty,cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation)is a surgical technique for visually disabling corneal conditions with associated ***:The medical records of 120 patients who underwent triple procedure between January 2007 and December 2011 in terms of demographic data,past ophthalmic history,indications for surgery were retrospectively *** preoperative data included the initial visual acuity at the time of presentation,slit lamp findings of cornea(scar,haze,vascularisation,stromal folds with bullae),anterior chamber,lens details,intraocular pressure status,posterior segment examination with the help of indirect ophthalmoscope or B scan ***:A total of 120 corneal triple procedures performed were included in this *** 120 patients,25(20.83%)were male and 95(79.17%)were *** age of these patients was 42.45+/-15.85 years(range 9 to 75 years).The mean postoperative follow up was 15.08+/-12.8 months(range,1.5 to 49 months).Failed therapeutic grafts(42.5%)-was the common indication found for ***,intraocular pressure was increased in 11(9.16%)*** triple procedure in terms of combined penetrating keratoplasty with extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation(PK+ECCE+IOL)was performed in 114(95%)eyes,01(0.83%)eye underwent keratoplasty with phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation(PK+PE+IOL),and secondary intraocular lens implantation(PK+IOL)in 05(4.17%)***:Triple procedure is an effective surgical option in corneal diseases associated with *** provides an optimal visual and refractive outcome especially in high risk grafts situation.

Background: Clinical practice guidelines are important for standard of care. This study was undertaken to assess the quality of Obstetrics and Gynecology guidelines in India. Objective Systematic appraisal of clinical practice guidelines (CPG) in obstetrics and gynecology in India uses Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II (AGREE II) instrument. Methods: All reported Indian guidelines in obstetrics and gynecology from 1st Jan. 2000 to 1st April 2018 were identified and subjected to inclusion using 3-point assessment criteria (relevance, clarity of intervention/outcome, and appropriate use of healthcare resources) using WHO AGREE-II instrument. Separate scores for the mean item, domain, and standardized were calculated by averaging the scores across two appraisers. Results & Discussion: Of 47 Clinical Practice Guidelines in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CPG) from India, 8 met the inclusion criteria. These were assessed using AGREE II checklist. Overall scores ranged from 8% to 22% (median 5%). No guideline received “yes” for clinical use by either of the appraisers. Scores for scope and purpose and clarity were high but were very low for all the other domains. Only 1 review had identified cost as one of the focus areas as part of the guideline. Conclusion: Though being clinically relevant the clinical practice guidelines related to obstetrics and gynecology in India score poorly. There is a need for sensitization and capacity building of clinicians and public health professionals on the development of CPG related to obstetrics and gynecology in India.

松油和桂皮油由于具有芳香性气味,因而成为良好的成虫驱避剂,但是关于它们对蚊虫的杀幼虫作用研究不多。为揭示市售的长叶松Pinus longifolia油和锡兰肉桂Cinnamomum zeylanicum油对来源于印度德里的埃及伊蚊Aedes aegypti4龄幼虫的毒杀潜力,我们进行了室内研究,以幼虫死亡率及行为改变和形态改变等指标评估其杀幼虫潜力。结果表明:两种油对埃及伊蚊4龄幼虫均具有毒杀作用,且松油的灭幼效果优于桂皮油。松油的LC50和LC70值分别为0.33093mg/L和0.54476mg/L,而桂皮油的LC50和LC70值分别为0.63159mg/L和0.77736。进一步观察发现,LC90剂量下桂皮油的杀幼虫潜力强于松油,其LC90为1.11879mg/L,而松油的LC90为1.04915mg/L。在处理的幼虫中观察到行为改变,如兴奋、坐立不安、颤抖、痉挛然后瘫痪,说明这两种油可能对其神经肌肉系统产生了影响。显微观察处理幼虫的形态改变发现,与对照相比,大多数器官的外观正常,只是肛鳃略为内收缩而引起结构畸形,提示肛腮可能是这两种油的作用位点,腮的功能异常引起了幼虫死亡。这两种油品可开发用作防治蚊虫的新型杀幼虫药剂。

