Atomic and molecular processes relevant to the volumetric recombinationphenomena were investigated in a linear divertor plasma simulator MAP-Ⅱ. Volumetric recombinationis induced in He plasma by puffing of He or H_2. In the He puffing case, the reduction of the ionflux is dominated by the electron-ion recombination. In the H_2 puffing case, however, it isdominated by the molecule-assisted recombination (MAR), which is characterized by the disappearanceof the Helium Rydberg spectra and by the existence of the hydrogen negative ions. Currentachievement and the future prospect are described.

A study has been made on elements organic constituents, TSP, SO2,NO2 of atmospheric pollutants in Beijing. 17 elements, and some PAHs, e. g. B(a)P, B(b, j, k)P, and B(g, h, i)P, in airborne particles by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy and HPLC, GC/MS, have been determined respectively. It has been shown that the elements Pb, Zn, S and Cu were more enriched in fine particles and different valence states of sulfur at various sites. It was found that the concentrations of S6+ and S2-were more than 85% and less than 15% of the total sulfur respectively. Concentrations of major PAHs and sulfur-containing compounds increased in winter and in urban area. High values for Pb and Zn in city, Fe and Mn at industrial area and Cu, Al rural sites were obtained respectively. This implies the functions of different elemental sources of various sites. Thus, elements can be from distingushed anthropogenic and natural *** main contribution of SO2 was found of to have same seasonal variation as the anthropogenic elements, while that of NO2 varied only with emission from vehicles.

Clinical studies have shown that Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans(***)is associated with aggressive periodontitis and can potentially trigger or exacerbate rheumatoid arthritis(RA).However,the mechanism is poorly ***,we show that systemic infection with *** triggers the progression of arthritis in mice anti-collagen antibody-induced arthritis(CAIA)model following IL-1βsecretion and cell infiltration in paws in a manner that is dependent on caspase-11-mediated inflammasome activation in *** administration of polymyxin B(PMB),chloroquine,and anti-CD11b antibody suppressed inflammasome activation in macrophages and arthritis in mice,suggesting that the recognition of lipopolysaccharide(LPS)in the cytosol after bacterial degradation by lysosomes and invasion via CD11b are needed to trigger arthritis following inflammasome activation in *** data reveal that the inhibition of caspase-11-mediated inflammasome activation potentiates aggravation of RA induced by infection with *** work highlights how RA can be progressed by inflammasome activation as a result of periodontitis-associated bacterial infection and discusses the mechanism of inflammasome activation in response to infection with ***.

Anti-Obesity Effects of Dietary d-Allulose and Medium-Chain Triglycerides in High-Fat Diet-Fed Rats

d-Allulose, a rare sugar, exerts anti-obesity effects by inhibiting hepatic lipogenesis and promoting energy expenditure. Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) consist of three medium-chain fatty acids connected by glycerol. MCTs have been extensively investigated for their ability to reduce body fat accumulation. We previously investigated the anti-obesity effects of a combination of dietary d-allulose and MCT (5% - 13%) in rats;however, we could not confirm the anti-obesity effects of MCT or observed synergetic effects between d-allulose and MCT on body fat loss. We speculated that our previous studies were influenced by the excessive amount of MCT in the diets. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to investigate the anti-obesity effects of the simultaneous intake of d-allulose and MCT in rats fed an obesity-inducing high-fat diet with a low amount of MCTs (2%). Thirty-two male Wistar rats (3-week-old) were randomly divided into four groups: control, d-allulose, MCT, and d-allulose + MCT groups. Rats in each group were fed ad libitum on a control (no d-Allulose or MCT), 5% d-allulose, 2% MCT, or 5% d-allulose + 2% MCT diets for 16 weeks. Abdominal adipose tissue weights were significantly lower in the d-allulose diet group than in the control group, whereas no differences were observed between results of the MCT-supplemented groups. The total body fat mass was significantly lower in the d-allulose and MCT diet groups than in the control group, but no differences were observed between the MCT-supplemented groups. These results suggested that anti-obesity effects of dietary d-allulose were observed, and the effects of dietary MCTs were weaker than those of d-allulose. Moreover, we confirmed the interaction between dietary d-allulose and MCT on indicators of obesity. Interestingly, their effects were not synergistic, as MCT supplementation offset the anti-obesity effects of dietary d-allulose. BACKGROUND Postoperative aortobronchial fistula(ABF)is a rare complication that can occur in 0.3%-5.0%of patients over an extended period of time after thoracic aortic *** visualization of the fistula via imaging is *** To investigate the relationship between computed tomography(CT)findings and the clinical signs/symptoms of ABF after thoracic aortic *** Six patients(mean age 71 years,including 4 men and 2 women)with suspected ABF on CT(air around the graft)at our hospital were included in this retrospective study between January 2004 and September *** CT findings included direct confirmation of ABF,peri-graft fluid,ring enhancement,dirty fat sign,atelectasis,pulmonary hemorrhage,and bronchodilation,and the clinical course were retrospectively *** proportion of each type of CT finding was *** ABF detection after surgery was found to have a mean and median of 14 and 13 years,*** signs and symptoms were asymptomatic in 4 patients,bloody sputum was found in 1 patient,and fever was present in 1 *** complications of ABF included graft infection in 2 patients and graft infection with hemoptysis in 2 *** the 6 patients,3 survived,2 died,and 1 was lost to *** locations of the ABFs were as follows:1 in the ascending aorta;1 in the aortic arch;2 in the aortic arch leading to the descending aorta;and 2 in the descending *** were directly confirmed by CT in 4/6(67%)***-graft dirty fat(4/6,67%)and peri-graft ring enhancement(3/6,50%)were associated with graft infection,endoleaks and pseudoaneurysms were associated with hemoptysis(2/6,33%).CONCLUSION Asymptomatic ABF after thoracic aortic surgery can be confirmed on chest *** is useful for the diagnosis of ABF and its complications.

A design method of a negative refractive index for free surface water waves in deep water is presented. To obtain a condition of a negative index, an analogy between water waves in a water channel and electric waves in an electric circuit is employed. An analytical solution of waves around a periodic array of rectangular columns is obtained by a circuit analysis. Attention is not focused on columns but a space among columns, and then the space is regarded as the water channel. Therefore, the circuit analysis can be applied to water waves. One channel is treated as a unit structure and a number of channels are periodically cascaded as a network. The negative refraction and backward waves by a network of the water channels are shown. Since the negative refraction might occur even around simple periodic structures, it is meaningful to understand wave phenomenon around offshore structures and develop innovative technology.
