Polyamide thin film composite membranes have dominated current reverse osmosis market on account of their excellent separation performances compared to the integrally.s.inned *** their very promising separation performance,chlorine-induced degradation resulted from the susceptibility of polyamide toward chlorine attack has been regarded as the Achilles’s heel of polyamide thin film *** free chlorine species present during chlorine treatment can impair membrane performance through chlorination and depolymerization of the polyamide selective *** material point of view,a chemically.s.able membrane is crucial for the sustainable application of membrane separation process as it warrants a longer membrane lifespan and reduces the cost involved in membrane *** strategies,particularly those involved membrane material optimization and surface modifications,have been established to address this *** review discusses membrane degradation by free chlorine attack and its correlation with the surface chemistry of *** advancement in the development of chlorine resistant polyamide thin film composite membranes is reviewed based on the state-of-the-art surface modifications and tailoring approaches which include the in situ and postfabrication membrane modifications using a broad range of functional *** challenges and future directions in this field are also highlighted.

Ideal access structures admit ideal secret sharing schemes where the shares have the minimal *** multipartite access structures can well mirror the real social organizations, of which the participants are partitioned into disjoint groups according to their properties, it is desirable to find expressive ideal multipartite access structures. Integer polymatroids, due to their close relationship with ideal multipartite access structures,have been shown as a powerful tool to study the ideality of some multipartite access structures. In this paper, to cater for flexible applications, we consider several ideal multipartite access structures that further extend some known results. We first explore a type of compartmented access structures with strictly lower bounds, which provide fairness among all the participant groups when recovering the secret. Then, we investigate ideal bench access structures where the participant set is divided into two parts, that is, line-up section and bench *** participants in line-up section can delegate their capabilities to the participants in bench section in such a way that the participants in bench section can take over the role of their delegators in line-up section, which is applicable to emergency.s.tuations when there are no enough participants in line-up section for recovering the secret. Finally, we propose two types of ideal partially hierarchical access structures which are suitable to more realistic hierarchical social organizations than existing results.

We report the design and fabrication of a novel and fully integrated polymer-based centrifugal microfluidic disc for rapid automatic allergens detection. All essential steps for a single test including flow valving, sequencing, mixing, separation, extraction, and sedimentation for final detection are automatically conducted within 30 min on a centrifugal microfluidic disc. Our design features a siphon-based valving and analyte extraction structure where the released analyte is separated and subsequently extracted by a siphon valve into the detection chamber. Incorporating the siphon valve and a series of capillary valves, we realize automated detection of allergic reaction on a centrifugal microfluidic disc.

Objective:This study aimed at investigation of the stress perceived by Macao nursing students in the clinical learning ***:A cross-sectional research was designed and 203 nursing students in a public higher education institute were *** stressors in Nursing students scale-Chinese Version(sINs-CN)was used to measure nursing students'*** analysis includes descriptive analysis and analysis of ***:The overall sINs-CN mean score was 3.33(sD=0.49),while the scores for different dimensions were:clinical,3.44(sD=0.54),education,3.35(sD=0.62),finance and time,3.31(sD=0.72),confidence,3.21(sD=0.60),and personal problems,3.03(sD=0.68).Among 10 most common stressors,four belong to the clinical dimension,four to the education dimension,one to the confidence dimension,and one to the finance&time *** for factors associated with stress indicated that no statistical significance was found in most demographic variables,except year two students'stress scores were significantly lower than those of students in other years(p values were between 0.000 and 0.026).Conclusions:Macao nursing students,to some extent,experienced stress in clinical learning environment and the stress level was higher than that of Hong Kong nursing *** most common stressors were related to clinical and educational *** study.s.ggests that teaching and learning modalities and the workload of nursing students should be reviewed.

The effectiveness of copper and nickel uptake by microalgae grown in the mixture of electroplating effluent and sewage was studied. The results showed that a high percentage of copper removal (68.1%-88.2%) was achieved by Chlorellapyrenoidosa (strain No. 26) reared in the mixture of 90% electroplating effluent and 10% raw sewage during the first 3 days despite the fact that cell growth was inhibited. similar results were also obtained by using Chlorella HKBC-C3, another species collected from one of the heavy metal polluted sites in Hong Kong, isolated and cultured in the Biology Department. There was no significant difference (P>0.05) in the removal of copper and nickel from the effluent between these 2 algal species. However, it was noted that removal of nickel from the mixture by the two species were comparatively lower (68%).

Titanium-aluminium-nitride(Ti_(1-x)Al_(x)N)coatings were deposited by close-field un balanced magnetron sputtering on M42 steel substrates and WC-6wt%Co inserts at 450℃.The tribological behavior was analyzed by.s.iding against steel and WC-6wt%Co balls,while the turning performance was evaluated by a conventional tu rning machine at high cutting speeds without using *** the tribological tests,the formation of transfer layer and the variations of hardness of the co atings played an important role for sliding against steel *** the coating s sliding against WC-6wt%Co balls,the Ti-Al-N coatings showed a similar frictio n coefficient,but the TiN coating exhibited a lower *** difference could be explained by the tri-oxidation wear *** the turning tests,a super ior cutting performance of the coating was found at x=0.45,which endured 38 min utes before the tool flank wear reached the maximum value of 0.3mm,whereas only 20 minutes were endured for the TiN *** excellent performance of the c oatings in the turning tests could be explained by the enhanced mechanical prope rties and oxidation/diffusion resistance of the coatings.

The effectiveness of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors （PDE5-1s） for erectile dysfunction （ED） varies considerably among trials, but available studies investigating the factors that affect the effectiveness are few and findings are not consistent. A systematic search was performed in PubMed, Cochrane Library, and EMBAsE to identify randomized controlled trials comparing PDE5-1s with placebo for the treatment of ED. The methodological quality of included studies was assessed by the Cochrane Collaboration＇s tool for assessing risk of bias. The associations between prespecified study-level factors and effectiveness were tested by a random effects meta-regression model. This study included 93 trials with 26 139 patients. When all PDE5-1s were grouped together, Caucasian ethnicity was associated with 15.636% （95% confidence interval [CI]： 0.858% to 32.579%） increase in risk ratio （RR） for Global Assessment Questionnaire question-1 （GAQ-1）, and 1.473 （95% CI： 0.406 to 2.338） score increase in mean difference （MD） for posttreatment International Index of Erectile Function-Erectile Function domain score （IIEF-EF）, compared to Asian ethnicity. A one-score increase in baseline IIEF-EF was associated with -5.635% （95% CI： -9.120% to -2.017%） reduction in RR for GAQ-1, and -0.229 （95% CI： -0.425 to -0.042） score decrease in MD for posttreatment IIEF-EF. In conclusion, PDE5-1s are more effective in Caucasians than Asians, and in patients with more severe ED.