Thirty-six medicinal plant species belonging to 25 families were surveyed to study Arbuscular mycorrhizal （AM） fungal diversity from different localities of North and South Goa of Western Ghats, Goa region, India. A total of 30 medicinal plant species were found to be mycorrhizal and six plant species showed absence of AM fungal colonization. Forty two AM fungal species belonging to five genera viz., Glomus, Acaulospora, Scutellospora, Gigaspora and Ambispora were recovered from the rhizosphere soil. Glomus was found to be the most dominant genera in the study sites, and Glomus fasciculatum the most dominant AM fungal species. Negative significant correlation was observed between percent colonization and spore density. Simpson＇s and Shannon Weiner diversity index studies carried out in North and South Goa exhibited less variation in both the sites, indicating a stable and a diverse plant community.

Allogenic haematological stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT) from a human leukocyte antigen (HLA) matched related or unrelated donor is used as a curative therapy for a large number of malignant and non-malignant haematological diseases. The curative effect of allo-SCT is achieved by graft versus leukaemia effect while the downside of the graft versus patient activity is the graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD), a major reason for mortality and morbidity. The search of articles for this review had been accomplished using Ovid, Medline, Embase, Pubmed and was supplemented by retrieving cross references also. Electronic literature search for English language articles with full text access was performed using graft versus host disease, ocular, management, dry eyes as key words. This review has been intended to explicate the classification, pathogenesis, risk factors and management of ocular graft versus host disease.

Purpose:Identification of sex of unknown people becomes important in situations of mass *** studies have shown that morphological characteristic of frontal sinus is distinctive to particular individual and hence,literature suggests that it can be used in establishing identification of a ***,few researches have concluded that,its use in detennining sexual dimorphism is ***:This study aimed to evaluate frontal sinus index using cone beam computed tomography(CBCT)and differentiate sex dimorphism based on the index *** and Methods:A retrospective cross-sectional study was undertaken using three-dimensional-CBCT *** simple random sampling method,150 scans were selected,out of which 74 were of male and 76 were of female within the age group of20-64 *** frontal sinus width and the height were measured,and the ratio was taken as frontal sinus *** index was correlated to the differentiation of *** were analyzed using SPSS,and sex dimorphism was assessed using discriminant function ***:The mean height of the frontal sinus in both males and females was 30.12±7.6 mm and 30.14±7.8 mm,*** mean width of frontal sinus in males(13.39±3.6 mm)was slightly more than that of females(12.06±3 mm).Conclusion:The parameter frontal sinus index measured using CBCT was found to be a contributing factor in sex determination in forensic identification within the sample population.

User Perspective of Misplaced PPIUCD and Factors Resulting in PPIUCD Removal: Qualitative Pilot Study

Objective: The aim of the current study was to assess the impact of operative interventions for misplaced device among women who opted for PPIIUCD and the evaluation of reasons for PPIUCD removal within the follow up period of two years. Design: A descriptive exploratory study was conducted over three months among fourteen PPIUCD acceptors at a tertiary care health facility in Delhi, India. Face-to-face & telephonic in-depth interviews were conducted with a selected sample of PPIUCD acceptors who had later opted for its removal. Results: Participants (n = 14) aged 24 – 40 exhibited generally positive attitudes towards PPIUCDs indicating an indicate an understanding of the importance of PPIUCD in preventing unintended pregnancies. Menstrual disturbance and misplaced IUCD were major reasons for removal. despite their own experience necessitating the removal of IUCD, positive experience by other family members (mothers in law) in this study helped to keep the confidence on the contraceptive. Themes included (a) general experience of PPIUCD use (b) Health Facility accessed for removal of IUCD (c) Would she recommend it to others? (d) preferred contraceptive after removal of IUCD. Conclusion: Misplaced IUCD, missing thread, menstrual irregularities, and pain are all associated with PPIUCD and are important reasons for dissatisfaction. Appropriate, timely and supportive individualized care that address knowledge gaps, societal perceptions, and healthcare system challenges would certainly help in reducing dissatisfaction due to PPIUCD and thereby the removal rates.
