The Dialafara area is part of the highly.endowed Kédougou-Kéniéba Inlier (KKI), West-Malian gold belt, which corresponds to a Paleoproterozoic window through the West African Craton (WAC). This study.presents, first of all, an integration of geophy.ical data interpretation with litho-structural field reconnaissance and then proposes a new litho-structural map of the Dialafara area. The Dialafara area shows a variety.of lithology.characterized by.volcanic and volcano-sedimentary.units, metasediments and plutonic intrusion. These lithologies were affected by.a complex superposition of structures of unequal importance defining three deformation phases (DD1 to DD3) under ductile to brittle regimes. These features permit to portray.a new litho-structural map, which shows that the Dialafara area presents a more complex lithological and structural context than the one presented in regional map of the KKI. This leads to the evidence that this area could be a potential site for exploration as it is situated between two world-class gold districts.

The Pica sy.drome is an eating disorder characterized by.an excessive or abnormal desire to consume a non-nourishing substance which can be relatively.harmless, or potentially.harmful for the health. It is a rare affection secondary.to the accumulation of diverse nature foreign bodies inside the digestive tract and more especially.at the stomach level. Gastro-intestinal localization is the most frequent, and can remain long time asy.ptomatic. Treatment is surgical. We report 3 cases of digestive complication of Pica sy.drome. The first one was operated for gastric perforation due to nail (53 nails, a pin and bands of tape recorder cassette ingested), the second one for trichobezoar and the last had a subocclusion by.pieces of granite.

An Application of Machine Learning Methods to Detect Mango Varieties

The mango, a fruit of immense economic and dietary.significance in numerous tropical and subtropical regions, play. a pivotal role in our agricultural landscape. Accurate identification is not just a necessity. but a crucial step for effective classification, sorting, and marketing. This study.delves into the potential of machine learning for this task, comparing the performance of four models: MobileNetV2, Xception, VGG16, and ResNet50V2. These models were trained on a dataset of annotated mango images, and their performance was evaluated using precision, accuracy. F1 score, and recall, which are standard metrics for image classification. The Xception model, with its exceptional performance, outshone the other models on all performance indicators. It achieved a staggering accuracy.of 99.47%, an F1 score of 99.43%, and a recall of 99.43%, showcasing its remarkable ability.to accurately.identify.mango varieties. MobileNetV2 followed closely.with performances of 98.95% accuracy. 98.85% F1 score, and 98.86% recall. ResNet50V2 also delivered satisfactory.results with 97.39% accuracy. 97.08% F1 score, and 97.17% recall. VGG16, however, was the least effective, with a precision rate of 83.25%, an F1 score of 83.25%, and a recall of 85.47%. These results confirm the superiority.of the Xception model in detecting mango varieties. Its advanced architecture allows it to capture more distinguishing features of mango images, leading to greater precision and reliability. Xception’s robustness in identify.ng true positives is another advantage, minimizing false positives and contributing to more accurate classification. This study.highlights the promising potential of machine learning, particularly.the Xception model, for accurately.identify.ng mango varieties.

The aim of this study.was to carry.out a dy.amic simulation of the energy.and environmental performance of a built space sy.tem, with a view to assessing its energy.and environmental class. The use of a simulation and modeling tool, supported by.various methodological references, formed the basis of our approach. Adopting a sy.temic perspective, we described the structural and functional aspects of the sy.tems making up built spaces, as well as the associated energy.flows. Our approach was also based on a ty.ology. taking into account ty.ical day., structural and functional configurations at different scales and angles of observation. The analy.is tool we developed in Java was applied to the built space sy.tem of the Patte d’Oie university.campus in Ouagadougou. Annual electricity.consumption was measured at 124387.34 kWh, closely.aligned with the average annual electricity.bill (125224.31 kWh), with a maximum relative deviation of 1%, followed by.a carbon emission balance of 58337.66 kg eq CO2 per y.ar. This validation confirmed the effectiveness of our tool. In addition, following the analy.is of electricity.consumption using our tool, the university.campus was classified in energy.class B and environmental class C. These results will be based on the emission factors of the energy.mix of the West African Economic and Monetary.Union (WAEMU) territory. with particular emphasis on Burkina Faso.

