The advantages of multi-level omics research on stem cell-based therapies for ischemic stroke

Stem cell transplantation is a potential therapeutic strategy for ischemic stroke. however, despite many years of preclinical research, the application of stem cells is still limited to the clinical trial stage. Although stem cell therapy can be highly beneficial in promoting functional recovery, the precise mechanisms of action that are responsible for this effect have yet to be fully elucidated. Omics analysis provides us with a new perspective to investigate the physiological mechanisms and multiple functions of stem cells in ischemic stroke. Transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic analyses have become important tools for discovering biomarkers and analyzing molecular changes under pathological conditions. Omics analysis could help us to identify new pathways mediated by stem cells for the treatment of ischemic stroke via stem cell therapy, thereby facilitating the translation of stem cell therapies into clinical use. In this review, we summarize the pathophysiology of ischemic stroke and discuss recent progress in the development of stem cell therapies for the treatment of ischemic stroke by applying multi-level omics. We also discuss changes in rNAs, proteins, and metabolites in the cerebral tissues and body fluids under stroke conditions and following stem cell treatment, and summarize the regulatory factors that play a key role in stem cell therapy. The exploration of stem cell therapy at the molecular level will facilitate the clinical application of stem cells and provide new treatment possibilities for the complete recovery of neurological function in patients with ischemic stroke.

Why lowland riparian trees are difficult to use for streamflow reconstruction

Existing streamflow reconstructions based on tree-ring analysis mostly rely on species from upland,mainly montane areas,while lowland species(generally plain)areas are rarely *** limits the understanding of streamflow change history in the lowlands,which is an important basis for water resource *** study focused on Populus euphratica stands located along the main stream,eastern and western tributaries in the lower reaches of the heihe river basin(hrb),in arid northwestern *** investigated how streamflow regulation interferes with ripar-ian trees in lowlands when they used for streamflow ***-ring width chronologies were developed and analyzed in conjunction with meteorological and hydrologic observation *** results show streamflow regulation leads in sharp fluctuations in the streamflow allocation between the eastern tributaries and western *** resulted in instability of the correlation between streamflow at the two tributaries and at the Zhengyixia hydrologic station,with corresponding fluctuations in radial growth of poplar trees on the banks of the two tributaries and at the *** regulation altered the natural patterns of seasonal streamflow below the station,changing the time window of poplar *** study provides useful insight into tree-ring width based streamflow reconstruction in the lowlands.

Large eddy simulation of boundary layer combustion of hydrogen and hydrocarbon fuel films in a modeled scramjet combustor

Supersonic fuel film cooling is a promising way to simultaneously reduce the severe wall heat and friction load of the internal passage in a scramjet engine when operating at hypersonic *** eddy simulations were performed to investigate the cooling and wall friction characteristics of hydrogen and hydrocarbon films under inert and reactive *** results show that the essential difference of the turbulent state in the mixing layer contributes to the totally different behaviors of the cooling and wall friction reduction performances of the two fuel *** turbulent transport processes between the hydrogen film and the mainstream are much weaker as compared to the case of hydrocarbon film,making inert hydrogen rather superior in cooling and friction reduction ***,the increase of wall temperature for hydrogen film under the inert case is mainly driven by the loss of hydrogen with high heat capacity instead of by direct heat ***,the film cooling performance severely deteriorates when the hydrogen film burns due to presence of severe heat release sources near the *** the other hand,combustion of hydrocarbon film in the boundary layer can remarkably improve its originally barely-satisfactory cooling and friction reduction performance to the level comparable to that of hydrogen film,due to the suppression of turbulent transport processes in the mixing layer and presence of heat absorption sources near the ***,the hydrogen film is more advantageous in friction reduction,while the hydrocarbon film is more suitable for cooling.

