This paper presents a novel approach for predicting the water quality indicator-secchi disk depth(Z_(sD)).Z_(sD)indirectly reflects water clarity and serves as a proxy for other quality *** study utilizes Deep Neural Network(DNN)trained on satellite remote sensing and measured data from three sources:two datasets obtained from official agencies in Croatia and slovenia,and one citizen science data source,all covering the northern coastal region of the Adriatic *** proposed model uses 1D Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)in the spectral dimension to predict Z_(sD).The model’s performance indicates a strong fit to the observed data,proving capability of 1D-CNN to capture changes in water *** the test dataset,the model achieved a high R-squared value of 0.890,a low root mean squared error(RMsE)of 0.023 and mean absolute error(MAE)of *** results demonstrate that employing a 1D-CNN in the spectral dimension of sentinel-3 OLCI data is an effective approach for predicting water *** findings have significant implications for monitoring Z_(sD)in coastal *** integrating diverse data sources and leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms,a more accurate and comprehensive assessment of water quality can be achieved.

Impact craters are formed due to the high-speed collisions between small to medium-sized celestial *** is the most significant driving force in the evolution of celestial bodies,and the impact craters provide crucial insights into the formation,evolution,and impact history of celestial *** this paper,we present a detailed review of the characteristics of impact craters,impact crater remote sensing data,recognition algorithms,and applications related to impact *** first provide a detailed description of the geometric texture,illumination,and morphology characteristics observed in remote sensing data of *** we summarize the remote sensing data and cataloging databases for the four terrestrial planets(i.e.,the Moon,Mars,Mercury,and Venus),as well as the impact craters on ***,we study the advancement achieved in the traditional methods,machine learning methods,and deep learning methods applied to the classification,segmentation,and recognition of impact ***,based on the analysis results,we discuss the existing challenges in impact crater recognition and suggest some ***,we explore the implementation of impact crater detection algorithms and provide a forward-looking perspective.

Gravitational wave(GW) astronomy is witnessing a transformative shift from terrestrial to space-based detection, with missions like Taiji at the forefront. While the transition brings unprecedented opportunities for exploring massive black hole binaries(MBHBs), it also imposes complex challenges in data analysis, particularly in parameter estimation amidst confusion *** this gap, we utilize scalable normalizing flow models to achieve rapid and accurate inference within the Taiji environment. Innovatively, our approach simplifies the data's complexity, employs a transformation mapping to overcome the year-period time-dependent response function, and unveils additional multimodality in the arrival time parameter. Our method estimates MBHBs several orders of magnitude faster than conventional techniques, maintaining high accuracy even in complex backgrounds. These findings significantly enhance the efficiency of GW data analysis, paving the way for rapid detection and alerting systems and enriching our ability to explore the universe through space-based GW observation.

The rapid emergence and widespread transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(sARs-CoV-2)have prompted governments worldwide to enact policies and measures to manage the virus’s *** interventions have substantially contributed to controlling disease ***,they have also significantly disrupted daily life,leading to increased public fatigue and resistance to sustained control measures,a phenomenon known as pandemic *** develop a comprehensive understanding of pandemic fatigue,this review systematically explores the concept and identifies quantitative indicators for measuring *** reviewed studies on pandemic fatigue across various countries,summarized the contributing factors,and analyzed its impact on personal protective *** findings indicate that the enforcement of health measures significantly influences the onset of pandemic fatigue,while individual perceptions of risk can negatively affect personal protective behaviors,creating a feedback loop with increasing *** results underscore the importance of considering the current severity of the pandemic and individual decisionmaking processes in the implementation of *** our understanding of pandemic fatigue is essential for developing effective policy responses in preparation for future potential epidemics.