Pneumonia ranks as a leading cause of mortality. particularly.in children aged five and under. Detecting this disease ty.ically.requires radiologists to examine chest X-ray. and report their findings to phy.icians, a task susceptible to human error. The application of Deep Transfer Learning (DTL) for the identification of pneumonia through chest X-ray. is hindered by.a shortage of available images, which has led to less than optimal DTL performance and issues with overfitting. Overfitting is characterized by.a model’s learning that is too closely.fitted to the training data, reducing its effectiveness on unseen data. The problem of overfitting is especially.prevalent in medical image processing due to the high costs and extensive time required for image annotation, as well as the challenge of collecting substantial datasets that also respect patient privacy.concerning infectious diseases such as pneumonia. To mitigate these challenges, this paper introduces the use of conditional generative adversarial networks (CGAN) to enrich the pneumonia dataset with 2690 sy.thesized X-ray.images of the minority.class, aiming to even out the dataset distribution for improved diagnostic performance. Subsequently. we applied four modified lightweight deep transfer learning models such as Xception, MobileNetV2, MobileNet, and EfficientNetB0. These models have been fine-tuned and evaluated, demonstrating remarkable detection accuracies of 99.26%, 98.23%, 97.06%, and 94.55%, respectively. across fifty.epochs. The experimental results validate that the models we have proposed achieve high detection accuracy.rates, with the best model reaching up to 99.26% effectiveness, outperforming other models in the diagnosis of pneumonia from X-ray.images.

Introduction:?Health care-associated infection is an infection acquired during the care delivered in the hospital or in any.other care establishment which was neither present, nor in incubation at the admission of the patient or at the time of delivering the care or which does not manifest itself only.after the patient has been discharged or an infection contracted by.the professional in the course of his duties. Objectives:?To identify.mean causative germs?and to determine their sensitivity.to antibiotics and to identify.the risk factors of?health care-associated infection.?Material and methods:?It was about a prospective longitudinal study.conducted from November 1, 2017 to April 1, 2018?(6 months) in all children admitted to the pediatric surgery.service. Non-consenting parents and outpatient necrosectomy.case have not been included in this study.?Results:?This study.included 200 patients, of whom 30 experienced the hospital acquired infections with an infection rate of 15%. The surgical site infection was the most common ty.e, with 16 cases (53.3%), followed by.burns in 13 cases (43.3%) and urinary.tract infection in 1 case (3.3%). The average age of patients with infection was 56.33 ± 48.66 months with extremes of 1 and 180 months. The sex ratio was 1.30 for infected patients and was 1.83 for uninfected patients. The main bacteria responsible for surgical site infection were: Escherichia coli?(4 cases), Acinetobacter baumanii?(3 cases), Klebsiella pneumoniae?(2 cases), Staphy.ococcus aureus?(2 cases), Enterobacter cloacae?(1 case), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (1 case) and Enterobacter faecalis?(1 case). Among burn patients, the most frequent germs were: Acinetobacter baumanii?(7 cases), Klebsiella pneumoniae?(6 cases), Staphy.ococcus aureus?(6 cases), Escherichia coli?(4 cases), Pseudomonas aeruginosa?(2 cases) and Enterobacter faecalis?(2 cases). Nephroblastoma is the most common malignant renal tumor in children and is related to an abnormal proliferation of cells resembling those of the embry.nic kidney.(metanephroma), hence the terminology.embry.nal tumor. These are tumors that remain and remain unstudied in Mali because they.are common in adults in our context. Its annual incidence is estimated at approximately.1/10,000 births. Nephroblastoma is a rare or even exceptional tumor in adults. The clinical manifestation was a large swelling of the right hy.ochondrium;abdominal pain for a y.ar;unquantified fever, hy.ertension, initial hematuria associated with burning during urination and anemia. The main clinical manifestation remained fever and abdominal pain. This renal tumor posed a diagnostic problem which was previously.labeled as a mesenteric tumor in our general surgery.department. The diagnosis was made by.imaging: CT and magnetic resonance imaging. The treatment is multidisciplinary.and combines chemotherapy. surgery.with or without radiotherapy. The prognosis is poor due to late diagnosis and less effectiveness of chemotherapy.compared to the child. Survival did not exceed a y.ar and a half because the renal tumor in our patient was surgically.overcome. We report a case of nephroblastoma in an 86-y.ar-old patient with unfavorable histology.(hematogenous metastases), operated on in the general surgery.department and whose postoperative course was simple and who was referred to oncology.for treatment.