Alleviating the anisotropic microstructural change and boosting the lithium ions diffusion by grain orientation regulation for Ni-rich cathode materials

Generally,layered Ni-rich cathode materials exhibit the morphology of polycrystalline secondary sphere composed of numerous primary *** the arrangement of primary particles plays a very important role in the properties of Ni-rich *** disordered particle arrangement is harmful to the cyclic performance and structural stability,yet the fundamental understanding of disordered structure on the structural degradation behavior is ***,we have designed three kinds of LiNi_(0.83)Co_(0.06)Mn_(0.11)O_(2) cathode materials with different primary particle orientations by regulating the precursor coprecipitation *** finite element simulation and in-situ characterization,the Li^(+)transport and structure evolution behaviors of different materials are ***,the smooth Li^(+)diffusion minimizes the reaction heterogeneity,homogenizes the phase transition within grains,and mitigates the anisotropic microstructural change,thereby modulating the crack evolution ***,the optimized structure evolution ensures radial tight junctions of the primary particles,enabling enhanced Li^(+)diffusion during dynamic ***-loop bidirectional enhancement mechanism becomes critical for grain orientation regulation to stabilize the cyclic *** precursor engineering with particle orientation regulation provides the useful guidance for the structural design and feature enhancement of Ni-rich layered cathodes.

Influence and optimization of swirler parameters on elbow wear of deep coal fluidization pipeline transportation system

Elbow wear is a major threat to the multiphase pipeline transportation industry,which has a negative impact on the stable operation of the transportation *** order to find the wear reduction methods of elbows in the fluidization pipeline transportation system for 2000-meter-deep coal resources,the swirler was installed upstream of the elbows,and wear simulations and tests of three kinds of elbows were carried *** results showed that the maximum wear rate(MWr)of elbows increased and then decreased along the elbow *** to the different directions of gravity,the heavy wear position(hWP)of the horizontal-vertical(h-V)elbow was in front of the vertical-horizontal(V-h)*** the downstream portion of the horizontal-horizontal(h-h)elbow was still a horizontal pipe,the hWP of the h-h elbow almost covered the whole *** swirler placed upstream of the elbows could make the particles at the elbow move to the intrados of the elbows,resulting in less collision between the particles and the extrados of the elbows,thus reducing the wear of the *** wear reduction effects of swirlers on three different elbows were favorably connected with the guide vane angle(GVA)and negatively correlated with the guide vane length(GVL),decreased first and then increased as the guide vane height(GVh)increased,and were little affected by the guide vane number(GVN)and the guide vane thickness(GVT).The mathematical models between the MWr of the elbows and guide vane parameters were *** bench tests,the wear reduction effect of three kinds of elbows under the optimal guide vane parameters was 58.4%,76.9%,and 78.6%,*** errors between the bench test results and the simulation results were around 10%.

In this study,we conducted a search for dark matter using a part of the data recorded by the CMS experiment during run-I of the LhC in 2012 with a center of mass energy of 8 TeV and an integrated luminosity of 11.6 fb−*** data were gathered from the CMS open *** matter,in the framework of the simplified model(mono-Z′),can be produced from proton-proton collisions in association with a new hypothetical gauge boson,Z′.Thus,the search was conducted in the dimuon plus large missing transverse momentum *** benchmark scenario of mono-Z′,which is known as light vector,was used for interpreting the CMS open *** evidence of dark matter was observed,and exclusion limits were set on the masses of dark matter and Z′at 95%confidence level.

Synthesis of granulated Li_(1.33)Mn_(1.67)O_(4) via two antisolvent methods for lithium adsorption from gas-produced water

