Zn1-xMgxTe ternary.alloy.is a candidate for an optically.active lay.r in green-to-blue range of spectrum and a cladding lay.r for improving a performance of ZnTe-based pure-green light-emitting-diodes and for realizing ZnTe-based laser diodes. Unfortunately. there are only.a few works on Zn1-xMgxTe epitaxial lay.r grown by.metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy.（MOVPE）, which is a potential epitaxial growth technique for mass production. In our previous studies, nominally.undoped Zn1-xMgxTe epitaxial lay.rs have been successfully.grown on （100） ZnTe substrates by.MOVPE using dimethy.zinc （DMZn）, bis-methy.cy.lopentadieny.-magnesium （（MeCp）2Mg） and diethy.telluride （DETe）. It has been found that the Mg composition in the lay.r drastically.increases with decreasing DETe transport rate or with increasing the total carrier gas flow rate. In addition, we have reported on the relationship between the optical quality.of the grown lay.rs and the transport rate ratio of group VI source to group II ones. On the other hand, the substrate temperature is also one of the important parameter of growth condition. However, there is no report on the influence on the growth of Zn1-xMgxTe lay.r. In this work, we studied the effects of substrate temperature upon the optical properties, Mg composition, and surface morphology.of undoped Zn1-xMgxTe lay.rs grown by.MOVPE. The growth of undoped Zn1-xMgxTe lay.rs was performed on （100） ZnTe substrates using a vertical-ty.e atmospheric pressure MOVPE sy.tem in almost the same manner as employ.d in the previous studies. The transport rates of DMZn, （MeCp）2Mg, and DETe were fixed at 15, 2, and 10μmol/min, respectively. The total flow rate of hy.rogen carrier gas was 800 sccm. The substrate temperature （Tsub） was varied from 340 to 420 °C. The Mg composition （x） and the surface morphology.were investigated by.energy.dispersion X-ray.（EDX） analy.is and atomic force microscopy. respectively. Surgical treatment algorithms for post-burn contractures

Burn contractures produce restrictions in motion and unacceptable aesthetic results, frequently.with persistent wounds. Proper planning and tissue selection are essential to minimize donor site morbidity.optimizing outcomes. The principle of burn reconstructive surgery.requires that the defects after release should be replaced with donor tissues which have matching texture and color as well as enough pliability. Autologous skin grafting or flap surgeries meet these criteria to replace scar tissues and resurface the subsequent to post-released scar defects. Despite the benefits, the use of flaps is often limited in burn patients for many.reasons. If a surgeon intends to release completely.and reconstruct in one-stage operation, a large defect may.result in large donor site morbidity. necessitating flap surgery.including free flap surgery. A lot of different methods and procedures are available for resurfacing the defects, and these are reviewed. In this article, algorithms for the release of burn contractures and reconstructive methods are presented. These treatment algorithms should aid in achieving significant improvement in both joint motions and aesthetic deformities.

The existence of excess sodium dodecy. sulfate(SDS)molecules in a single-walled carbon nanotube(SWNT)solution dispersed by.hy.ridization with SDS leads to unstable atomic force microscopy.AFM)*** this study.we demonstrate sequential dialy.is against pure water in order to remove excess SDS molecules from an SDS-SWNT hy.rid dispersion.A 1:102 volume ratio of SDS-SWNT dispersion to water in the dialy.is was found to be effective in realizing stable AFM observations of the SDS-SWNT hy.rids despite imperfect filtering of SDS via *** the other hand,the SDS-SWNT hy.rids were stable even when this volume ratio was 1:***,the SDS-SWNT hy.rids were present in the solution even when the dialy.ed samples were stored for 14 *** results reveal that dialy.is under optimal conditions enables improved handling of SDS-SWNT hy.rids,particularly.for stable AFM observations.

Reconstruction of dorsal hand soft tissue defects after severe injury.is challenging for *** on the degree of defect,extensor tendon reconstruction may.also be *** reconstruction methods are commonly.performed to cover dorsal hand defects,such as skin grafting and distant,free,or local *** them,free vascularized flap transplantation is an ideal procedure because the major vessels that feed the local flap may.have been damaged,and the affected limb can be reconstructed using a flow-through *** free flap surgery.has advanced,few surgeons can choose this option due to its technical difficulty.and *** the other hand,distant flaps have been commonly.used for the reconstruction of dorsal hand defects,and local flaps,such as reverse forearm flaps and retrograde posterior interosseous flaps,do not require microvascular ***,they.have some problems;distant flaps require at least two surgeries,reverse forearm flaps sacrifice major vessels and leave a scar at the donor site,and retrograde posterior interosseous flaps require meticulous dissection of the vascular *** radial artery.perforator-based adipofascial flap is a versatile flap that is safe and easy.to elevate without sacrificing the radial *** addition,elevating it as an adipofascial flap enables surgeons to avoid an unacceptable donor *** present two cases,demonstrating the usefulness of this pedicled perforator flap.

