Pharmacokinetics Evaluation of Nimotuzumab in Combination with Doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide in Patients with Advanced Breast Cancer

EGFr （Epidermal growth factor receptor） overexpression has been detected in many tumors of epithelial origin, specifically in breast cancer and it is often associated with tumor growth advantages and poor prognosis. The nimotuzumab is a genetically engineered humanized MAb （monoclonal antibody） that recognizes an epitope located in the extracellular domain of human EGFr. The aim of this study was to assess the pharmacokinetics of nimotuzumab in patients with locally advanced breast cancer who are receiving neoadyuvant therapy combined with the AC chemotherapy regimen （i.e., 60 mg/m2 of Doxorubicin and 600 mg/m2 of Cyclophosphamide in 4 cycles every 21 days）. A single center, non-controlled, open Phase I clinical trial, with histopathological diagnosis of locally advanced stage III breast cancer, was conducted in 12 female patients. Three patients were enrolled at each of the following fixed dose levels： 50, 100, 200 and 400 mg/week. Multiple intermittent short-term intravenous infusions of nimotuzumab were administered weekly, except on weeks 1 and 10, when blood samples were drawn for pharmacokinetic assessments. Nimotuzumab showed dose-dependent kinetics. No anti-idiotypic response against nimotuzumab was detected in blood samples of participants. There was not interaction between the administration of nimotuzumab and chemotherapy at the dose levels studied. The optimal biological doses ranging were estimated to be 200 mg/weekly to 400 mg/weekly.

This paper presents an analysis of the electric power flows in a hot rolling mill plant using a power quality analyzer and developing simulation models with Matlab-Simulink. The model inputs have been taken from process data by the process computer of the plant. Data from different rolling campaigns have been analysed. A STATCOM （static synchronous compensator） with a control strategy based on voltage oriented control with d-q coordinates is used as solution to improve the reactive compensation as well as to minimize the voltage fluctuations and sags effect. The overall electric model has been simulated with the STATCOM to check the improvement in the voltage stability and the consumption.

Characterizing the diversity and structure of host–parasite communities is crucial to understandingtheir eco-evolutionary *** and related haemosporidian parasites are responsible forfitness loss and mortality in bird species ***,despite exhibiting the greatest ornithologicalbiodiversity,avian haemosporidians from Neotropical regions are quite ***,we analyze the genetic diversity of bird haemosporidian parasites(Plasmodium andHaemoproteus)in 1,336 individuals belonging to 206 bird species to explore for differences in diversityof parasite lineages and bird species across 5 well-differentiated Peruvian *** 70 different haemosporidian lineages infecting 74 bird *** showed that 25 out ofthe 70 haplotypes had not been previously ***,we also identified 81 new host–parasite interactions representing new host records for these haemosporidian *** outcomesrevealed that the effective diversity(as well as the richness,abundance,and Shannon–Weaver index)for both birds and parasite lineages was higher in Amazon basin ***,we also showed that ecoregions with greater diversity of bird species also had highparasite richness,hence suggesting that host community is crucial in explaining parasite *** parasites were found in ecoregions with lower bird diversity,implying that the abundanceand richness of hosts may shape the exploitation strategy followed by haemosporidian *** outcomes reveal that Neotropical region is a major reservoir of unidentified *** studies analyzing host distribution and specificity of these parasites inthe tropics will provide important knowledge about phylogenetic relationships,phylogeography,and patterns of evolution and distribution of haemosporidian parasites.

A Study of Eruca vesicaria, Bromelia hemisphaerica and Erythrina americana as Green Corrosion Inhibitors for Carbon Steel in Sulfuric Acid

A study of Eruca vesicaria, Bromelia hemisphaerica and Erythrina americana as eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors for 1018 carbon steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 has been carried out by using weight loss tests, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measuremnts. Results have shown that the three extracts performed as good corrosion inhibitors, but the Eruca vesicaria exhibited the best performance followed by Erythrina americana. The three inhibitors formed a protective, passive film which protected the steel from corrosion. This was because they contain antioxidants present in their molecular structure with heteroatoms such as N, C and O like phenols, amino acids, etc., which react with metal and environment to form the protective film.

