An Integrated Die Casting Design System

Die casting process is one of the prime options for m anufacturing precisely dimensioned, sharply defined metal parts. The design of d ie casting dies comprises several stages and entails a large amount of time. Tra ditionally, the different stages of the die design were not integrated but exist as separate entities. Moreover, recurring modifications or even redesigns are r equired due to the complexity in achieving an accurate initial die design. As a result, die design is usually time-consuming and costly with respect to resourc es. The die casting industry will greatly benefit if proper application software are developed that integrates the different die design stages and allows editin g of die design as and when needed. Hence it is imperative to create an integrat ed die design system that shortens the die design time. This paper presents a research that establishes a prototype of an integrated die design system. It is developed using the commercial SolidWorks CAD system and n amed DiWorks. The aim of building the system on a commercial CAD system is to ut ilise the resources and features of the CAD system to speed up the die design pr ocess. DiWorks consists of six distinct modules: Project Manager, Cavity Insert Builder, Gating System Constructor, Die Base Designer, Ejector System Constructo r and Standard Components Library. Through these six modules, the die designer c an create a complete die casting die beginning from a product part model. It is a user-friendly system that allows both experienced and novice die designers to easily accomplish the task of die design. The practical goal of this research is twofold: to develop a system that integra tes the die design process and at the same time facilitates the editing of d ie design during or after the course of the design process. BACkGROUND The high prevalence of human papillomavirus(HPV)infection in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)is well established,and p16 expression is a strong ***-related tumors exhibit unique mechanisms that target p16 and p53 ***,research on HPV prevalence and the combined predictive value of p16 and p53 expression in head and neck cutaneous SCC(HNCSCC),particularly in Asian populations,remains *** retrospective study surveyed 62 patients with HNSCC(2011-2020),excluding those with facial warts or other skin *** To explore the prevalence of HPV and the predictive value of p16 and p53 expression in HNCSCC in Asian *** All patients underwent wide excision and *** staining for HPV,p16,and p53 yielded positive and negative *** relevance of each marker was investigated by categorizing the tumor locations into high-risk and middle-risk zones based on recurrence *** Of the 62 patients,20(32.26%)were male,with an average age of 82.27 years(range 26-103 years).High-risk included 19 cases(30.65%),with the eyelid and lip being the most common sites(five cases,8.06%).Middle-risk included 43 cases(69.35%),with the cheek being the most common(29 cases,46.77%).The p16 expression was detected in 24 patients(38.71%),p53 expression in 42 patients(72.58%),and HPV in five patients(8.06%).No significant association was found between p16 expression and the presence of HPV(P>0.99),with a positive predictive value of 8.33%.CONCLUSION This study revealed that p16,a surrogate HPV marker in oropharyngeal SCC,is not reliable in HNCSCC,providing valuable insights for further research in Asian populations.

Recent progress in cobalt-based compounds as high-performance anode materials for lithium ion batteries

Despite carbonaceous materials are widely employed as commercial negative electrodes for lithium ion battery, an urge requirement for new electrode materials that meet the needs of high energy density, long cycle life, low cost and safety is still underway. A number of cobalt-based compounds（Co（OH）_2, Co_3O_4, CoN, CoS,CoP, NiCo_2O_4, etc.） have been developed over the past years as promising anode materials for lithium ion batteries（LIBs） due to their high theoretical capacity, rich redox reaction and adequate cyclability. The LIBs performances of the cobalt-based compounds have been significantly improved in recent years, and it is anticipated that these materials will become a tangible reality for practical applications in the near future. However, the different types of cobalt-based compounds will result in diverse electrochemical performance. This review briefly analyzes recent progress in this field, especially highlights the synthetic approaches and the prepared nanostructures of the diverse cobalt-based compounds and their corresponding performances in LIBs, including the storage capacity, rate capability, cycling stability and so on.

Various diagnostic possibilities for zygomatic arch pain:Seven case reports and review of literature

BACkGROUND Pain of the zygomatic arch region is common among patients with orofacial pain,especially in those with temporomandibular disorder-related pain of a myogenic *** zygomatic arch pain may occur due to various causes other than muscle pain,appropriate diagnosis and treatment planning is essential to ensure its successful ***,zygomatic arch pain has not been handled as an independent clinical feature until now,and studies have mainly focused on pain resulting from trauma and surgical *** SUMMARy We describe 7 independent cases,all of which presented with the identical chief complaint of pain in the zygomatic arch ***,the underlying causes were different for each,being myofascial pain,myositis,tooth crack,dental caries,sinusitis,neuropathic pain,and salivary gland tumor *** this case report,the clinical features of each case are investigated and diseases to be considered in the diagnostic process are suggested,along with the diagnostic modalities(including computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging)that can lead to the appropriate final *** Zygomatic arch pain is a common complaint encountered in the orofacial pain clinic but may lead to *** must have in-depth knowledge of the possible differential diagnoses and evaluation tools.