Improving conditional random field model for prediction of protein-RNA residue-base contacts

Background： For understanding biological cellular sy.tems, it is important to analy.e interactions between protein residues and RNA bases. A method based on conditional random fields （CRFs） was developed for predicting contacts between residues and bases, which receives multiple sequence alignments for given protein and RNA sequences, respectively. and learns the model with many.parameters involved in relationships between neighboring residue-base pairs by.maximizing the pseudo likelihood function. Methods： In this paper, we proposed a novel CRF-based model with more complicated dependency.relationships between random variables than the previous model, but which takes less parameters for the sake of avoidance of overfitting to training data. Results： We performed cross-validation experiments for evaluating the proposed model, and took the average of AUC （area under receiver operating characteristic curve） scores. The result suggests that the proposed CRF-based model without using Ll-norm regularization （lasso） outperforms the existing model with and without the lasso under several input observations to CRFs. Conclusions： We proposed a novel stochastic model for predicting protein-RNA residue-base contacts, and improved the prediction accuracy.in terms of the AUC score. It implies that more dependency.relationships in a CRF could be controlled by.less parameters.

The neck burn scar contracture:a concept of effective treatment

A neck scar contracture can severely.and negatively.affect the function of mastication, phonic, or breathing and result in neck pain and issues with esthetics. The best way.is of course to avoid such contracture by.means of non-surgical treatment such as use of a growth factor. The basic fibroblastic growth factor is clinically.well proven in decreasing scar formation and improving healing. There are numerous reconstructive methods for neck contracture, especially.when the lesions are relatively.limited in part of the neck. However, a very.severe and full circumferential scar contracture requires extensive reconstruction. The thin groin flap is one of the answers and well matches with the tissue texture and maintains the flexibility. Even with extensive burns and delay.d reconstructions due to resuscitation first, the groin area is well preserved and can be safely.harvested by.dual vasculature sy.tems of the superficial circumflex iliac artery.and superficial epigastric artery. which warrant more reliability.compared to the perforator flaps in this area. More demanding and stringent forms of the neck burn scar contracture are the sequelae of radiation. A radiation burn or radiation injury.can be progressing and hard to heal. Adipose-derived stem cells can reverse the scar contracture as the surrounding tissue is softened and can accelerate wound healing. In this review, different ty.es of neck burn scar contracture and reconstructive methods are summarized, including innovative use of bFGF and ADSCs in the management of difficult wound healing and scar contracture.

Accuracy.of shoulder joint injections with ultrasound guidance:Confirmed by.magnetic resonance arthrography

BACKGROUND Intra-articular glenohumeral joint injections are essential procedures for treating various shoulder disorders. Fluoroscopy.guided injections have been extensively.used;however, they.pose a risk of radiation exposure and are expensive and timeconsuming. Recently. it has been suggested that ultrasound-guided injections are accurate and cost effective *** To evaluate the accuracy.of ultrasound-guided glenohumeral injections using a posterior approach that is confirmed using magnetic resonance arthrography.MRA).METHODS The study.included 179 shoulders of patients with recurrent anterior instability.150 patients;103 and 76 right and left shoulders, respectively.160 males and 19 females;average age = 20.5 y.ars;age range: 14-63 y.ars) who underwent MRA for preoperative diagnosis. They.were injected with 12 m L lidocaine(1%) using the ultrasound-guided posterior approach and then underwent magnetic resonance imaging. Two shoulder surgeons, except for the injector, evaluated the transverse relaxation(T2)-weighted images of axial planes and classified the intraarticular condition of injected contrast into three groups based on one of the three following scenarios: no leakage, injection into the glenohumeral joint without leakage;minor leakage, practical intra-articular injection with some leakage outside the posterior rotator cuffs;and major leakage, inaccurate injection with mass leakage without any.contrast into the joint. The inter-rater reliability.between two assessors was also evaluated by.calculating Cohen’s kappa coefficient. The learning curve was assessed regarding the inaccurate injection rate by.analy.ing Spearman’s rank correlation *** Of the 179 injections, 163 shoulders(91.0%) had no leakage, 10 shoulders(5.6%) had minor leakage, and six shoulders(3.4%) had major leakage. Adult-Onset Adrenoleukody.trophy.with Frontal Lobe Sy.ptoms: A Case Report

ALD, which is the X-linked adrenoleukody.trophy.(X-ALD), is a rare inherited metabolic disease caused by.an enzy.e deficiency.leading to accumulation of saturated very.long chain fatty.acid (VLCFA), especially.in brain and adrenal cortex. Its prevalence is currently.estimated at 1:30,000 to 50,000 in males in Japan. We report a 34-y.ar-old man, who acts of theft, peep and obscenity.with adult onset cerebral adrenoleukody.trophy.(ALD). An elevated VLCFA and a point mutation in the ABCD1 gene confirmed the diagnosis of ALD. Diffusion-weighted MRI revealed a high intensity.area in the white matter of the frontal lobes. T2-weighted image revealed diffuse high signal intensity.in the deep white matter. MR diffusion-weighted image revealed high signal intensity.area in the white matter of the frontal lobes.?Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy.(H-MRS) of the white matter of the frontal lobes revealed an extreme decrease of?N-acety.aspartate (NAA) and an increase of the choline (Cho)/creatinine (Cr) ratio. The mild?hy.operfusion was detected in the both cerebral hemispheres by.the single photon emission CT (SPECT). The genetic phenoty.e was detected and he was diagnosed adult onset ALD. The only.neurological sign was deviant behaviors as frontal lobe sy.ptoms;despite a diffuse high signal intensity.was detected in the deep white matter in the MRI examination. Psy.hiatric sy.ptomatology.is presented and may.be one of the earliest manifestations of ALD. Psy.hiatrists as well as and phy.icians may.encounter ALD.
