Optimized protoplast isolation and transfection with a breakpoint:accelerating Cas9/sgRNA cleavage efficiency validation in monocot and dicot

Approximately Linear Mappings in Banach Modules over a C~*-algebra

Let X and y be vector spaces. The authors show that a mapping f ： X →y satisfies the functional equation 2d f（∑^2d j=1（-1）^j＋1xj/2d）=∑^2dj=1（-1）^j＋1f（xj） with f（0） = 0 if and only if the mapping f ： X→ y is Cauchy additive, and prove the stability of the functional equation （≠） in Banach modules over a unital C^＊-algebra, and in Poisson Banach modules over a unital Poisson C＊-algebra. Let A and B be unital C^＊-algebras, Poisson C^＊-algebras or Poisson jC^＊- algebras. As an application, the authors show that every almost homomorphism h ： A →B of A into is a homomorphism when h（（2d-1）^nuy） =- h（（2d-1）^nu）h（y） or h（（2d-1）^nuoy） = h（（2d-1）^nu）oh（y） for all unitaries u ∈A, all y ∈ A, n = 0, 1, 2,.... As human populations become concentrated in larger,more intensely urbanized areas connected through glob-alization,the relationships of cities to their surrounding landscapes are open to social,ecological,and economic *** particular,the value of access to nature in the form of nearby undeveloped wildland to ur-ban populations implies a relatively novel type of synergistic city-region *** develop a robust and replicable metric-the urban-wildland juxtaposition(UWj)-that quantifies critical dimensions of the juxtapo-sition of the urbanicity of cities with the quantity of nearby unbuilt wildlands,based on the spatial proximity and relative intensities of these two contrasting system *** a distance-decay gravity model,this analysis provides documentation on the calculation of the UWj and its component metrics,urbanicity(U)and wildland(W)and then presents U,W,and UWj metrics for 36 urbanized areas representing all regions of the U.S.,pro-viding the basis for comparisons and *** explore the potential of the metric by testing correlations with“creative class”employment and public health *** UWj has implications and potential applications for demographic,economic,social,and quality-of-life trends across the *** internationally.

Pathophysiological mechanisms underlying gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with COVID-19

Gastrointestinal(GI)symptoms,such as diarrhea,abdominal pain,vomiting,and anorexia,are frequently observed in patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).However,the pathophysiological mechanisms connecting these GI symptoms to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infections remain *** studies indicate that the entry of SARS-CoV-2 into intestinal cells leads to downregulation of angiotensin converting enzyme 2(ACE2)receptors resulting in impaired barrier *** intestinal ACE2 functions as a chaperone for the amino acid transporter B0AT1,the B0AT1/ACE2 complex within the intestinal epithelium acts as a regulator of gut microbiota composition and *** to the B0AT1/ACE2 complex lead to microbial dysbiosis through increased local and systemic immune *** studies have also suggested that altered serotonin metabolism may be the underlying cause of GI disorders involving *** findings of elevated plasma serotonin levels and high fecal calprotectin in COVID-19 patients with diarrhea indicate that the viral infection evokes a systemic inflammatory response that specifically involves the ***,the elevated proinflammatory cytokines correlate with elevated serotonin and fecal calprotectin levels further supporting the evidence of GI inflammation,a hallmark of functional GI ***,the finding that rectal swabs of COVID-19 patients remain positive for SARS-CoV-2 even after the nasopharynx clears the virus,suggests that viral replication and shedding from the GI tract may be more robust than that of the respiratory tract,further indicating fecal-oral transmission as another important route of viral *** review summarized the evidence for pathophysiological mechanisms(impaired barrier function,gut inflammation,altered serotonin metabolism and gut microbiota dysbiosis)underlying the GI symptoms in patients with COVID-19.

