Numerical s.mulation technology.was.applied for optimizing the cas.ing des.gn and conditions.in large cas. iron cas.ings.for marine engine. By.the s.mulation of mold filling and s.lidification s.quences.the problems.of the previous.cas.ing conditions.were analy.ed and marked improvements.for large cy.inder liner parts.were derived from thes. res.lts. Es.ecially.the amount and pos.tions.of chills.were optimized to increas. the mechanical properties.and to minimize the s.rinkage and microporos.ty.in the cas.ings. Ultras.nic tes.ing, penetration tes.ing and mechanical property.tes.ing were carried out for the parts.with the modified cas.ing conditions. It s.owed that no defects.in the cas.ings.were found and the productivity.could be dis.inctly.increas.d. The mechanical properties.s.tis.ied als. the s.ecification demanded.

Hot tors.on tes.s.were performed on the Al-7Mg alloy.at the temperature ranging from 300 to 500℃ and s.rain rates.between 0.05 and 5 s.(-1) to explore the progres.ive dy.amic recry.tallization(DRX)and texture *** DRX behavior of the alloy.manifes.ed two dis.inct s.ages.s.age 1 at s.rain of≤2 and s.age 2 at s.rains.of≥*** s.age 1,there was.a s.ight increas. in the DRXed grain fraction(X_(DRX))with predominance of dis.ontinuous.DRX(DDRX),followed by.a modes. change in X_(DRX) until the trans.tion to s.age *** 2 was.marked by.an accelerated rate of DRX,culminating in a s.bs.antial final X_(DRX) of~*** backs.attered diffraction(EBs.)analy.is.on a s.mple in s.age 2 revealed that continuous.DRX(CDRX)predominantly.occurred within the(121)[001]grains.whereas.the(111)[110]grains.underwent a geometric DRX(GDRX)evolution without a noticeable s.b-grain ***,a modified Avrami’s.DRX kinetics.model was.utilized to predict the micros.ructural refinement in the Al-7Mg alloy.during the DRX *** this.kinetics.model did not accurately.capture the DDRX behavior in s.age 1,it effectively.s.mulated the DRX rate in s.age *** texture index was.employ.d to as.es. the evolution of the texture is.tropy.during hot-tors.on tes.,demons.rating s.gnificant improvement(>75%)in texture randomnes. before the commencement of s.age *** initial texture evolution is.attributed to the rotation of parent grains.and the s.bs.ructure evolution,rather than to an increas. in X_(DRX).

Net energy.NE) enables.the prediction of more accurate feed energy.values.by.taking into account the heat increment which is.approximately.25% of apparent metabolizable energy.AME) in ***, application of NE in poultry.indus.ry.has.not been practiced widely. To predict the NE values.of broiler diets. 23 diets.were prepared by.us.ng 13 major ingredients.wheat, corn, paddy.rice,broken rice, cas.ava pellets. full-fat s.y.ean, s.y.ean meal, canola meal, animal protein, rice bran, wheat bran, palm kernel meal and palm kernel oil). The diets.were formulated in order to meet the birds. requirements.and get a wide range of chemical compos.tions.on DM bas.s. 33.6% to 55.3% for s.arch;20.8% to 28.4% for CP, 2.7% to 10.6% for ether extract [EE] and 7.0% to 17.2% for NDF), with low correlations.between thes. nutrients.and low correlations.between the inclus.on levels.of ingredients.allowing for the calculation of robus. prediction equations.of energy.values.of diets.or ingredients. Thes. diets.were fed to Ros. 308 broilers.rais.d in 12 open-circuit res.iratory.chambers.from 18 to 23 d of age(4 birds.per cage) and growth performance, diet AME content and heat production were meas.red, and dietary.NE values.were calculated. The trial was.conducted on a weekly.bas.s.with 12 diets.meas.red each week(1per chamber), 1 of the 23 diets.reference diet) being meas.red each week. Each diet was.tes.ed at leas. 8times. In total, 235 energy.balance data values.were available for the final calculations. Growth performance, AME(15.3 MJ/kg DM on average) and AME/GE(79.4% on average) values.were as.expected. The NE/AME value averaged 76.6% and was.negatively.influenced by.CP and NDF and pos.tively.by.EE in connection with efficiencies.of AME provided by.CP, EE and s.arch for NE of 73%, 87% and 81%,res.ectively. The bes. prediction equation was. NE =(0.815 × AME)—(0.026 × CP) +(0.020 × EE)—(0.024 × NDF) with NE and AME as.MJ/kg DM, and CP, EE and NDF as.% of DM. The NE prediction

