A systematic experimental study was conducted on the similarities and differences in the reactions between commonly used rare earth elements(REEs)and frequently used refractories in the steelmaking *** results indicate that the reaction behaviors of La,Ce,and y with MgO,Al_(2)O_(3),and MgO·Al_(2)O_(3) crucibles differed *** consumption rates of La,Ce,and y in the molten steel were in descending order of La>Ce>y for smelting with all three kinds of *** the REEs reacted with the crucible,the contents of Mg and Al showed a trend of first increasing and then *** laboratory-scale smelting conditions,the reactions related to REEs were dominated by steel-crucible reactions,and the contact area between the unit mass of molten steel and refractory materials mainly determined the consumption rates of ***-and Ce-crucible reactions generated loose and porous reaction interfaces;however,y-crucible reactions generated a dense y_(2)O_(3) layer,dramatically suppressing the consumption rate of *** calculation indicated that the reactions between rare earth and different refractory materials were first-order *** crucible materials significantly affected the product type and morphology of the steel-crucible reaction interfaces,thereby influencing the consumption rate of *** reactions between REEs and refractories must be seriously considered,especially for small-scale smelting.

Nature provides a wealth of bio-inspiration for advanced material *** various nanomaterials into biomimetic microtextures with bioinspired functionalities has spurred increasing research interests and facilitated technological advances in various *** recent years,two-dimensional materials(2DMs)have emerged as important building block units in the biomimicry field due to their distinct chemical,physical,electrical,electrochemical,and catalytic *** this review article,various mechanically driven assembly approaches are summarized to fabricate various genealogies of biomimetic 2DM microtextures with bio-inspired ***,sequential deformation strategies are discussed to programmably construct higher dimensional 2DM microtextures,ranging from wrinkles/crumples(one-time deformation)to multiscale hierarchies(multiple deformations).Next,the current progress using higher dimensional 2DM microtextures to imitate different biological structures and/or induce bio-inspired multifunctionality is systematically *** showcases of bio-inspiration and biomimicry using different 2DM nanosheets are highlighted:(1)wrinkle patterns of an earthworm that spur the design of strain sensors with programmable working ranges and sensitivities,(2)wrinkle appearance of a Shar-Pei dog that motivates the fabrication of stretchable energy storage devices,(3)hierarchical scale textures of a desert lizard that inspire cation-induced gelation platforms for 2DM aerogels,and(4)wrinkle skin of an elephant that influences the development of 2DM protective skin for soft ***,challenges and future opportunities of adopting 2DM nanosheets to assemble biomimetic microstructures with synergistic functionalities are discussed.

Biomass has become of recent interest as a raw material for‘green’graphenic carbon(GC)since it promotes an environmentally friendly ***,we investigate a single pyrolysis route to synthesize GC from coconut shells which provides a simple method and can produce a high yield,thus being convenient for large-scale *** pyrolysis involves a stepped holding process at 350℃ for 1 h and at 650℃ or 900℃ for 3 *** GC sample resulted at the 900℃ pyrolysis has a thinner sheet,a less porous structure,a higher C/O ratio,and an enhanced electrical conductivity than those pyrolyzed at 650℃.The addition of Na3po4 catalyst has no signiﬁ-cant effects on the GC structures obtained by this *** single pyrolysis route generates thinner GC sheets compared to the two-step heat treatment followed by the liquid phase exfoliation(LPE)***,the latter method offers a formation of clean samples with a porous or holey feature which has potential for advanced energy-storage applications.

Five perovskite ceramics samples of Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) with x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,and 0.20 were synthesized using the conventional solid-state reaction *** prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transforms infrared(FTIR),and UV-Vis *** shielding properties against ionizing radiation were also *** XRD analysis shows the perovskite cubic structure as the major phase in all *** FTIR reveals a distinctive band around 614-620 cm^(-1) ascribed to the antisymmetric O-Sn-O ***-Vis spectroscopy was used to determine the bandgap according to diffuse reflectance,and the results display a fixed enhancement in the bandgap from 3.2 to 3.3 eV for all ***-ray shielding properties of the synthesized samples were experimentally measured and compared with XCOM computational *** relative differences(Δ,%)between experimental and theo retical values are low and fall within the 0.446%-7.10%*** addition of Er leads to the enhanced density,neutron,and gamma shielding *** contrast,charged particles’shielding parameters gradually reduce with rising Er *** results suggest that Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) samples can be used in different radiation shielding applications.

