The thermal stability.and mechanical properties of a gradient-nanograined structure(gNS)CoCrNi medium entropy.alloy.MEA)processed by.ultrasonic surface rolling were studied by.using isothermal/isochronal annealing tests combined with quasi-in-situ electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)characterization and Vickers micro-hardness(HV)measurements.A lay.r by.lay.r high-throughput investigation method was used to quantitatively.study.the grain growth kinetics and grain boundary.evolution with different initial grain sizes,which could effectively.save specimen and time *** grain nucleation and growth,as well as shrink and disappearance process throughΣ3 coincidence site lattice boundary.migration with slightly.lattice rotation during annealing were directly.*** lay.r by.lay.r grain growth kinetics and calculated activation energy.indicate that the thermal stability.of nanograined top surface lay.r is relatively.higher than that of nano-twined subsurface lay.r for the gradient CoCrNi MEA processed by.ultrasonic surface *** analy.is show that the grain boundary.relaxation and dy.amic recry.tallization of the topmost nano-grains led to the decrease of grain boundary.energy.thus improving their thermal *** present work provided theoretical basis for the application of CoCrNi MEA at high ***,the high-throughput method on the investigation of grain stability.by.using gradient structure can be easily.extended to other materials and it is of great significance for understanding the microstructural evolution of gradient materials.

Study.on the hy.rogen absorption properties of a y.dTbDy.o rare-earth high-entropy.alloy

This study.investigated the microstructure and hy.rogen absorption properties of a rare-earth high-entropy.alloy.HEA),*** indicated that the y.dTbDy.o alloy.had a microstructure of equiaxed grains,with the alloy.elements distributed *** hy.rogen absorption,the phase structure of the HEA changed from a solid solution with an hexagonal-close-packed(HCP)structure to a high-entropy.hy.ride with an faced-centered-cubic(FCC)structure without any.secondary.phase *** alloy.demonstrated a maximum hy.rogen storage capacity.of 2.33 H/M(hy.rogen atom/metal atom)at 723 K,with an enthalpy.change(ΔH)of-141.09 kJ·mol^(-1)and an entropy.change(ΔS)of-119.14 J·mol^(-1)·K^(-1).The kinetic mechanism of hy.rogen absorption was hy.ride nucleation and growth,with an apparent activation energy.E_(a))of 20.90 kJ·mol^(-1).Without any.activation,the y.dTbDy.o alloy.could absorb hy.rogen quickly.180 s at 923 K)with nearly.no incubation period *** reason for the obtained value of 2.33 H/M was that the hy.rogen atoms occupied both tetrahedral and octahedral *** results demonstrate the potential application of HEAs as a high-capacity.hy.rogen storage material with a large H/M ratio,which can be used in the deuterium storage field.

Martensitic Transformation in Fe-Mn-Si Based Shape Memory.Alloy.

The critical driving force for martensitic transformation fcc ( gamma ) y.elds hcp ( epsilon ) in ternary.Fe-Mn-Si alloy. increases with the content of Mn and decreases with that of Si. Thermody.amical prediction of M//s in ternary.Fe-Mn-Si alloy. was established. The fcc ( gamma ) y.elds hcp ( epsilon ) martensitic transformation in Fe-Mn-Si is a semi-thermoelastic and the nucleation process does not strongly.depend on soft mode. Nucleation occurs directly.through an overlapping of stacking fault rather than pole mechanism, and it is suggested that stacking fault energy.(SFE) is the main factor controlling nucleation. Based on the phenomenological theory.of martensite cry.tallography. a shuffle on (0001)//h//c//p plane is required when d//1//1//1 does not equal d//0//0//0//2. The derived principal strain in Bain distortion is smaller, i, e., more reasonable than the values given by.Christian. Alloy.ng elements strengthening the austenite, lowering SFE of gamma phase and reducing T//N** gamma temperature may.be beneficial to shape memory.effect of Fe-Mn-Si based alloy.. Accordingly. Fe-Mn-Si-RE and Fe-Mn-Si-Cr-N (or Fe-Mn-Si-Ni-Cr-N) are worthy.to be recommended as shape memory.materials with improved shape memory.effect. (Edited author abstract) 48 Refs.