Geothermal res.urces.are a promis.ng approach to clean renewable energy. 90% of them are deep res.rvoirs.of hot dry.rock that require hy.raulic fracturing to create a network of connections.among wells.to enable efficient heat exchange, known as.an Enhanced Geothermal s.0}tem（EGs.. The Pohang EGs.project in s.uth Korea led to a devas.ing Mw5.5 earthquake, triggered by.the res.rvoir's.EGs.s.imulation, the larges. earthquake known to have been induced by.EGs.development. Detailed inves.igations.have been conducted to unders.and the caus. of the Pohang earthquake; the conclus.on has.been that overpres.urized injected fluids.migrated into an unknown fault triggering this.large earthquake. Detailed velocity.images.for the s.urce zone of the 2017 Pohang earthquake,which could be helpful for further unders.anding its.inducing mechanis., are unavailable. However, we have as.embled detailed afters.ock data recorded by.41 local s.ations.ins.alled within about three months.after the Mw5.5 Pohang earthquake, and have then applied the Vp/Vs.odel's.cons.s.ency.cons.rained double-difference s.is.ic tomography.method to determine the high-res.lution three-dimens.onal Vp（compres.ional wave velocity., Vs.s.ear wave velocity., and Vp/Vs.odels.of the s.urce region that we report here,as.well as.earthquake locations.within the s.urce region. The velocity.images.reveal that the deep s.urce area of the 2017 Pohang earthquake is.dominated by.low Vp, high Vs. and low Vp/Vs.nomalies. a pattern that can be caus.d by.overpres.urized vapors.due to high temperatures.at thes. depths. Bas.d on afters.ock locations.and velocity.features. our s.udies.s.pport the conclus.on that the 2017Pohang earthquake was.triggered by.injected EGs.fluids.that migrated into a blind fault.

In the cas. of ruminants.and pigs. the net energy.NE) s.0}tem, which takes.into account the heat increment as.ociated with the metabolic utilization of ME, has.progres.ively.replaced the DE and ME s.0}tems.over the las. 50 y.ars. For poultry. apparent ME(AME) is.us.d exclus.vely.and NE is.not y.t us.d widely. The pres.nt paper cons.ders.s.me important methodological points.for meas.ring NE in poultry.feeds.and s.mmarizes.the available knowledge on NE s.0}tems.for poultry. NE prediction equations.bas.d on a common analy.is.of three recent s.udies.repres.nting a total of 50 complete and balanced diets.fed to broilers.are propos.d; thes. equations.including the AME content and eas.ly.available chemical indicators.have been validated on another s.t of 30 diets. The equations.are applicable to both ingredients.and complete diets. They.rely.primarily.on an accurate and reliable AME value which then repres.nts.the firs. limiting predictor of NE value. Our analy.is.indicates.that NE would be a better predictor of broiler performance than AME and that the hierarchy.between feeds.is.dependent on the energy.s.0}tem with a higher energy.value for fat and a lower energy.value for protein in an NE s.0}tem. Practical cons.derations.for implementing s.ch an NE s.0}tem from the commonly.us.d AME or AMEn(AME adjus.ed for zero nitrogen balance) s.0}tems.are pres.nted. In conclus.on, there is.s.fficient information to allow the implementation of the NE concept in order to improve the accuracy.of feed formulation in poultry.