The induction generator effect(IGE)and the openloop modal proximity(OLMP)are two different reasons why subsynchronous oscillations(ssOs)in a series-compensated power system(sCPs)may *** IGE attributes the growing ssOs to negative resistance,while the OLMP explains the ssO mechanism from the standpoint of modal *** this paper,we investigate the connections between the IGE and the OLMP through equivalent RLC circuit and open-loop modal *** investigation is conducted for two types of seriescompensated power systems where either a synchronous generator or a DFIG is connected at the sending *** investigation reveals the conditions,in which the IGE and the OLMP may jointly cause the growing ssOs,i.e.,both the IGE and the OLMP can explain why the growing ssOs ***,the investigation indicates that the IGE and the OLMP may be totally irrelevant and lead to growing ssOs *** implies that it is possible that in a sCPs,the growing ssOs are only due to the IGE,and the OLMP is non-existent,and vice ***,when the growing ssOs occurs in a sCPs,examination based on both the IGE and the OLMP should be carefully conducted in order to find if the oscillatory instability is due to the IGE,or the OLMP,or both of them.

Compacted clay liners are extensively used as barriers to control the upward diffusion of vapors of volatile or semi-volatile organic contaminants released from unsaturated contaminated soils at industrycontaminated *** study aimed to investigate the gas diffusion barrier performance of compacted clayey soils amended with three agents including attapulgite and diatomite individually,and attapulgite/diatomite *** properties including water retention,volumetric shrinkage,gas diffusion,and unconfined compressive strength were evaluated through a series of laboratory tests of amended compacted clayey *** results demonstrate that the decrease in volume proportions of interaggregate pores leads to an increase in unconfined compressive strength(qu).Both hydrophilic groups and microstructures of attapulgite and diatomite result in an increase in water retention percent(Wt)of compacted clayey soil specimens after amendment regardless of the type of agent or initial water content(w0).Furthermore,the ratio of the gas diffusion coefficient(De)to the gas diffusion coefficient in the air(Da)was significantly reduced owing to a decrease in volume proportions of inter-aggregate pores,hydrophilic group,and microstructures of attapulgite and *** electron microscope analyses revealed that rod-shaped attapulgite filled the inter-aggregate pores formed by clay particles,whereas the disc-shaped diatomite particles,characterized by micropores,failed to obstruct the interaggregate pores due to their larger particle *** intrusion porosimetry(MIP)analyses showed a reduction in pore volume in the inter-aggregate pores,leading to a reduction in the total pore volume for both the attapulgite and attapulgite/diatomite mixture amended clays,which is in accordance with the scanning electron microscope(sEM)*** findings are pertinent to the practical application of compacted clay liners as gas barriers against the upward migration of volatile or s

Amniotes differ substantially in absolute and relative brain size after controlling for allometry,and numerous hypotheses have been proposed to explain brain size *** size is thought to correlate with processing capacity and the brain’s ability to support complex manipulation such as nest-building *** increased complexity of nest structure is supposed to be a measure of an ability to manipulate nesting material into the required *** degree of nest-structure complexity is also supposed to be associated with body mass,partly because small species lose heat faster and delicate and insulated nests are more crucial for temperature control of eggs during incubation by small ***,we conducted comparative analyses to test these hypotheses by investigating whether the complexity of species-typical nest structure can be explained by brain size and body mass(a covariate also to control for allometric effects on brain size)across 1353 bird species from 147 *** with these hypotheses,our results revealed that avian brain size increases as the complexity of the nest structure increases after controlling for a significant effect of body size,and also that a negative relationship exists between nest complexity and body mass.

The negative-sequence reactive power-conductance(Q^(−)-G) droop control strategy is a conventional method to compensate for the output unbalanced voltages in an islanded ***, the conflict between unbalanced voltage compensation and negative-sequence reactive power sharing, caused bythe impedance mismatching of distribution lines and distributedgenerators, has not been solved only by Q^(−)-G droop *** this paper, a distributed cooperative secondary unbalancedvoltage control strategy is proposed to decrease the outputvoltage unbalance factor (VUF) of each droop-controlled DG,as well as to further enhance the negative-sequence reactivepower sharing effectiveness among DGs by properly shiftingup and down the Q^(−)-G droop characteristics of each *** algorithm for adaptive VUF weight coefficient is proposedto better suppress VUF under severe imbalance ***, a negative-sequence small-signal model of an MGunder an unbalanced condition, considering the communicationdelay time of the proposed sUVC, is established to analyze thesystem’s stability and transient performance under the influenceof some critical parameters. Finally, the effectiveness of theproposed strategy is validated by the simulation results froma real-time emulator of starsim HIL.