Application of Anodic Oxidation with Graphite Electrodes in Pretreated Leachates

Currently, landfills are the main method used for the final disposal of urban solid waste. The degradation processes that waste goes through in these sites, alongside rainwater that percolates through them, generate highly polluting liquids (leachate). In the treatment of leachate, advanced oxidation processes (AOP) can significantly reduce the concentrations of different pollutants. Due to the high documented potential around AOPs, in this study, the effectiveness of anodic oxidation in the removal of the remaining organic load in leachates pretreated in a biological system was evaluated. Graphite electrodes were used as anode and cathode. The efficiency of anodic oxidation, in terms of the removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and color, was evaluated under different current densities (7, 12, 17 and 22 mA/cm2) and pH values (3, 4.5 and 6). Under the best conditions found (22 mA/cm2 and pH of 6) and with an oxidation time of 5 hours, a maximum removal of 68% in COD and 91% in color was achieved, which represented a quality in the final effluent of 271 mg/L and 151 Pt-Co in COD and color, respectively. Therefore, considering that graphite is an economic and widely available material, the results obtained show anodic oxidation, with the use of graphite electrodes, as a technically viable alternative as a final purification stage for pretreated leachates.

Rare earths have been extensively developed in recent years, however, new hosts allow high excitation and emission efficiency, in this sense, gadolinium vanadate has been extensively studied and in previous works it has been widely used in down conversion systems. Because of the strong absorption of the VO4 groups and efficient energy transfer from GdVO4 to lanthanide ions, in this work its up-conversion properties were studied when is co-doped with yb3+, X3+ where X = Tm, Er and Ho. The powders synthesized presented a high crystallinity and a rounded morphology and exhibit a high luminescence when are excited with IR radiation.

Theoretical and Experimental Exploration of Organic Synthesis Routes to Obtain Natural Rubber Analogues

In the present work, synthesis routes and the reactions involved in the polymerization of two organic compounds similar to natural rubber were studied. To these routes and reactions, modifications related with the previously reported in the literature were performed in order to study them through theoretical tools and determine their prediction capability for the design of those analogs. The semi-empirical method Austin Model 1 (AM1) was used for the study of electronic configurations and it was shown that the synthesis of the polystyrene polymer (PS) and the poly copolymer (styrene-butadiene) (SBR) is possible through the use of free radicals from styrene and 1,3-butadiene monomers using benzoyl peroxide as the catalyst in both cases; going through the intermediates 1-phenyl-2-[(phenylcarbonyl)oxy]ethyl and (2E)-4(oxy (phenylcarbonyl))2-buten-1-yl. The results show that the higher electronic densities are found over the active atom in the radical compared to the electronic densities over the ions and the interest atoms in a possible condensation. Additionally, the study of the reaction mechanisms for the designed organic synthesis routes was performed by applying the frontier orbitals theory developed by R. B. Woodward, and R. Hoffmann and the respective correlation diagrams that showed thermal viability were built demonstrating the consistency between the characteristics of the orbital symmetry in the concerted reactions of the reactants and products; therefore it is seen that the free radical synthesis do not show symmetry restrictions, and it is possible to make it by a thermal route with low activation energy thresholds. The experimental yields of polymerizations were 90% and 75% for polystyrene (PS) and poly (styrene-butadiene) (SBR) respectively. Heart diseases are the main cause of mortality in Mexico, being coronary heart disease the most frequent in the country. Its high prevalence makes important the study of the pathophysiology and the search for prognostic factors. Different genes and polymorphisms promote atherogenesis and coronary artery disease, they affect inflammatory and vascular pathological processes. yle="font-family:Verdana;">Interferon regulatory factor 5 (IRF5) is associated with coronary heart disease, it promotes chronic inflammation and cytokines release;it could trigger immune reactions and its activating receptors express in the vascular endothelium. Besides, polymorphisms in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) are implied with coronary disease, they are found in angiotensinogen (AGT), angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R), angiotensin II type 2 receptor (AT2R), and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) genes. These genetic polymorphisms are associated with a prothrombotic state, endothelial dysfunction, and immune activation. Multiple experimental studies showed that chronic activation of RAAS and chronic expression of IRF5 generates an environment prone to the development of atherosclerosis, and autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases. Studying these specific genes and their relationship with coronary heart disease will allow a better understanding of the pathological process and possibly the quest for new treatments.