AIM: Mechanisms underlying the chemopreventive effects of cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors remain elusive. We have previously shown that celecoxib but not indomethacin could prevent carcinogen-induced gastric cancer development in Wistar rats. This chemopreventive effect appeared to be independent of COX-2 and prostaglandin (PG) E2 suppression since the lowest PGE2 was obtained in indomethacin *** study compared the cell kinetic changes in stomachs of rats after treatment with celecoxib (5, 10, 20 mg/(kg·d)) or indomethacin (3 mg/(kg·d)) to gain more insights into the chemopreventive ***: The apoptosis and proliferation indexes in gastric tumor, adjacent non-cancer tissues and normal gastric tissues were determined. Apoptosis was quantified by apoptotic nuclei counting and TUNEL, whereas proliferation was determined by Ki67 ***: Treatment with either celecoxib or indomethacin inhibited gastric tumor proliferation by more than 65% (P＜0.02). However, celecoxib caused a dose-dependent increase in apoptosis (P＜0.05) which was not seen in indomethacin-treated tumors (P = 0.54). The highest apoptosis to proliferation ratio was seen in tumors treated with celecoxib at 10 mg/(kg·d). Treatment with this dose of celecoxib was associated with the lowest incidence of gastric cancer ***: Our findings suggest that the difference in chemopreventive effects of indomethacin and celecoxib in this animal model of gastric carcinogenesis is largely due to the differential cell kinetic changes, which does not correlate with the degree of COX-2 and PG suppression.

Regulatory T （Treg） cells play a critical role in the maintenance of tolerance. B-la cells belong to a specific and functionally important B-cell subset that exerts its regulatory role through the production of IL-IO. While IL-IO has been correlated with the induction of type 1 Treg （Trl） cells or Trl-like cells, whether IL-lO-producing B-la cells are able to induce Treg cells, especially the Trl lineage, is poorly understood. We have demonstrated that, similar to the reported B-2 cells, B-la cells are able to convert naive CD4＋CD25- T cells into a subset of T cells with suppressive function, which we called ＇Treg-of-Bla＇ cells. Treg-of-Bla cells do not express Foxp3, but upregulate the Treg markers OX40, programmed death 1 （PD-1）, inducible costimulator （ICOS） and IL-IOR. Moreover, Treg-of-Bla cells do not express Foxp3 and produce high levels of IFN-y and IL-IO, but minimal amounts of IL-4; therefore, they resemble Trl cells. However, utilizing IL-10-/- mice, we showed that IL-IO was not involved in the induction of Treg-of-Bla cells. On the contrary, CD86-mediated costimulation was essential for B-la cells to drive the induction of Treg-of-Bla cells. Finally, we demonstrated that, in contrast to the Treg cells generated by B-2 cells that mediate contact-dependent suppression, Treg-of-B la cells suppress through secreting soluble factors. While Trl cells mediate suppression mainly through IL-IO or TGF-10secretion, Treg-of-Bla cells mediate suppression through an IL-10- and TGF-10-independent pathway. Together, these findings suggest that B-la cells induce a functionally and phenotypically distinct Treg population that is dissimilar to the reported Foxp3＋ Treg or Trl cells.

Coordination and consensus in collective behavior have attracted a lot of research *** previous studies have investigated the role of compromisers in group consensus,they provide little insight into why compromisers would allow such social arrangements to *** this study,the potential relationship between group movements and conflict management in Tibetan macaques in Anhui province,China,was investigated using hierarchical cluster *** members with higher social centrality or social rank often formed a front-runner cluster during group *** had higher leadership success than individuals outside the frontrunner *** members with lower social centrality or social rank often followed the group movements initiated by the front-runner cluster,and thus formed the compromiser ***'proximity relations with front-runners increased with their following scores to *** had fewer events of being attacked when they followed group movements initiated by the *** compromising process made compromisers lose the choice of direction preference,but it could increase their individual *** trade-off suggests that compromisers play a role of decision-maker in coordination and consensus scenarios among social animals.

With the increasing construction of artificial beach in coastal areas, it is of practical significance to study the beach surface deformation of artificial beach profile. Previous studies only focus on a single wave dynamic factor, and it is difficult to predict the beach deformation of artificial beach profile under the storm surge-wave co-action. To solve this problem, the cross-section physical model test method was used to study the beach surface deformation of a typical artificial beach profile in Shuangdao Bay, Weihai, Shandong Province, after continuous wave actions till they stabilize. The characteristics of beach surface deformation under the conditions of constant water levels, laddershaped water level combined with corresponding wave elements and storm surge-wave co-action are compared and analyzed. A beach profile model which satisfies the theory of Bruun model is proposed. The test results show that the maximum scour depth of beach under storm surge-wave co-action is smaller and the scour range is obviously larger than that under the condition of constant water levels or ladder-shaped water level. The evaluation of the maximum scour depth by traditional model test tends to be conservative while the evaluation of the scour range is *** research results can provide scientific reference for designing artificial beaches.