Gas-produced water is an accompanying wastewater in the natural gas extraction process,and it is a potential liquid lithium resource that contains a considerable amount of *** study investigated the feasibility of using manganese-based ion sieves to adsorb and extract lithium from gas-produced *** we focused on the applicability of two different granulation methods,extrusion and droplet,in gas-produced water *** types of h_(1.33)Mn_(1.67)O_(4) particles were prepared by the extrusion method(EhMO)and the droplet method(DhMO).The porosity of DhMO was much higher than that of EhMO,and the adsorption performance of DhMO increased with the decrease of binder *** prepared with a binder concentration of 0.14 g·ml^(-1)exhibited the best adsorption performance in gas-produced water,and the Li^(+)adsorption capacity could reach 25.14 mg·g^(-1).In gas-produced water,the adsorption equilibrium of DhMO only took 9 h,and the adsorption process conformed to the Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order kinetic *** pore diffusion model(PDM)could well describe its adsorption ***,DhMO showed a great selectivity to Li^(+),and the selectivity order of DhMO in gas-produced water was Li^(+)>Ba^(2+)>>Mg^(2+),Ca^(2+),Sr^(2+)>>Na^(+)>>K^(+).After 20 cycles,the Li^(+)adsorption capacity was still higher than 17.30 mg·g^(-1),and the rate of manganese dissolution was less than 1%.

Optimization of chemistry and process parameters for control of intermetallic formation in Mg sludges

Intermetallic formation in sludge during magnesium(Mg)melting,holding and high pressure die casting practices is a very important ***,very often it is overlooked by academia,original equipment manufacturers(OEM),metal ingot producers and even die *** aim of this study was to minimize the intermetallic formation in Mg sludge via the optimization of the chemistry and process *** Al8Mn5 intermetallic particles were identified by the microstructure analysis based on the Al and Mn *** design of experiment(DOE)technique,Taguchi method,was employed to minimize the intermetallic formation in the sludge of Mg alloys with various chemical compositions of Al,Mn,Fe,and different process parameters,holding temperature and holding *** sludge yield(Sy)and intermetallic size(IS)was selected as two *** optimum combination of the levels in terms of minimizing the intermetallic formation were 9 wt.%Al,0.15 wt.%Mn,0.001 wt.%(10 ppm)Fe,690℃ for the holding temperature and holding at 30 mins for the holding time,*** best combination for smallest intermetallic size were 9 wt.%Al,0.15 wt.%Mn,0.001 wt.%(10 ppm)Fe,630℃ for the holding temperature and holding at 60 mins for the holding time,*** groups of sludge factors,Chemical Sludge(CSF),Physical Sludge(PSF)and Comprehensive Sludge Factors(and CPSF)were established for prediction of sludge yields and intermetallic sizes in Al-containing Mg *** CPSF with five independent variables including both chemical elements and process parameters gave high accuracy in prediction,as the prediction of the PSF with only the two processing parameters of the melt holding temperature and time showed a relatively large deviation from the experimental *** Chemical Sludge Factor was primarily designed for small ingot producers and die casters with a limited melting and holding capacity,of which process parameters could be fixed *** Physical Sludge Factor could be used f

Ultra-efficient and parameter-free computation of submicron thermal transport with phonon Boltzmann transport equation

Understanding thermal transport at the submicron scale is crucial for engineering applications,especially in the thermal management of electronics and tailoring the thermal conductivity of thermoelectric *** the submicron scale,the macroscopic heat diffusion equation is no longer valid and the phonon Boltzmann transport equation(BTE)becomes the governing equation for thermal ***,previous thermal simulations based on the phonon BTE have two main limitations:relying on empirical parameters and prohibitive computational ***,the phonon BTE is commonly used for qualitatively studying the non-Fourier thermal transport phenomena of toy *** this work,we demonstrate an ultra-efficient and parameter-free computational method of the phonon BTE to achieve quantitatively accurate thermal simulation for realistic materials and *** properly integrating the phonon properties from first-principles calculations,our method does not rely on empirical material properties *** can be generally applicable for different materials and the predicted results can match well with experimental ***,by developing a suitable ensemble of advanced numerical algorithms,our method exhibits superior numerical *** full-scale(from ballistic to diffusive)thermal simulation of a 3-dimensional fin field-effect transistor with 13 million degrees of freedom,which is prohibitive for existing phonon BTE solvers even on supercomputers,can now be completed within two hours on a single personal *** method makes it possible to achieve the predictive design of realistic nanostructures for the desired thermal *** also enables accurately resolving the temperature profiles at the transistor level,which helps in better understanding the self-heating effect of electronics.