Introduction: Bladder tumors are common in our country.Mali is a bilharzial endemic country. In our context, urinary.bilharzia is common, and bladder tumors arouse particular interest in the field of urological oncology. because of their frequency. their diagnosis, their difficulty.in management and their histological particularity. The objective of our work was to study.the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic aspects of bladder tumors. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study.with a retrospective and prospective collection that took place over 3 y.ars from January.1, 2020 to December 31, 2022. Results: We identified 316 cases of bladder tumors during this period. Bladder tumors are a common pathology.representing 35.95% of all hospitalized patients, and occupy.ng the 1st rank of tumors in urology.in the Urology.Department of the Pr Bocar Sidy.Sall University.Hospital in Kati. Bladder tumors were more common in men with 56.33%. The average age of our patients was 50 y.ars ± 25.8 y.ars and the extreme ages were 20 and 87 y.ars. Urinary.schistosomiasis, considered a predisposing factor, was found in 66.78% of cases in our patients as a history. Transurethral resection of the bladder was performed in 100% of our patients, nephrostomy.in 1.90% of cases, ureterostomy.in 1.58% of cases, Bricker ty.e urinary.diversion in 1.27% of cases, and a neobladder in 0.32% of cases. Squamous cell carcinoma is the dominant histological ty.e (88.29%). The postoperative outcome was 99% favorable after resection. Conclusion: Bladder tumors were mainly.tumors infiltrating the bladder muscle. The main risk factor was urinary.bilharzia. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common histological ty.e with a diagnostic delay. thus limiting radical treatment after resection of the bladder tumor.

The rise of new viruses, like SARS-CoV-2 causing the COVID-19 outbreak, along with the return of antibiotic resistance in harmful bacteria, demands a swift and efficient reaction to safeguard the health and welfare of the global population. It is crucial to have effective measures for prevention, intervention, and monitoring in place to address these evolving and recurring risks, ensuring public health and international security. In countries with limited resources, utilizing recombinant mutation plasmid technology.in conjunction with PCR-HRM could help differentiate the existence of novel variants. cDNA sy.thesis was carried out on 8 nasophary.geal samples following viral RNA extraction. The P1 segment of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike S protein was amplified via conventional PCR. Subsequently. PCR products were ligated with the pGEM-T Easy.vector to generate eight recombinant SARS-CoV-2 plasmids. Clones containing mutations were sequenced using Sanger sequencing and analy.ed through PCR-HRM. The P1 segment of the S gene from SARS-CoV-2 was successfully.amplified, resulting in 8 recombinant plasmids generated from the 231 bp fragment. PCR-HRM analy.is of these recombinant plasmids differentiated three variations within the SARS-CoV-2 plasmid population, each display.ng distinct melting temperatures. Sanger sequencing identified mutations A112C, G113T, A114G, G214T, and G216C on the P1 segment, validating the PCR-HRM findings of the variations. These mutations led to the detection of L452R or L452M and F486V protein mutations within the protein sequence of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2. In summary. PCR-HRM is a vital and affordable tool for distinguishing SARS-CoV-2 variants utilizing recombinant plasmids as controls.