To assess the current level of acceptance in the United States of complementary and alternative medicine, recent research into the prevalence, acceptance, accessibility, and recognition of complementary and alternative therapies were reviewed. Several signs point to an increasing acceptance of complementary and alternative medicine in the United States; the use of complementary and alternative medicine is significantly increasing, many aspects of Chinese medicine and Ayurveda are becoming mainstream, practitioners in the United States are beginning to be licensed, and insurance companies are beginning to cover some complementary and alternative therapies. Remaining challenges to true acceptance include the restrictive Western mindset, the absence of published studies, a lack of consistent manufacturing processes and quality standards, and a fear of adulteration. Although the field still faces many challenges, alternative and complementarymedicine, including Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine, is becoming more accepted and accessible in the United States.

Optimization of the pulse width and injection time in a double-pass laser amplifier

We have optimized the input pulse width and injection time to achieve the highest possible output pulse energy in a double-pass laser amplifier using two Nd:yAG rods. For this purpose, we have extended the Frantz–Nodvik equation by simultaneously including both spontaneous emission and pump energy variation. The effective pump energy of the flash lamp was 8.84 j for each gain medium. The energy of 1 j could be amplified to an output energy of 12.17 j with the maximum achieved extraction efficiency of 63.18% when an input pulse having a pulse width of 168 μs is sent 10 μs after the absorbed pump energy becomes the maximum value.

A portable microcomputer-controlled inspection system has been developed for detection of magnetic properties of soft magnetic materials. It incorporates custom designed software for control of the magnetic field during operation such as demagnetization, field sweeping, and for data logging and analysis. Results are recorded using a 12-bit analog to digital converter and are then stored on disk. The magnetic hysteresis loop and Barkhausen noise data can be converted into important magnetic parameters: coecivity, remanence, and hysteresis loss, Barkhausen amplitude, and Barkhausen noise energy. This system incorporated with the magnetostriction, and magnetoacoustic emission, is then related with the nondestructive detection of material degradation.

A New Species of Amsassia from the Ordovician of Korea and South China:Paleobiological and Paleogeographical Significance

A new species of the probable calcareous alga Amsassia, A. koreanensis, is recognized from the Duwibong Formation （Middle Ordovician, Darriwilian） of the Taebaeksan Basin in mid-eastern Korea. This is the first report of the genus from the Korean Peninsula, expanding its geographical range to the eastern Sino-Korean Block. The new species also occurs in the Xiazhen Formation （Upper Ordovician, Katian） at Zhuzhai in the South China Block. Amsassia koreanensis is the smallest species of this modular genus, having a maximum module diameter of 0.28 ram. Module increase is by bipartite, tripartite and quadripartite types of longitudinal axial fission, but unlike other species of the genus, quadripartite fission is common. The types of fission are comparable to those in some Tetradiida （now Prismostylales, florideophycean rhodophyte algae）, although the processes of fission are different. The distribution of A. koreanensis further strengthens the biogeographical connection between the Sino-Korean and South China blocks, suggesting that these two paleocontinents were located closer together during the Middle to Late Ordovician than previously speculated.

Properties of Dispersion Casting of y2O3 Particles in Hypo,Hyper and Eutectic Binary Al-Cu Alloys

In the present work,the dispersion casting of y-2O-3 particles in aluminum-copper alloy was investigated in terms of microstructural changes with respect to Cu contents of 20 （hypo）,33 （eutectic） and 40 （hyper） wt pct by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and energy dispersive spectroscopy （EDS）.For the fabrication of Al-Cu alloy dispersed y-2O-3 ceramic particles,stir casting method was *** case of Al-20 wt pct Cu alloy （hypoeutectic）,SEM images revealed that primary Al was grown up in the *** that,eutectic phase with well dispersed ceramic particles was *** case of eutectic composition,y-2O-3 particles were uniformly dispersed in the *** the Cu is added into Al up to 40 wt pct （hypereutectic）,primary phase was grown up without any y-2O-3 ceramic particles in the early stage of ***, eutectic phase was formed with well dispersed ceramic *** can be concluded that y-2O-3 ceramic particles is mostly dispersed in case of eutectic composition in Al-Cu alloy.