Optimal seismic retrofit model for steel moment resisting frames with brittle connections

Based on performance-based seismic engineering, this paper proposes an optimal seismic retrofit model for steel moment resisting frames（SMRFs） to generate a retrofit scheme at minimal cost. To satisfy the acceptance criteria for the Basic Safety Objective（BSO） specified in FEMA 356, the minimum number of upgraded connections and their locations in an SMRF with brittle connections are determined by evolutionary computation. The performance of the proposed optimal retrofitting model is evaluated on the basis of the energy dissipation capacities, peak roof drift ratios, and maximum interstory drift ratios of structures before and after retrofitting. In addition, a retrofit efficiency index, which is defined as the ratio of the increment in seismic performance to the required retrofitting cost, is proposed to examine the efficiencies of the retrofit schemes derived from the model. The optimal seismic retrofit model is applied to the SAC benchmark examples for threestory and nine-story SMRFs with brittle connections. Using the retrofit efficiency index proposed in this study, the optimal retrofit schemes obtained from the model are found to be efficient for both examples in terms of energy dissipation capacity, roof drift ratio, and maximum inter-story drift ratio.

Muscular atrophy and weakness in the lower extremities in Behçet’s disease: A case report and review of literature

BACkGROUND In Behçet’s disease(BD),very few cases of muscular involvement have been reported *** natural history and therapeutic protocol for muscular involvement in BD are obscure due to the low incidence of peripheral neuropathy or myopathy in *** purpose of our study was to report a rare case of BD with chronic,focal forms of neuromyopathy and review the relevant *** SUMMARy We herein report the case of a 54-year-old man who presented with progressive muscular atrophy and weakness of both thighs 2 years after the presentation of the cardinal symptoms of *** past medical history,electrophysiological study,neurological examination,blood tests,magnetic resonance imaging study,and histological exam were performed for the differential *** literature on muscular involvement in BD was *** examination revealed that muscular involvement was predominantly localized in the proximal parts of the lower *** enhancement of several thigh muscles was observed on magnetic resonance imaging,which corresponded with the clinical *** study of one of the enhanced muscles showed denervation atrophy of the muscle with superimposed myopathic changes,while electrophysiological studies only suggested *** To our knowledge,this is the first case of neurogenic muscular atrophy with a specific set of clinical,radiological,electrophysiological,and histological findings reported in BD.

A lump growing in the breast may be referred to as a breast mass related to the ***,not all tumors are cancerous or *** masses can cause discomfort and pain,depending on the size and texture of the *** an appropriate diagnosis,non-cancerous breast masses can be diagnosed earlier to prevent their cultivation from being *** the development of the artificial neural network,the deep discriminative model,such as a convolutional neural network,may evaluate the breast lesion to distinguish benign and malignant cancers frommammogram breast masses *** work accomplished breastmasses classification relative to benign and malignant cancers using a digital database for screening mammography image datasets.A residual neural network 50(ResNet50)model along with an adaptive gradient algorithm,adaptive moment estimation,and stochastic gradient descent optimizers,as well as data augmentations and fine-tuning methods,were *** addition,a learning rate scheduler and 5-fold cross-validation were applied with 60 training procedures to determine the best *** results of training accuracy,p-value,test accuracy,area under the curve,sensitivity,precision,F1-score,specificity,and kappa for adaptive gradient algorithm 25%,75%,100%,and stochastic gradient descent 100%fine-tunings indicate that the classifier is feasible for categorizing breast cancer into benign and malignant from the mammographic breast masses images.

Fatigue strength evaluation of self-piercing riveted joints of AZ31 Mg alloy and cold-rolled steel sheets

The application of magnesium alloys to automobiles is increasing due to their superior specific strength and specific *** this study,an upper sheet of AZ31 magnesium alloy and a lower sheet of cold-rolled steel were joined by self-piercing riveting(SPR),a method commonly used to join automotive panels.A cross-shaped specimen was fabricated with a punching force of 35 kN,which exhibited the best joint strength for the SPR joint specimen *** and fatigue strengths were evaluated using cross-shaped specimens at loading angles of 0°,45°,and 90°.The load amplitude corresponding to the fatigue endurance limit was assumed to be at 106 cycles,and the fatigue ratios(=fatigue endurance limit/static strength)at the loading angles of 0°,45°,and 90°are 22%,13%,and 9%,*** all three loading angle specimens,fatigue cracks initiated at the triple point where the rivet shank,the upper sheet and the lower sheet are in contact with each other,with the cracks propagating through the thickness of the upper sheet and ultimately leading to *** fatigue lifetimes were evaluated through the von-Mises stress,maximum principal stress,and equivalent stress intensity *** was found that the fatigue lifetimes could be evaluated most appropriately through the maximum principal stress.
